Asch=Dahl, a Necromancer who had lived for over 200 years, is an incomparably good-looking youngster. However, he can’t read the room, he’s narcissistic, he provokes people spontaneously, he hates losing, and he’s selfish. All in all, he has a bad personality.

Because of that, he neither has friends, nor is he popular with the ladies. However, because the person himself has a needlessly strong mental fortitude and positivity, he doesn’t reflect on it at all.

What suddenly came into such Asch=Dahl’s life was, a request from Hogner Magic Academy’s Board Chairman for him to be teacher. Intrigued, he accepted the job……in search of his future lover.

Will Asch=Dahl be able to live the rose-coloured teacher’s life he imagined?

Yes, I know c7 is rather early when it comes to leaving a review but I feel a need to get things off my chest.

Translations for this novel is fine but could be better due to how...."rough?" some of the sentences seem to sound. Phrases could be worded better but nothing too major.

Now actually moving on to the important bit. I'm 7 chapters in. Just the 7 chapters gives me a good idea of how much of a dumpsterfire this novel will be.... more>>

MC's first actual interaction with other human beings is when he makes his appearance as a new teacher in the academy. The reactions of the students is rather ridiculous and over-exaggerated. Basically, they're unhappy that the teacher who they thought would teach them was being replaced by the MC. So they go on to sh*t on the MC for no reason. Literally just tells the MC, someone they've only just met, to f*ck off. Apparently the students are supposed to be nobles as well which further contrasts their childish attitude. Finally in c7, a girl decides to challenge the MC to a duel. Seriously? Do none of these characters have a single brain cell? He's being appointed as a teacher ffs. Whats even more ridiculous is that she risks being kicked out of the academy if she loses. why? what even the point in any of this? Everything just seems so forced. And I can already tell that it's the author's intention to milk the sh*t out of reactions considering the next chapter being titled as "Shock".

Basically the girl who is considered to be really studious, risks the chance of being kicked out of the academy, to fight a teacher for 0 reason. boring, forced, predictable. Nothing promising.

Overall, nonsensical situations and characters. Already can't hide the disappointment. MC isn't evil, he seems more like an edgy teen that's supposed to be 200 yet cant act his age. I see nothing "savage" about the MC that the comments seem to point out. Conflict is way too forced and doesn't even make sense. Idk it's just bad lmao.

Ik I'm way too early to be this critical about a novel so i'll continue reading. Apparently it's supposed to get better so we'll see. <<less

It's not that good but it's also not that bad. Probably translation miscommunication problem. By chapter 10, I can actually enjoy this.

A fair warning though, if you have been spoiled with masterpiece works, this probably won't appeal to you.

Honestly, I was expecting a cool main character from the reviews, but he’s just a loser who doesn’t do anything when he’s insulted. He gets insulted multiple times in the first few chapters by his maid for god sake, and I know it was supposed to be for comedic relief, but I personally think that it’s disgusting how you make the MC out to be some badass necromancer when I’m reality he’s a pathetic creep who allows his students, and his maid to insult him.

The beginning of this novel did not impress me very much, but it gets better as it goes on because many things are not as they initially seem.

The turning point for me was when

Ah yes. A 200 year old necromancer that acts like a hormonal teenager, going to a school to find his future wife. A japanese classic. Also, they walk all over him, he's nothing like the description. Really bottom of the barrel stuff, of course, in my own opinion.

Great characters, some has depth, some don't. Think of the story premise as a sub-plot and the past of our MC as the main plot will make the story so much more enjoyable.

As of chapter 150, the whole school teacher and past-reminiscing feel 50-50 and I don't know which path the story will focus on.

Well, the way the sentences are written might be lost a little bit through translation, but the way the author write and set things up are very pleasing to read, and that stay. So give it... more>> a go, pick yourself a favourite character and see how they change our MC.

Here are some spoilers I think doesn't make or break but are really interesting

Spoiler

Mira Estheim: rescued MC from his prison, made by MC's teacher. She's the maid that Mira is modeled after. The main character of the second arc. She was a contributor to the reason why MC created Mira the doll maid. She unfortunately met her end after saving Delta Laplace, who went on to become MC's first student. Author went all out with this character when setting up her story arc. The structure of the story itself (not the plot) is fairly convoluted, which is very pleasing to read

Spoiler

Mira the doll maid: she can think but doesn't have feeling, MC is on his way to give her emotion, to truly make her human. I wonder why. Story might as well is being told through her. And I bet she and Mira Estheim are the main heroines

[collapse]

Spoiler

arch Bishop Samon: first arc Villain, sad ending for a sad character, some how our MC respect him. Also, he might be Lily's father.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Julia: died early on, she helped creating a situation where we actually get a glimpse into the mind of MC

Spoiler

Aschl Dahl: main character, cursed with immortality, in his life time, he lost his first love to a disease, lost his wife to old age, and lost his companion? Friend? Child? (Someone very close to him) to war, close enough that he committed such horrible act that pretty much made him the Villain of the second arc. He created Mira after that event, modeled after Mira Estheim and is currently trying to give this doll human emotion. He doesn't really have a goal, he's immortal so he's really afraid of being sealed away. Curiosity is his biggest strength. And dude is hella funny, not as a funny person, but just watching him being witty is pretty funny. Not exactly an over powered protagonist, while he is strong, he's too careless and his enemies aren't weak either.

So right now I can say its pretty much a copy/rewrite of (Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor). Also mixed with a little bit of (The Principle of a Philosopher by Eternal Fool "Asley").

MC is a dark mage teaching from an unique and unheard of viewpoint in a magic academy. The students pushback at first but slowly become interested to mc's teaching.

Some people complain about his maid insulting him but its a comedy back and forth shtick. MC makes this life-like automaton (The Maid) named Mira around 70 years ago... more>> in story. She is emotionless and is the typical deadpan straight man to the eccentric MC who doesnt understand others common sense. Not bad but meh.

I'd give it 20 chapters before you drop it. It uses the same elements or story points from the 2 I mentioned above and it probably want change from a 3/5 from beginning to end. <<less
