“I can’t bear your hypocritical actions any longer!” After Wen Niannan married Gu Yansheng for three years, this is the sentence that he had heard the most.

Ever since their wedding, the moment when Gu Yansheng poured wine on his head in front of everyone there, he realized that couldn’t ask for much more.

“Sign the divorce agreement and be gone!”

However, just months after they divorced, Gu Yansheng, along with some bodyguards, came rushing into his room.

“Nian’nian, you are the best! Let’s not mess around and go home with me, alright?”

“President Gu, have you forgot that we are already divorced?”

“Then we can marry again! But this time, I’m the one after you.”

Gu Yansheng, he thought, you are living a good life and getting what you wanted, but have you considered my feelings?

Okay wow. This novel is so bad I, like completely erased it's existence from my mind after reading a few chapters. It's one thing for novels to explore abusers repenting and another freaking thing for abusers to just get what they want in the end scot-free. I don't care if the ML repents or feels very guilty later on, he absolutely does not deserve to get the MC back. Like he slammed the MC's head on the floor (If I remember right?) and forces the MC to lie to... more>> his family about his abuse.

This novel is honestly garbage and it isn't worth reading at all. <<less

The ML is a problematic person. He's violent and acts only for himself. He asks for forgiveness but doesn't realise the gravity of the abuse he put MC through. His sorry is so shallow. He wants forgiveness as he can't stand the pain and guilt. He's a terrible and violent person as he hits numerous people and behaves abnormally on multiple occasions not involving the MC in the scenario. As readers, let's stop romanticising people who clearly deserve jail time or admission to a mental institution. His redemption doesn't make... more>> up for anything. He doesn't even realise that hitting another person is the lowest of low as a human being. So please stop romanticising abusers. <<less

Okay, but I wanna ask everyone who has been giving it a low rating... DID YOU NOT READ THE TAGS???? It is supposed to be a dogblood drama. What did you expect? Flowery words? Fluff? Because if you had expected that you shouldn't even have picked up this novel.

Now coming to the actual story, it's pretty engaging in my opinion. Yeah, the MC faces abuse and the ML is the king of scums. He can even top Shao Qun from "Sissy" and that says something. But MC isn't weak as... more>> everyone been saying. He has PTSD and many other mental health issues, yet he stays strong. You don't need to fight and all to be strong. Sometimes saying "no" is a sign of strength and the MC has done that multiple times. I also like how this book emphasizes on the need for seeking psychiatric help when needed. it's nothing to be ashamed of. Even the scummiest ML has been wanting to get the psychiatric help and get better for MC. He wants to become a better version of himself. He recognises his toxic behaviour and that's something rare to see in a dogblood drama.

Out of all the characters, I think Tang Shuo and Wen Niannan has to be my favourite ones. Along with Tang Shuo's brother and Zhou Yuanfeng. I know that MC isn't going to end up with Tang Shuo at the end (since I am not finished with it yet) but I really, really hope that in another universe, they end up together. Tang Shuo and Wen Niannan deserves that after all.

Overall, I am really enjoying this dogblood drama and I don't know the reason behind such low ratings. If anything, it's better than many other novels I've read so far. So please, if you are thinking abt reading it, give it a try. READ THE TAGS befoe though. <<less

"I"m sick and tired. Just let me go, okay? Please... let me leave from Gu"s family, okay? I just want to get a divorce now, I just want to get out of this cage. "cause this cage called marriage is driving me crazy..."

Breathtaking scene was

Wen Niannan turned his head to looked at Gu Yansheng deeply, he said firmly, "Gu Yansheng, remember that I mentioned the divorce but you"re the first one who abandoned this marriage. I hope that no matter what happens from now on, you will never show up in front of me, no matter what it is, no matter how mad you are. Do not bother me anymore because I never want to see you again..."

Above mentioned scenes are when MC is asking for divorce from the scum (at that time before repentance) ML

This novel is written very well

I SPECIALLY GO WITH THE HEADACHE CAUSING REGISTRATION ON NOVEL UPDATES BECAUSE:

Dont worry they divorce and the ML is chasing the MC.

I also think The second ML has a chance to our MC. Honeslty I shipped the second ML and MC.

In chapter 100+ the MC was trumatized and the second ML was caring to the MC. And then the ML will find the truth little by little about his b*tch lover.

The MC is not weak he was just so truamatized from his past and from his ex husband. In later chapter the MC will also stand for himself. The ML will... more>> also find out that he love the MC and the love he give to his bit*h is just a gratitude he felt even the one who save him is the MC.

The ML was blinded by the truth beacuse he thought that the person who save him was his f*cking lover not the MC. I wish the second ML will have a happy ending with the mc

Read on novelhd. Com the chapters are advanced. <<less

I just can't even.

I tried, I really did, however this story is just.... yeah no 👎, just no 👎. I couldn't even get past the first sentence of the second chapter, so much abuse! And for what!?!? Love?!? Ugh! I absolutely cannot stomach this story!

The ML is an abusive d*ck who, from the looks of the other reviews, is going to get a happy ending with the person he is abusing!

I just can't even. I tried to skip ahead a couple of chapters to see if anything gets better -... more>> Nope!

I have never wanted a story to stop existing as much as this one.

Read it if you want, but I am putting this one in my top worst stories lost (which doesn't exists because I want nothing to do with it). <<less

So stereotypical it hurts.

Scum ML.

Treated MC like dirt because he had to marry MC instead of his 'one twu love'.

One twu love is a fake white lotus who wasn't the real person he had fallen in love with in the first place. 2 guesses who it actually was and the first one don't count

The relationship between MC and ML is toxic and abusive, I do not support them at all.

the amount of tears and madness I sacrificed for this novel, author I appreciate your work but I'm too broke to give you a therapy session

Second ML is the best character here, and I stand by that choice.

For Ml: the trauma ML gave to MC is simply way too.... disturbing, calling him (mc) 'cruel' after giving him trauma and sh*t sounds s*upid for me, I mean- speak for yourself, hello????? I hate him and that's it. I don't like him and never will. He is s*upid, He is so f*cking disgusting that I want to cry.

For Mc: I pity him for the amount of trauma he had suffered but I do know for a fact that being together with ML again was the s*upidest move he ever did, first of all, ML brought back a ugly and disgusting animal that I have ever seen mistress, that's right. A m I s t r e s s. He was like "ohwOw I'm totaLlY fiNe witH it I stiLl lOve hIm" no!!! That's a sign he betrayed you!!!! Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! I was always irritated with his actions in the first and middle chapters, the end chapters was less irritating but still brings me madness.

The mistress or whoever that unicorn dumb guy is: he's irritating, everything he does and everything he say is so s*upid and so disgustingly irritating. I hate him to the core, he is a sand sculpture :)

I read the manhwa and came here in hope that MC finally leave the scum ML and have a happy ever after with the second ML (his friend in school, the blond guy). But, no, as one of the reviewers said: WenNian Nan got PTSD, depression, trauma and a lot of illnesses (including almost broken leg 2x, yes twice, and stomach injury (forgot if it's illness or due to knife wound)) and all Gu Yansheng got was guilt? Sounds very lenient and I hate it.

Spoiler

MC & ML's relationship was toxic (on ML's side), MC who once got saved by ML when he was a child about to be locked up in a dark room by bullies saved ML who was being beaten up when he grew up (and stole MC's necklace which was a keepsake from his mother), then was deceived by white lotus thinking that he's his saviour. MC's dad's company was in trouble and sought help from ML's family, who then found out MC's the one who saved ML and liked him, so they married them off (ML still deceived). MC told ML's family of white lotus' lies (want ML and his family's riches to be above everyone, saving his uncle's business in disguise (aka he doesn't give a damn)) who then sent him away with a deal (studying in a music school).

Meanwhile, MC was abused physically, verbally and emotionally as ML's spouse for years. He was also not allowed to touch piano (that he loved, because his mother was a pianist, and he met ML when ML played a piano in an event), with no one helping him, just symphatizing with him. ML's family told him to tolerate ML (who they spoiled rotten) because he has a little 'temper' (heh, a little temper caused MC to regularly went to the hospital? Shouldn't that world's humans almost die off by now, then?), yes, they know ML's been abusing MC, they're rich, they need almost no effort to know such a thing. ML simply thought they didn't know and 'ordered' MC to put up a front.

There're lots of people saying that MC could've left. But it seems they forgot why he was stuck in the first place, the first, is of course, he loved him, quite stubbornly, which could've enabled him to leave later. But, the second reason, is that MC's dad needs ML's family to help their business. While MC's dad was kept in the dark (he had an inkling, but never sure plus he felt guilt towards MC for kinda neglecting him after his mother died). Third, he basically treated ML as the only light in his world (fixation not obssesion), which is hard to let go of plus Stockholm Syndrome. Trauma from all that abuse and twice kidnapping isn't that easy to get rid of.

ML never repented, after he knew the truth, all he did was blaming white lotus for deceiving him (he could've checked the truth long ago, but never cared enough), his family and MC for keeping quiet about it (ML didn't trust anything that's equal to MC being good and white lotus being, well, white lotus), and MC for being heartless and not giving him a chance (you can see from the words that MC is still quite scared of ML since 100% of his injuries came from him or because of him, he had panic attacks when seeing him and his legs (that almost became disabled) throbbed). Even other abusers are better than him. Do you know? Normally domestic violance abuser will ask forgiveness from their partner after abusing them (in chinese novels, you can see terms similiar to dogeza), and treated them well for a period of time. ML? He never did. What he was doing is forcing MC to forgive him by forcing his (unwanted and traumatic) affections on him while guilt-tripping him. He has zero remorse.

Like what Shi Jin (From Death Progress Bar; Ch 111) said: Those who got close to you for benefits will leave when the benefits are gone; those who get close to you for compensation will leave when they've been compensated enough; those who got close to you because of guilt will leave when their guilt subsides... Only those who are with you for you will stay with you regardless of circumstances.

ML was with white lotus because of gratitude, so when he knew he got the wrong person and was deceived, he turns his face (even before, when he was simply suspicious, they never had any intimate contact, he simply spoiled him a little and abused MC to his heart's content). ML sticked to MC because of guilt, gratitude, and longing (for his love). What he wanted was the unreserved love MC show and gave him before, he knew there's no one else apart from MC who'll give him such love, plus feeling uncomfortable from his guilt and belated gratitude (past and present), he sticked to MC without any considerations of MC's wellbeing (trauma, emotions, etc) and reputation (people (not netizens) thought MC's using ML or blames MC [victim-blaming], etc). When one's in love with another, one would worry about the other's well being (physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual), and wants to do the best for them (like second ML). He's definitely gonna relapse at some point, when he got bored of the 'devoted, homely' MC. And while maybe, perhaps, probably, kinda unlikely the physical abuse might be gone, the other abuses will still be there. And MC's trauma and illnesses (old illnesses that's not treated properly almost never got cured, it's like a heart disease, welp, actually, MC might develop one in the future) will relapse.

Please read Don't Pick Up The tr*sh From the tr*sh Bin for the correct ontake about domestic violance in marriage.

ML's family is all tr*sh. ML's brother (?, who liked second ML's brother) forces and threatens second ML's brother to fall in love with him, with no regard of how mentally taxing it'll be on him. His parents and grandparents may seem to be kind to MC, but at the end, they tacitly let ML's abuse on MC (I'm sure if MC even thought of going to court for abuse at the beginning, they would've locked him up. Just look at how angry they are when the company's reputation was affected by ML's 'love' (heh) affairs).

Basically, this novel romanticizes domestic abuse. It's a happy end for ML and his family, but a merry bad end for MC and everyone else. MC got stuck with ML and his shitty family, MC's father couldn't do anything since ML's family is more powerful and MC looks happy (and scarred, so terribly scarred just because of one person), Second ML was forced to fall in love with someone he didn't like because of 'amnesia' plot, rendering him helpless to help MC if anything happen again, Second ML's brother is either dead or got stuck with ML's brother (?) or someone as worse. I think author love ML and hates or feeling sadistic to MC.

And yes, I skipped some parts aka doesn't completely read it (but from the manhua, some chapters, the ending, and comments), it's basically like the above. Everything I read is what I commented on.

[collapse]

There's so many more to criticize, but others already commented about that.

But, it's pretty good to read when you're in a bad mood and want to rage. Sorry for the long rant. <<less

I really don't like the cinnamon roll MC to get together with tr*sh ML duh, does his 'misunderstandings' justify his abuse towards Niannian? No! A person like that shouldn't even be all that pitiful and blah³, bruh he is an abuser, the worst type of ML

I have no particular thoughts about this novel. Most of them were already mentioned in the comments. However, the ending may have been satisfying if the MC and ML did not end up with each other again. I may have been glad if the MC only forgave the ML but never remarried him again asdfghjkl. The ML should have ended up with that other guy ig or any other except for that ML tr*sh. He kind of developed towards the end but the label "tr*sh" will always suit him, a "slightly good tr*sh" with a ML's halo tsk.

Completed the raws. I don't understand why do people even start reading and rate it at 1 star despite the warning tags. It's a dog blood scummy gong turn good dramatic novel. What do you expect? I made it through the whole drama and tbh I did not regret reading at all. The bad guys got what they deserved and scum gong did not get it easy as well. I really love the side CPs and but one had a BE and my heart hurts so much. The fluff comes... more>> late at about chapter 200+ and I think you do need to stay on for the whole thing to make sense. I wound up rating this 2/5 because this is the first ever most angst story I've ever read. The heartburn I experienced in this novel is unmeasurable so I had fun. I'll give the 1 star for the MC's nature and another one star for HE.

Firstly, I read this because of the manhua. I can't handle the angst so I binge reading the novel. I love those "pay-back-to-bastards" story but nevermind payback, the MC is so so so frustrating. Period. The summary of the novel didn't even happen in the actual novel. The summary gives off the strong independent MC after being broken but meh.
Spoiler

I love the part where the MC told the MF (before the divorce) "In the future, never come see me again" It sure gives off that "I know you'll come to find me in the future"

[collapse]

But how could the MC not shoo the ML completely? This is the most unsatisfying parts of the novel. Despite the " never see me again", they've been seeing each other again and again which really gives the MF a chance to slip his being (when he's so not needed anymore).

If you love a story which the character make a total clown of himself, maybe this is for you.

First of all, I think all of those people giving this novel a low rating just because the plot isn't fluffy and the relationship is abusive really need to get a life and leave the rest of us alone. Find something you're comfortable with reading instead of brigading works of art you don't agree with. I'm old enough to know these are unhealthy relationships, but I love my angst.

I love the whole tempestuous relationship between couples and messy love interest trope. That's actually how I got recommended this is in... more>> the first place, actually. I've been hooked on Shui Qian Cheng's 188 novel series and now that I'm done I wanted something of that ilk to read.

That being said, I actually like the storyline! It has potential! The problem is the execution. It genuinely feels like it was written by a 14-year-old. For example, you can tell sometimes when authors are young and inexperienced, especially based on the way characters react in certain situations, or just a lack of complexity in general. This is one of those. And no, it most definitely has nothing to do with language and culture gaps. I've read other books from not just Shui Qian Cheng and the difference is stark.

The main character's husband and the man with whom he is having an affair seem almost cartoonishly villainous. I'm just at chapter 32, so I assume the husband will change, but the things he says and does are both predictable and textbook or very 'Lifetime Movie'. The man with who he's having an affair is worse. There is just no real depth to anything.

In well-written books, you shouldn't have to make other people seem like a cartoon villain with no depth in order to increase your readers' sympathy for the main character. It's a cheap tactic. The things the characters including the MC's husband say are also like what a teen might THINK an abusive spouse might say. Very, very, very cliche and cringe.

At chapter 32, I have no connection or love for any of the characters, which is worrying. <<less

I'm not sure whether I can rely on the Status in the reviews, but it looks like most of the people that left a review did not actually read the full novel and are jumping to conclusions based on the first half of the novel.

People who cannot handle depictions of abuse and violence will definitely not enjoy it [or rather will hate it], since first half of the novel describes a very toxic and abusive relationship between MC and ML. However, this does not mean that this is a bad... more>> novel. Instead, this is a novel about bad things happening to good people due to complicated circumstances. It is very well written, with great plot and tremendous character growth.

Now a little rant: it seems like everyone is pretty much blaming [exclusively] ML for all the things that happened to MC. Yes, ML does terrible things that cannot be justified, and yes, anyone [including myself] would end up hating ML during 2/3 of the chapters. I only want to point out that he acts the was he does based on the information that he was given by his family and MC: which are either lies or things that they don't tell him at all.

Spoiler

1 - ML believes that MC is the reason he was separated from Shen Luoan, who ML believes [with all his heart!] to be his true love and savior.

2 - Then ML was forced to marry MC against his will [under the pressure of his mother], which made him resent and despise MC even more, since ML believed that MC was simply scheming.

3 - No one would tell ML the truth about what happened on that "faithful day" and they comply with all the lies that are being spread by Shen Luoan.

4 - They "force" MC on him by constant nagging him about how great and nice MC is and how much MC loves ML, which only results in more anger and resentment [because of #1, 2, 3].

5 - MC s*upidly naively hopes that one day ML magically realizes [out of nowhere, without any help, or facts, like completely on his own] that MC is innocent and would fall in love with him. MC does nothing to expose Shen Luoan and prohibits others from saying anything as well.

[collapse]

So, ML lives his life surrounded by lies and misinformation. Lastly, ML asked MC for a divorce multiple times [which could stop all suffering for MC], but MC refused every time [because of #5] until it was almost too late. Their relationship is very complex and cannot be considered only from a single point of view, which I think is one of the strong sides of this novel.

None of above justifies ML behavior, it only means that situation is much more complicated then it may seem if you don't read the entire book. Other characters, including MC, contribute to overall tragedy.

I think this is a great novel, but again - don't even attempt to read it if you cannot handle violence and abuse.

Finally, I don't think that this novel glorifies domestic abuse. It is a part of the plot, just like numerous highly-rated novels have mu*der [and other horrible things that I hope no one will encounter in their life] as part of their plot. Does that mean that all those novels say that mu*der is OK? <<less

Heyo~ Manhua reader here! I'll have to say, the bad reviews piss me off. Don't like dog blood? Don't read, ah! Did you even see the tags? Hey, just say if you can't read. I'll read it out for you, it has s*xual ab*se, st*ckholm syndrome, misunderstandings, ab*sive characters, etc. I'm a dog blood lover ah, you leave this novel alone. Don't like, don't read. Don't yuck my yum.

You hate the ML? Great! That just means the author is really talented ba, when reading this, my blood also boiled! But... more>> am I going to hate the author? No!

It's wrong to hate the author, even if you dislike this story. Just because this story is about ab*se, doesn't mean the author supports it, you know~ Don't be so shallow-minded, this work is fiction ah. Save your time finding a novel you actually like instead of sh*tting on this novel and writing a bad review for it.

Anyway, let's start with my actual review of this novel. I think it's really great! I hated the ML so much, he's irredeemable and I love it, because I can just hate this character and it would be justifiable with the amount of sins he has. This novel is so nice to vent my anger when things aren't going well in real life! Keep in mind though, you want to hate, hate the characters, not the author. Or, you can hate the fact that God didn't give you a single braincell~ I absolutely love Niannian, even with how dumb and forgiving he is, he's just a pure child. Hm, or maybe not. It's been a while since I've read this one. Still, I love Niannian and I think Gu Yansheng is immaculately written. Why? Because Gu Yansheng is intended to be an annoying, irredeemable assh*le. So, if he's an annoying, irredeemable assh*le, that just means he's written well! Heck, if I was promised an annoying bastard and I was given a kind, gentle person instead, I would be annoyed!

Know this one thing; the novel isn't bad at all, if you criticize it for being too dog blood then that's your fault. It's dog blood novel ah, how can you assume it won't be dog blood? That would just be lying, ba. <<less
