Maybe it's because the lack of depth into the ML and FL's story, but I can't really feel the emotions between the leads.

Why did the FL loved the ML so much that she sacrificed herself for him ? How did they come to love each other ? How did they met ?

I guess it's because there's so many questions unanswered that I am unable to understand their love for each other.

This starts off with the MC dying. Still it's not all that sad and it's short and well written...

It's neither practical nor all that deep. Plot is very simple and straight-forward and everything is spelt out. But I'm still a sucker for this kind of story coz this is what I always wished the protagonists of a love story set in ancient times would be like. I'm actually quite surprised to see I'm not alone and there's actually a huge market for a sappy love story even when the plot... more>> is wafer thin.

So, yeah, I'm a sap and I'll cry you a river. So, bring it on! <<less

Someone should take responsibility on how I became a sobbing mess with this story

Its too good. Too good at making people cry! This story is just so heart wrenching, tragic, happy yet painful at the same time.

For the people looking for a good love story, you should read this. With tissues beside you of course.

Definitely a 10/10 and one of the best short stories I've read in my life. Thank you so much for translating this and letting of us read this masterpiece. ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ Currently still sobbing :)

I have been seeing this in various lists at NU but I know it's going to make me cry so I was avoiding it. But gosh. It's so good. The translation was done very well which added to the feels. T_T

I think for him, he thinks that his goal was more important than their lives. Since the ex-emperor was a tyrant, he needed to be replaced.

When he decided to start the rebellion, he knows that he's sacrificing her for his ambition and goal. But he also knew that once he started, he won't be able to stop the rebellion for one person. She was a pawn that is abandoned maybe even before they got married. She was no one, a songstress who has no family who would make things more complicated when she becomes the hostage.

I think he only felt feelings for her when he started hearing her hardships under the current emperor. I think everything is assuming that she was r*ped but I think she wasn't. It's a historical novel and chastity is very important to them. If they r*ped her, there is a higher chance that she would've committed su*cide. But, I'm pretty sure she was beaten and humiliated and tortured during her capture.

The emperor then saw her sacrifice for him and his ambition and he can't feel anything else for anyone else. He prolly played their moments together over and over in his head and he realized how much she loved him and sacrificed everything just to wait for him.

This is a very sad story so you should think twice if you don't want to shed a tear or two. O_O <<less

I cried buckets but it's just so hauntingly beautiful short story that will keep you in the feels from the first chapter till the end. I would say it is a happy ending in it's own way.

I would really like to know the history of Sang Be and the Marquis. Even though some reviews say that she was just a political pawn for the Marquis, I don't think it's all just guilt on his part, the way he suffered during his reign and the way he longs for her. I can partly understand how he can sacrifice her during the war and why she chose to bear the pain and sacrifice herself. It's not just ambition to be the King but to free the people from a tyrant King. Maybe I'm a romantic but I choose to believe he loves her in his way.

Aigoooo, the last chapter is very short, sweet and a tear or two jerker. In this world, you really are lucky if ever you meet someone who is faithful to you and who loves you so much. I hope we all find that someone in our lives... ISANG MALAKING SANA ALL T___T

Just thinking about this story makes me tear up.

The story is short and bittersweet. I didn't expect to like this story, thinking it not to my taste, but I was surprised at how easily I became invested in the MC and the ML. The story is told so nonchalantly by Sang Ge, as though all the things she suffered through were just a passing fancy not worthy of remembering.

Although you aren't entirely certain to what extent she suffered before she jumped off the tower, it's still easy to feel bad... more>> for Sang Ge even though she glosses over it all so easily. I think the worst part of the story was having to watch Zi Wu walk through life without Sang Ge. It's a trope that is quite common imo, but rarely well done. Although it's short, both characters' personalities are able to shine through and the story is easily able to grasp at your emotions.

The ending was what really did it for me though. It was so simple, and something that is also overly used in a lot of sad romance stories, but I think the journey to get to the end was so much more meaningful compared to other stories who try to use this trope. That being said, I find that this author tends to use this "parted in death and one character is stuck longing for x years" quite often...? Lol but I'd say Mulberry Song does it the best.

Anyways if you wanna spend your night crying then this is a great story to read lmao. <<less

Mulberry Song is that one story I will always re-read again to experience the same tingle it always left in my heart.

Beautifully written, wonderfully translated.

I love how we can see from Sang Ge's perspective that the "dandy marquis" 's feeling he held for her is not limited to keep his facade only. It is real, alive, and will always bloom. It gives me a certain mellow joy to know that at least Sang Ge finally knows that in the Male Lead's heart, Sang Ge stood above all; Even his ambitions.

It's very bittersweet. The story is very short and every single word of it is amazing. You can get a real sense of the male lead and the main character personalities through only 4 chapters. I almost wish there is a cliche reincarnation ending or something (or not since this ending is perfect) so the 2 characters can spend their lives happily together.

It seems that this is considered a beautiful plot, but I think doing this to yourself is a horrible, self-inflicted torture. If there were ghosts, I think they would wish for their loved ones to move on with life and be as happy.

So whether or not you will enjoy this story is based entirely on your own view of the world, don't read this if you don't like the premise.... but it is unlikely I will be able to warn anyone before they read it. = ( <<less

Short and bittersweet. I usually like to write detailed reviews, but the less you know about this story, the better.

It's only 4 chapters and from the point of view of a wife who dies for her husband, and the years she watches over him after her death.

The translation quality is excellent and captures the feeling and atmosphere of the story very well. If you have a half-hour to spare, I highly recommend reading it.

Short and full of bittersweet love. Recommended to you.

How I wished the entire time for the female lead to be reincarnated or something like the usual plot twist in the other novel, but noo she stayed dead till the end waiting for the male lead and seeing how he live after she died, which is heart-breaking. And finally he did come back to her. "I'm home."

Spoken simply and forever, and my poor heart just.....T^T

Thank you for sharing this novel ♡

I really love this story. It's short and poignant. I'm glad I found it later, because if I had to wait for more chapters, my stress would be growing exponentially day by day as I waited for the last chapter. Without being explicit, stripping away all unnecessary words, what it leaves behind is a beautiful and bittersweet tale of regret and longing. I do believe this will become one of my favorites.
