A lightning strike transmigrated Zu An into another world. In that world, he was known as the tr*sh of Brightmoon City, but for some reason, he was married to the gorgeous and highly talented daughter of the Chu clan?

What? I’m a transmigrator but I don’t have any talent for cultivation? Why are there so many people out for my life? And most importantly of all, how in the world did I get on the bed of my sister-in-law on my wedding night?!

It was a nightmarish starting point for Zu An, but fortunately, as a famed keyboard warrior in his previous life, the world gave him a keyboard in this life too so that he could turn things around. Through his trolling and flaming, he shall stand atop the corpses of his burned enemies and rise to the top of the world!

As of this moment, I'm currently up to the last released chapter.

My opinion of this novel is, and had been from the start, unchanging: It's a fairly good novel, with high entertainment value... IF you're reading it for "the right reason".

As far as I'm concerned, this novel is what you could classify as a light read, a "palate cleanser" for novels. It's not profound, it's not plot heavy whatsoever, the cultivation aspect is not the main aspect either... The entertainment value of Keyboard Immortal is the easygoing story and the... more>> various situations that crop up around and/or because of the MC.

You don't have to read far into the novel to decide whether to stick to it or let go of it. If feel like it's entertaining and fun at the start, if you enjoy the MC and how goes about things, if you like his pursue of women, if you find his attitude and character amusing... Then stick with it. If you don't, drop it.

Don't wait around if you're waiting for him to be all powerful, don't expect him to "mature" and suddenly give much more attention to cultivating and becoming more powerful. Even of those things come to pass, you'll be bitter with the shenanigans that will happen till that point comes.

I enjoy novels like I Shall Seal The Heavens and Desolate Era and others like them, but Keyboard Immortal is definitely NOT EVEN TRYING to go in a similar direction, vein or whatever. It's very much just trying to be an entertaining story without deeper meaning.

That's at least what I think of it so far. <<less

Latest rating: 5/5

Chapters:

1-200 (5/5)

200-400 (2/5)

Spoiler

The end of the Brightmoon city arc at around the 300s was where I gave a 3/5 rating because of how simply Sang Hong was manipulating everyone in the palm of his hand, while only Zu An seemingly had an inkling as to what was really going on - the situation made it seem like all the secondary characters were s*upid. Looking back in hindsight, if we evaluate Brightmoon to a city far removed from politics and renowned cultivators then it makes sense, but the simplicity of the manipulation had me reeling while reading that arc.

[collapse]

400-1100+ (5/5)

The consistency of the writing has improved drastically and although there are a lot of loose ends that remain in the story, each unsolved problem will definitely lead to wondrous boner inducing adventures for our waifu collecting keyboard trolling MC. This novel is definitely one of the best harem stories. Each heroine gets her time to shine and you grow attached and addicted to the pursuit of reading Zu An solving their problems one by one.

Harem spoilers:

Spoiler

He has 9-10 girls right now who he has had s*x with and also mutually love each other. Just based on potential upcoming introductions, there's around 5-6 more women he has yet to pursue or there's ambiguity with their relationship. I want to make this clear as well, none of his women are thrown away. He technically only has 2 wives at this point though - Chu Chuyan (forced divorce) & Big Mianman (lived fantasy married life for decades?). It's weird to see the first girl actually fall a step behind. Pei Mianman's relationship with Zu An is obviously at the top right now, although his student-master relationship is also a bit hard to evaluate. Hard to rank everyone else.

[collapse]

The flow between romance, comedy, mystery and fighting is in a very good state. The way problems are solved are either funny because of his system powers or pretty eloquent because of how smart the MC has become. I can read this novel everyday and not get tired of it so I'm giving it a 5/5. <<less

The thing about this novel is that there's always a smile on your face when reading this novel.

Enjoyment 10/10

Story 7/10

Character interaction 9/10.

System is also quite fleshed out.

The only problem I have with this story is the harem is slowly getting too big.

Spoilers ahead.

Confirmed harem members so far.

Spoiler

1. His wife (had sex)

2. Wife's personal maid (elf girl) (had sex)

3. Wife's best friend (big chest girl) (had sex)

4. Zheng Dan (had sex)

5. Oiran (Can't have s*x unique cultivation) (had Fellatio)

6. Demon girl (ntr) (had sex)

Heavy hinted harem members:

1. Wife's sister (author waiting for her to grow up)

2. Mother-in-law (author afraid of ban) (f*cking Chinese censorship got "Reverend Insanity" banned🤬)

3. Wife's other sister (yes there are three of them)

4. Oiran's master (same cultivation can't have sex)

5. Lvl. 9 principal

6. Teacher who plays song.

7. Medicine chick (had kiss)

Low hinted harem mebers:

1. Sang Qing's sister

2. Emperor's son's fiance

3. Women who paid him 10000 gold coins for saving her in the mountains.

[collapse]

And the harem members are still increasing as we speak.

There's this portion of the story where he transitions from his home town to the capital and because the MC is too weak every interactions he has it feels like deus ex. It last like 100 chapters then author fixes it. <<less

I don't know if my humor is bad or just this novel can't make me laught not like "Universe's Absolute Boss" Novel.

After chapter 233 Im dropping this, all things fall for him. Godly Grandma that look stunning guide him now? It became a generic wanna be genius MC. When the problem of his little rod was solve his semi - normal brain turned into a thoughts of humping holes.

I know it was just for a comedic reason but when MC thoughts of him touching his Mothers wife is just cringe.... more>> All things is solved by s*x now that his Junior is fixed.

The most turn off here is that the scene is just gone in a flash like boom he bang his wife then boom 3 chapter later he bang his wife maid snow. Just for the sake of... Let's say plot?

He became so dumb after his rod was fix..... Thank You. <<less

Honestly this is a nice comedy fic. It doesn't go over the top with CN tropes and keeps old characters relevant through the whole series.

Unlike other cultivation novels, this is a slow pace one. A story more focused on character development than gaining power for the sake of power. The MC is smart, the story has a good fleshed out system of power and each arc has something new to read.

You won't run into typical villains, but instead fleshed out ones. Where a few of them turn over to the... more>> MCs side... Though be warned that this is more of a harem/comedy story.

It was a fun read at first thanks to the MC's shameless antics, but I felt like it went downhill after he cured his impotence. The humor became repetitive, with a lot of jokes being repeated over and over again. The main reason I was reading this was the comedy, so this was quite disappointing.

MC's ever-growing harem got very contrived. I mean, I'm not expecting in a harem webnovel to be realistic, but come on -- Guess how the author kickstarted basically every s*xual relationship the MC has: ... more>>

The galaxy brains of the villains didn't help either. They all thought that throwing their wives at the MC to seduce him would be a great idea, which, predictably, always backfired and ended up with them falling in love with him. Gee, they sure showed him. Oh, and the lengthy infodumps about Chinese history were really tiresome. The author seems to think that the people reading his comedy/harem/ecchi webnovel are an audience with a thirst for knowledge regarding ancient Chinese dynasties, emperors, and generals. <<less

I'm surprised that no one linked this to Womanizing mage, it's actually pretty similiar except this one has less s*x scenes, less harem (at least until the latest one I've read), and better flow of story especially in terms of cultivation and fight scenes.

The first 200~300 chapters were so funny to read, it wasn't like the usual Chinese webnovel faceslap scenes at all and I've actually enjoyed it so much

The later chapters were actually quite weird to read and was also rather bland (plus there were lots of plot holes),... more>> but I've already grew so fond of the novel's world setting and characters so I actually enjoyed it quite a bit plus I had the romance to look forward into.

Overall was a very decent read for me, finished the whole 600 chapters in less than a week and was totally invested to this. I was truly s**ked to the story despite the flaws and some disappointing scenes.

I'm REAAAALLY hoping the author or the novel publisher don't suddenly cut this novel midway, because from what I've seen, at the rate of the story going this is going to be easily a 2k+ chapters novel <<less

In all honesty... this is way better than I thought when I picked it up. As many have stated, this is not your regular cultivation novel. Instead, it is a more humoristic take on the genre.

The first 150 chapters or so are clearly more parody-based than anything. I really laughed way more than I'd expect earlier on. After these chapters, Keyboard Immortal takes on a more serious tone. It still is funny, but it isn't the focus anymore.

However, it didn't diminish the quality of the work. And some moments are... more>> still funny.

Moreover, the characters feel more realistic.

Spoiler

As an example, the infamous "young master from another city" actually is scared when it is revealed to him that the MC has a master, and decides to run instead of treating it as baseless rumors and jumping to his death. That's the kind of thing that makes it better. The antagonists aren't people that had a brick dropped on their heads after their birth. Except maybe Cuck McQian, but he deserved it

[collapse]

Ultimately, I recommend it wholeheartedly. <<less

It's pretty nice for a daily read. Props to the translator for a great translation and for giving 2 chapters a day.

Pros

    • The MC is intelligent (at some periods?) and doesn't do dumb stuff for no reason
    • Harem members all have distinct personalities and backgrounds rather than being copy pasted from a single template.
    • The comedy. The main allure of this novel is by far the hilarity of the MC and his trolling.
Cons

    • System isn't really used well.. like at all. We barely see it being used other than for comedic situations when he could and should gain power from it, which leads me to the next point.
    • MC is weak. He's always bailed out by other people. I would be okay with this up to a certain point but it's honestly getting annoying now.
    • The pacing is disgustingly slow. For me this is by far the biggest downside of this novel. Some random incident always occurs when the MC does anything. MC walking home from the academy? Three chapters of drama from it. MC being talked to by in laws? Two chapters for the conversation and another two for the reactions. All of the little things stack up which leads to the pacing being garbage. At this point I'm just hoping we get major plot progression before chapter 200 as there are a lot of plot points foreshadowed by the author which could take hundreds of chapters to resolve... each.
If the novel wasn't so funny it would be a 2-3. The comedy brings it up to a 4, and it's the main reason I'd recommend reading this.

Below average novel.

10% politics

10% s*upidity

... more>> 10% trolling

10% cultivation

60% skirt-chasing

Basically it's catching one girl after another. It's full of cliches like aphrodisiac plot, and saving crippled girl by dual cultivation. It's full of lazy plot, atleast aphrodisiac plotline was repeated 3-4 times in first 400 chapters. Besides author is unreliable. He sometimes forget past plotlines, and write up bullshit. Due to this, a bingereader like me could get annoyed. Also most of the times MC's problems are easily solved due to keyboard system. It's like this, a situation comes up, and voila! MC get some ability or item from system which can perfectly solve the problem. This is just lazy writing.

Furthermore author is clearly obsessed with v**ginity. Coz MC's women must be virg*n. For ex. 1. An Ancient empress (thousands of years old) who has been married for decades is a virg*n. 2. Crown Princess, married for years, is a virg*n.

3. Another demon girl, married for years, is a virg*n.

4. Consort of King Qi, married for years, also a virg*n. Etc.

I don't even know what to say to this. These Chinese authors are really a special breed of people.

Tbh it had it's moments which make it sometimes interesting. And it was good in the beginning, with all that satire, humor and trolling. But then it became your typical rinse n repeat tr*sh novel. I almost dropped it many times. But I was in mood for some tr*sh smut cultivation novel, so I kept reading it. So if you're like me then read it. Feel free to drop it anytime, I promise, you won't be missing anything. So, don't have high expectations from it. <<less

Haven't finished reading it, as at the point of the review 666 is the latest translated chapter.

TLDR: Lighthearted, fun and refreshing. With some harem seasoning.

I wasn't sure if I'd like it at first, after all a keyboard is an immersion breaker. But I found myself laughing in no time. The novel takes our familiar cliches for a spin and resolves them in a fresh and trolly manner. It doesn't feel forced, on the contrary, almost everything that the MC does has it's logic behind it.

The MC is a troll, what... more>> else can be said. But he is a very likeable troll. Also, to the dismay of an average wuxia writer, the MC actually pushes the story forward, instead of exclusively reacting to developments.

The harem, honestly could go for quality over quantity. It was pretty interesting, and/or endearing on the first couple girls. But at this point, every young miss introduced is a potential harem member. The writing could have been better spent fleshing out the already existing girls.

The story is kinda meh. It goes into some ancient Chinese history and myths, which I can't care about, but it merely dips it's fingers in it, not dragging anything for to long. Overall, the little side quests and journey/evolution make it worthwhile. Each chapter leaves you rooting for the MC and his devious plots.

This novel is quite a refreshing read compared to most of the stagnated and murky wuxias out there. I highly recommend this is you feel like you need some sunlight in your life. <<less

There are a lot of low ratings here because people come into this expecting a cultivation novel. This is not a cultivation novel, so if you wanted to read about snorting pills and challenging the heavens, read something else.

Instead, Keyboard Immortal is a fun, smutty romp that doesn’t take itself seriously - the fact that it’s set in a cultivation world is an important detail, but it’s not the primary feature. Cultivation is nothing more than a way to add tension, or to present problems that require cunning rather than... more>> power.

Here’s an easy way to tell the difference between Keyboard Immortal and regular cultivation novels - finding an inheritance site. In a regular novel, MC has to overcome a trial like fighting a clone of himself, learns a powerful technique, cultivates, and leaves.

In Keyboard Immortal, MC enters the dungeon along with a love interest. They wake up in a bed next to each other, shrug, and start banging for a few hours. Later, they solve the illusion using political savvy, get a reward, and leave. After leaving, MC gives the reward to the love interest - and as a reward, they go back to banging. <<less

It’s a crack/gag story that slowly transforms into a thrilling cultivation novel.

After 2000 chapters of this novel, I see it’s flaws and things it does very well. It’s a goofier take on History’s Strongest Husband, so if you enjoyed atleast the first arc of that book, you will like this one too.

The problems, however, are pretty polarizing. For example, the secret realms/dungeons. The first three times they are fun, dangerous adventures where the audience sees our hero pair up with a beauty and explore new worlds, legends and myths. However... more>> after 5 times, it’s becomes filler and an excuse to power up the hero, justify him winning impossible match ups and progress the overarching story. The idea that in this secret space there’s an even bigger villain who fights our villain while the hero cleans up afterwards gets a bit repetitive.

Another problem would be disguises. I get a weak person using identities to gather information and bypass problems. However at 1800+ chapters where the MC is known as a pretty powerful dude, it’s annoying and silly. Half the growth of the MC is to realize that in order to protect his people, he must prevent problems rather than just solve them, and that absolute strength nullifies any schemes. When you see the character grow then back track into the same old plot, it’s highly disappointing. I can’t count the number of times you will read people causing trouble because they can’t see his power level.

The next problem would be some of the arcs are just too insane with loads of unique, powerful and interesting characters which the MC just has plot armor to deal with. It makes a small plot into a big plot, and we run into the “how can someone improve so fast” gimmick.

Possibly the biggest problem would be the way characters are used. There’s a feeling that outside the harem, characters sit on the shelf until the author wants to use them again. For example the mother in law and the sister in law are very prominent in the intro arc, but once they leave the plot, you don’t see them until way later on. Like they left in 300s and they appear again in the 1700s. That might be the most extreme example, but it feels like after the MC outgrows characters, they become just cameos. This goes for even girls you’d think were main harem members- that keep reappearing until they don’t anymore. Snow is a good example of this- she’s important the first thousand chapters and the next thousand she doesn’t exist.

However these problems are all higher level issues for what is supposed to be a trolling crack fic. I love the creative skills and humor, the harem is all unique and interesting, and the action is intense and thrilling. I love big sis empress, big mamman, gorgeous principle, Sang family and even the Emperor. While I can tell the author does bloat the story, I don’t mind it because the colorful cast keeps me entertained and excited for what happens next. <<less

This is a funny novel if you don't take it seriously. Unfortunately, this is also the reason it is dragged down after some 130 chapters, when MC enters the hidden realm.

On the first part of the novel, we're bombarded with comedy. After that event, we're bombarded with comparatively boring action, cringeworthy plot and character development. Comedy also turned stale, you can't keep nailing the same joke over and over and hope for it to stick, the legend of the moochlord came to an end for me. It's also worth mentioning... more>> that those factors always existed, but you could turn off your brain and just enjoy some laughs. If you strip it down, it becomes uninteresting. The logic of this world is that of quibblers.

Until that point, though, I'd give 4 stars to the novel. You don't lose anything by reading until about 130 for the comedy. <<less

one of the best novels I have ever read. It is very funny. KI has a very good harem. The way he treats his enemies and angers them is extremely hilarious. It is a must read for any fans of comedy and cultivation with a system.

the jokes are not a one time read which is a down factor of a equally funny novel like the strongest system. I read some segments of the novel again and again to read those jokes and... more>> I found them funny every time.

I wanted bi linglong to be in a dilemma or feel guilty because of liking golden token 11 and ah zu at the same time. When we saw that she liked golden token 11 and disliked zu an, I thought zu an would court her and she would be in a tough spot which would be entertaining. There could a few misunderstandings and jokes around it before it is revealed that they are the same person but this thing was ignored and she directly became a wife which I found to be a pity.

10/10 ecchi

10/10 everytime MC opens his mouth.

This novel also has the plot escalation problem like a lot of CN novels. Author starts at A with a goal of reaching C but instead of going A-B-C it goes reverse A-Z..-B and finally reaches B.

But honestly I ended up liking the journey and mini arcs too because the MC is such a basstard troll and the character development with the heroines is pretty good.

I have seen few reviews dropping at the end of chu chu clan arc but they are missing out, the chapters after MC reached capital have been the best so far. <<less
