Great flow. The world building is excellent and the characters are set up (background/development/personalities/etc.) far better than what I have come to expect to see from a cn web novel. Much recommended for others to read.

Spoiler

What I love greatly about this is that, even though the ML isn't incompetent by any means, the ML is clearly handicapped at the beginning of the novel. So the MC is the one who manages to save the day by relying on her wit and ingenuity to get through most of the obstacles and troubles the ML and MC encounter. The author at least attempts to keep the MC's abilities and reactions believable. The best part, imho, is that most of the times those attempts are done well enough that a reader can buy into them too.

The other thing is that the MC's and ML's interactions are the best! There's not really any romance so far because of the ML's situation:

The MC thinks the ML is a child but treats him like a pet because (1) he has yet to reveal his true form to her and (2) his injuries forces him to resign himself to her treatment. This leads to some extremely funny moments, like her trying to determine his gender or taking his temperature the same way we would a cat's. His poor dignity lol!

The ML decides to tag along with her because she saved him first and she's going to a place he thinks will cure his own problem. It's cute to see him slowly warming up to her.

[collapse]

Update: 3/4/2018 (c37)

Still going strong. The story's character developments and timeline structure is commendable and keeps the each arc from feeling episodic. The author manages to keep to the "rules" set in universe, which allows the reader to be able to feel the weight of the MC's/ML's previous actions in how they develop their path.

Spoiler

Especially so with the ML, who the author shows to be NOT human. This is one of the best aspects the author creates with this story. The author clearly defines the differences between the beastmen and humans and the differences in the various beastmen types. Through various interactions the MC has with different characters, we get a better understanding of how a human's common sense wouldn't match with someone from a different species and way of life.

This rule of non-human behavior colors the ML's character-development as his affections for the MC grows. Although it's refreshing to see an ML who doesn't immediately fall for the MC, it's even more so to be able to observe how he falls for her. Usually, stories tend to show why we, the READERS, would expect the ML to fall for the MC, but rarely do we see the ML's POV of how and why he fell in love AS he's falling in love. His uncertainty and confusion, as his feelings battle with his sense of normalcy, give his character more depth than what we usually see with any ML.

And props to the author for having the MC stick with the goal of finding home. She's in a totally different and more hostile world, where she doesn't truly have a reason to expect a way back home. But instead of giving up and coping with how to settle, the MC holds onto the slimmest of hopes that she might be able to get back and perseveres. She continues to keep trying despite setbacks. Readers are able to see when her spirit strains but, nonetheless, never breaks, and we're able to empathize with her because of how believable the author makes it. I love how the author can realistically showcase the strength of hope without making it seem like something that would only happen in stories.

[collapse]

Update: 4/13/2018 (c55)

Can I just say how much I ADORE the author's ability to build up a truly believable romance? Nevermind, I'm saying it. What's even better is how the author spins the romance while correlating it perfectly with the character growth of the couple. It's just a beautiful thing to read.

Spoiler

I also adore how much perseverance and resourcefulness the MC has. The author makes sure to not make her OP and gives her abilities pretty solid foundations. I continue to be impressed with the author's characterization of the MC, in how empowering she is on her own. She finds out that her original plan of going home is no longer available to her, but doesn't let that stop her from finding a new path. She also continues to rely on and develop her own abilities to get her out of rough situations instead of just waiting for someone to come save her.

I also love how the author subverts the MC's "space" and prevents it from being a typical deus ex machina. Instead, the author actually cares to explore its mystery and makes it a plot-point in the story.

I'm also impressed with how the author is able to illustrate the changes in the ML's behavior in a way that doesn't seem forced or out of character. He still has the traits of being overly independent, impatient, almost cruel/cold, and arrogant in himself, with both his race and his abilities. But he's developing the ability to have trust, patience, and understanding in the MC to a degree that it's also affecting his previous stated traits. I like how the author shows that the MC didn't "fix" the ML, but merely influenced his perspective of the world. The ML's new outlook in turn causes his character developments.

INCOMING RANT ALERT

Spoiler
    1. the FL is SO DUMB. whenever someone's attacking them, she tells them to stop as if that's going to do something. you think someone who has set their mind to mu*dering you is gonna say "youre right my bad" and leave you alone???
    2. she chose to stay with the ML in a world where you have to sh*t in the forest, use leaves to wipe your ass, don't have pads for periods, don't have showers or soap, etc. she literally ABANDONED technology for some caveman shit. I KNOW that Ryan's hair is greasy af, full of dandruff, and his mouth reeks. this is a man who has never washed his ass.
    3. when some of the characters are in their animal forms, they open doors, grab things, brush tears away, and carry stuff... with their paws. unless they're one of the animals from kung fu panda this doesn't add up. I have absolutely no clue how the beastmen work are supposed to work; it looks like they still retain their tails, claws, ears, etc when they're in their beastmen form but the author previously said they looked like humans. idek man... ryan constantly touches the FL with his claws and I never know what form he's in.
    4. the world building is absolute shit
    5. the FL gets an odd pocket dimension out of nowhere and it is never explained
    6. the ML forced himself on the FL multiple times and he shocks the FL sm one time that she wants to get away from him asap. he also thinks she's sweet after kissing her, like OBVIOUSLY she's sweeter... she's been brushing her teeth for 16 years and this man doesn't even know what a toothbrush is
    7. the ML is so incredibly rude to his son & he even gets jealous of his own kid (???) he doesn't let him enjoy any affection, even from his own mother, and forces his ass to fight at 2 years old, even making him kill some deer people aka the fl's friends. that's customary for leopards, I get it, but this kid is technically 75% human. the FL knows all this is happening but doesn't lift a finger ofc. it would've been better for her to just abort her kid instead of mistreating him like this
    8. there really was no need to write that the leopards had to share women. reading abt it made me so sad bc the leopards treated women like comfort women and made them live in shabby huts : ((. the fact that the ratty ass, disgusting, smelly animals had the audacity to object to females not being shared makes me wretch. go take a bath and brush your crooked ass teeth and then come back
    9. again, the fl's a dumbass. she starts making whole f*cking bombs and uses them in front of a bunch of leopards and tigers, so now they'll abuse it and just go crazy. she lived in the modern era and has learned about the effects of war on people; I don't know why the f*ck she has the goddamn iq of a flip flop. she also says she doesn't wanna move to ireland because she'll lose her friends
as if that isn't already happening with her going to goddamn discount narnia 24/7. I can't believe she's choosing to live like a cavemen with some psycho; she even f*cking takes her cat back to prehistoric times and wanted to drag her mom there too man idk what she's even thinking
    10. the ML is a manipulative jackass who's crushed the fl's hopes numerous times, gaslights her, and again, has tried to r*pe her multiple times. he literally tried to throw her cat out the window bc her CAT is a male
he's a psycho furry who locks her up and will do anything to keep her. he should start taking care of his f*cking rotting teeth before he starts with his own kid

For those wanting a sweet ride story, this novel definitely doesn't disappoint.

Our precious female lead is intelligent for her age (physics and chemistry are NOT easy, especially at 16) and her appliances of her knowledge to the literal social Darwinist world she is forcefully thrown into is compelling and gratifying. She's not quite a damsel in distress since she thinks quickly, acts independently, and knows exactly what her end goal is. The author does an excellent job describing the beastmen and the flow of the story is phenomenal, short yet... more>> satisfying, with a touch of a thrilling experience. What really makes the story work is the realistic relationship between the female and male lead (no instant liking in the very beginning but slowly evolves into a likable impression to love). I personally am a fan of some possessive lover stuff; the male lead certainly doesn't like to show the female lead off to others and everything he does is sweet, even his words although demanding are quite heart-swaying to our female lead. However, he is greatly considerate towards the female lead and obeys her wishes so as not to scare her off. The other mentioned beastmen aren't too expendable; they're perfectly placed to progress the plot and the tension is definitely delicious since the male lead is so territorial.

I can't wait for more chapters! Authors, translators, and everyone participating to gift us this lovely novel, you're all too amazing! You have my gratitude and applause for all your hard work! <<less

If you want to read it, note the tags. Be warned. The tags happen to the protagonist after she matured, which she allowed completely. There is a heavy emphasis on how different beastmen's (non-existent) morality bar with humans' are, which makes the story both realistic and uncomfortable if you can't take your mind off that. So, to read this, you need to overlook a lot of things and never view the male protagonist as a human. He's a beast down to his core (I mean he's a beastmen too so).

However,... more>> this actually shows the good and solid (although scarce) worldbuilding in the story. The author never tries to make the male protag less cruel or humanize him, just because he fall in love with a human. Ten points for that.

Even though she knew that, our protagonist... has... um... a really big heart to be able to love and accept the male protagonist. Yep. Love makes you blind alright. This paragraph will makes sense if you know the things the ML did.

If you can't handle what the tag said, then go, go far away! If not, you're gonna regret reading this.

Now, if you are bored and want to read some 'romance' and male yandere action? Sure, read this. I mean I stayed for the yandere lol

Edit: If you liked Chongfei Manual and still reading in joy to this point, cheering Wei Luo and Zhao Jie wholeheartedly, then this novel will just be right for you. <<less

Well, ML is anything but gentle. If you like Stockholm Syndrome, this is the stuff.

Spoiler

P.S. why do chinese novels describe s*x scenes so weirdly - do all of them have a pain/humiliation kink or what??? It's really weird to read the gratuitous descriptions of how she cried a lot and was it pain every time ML f*cked her but it's treated like it's ok?!? I mean not all novels, but I've seen exactly the same "style" in Doomed to be Cannon Fodder and it's really weird...

[collapse]

And the worst thing is not just ML's creepy behavior, which is very bad even on yandere scale, but the utter lack of logic in the setting and plot itself.

Spoiler

Yes, I'm talking about her superpowers which appeared out of nowhere and are extremely OP without an ounce of explanation, and the crappy worldbuilding, AND even worse characterisation - I mean a literal caveman that can learn to drive a car in ONE day?!? AND integrate into modern society without suspicion??? Language barrier, anyone???

the title gentle beast is really suitable. The male lead is really good to her.

my main problem is that I read this for the yandere tag and he is a disappointment. He lets enemies live so they come back to cause trouble. Even the enemy that sliced her stomach open. The guy who sliced her stomach open was assumed to be dead the first time but came back and the male lead only seriously injured him rather than take his life. Even the wolf who threatened to take his woman... more>> was allowed to live time and time again. The male lead only threatens making him seem like all talk. I want a yandere who cuts problems by the roots. You cant be yandere is you allow people that hurt your lover to live.

Spoiler

im not sure if there was actual r*pe or not. Maybe it was attempted force but I dont know if he penetrated or not before she stun gunned him.

towards the end she gets cond*ms when returning to her own time, but they end up being useless anyway. She should have bought lube! Has she never heard of it !? Because he is so big (pen*s size, she gets hurt but the truth is the v*gina can expand! It can accommodate a fist! You give birth to a baby through there! There are strange horse pen*s dildos and p*rn based on it for a reason!. Seriously, she could have used lube or used foreplay to get wetter and accommodate him better. Maybe the author really wants her to be portrayed as a small human, or maybe shes just a girl with a shorter v*gina but it bothered me so much. If its painful your not doing it right.

At first I wanted to give this story 3 stars because it pissed me off, but after reading the ending I change my mind and rate it 4 stars. I would rate it 3.5 if I could, because while it's worth a read, I definitely will not be rereading anytime soon.

First, the main character and male lead are kind of s*upid. ... more>>
Spoiler

There's one part in the beginning where they both are almost dying and struggling after the MC picks up the ML (who is a leopard cub due to reasons) and they get helped out by this dude called Eric. Basically the ML is a carnivore animal who eats herbivores, and this deer guy called Eric is the one who helps them out and he's a herbivore. Both the MC and ML are kinda incapable of doing anything by themselves and they constantly get helped out by him. But he's not even a second male lead, he just appears there for a while to help them out then disappears.

Then later on, while the ML is in his defenseless cub form and the MC can't do anything, the ML goes on board the enemy boat and gets captured. Later he defends it by saying he's scouting out the enemy or something. Okay... so the author has set up all this hinting you are a defenseless person but now you can infiltrate enemy place? Well okay author. Suddenly the MC also pulls out a stun baton and whacks people and helps them navigate the boat through a dangerous reef. I don't even know how the MC can just navigate it by looking at a map but the enemy can't. Like wut?

There's also one part where the MC falls asleep in a cave which belongs to a bear, and the bear almost wanted to r*pe her / eat her cuz he thinks she's a herbivore. Like... he already showed hostility to you and you just FALL ASLEEP NEXT TO HIM?? I wanted to facepalm. By the way the bear takes her bag which ends up being sold and passed around and sent to conveniently the enemy ship which they infiltrated. So of course she gets it back.

Like... okay. I get the not being able to barter for your bag when the seller who got it from the bear was trying to sell it. She's just an original teenager, she can't haggle like grown ups at markets. But the bag conveniently being bought by the enemy and she gets it back? Like wow deus ex machina.

[collapse]

The author is really biased to the main characters which is okay but kinda squicky at times. She doesn't put that much thought into the world build and it feels very cold.

Spoiler

For example, at the epilogue, when the MC has a baby with the ML, the baby grows up into a carnivore of course. Then when the ML is talking with the child and training the child to hunt, the child is like "well okay you can't tell mum I hunted some deer" and the author is like "because the MC had friends with the deer community, but other herbivores could be hunted to be eaten". And it's like... did you just imply that her son probably killed and ate Eric who saved the MC and ML??? There's also the whole ML being a yandere and he doesn't like her crossing worlds to see her parents. Like okay, she gives up completing her college education, and even has to give up seeing her parents. The author just kills them off with the father dying of disease and then the mother becomes sick and the author literally writes "Fortunately, she soon died."

[collapse]

It's like the author doesn't care about any character except her MC and ML. Which really makes for some irritating things.

Then for the ML, he's just okay. He's a typical male yandere and he's not that great. You'd expect him as a cub to have some mofu mofu cute moments but not really. The good points about him is that he pampers her for example
Spoiler

she blows up his house while experimenting with bombs (yes bombs don't ask me how she knows about how to make BOMBS as a normal teenager) but he says it's okay since it was built for her and he builds another better house for her and him.

[collapse]

The reason why I rate it 4 stars is because the ending is quite satisfying. It's hinted they live together in comfort and happiness for a long time and it is quite satisfying, you see that their village is saved by the MC's cheat knowledge
Spoiler

of crafting bombs

[collapse]
That's what I mean by the author is biased btw. SO MUCH HANDWAVE.

Also for the transmigrating part, don't bother, it's just a convenient tool and it's never fully explained why the MC gets a space or whatever. It does save her but it's never explained in detail.

Overall this story is okay. If you like male yandere, only focus on main character, don't mind some lampshading you can read this and feel satisfied. If you want something good to excite you, this is not it. It's just a "not bad" kind of read. Also thanks to the translator, the translation is very clean and I had no problems reading it. The sentences flowed very well and I never felt any phrasing was awkard. <<less

A well written transmigration story in my opinion, though it is different from a lot of other transmigration stories.

Overall summery: Following primarily the human protagonist who starts her journey of survival as a teenager and whom is eventually courted by a predator (resembling a beast-man in other stories) from the world ruled by the law of the Jungle.

The protagonist is a seemingly normal girl in terms of physical capacity, skills, intellectual and emotional intelligence, (though she does posses a trump card as you will find out in the first... more>> chapters). She struggles with surviving and dealing with the cultural and moral clashes of her own and the new world she has found herself in.

Recommended for mature audiences: because of violence and s*xual content. It's at the very leas R-15 and at times skirts the R-18.

Concerning the Yandere tag: The Male Lead (guess three times who it is) is a predator, along with this nature comes certain overbearing characteristics. However, without giving any spoilers, I'd like to point out the excellent title of this novel.

Character development: Definitely, and a realistic one at that in both direction and amount considering the time frame.

A good read in all. <<less

Eng Translation is up to ch 68 as of today and I got impatient and read the last few chapters through Google Translate. It's a good ending!! She goes back to Ryan. She and Ryan can freely go back through both worlds and they have a healthy and strong son!! I cried for the last ch though because her parents passed away due to an illness and old age too. So Ryan comforts our female lead by saying that he'll die after her. I'm just like noooo. Dammit!! The tears!!

The story itself is pretty good. However, the female lead here is an extreme Mary Sue. She has heaps of the most random knowledge and skills. Reads one book years ago on some obscure subject that has really nothing to do with her and has no real life experience in that field whatsoever? Guess now that means she's an expert! It's like the whole universe is centered around her. Unexplained phenomenons happen left and right exclusively to the benefit of female lead, gaping plot holes that appear when the plot... more>> needs to advance but the author is can't be bothered to come up with any reasoning, characters dying for the sole reason so she could have her convenient happy ending and so on. I decided to give this 5 stars despite this having some world building issues and deus ex machina sh*t happening here and there in the novel. Here's why: I love, love, love that the author kept the characters with their original character settings. This isn't a fluffy story. MC wants to go back home. ML wants her as a wife. He does questionable things to keep her with him because he is literally a beast and remains one right till the end of the story. I really enjoyed this part.... more>> There's no unreasonable, boy changes everything about his personality because LOVE scenario. This only happens in fairytales imo. And I don't like them.

There's so much delicious violence and it is so intense! I honestly hated a part of the MC because she was such a bundle of conflicting emotions but it also made her such a tangible, real character to me. She was an immature, scared teenager thrust into a world full of violence and she just wants to go home and gambles with her life every (rolls eyes) which way to return. I found some of her decisions annoying but again, she's just a spoilt immature brat. The fact that she didn't go off and die the first few minutes into this horrible world already makes her a badass.

Overall, apart from some deus ex machina sh*t and why she has a space and the point of her degree when it doesn't have anything to do with her transmigration and just how damned OP the ML is when he eventually visits MC's world, the rest of the novel was very gripping and enjoyable. Here's why: I had very low expectations from the ML when I was reading this. I prepared myself for some horrible scenarios. But was pleasantly surprised by the story. I realized why the title was named 'Gentle Beast'. Because, if the MC ended up with any other beast-man in that horrible world, she would either be ripped to shreds by associating with the vegetarians or be f*cked to death by the carnivorous ones. The whole reason she survived long enough to go back home was the ML. Honestly, I much rather read more about the ML than MC. Not to say that she was wrong in any way. She stuck to her decisions. She didn't give in to the ML. She was intelligent. She was very compassionate. However, for the majority of the story, she was also a hormonal, immature teenager with communication issues. I found her very skittish. But who could remain level-headed in her situation, unless they were a sage? Actually, I found her alright until this one scene where I completely despised her.
Spoiler

So MC finds out ML lied to keep her with him. Note, at this point, they're already in a relationship. And she snaps at him with, wait for it...'Well, I didn't want to be in a relationship with a leopard' and she runs away after that. ML stays with those horrible words for 3 whole years.

[collapse]
I mean, he's made all sorts of concessions for her but the only thing he can't change about himself is his damn race. How humiliating must it have been for him? Invalidating his whole identity as a creature because of a tiff? Yeah no, I get that she was 16 but if you judge her from modern standards as she should be, that was so horrible. But it was also in a highly charged, impulsive moment during a mental breakdown. So, I don't hate her. It is just a mistake she made. Just like the ML made mistakes. They're both just flawed and victims of circumstance tbh.

Hahaha. Now, I'm going to go on a rant. Beware.

  • There were many, many people complaining about the ML and I get it. He's a bad one. But according to what standards? Are you judging him according to human standards? Because there's tons of people complaining about:
    • Stockholm Syndrome
    • Dub-con (They don't actually do the do until she becomes an adult)
  • To them, I say, meet my finger! READ THE DAMN TAGS! He's a beast-man from a tribe that shares women. The fact that he doesn't r*pe her/ share her with the whole tribe is already a heaven defying thing in his world. He was able to resist doing that purely based on his strength. MC would have lost her life a dozen times without the ML. He's been taking care of her every need. The only thing he doesn't want her to do is leave. And yes, this is bad on his part. He lies to keep her with him. However, the MC is so immature and doesn't really discuss with him in a level-headed manner. She is very skittish and runs away at the drop of a hat. The ML really doesn't have a way to progress any type of relationship with her unless he keeps her in a cage and makes her spend time with him. He's a giant d*ck because of this and guess what, this is in his character settings. He is not a fluffy, cuddly beast. Although, he did provide that service (cuddles) for his wife on multiple occasions.
  • There's also other types of complainers:
    • ML is not yandere enough.
    • ML is too much of a yandere.
  • To this, I say, Hahahahaha. I mean, what is this too much and too less? Isn't this up to the author? How are they supposed to know just the right amount of yandere for everyone? I just about went on a rage-induced rampage in the reviews and comments section of this book. It was so infuriating for me. I mean, if they are such an authority on the right amount of yandere, why don't they write a book and we'll see how good it will turn out? I read this as objectively as I could and I loved it. I didn't bring in a set of requirements while reading it and see if it met them and judged the book based on it regardless of the requirements fitting the genre. That's such a horrible way to read a book. shudders. I'm going to give a play by play below:
    • Spoiler
      • Guy hits on MC, tries to abduct her. ML literally wipes his face in the dirt, mocks his ability as a male and leaves.
      • Guy stabs MC. ML goes on a rampage, claws guy's neck and leaves him for dead.
      • Guy comes back alive and challenges ML. ML accepts the challenge and beats him half-dead and they tumble off a cliff. Guy ends up pinned under rocks and resigns himself to death, asking ML to kill him already. ML sits on those rocks pinning guy's legs while swinging his leopard tail and says, 'Sorry, I don't fight with invalids' or something to that equivalent. Hahahaha. I found this to be his sexiest moment. He was so badass. He is an arrogant, powerful alpha. He found it beneath himself to finish him off. In his world, it basically meant, 'if you have that ability, come for me, I'll wipe the floor with you again'
      [collapse]
  • For me, ML was vindictive in a proportionate way. He dealt with circumstances as the situation deemed fit. It was 'yandere enough' for me. Let's just end it at that.
  • The dismissive way the parents were dealt with at the end. I admit, it was a bit jarring. However, the cold 'fortunately she died' bit is taken way out of context.
    Spoiler

The author didn't give enough detail on MC's interactions with her parents considering how the entire book was about how she wanted to go back to her loving parents. So, it was a bit too abrupt to go from getting their consent to get married to Papa got an incurable disease, hence, died and Mama was in too much pain. The 'fortunately she died' comment is from the ML who is a giant dick. MC was running herself ragged trying to take care of her grieving mother. She was literally becoming skin and bones. ML was not a fan of that, but he didn't stop her. You expect him to not make vicious comments about that when he doesn't even have the concept of parents in his life? He was independent since he was a 1 year old. Want him to offer condolences? Pfft! Expecting too much?

Excellent translation quality; Minor issues with context sometimes (like, some phrases didn't translate well). <<less

Well, if you put yourself in their perspective and according to their characters, then you'll understand why the characters make those choices. The author made the situation has the background to cover for it.

At last few chapters, it seems rushed.

The male lead is very yandere, I think and the female lead is very accepting of it. That's all about it, the story doesn't give warmth or any other feelings, except for few moments where you felt like hating the male lead for his selfishness.

This is a pretty good quick read, ML is domineering but very caring. A good fluffy read a little sad at the end cuz ... more>>

her parents passed away...

I wish it explained what exactly the existence of her space was... but as most "Golden fingers" are its just conveniently there no questions asked ◝ (͡° ʖ̯ ͡°) ◜

I need a sequel man I wanna see what Ryan decided to do with the knowledge he learned with the humans & what he's going to do with the guns n grenades he brought back. Maybe he's going to develop his clans forces into a proper military?

Also Idk why this one has a r*pe tag, aside from your usual random pe*vert character you would usually see in a lot of novels that trys to force FL no one was able to get that far, ML might grope her from time to time but he never actually forced her & I don't recall there being any r*pe scenes with background characters either. ◝ (͡° ʖ̯ ͡°) ◜ <<less

Okay. This... wasn't really bad. (omg, was supposed to put 2 stars, if the rating isn't 2 stars, sorry!)

Passable. Was here for the shifter gimmick, kinda disappointed with the lack of details in the scenes, rooted for her escape and overall was just... fine with the ending.

Ryan did lots of shitty things, but he isn't a human, so his beliefs, culture and background are extremely different, but that doesn't mean his actions are justified, just that I can understand why he did those.

This was a fine time-passer.

The novel isn't that good, but it's okay. For me, the saving point of this book is the ending.
Spoiler

I like how the two worlds connected and how MC showed her world to ML. I didn't think she would be able to go back in her own world so that's a plus.

[collapse]

The plot is good, but the execution lacks enthusiasm. The MC is a damsel in distress, there's not even one time I read her not crying and in the middle of the book I was so so tempted to drop this. Plus, the book gave importance to how delicate, pretty, petite she is- how her eyes moistened and long lashes fluttered. I skimmed through every part of that. Like, ok we get it, but mentioning it every chapter is very redundant.

ML is strong, cold and possessive. The typical overbearing CEO but its a beastman.

Overbearing CEO X Damsel in distress, what could go wrong? This is why I said the execution is not that good, it made it seem like a typical novel, it could've been good if the Author put nore personality in MC and ML other than being a crybaby and possessive.

Translation is okay but its off sometimes. There's also a lot of unanswered question. 2/5. Got the stars wrong.

This is a short, pleasant, no hassle read. Our FL lead falls out of a bus window and ends up in a world where humans are extinct. She's surrounded by beasts on all sides, left with limited help from her 'space'. Her adventures keep you interested and her struggles feel very plausible. You empathize with her situation on several occasions.

I feel Ou had the potential to be a really great FL but ended up just a bit short of my expectations. It feels like the author positioned her as a... more>> kickass MC who's not necessarily OP but can take care of herself.. But lost the thread mid way. I liked how the relationship between the leads developed. Especially, how Ryan made an effort to accept and understand her perspectives because that is such a rarity even amongst human beings. The relationship issues that came from dating a 'beast' were drawn up well. And that ending was just special. Definitely worth a read. <<less

I'm torn between giving this 3 stars or 4 stars (in the end, I give this 4 stars) because although the premise is quite good but some things in this story made me annoyed. The most annoying part is MC's s*upidity.

Spoiler
  • She decided to make an explosive for self protection. Later because of her carelessness, Holden (the wolf clan's patriarch) came to know about it and offered ML 50 females in exchange for MC. When it didn't success, the wolf clan attacked the leopard clan while ML was away. Because of it, MC bravely used the explosive to chase away the wolf clan, sucessfully attracted other leopard's greed. In the end, MC and ML agreed to teach other leopard to make an explosive but restricted the use only for defense. Really? Introduce an explosive to a primitive beast with cruel nature? While they're still alive (and also while ML was still the clan's leader), ML and MC maybe could control the use of those explosives. But when they were dead (or when he was no longer the leader), will they still be able to control it? I don't think so.
  • MC overheard ML and his subordinate's conversation about how they were deceived her about Pat's death. Instead of concealing her emotion and tried to run away from ML while he went hunting, MC chose to confront him about it directly and sucessfully made ML angry and confined her in their house.
  • After 3 years, MC came back to the beast world but she was afraid to meet ML again. However, she still rescued an injured leopard cub and even accidentally called him "Tao Tao" (ML's pet name given by MC). Wasn't it deliberately giving a clue for ML to find her? And of course because of it ML could find her.
[collapse]

I also didn't fond of ML either. He was so manipulative and often forced himself to MC but I also know that it was part of his nature. In his eyes as a beast, his treatment towards MC was already considered as gentle and considerate but still I want to rant about him.

Spoiler
  • When they met at the first time and she rescued him from the wolf clan, ML lied about his real identity to MC. As a smart beast, he should know that it will lead MC to the danger because he was hunted down by many other beasts. But he stubbornly clinged himself to MC because somehow her space could help ML regained his strength. In the end, she almost died in the hand of one of his clansman.
  • ML knew that by bringing MC back to his clan would put MC in precareous situation because leopard clan always shared their female. But he still brought her there and in the end, she almost got r*ped by his clansman.
  • He lied to MC about Pat's death because he didn't want her to go back to her world. After MC found out about it, he still didn't want to let go of MC and even confined her in his house so she couldn't run away. He also wanted to ra*e her.
  • When MC came back after 3 years of separation, ML confined her in the cave and repeatedly had s*x with her day and night for 5 days without letting MC got a proper rest.
  • He deliberately kept MC away from their own child because of jealousy. He was even jealous of MC's cat.
[collapse]

Thankfully, ML's treatment towards MC got better after they went together to MC's world. He even let MC visited her parent from time to time and even proposed to her like a normal human being.

As for the ending, I didn't hate it because I love happy ending but I'm a bit disappointed because some things still left unexplained till the end, such as:

Spoiler
  • What was MC's space and why was she suddenly got the ability to go to the beast world?
  • Why did ML's body change into a cub after being injured by Holden? And why MC's space had the ability to make ML gained is strengh?
  • When ML went with MC to her world, he managed to get a gun from black market and even bought her a diamond ring. Till the end, ML never told MC about the things that he has done in order to get those things and left it vague.
  • What happened to Holden? And also Pat?
