It was a nightmarish starting point for Zu An, but fortunately, as a famed keyboard warrior in his previous life, the world gave him a keyboard in this life too so that he could turn things around. It's a pretty good novel, it's still pretty early in the story despite having only 414 chapter, but I see a lot of potential in this one, especially for the future now that they've slowly started unraveling some greater mysteries revolving the main character.

I also like the romance and comedy in this story, r18 scenes might not be detailed but it's still written well enough to invoke some imagination.

Also, I've seen that a lot are complaining that the main character is too smart and think that the author isn't sure... more>> what he wants to write, but honestly, I'm not sure if these guys have actually read the novel properly, yes, maybe there's some little bit of unreasonable side to it but I'd say it's easily justified with his cultivation enhancing his memory a lot, and he's also mentioned it, the story is pretty self-aware too and has alot of comedic fourth wall remarks from time to time.

Overall, a good read, I would highly recommend this if you want something fresh and want to take a break from the typical Millenium cultivation AFK MC's just to reach to x-realm needing x-amount of pills, the keyboard system just makes it so fun and gives more chance for character interactions and fights- but really the strong point in this novel is the character interactions, it might seem slow and snail paced but it's very entertaining.

Edit:

It's still as amazing as I remember it, I began to read it again and even started to read MTL, lmao. I'd say this is the only novel of this kind that gives you that cultivation flavor, while also having entertaining romance that isn't afraid to have a shameless main character. <<less

I dropped this at ch 38, and it wasn't because it was 'so bad'- it was just nothing special. Between what I'd read so far, and a glimpse at other people's reviews- I could tell this story (which was already doing so much random nonsense) would be going 'wherever it thought it was headed' quite slowly.

The Good:

  • Some interesting ideas here & there.
  • Some comedy is funny
The BAD:

  • MC is s*upid. Plot is forced. MC will think 'Imma do this thing' with a half-a$$ed reason which is conducive to where the author clearly wants the story to go, despite what the MC might need to actually accomplish. Even worse, the MC has no personality excepts as a 'keyboard warrior', and just does things as a 'plot puppet' to move the story forward.
    Spoiler

This is absolutely despite how supposedly clever he's supposed to be, because no way should a person living a new life try to fix sh*t or (shudder) learn shit. He brags about knowing a bunch of stuff to do his kb warrior thing- but give him a chance to go to school and fix a bunch of life problems while learning about the new world, and 'nope- not going to school twice...'

    [collapse]
  • Everyone is s*upid. Plot is forced. The author even makes things clear about situations, and still (because we need to force plot) people will think the dumb thing instead.
    Spoiler

The MC is both proven to have no ability to get an erection, and is cleared on the random set-up of 'sleeping with a brothel woman (whatever) - further proving people are out to 'frame' and or 'try to kill him'- but 'nope- supposedly smart people still think he tried to crawl into bed with his sister in law' even after because 'forcing the plot'.

    [collapse]
  • Plot is forced. I give the author a tiny bit of credit for setting up his 'solutions' a few dozen chapters before they are needed for the 'dilemma'- but as that is done via a cliche deux ex machina cheat device, it's pretty much a wash. Everything else is just endless 'here is the new thing I am telling you' from the author, some of which is interesting- others 'not so much'.
  • On that note, much of the story is strung together, very random pop-up events- most of which half ignores the author's previous efforts. Seriously- the story ignores the story. No one acts like 'you think they might' do to the supposed situation at hand- unless how they act should be 'excessively cliche knee-jerk over-reaction'. this is very much 'caricature comedy'- only not funny enough.
  • The rest of the story is so 'by the script' it would be predictable if not for the erratic author. 'Here's a lottery item- you'll need that soon because 'the future...'- other items? I'll just duplicate this one I thought of for a while... '.
  • Randomly delves into strange sex/fetish areas purely for drama/bad/lame humor.
    Spoiler

Sometimes these areas are only 'wtf' (like the 'assrip wolves'- yes, they are a thing here) - other times they are a bit more disturbing (yeah- not going to go into it here- but the story brings up a lot more unpalatable 'wtf'?)

    [collapse]
The Different:

  • Nothing. The 'system' the MC gets is the dumbest one ever, maybe? It sounds 'cool' at first- but it plays like a garbage plot vehicle to enable random stuff. (Yeah- I know they all are, but it shouldn't be so obvious...)
I will say in fairness that only 39 chapters is not a great sample- but unless the author completely changes his writing style and priorities (which others make clear he doesn't) you can expect more of the same.

An ok time killer I suppose, but not really worth the while unless it really falls into your strike zone.

I find this novel quite entertaining. I think that the strenght of the story is the comedy and the shameless MC. After reading the first 10 chapters, you can basically figure out if it is worth reading. If you don't like the comedy, it's pointless to keep reading.

I was interested in the fantasy element (the strange keyboard) in a martial art story. The keyboard is basically a big plot armor, but at the same time it's the engine of the comedy and all the events. The keyboard's system gives the... more>> posibility to exchange "anger points" for special lottery draws that can give rewards to the MC. What are this "anger points"? They are points that the keyboard's system gives to the MC for angering/trolling people. The rewards are potions, apparently useless skills or magical objects that are helpful to the MC to raise strenght and they are used for comedy purpose. For example there is a skill that force the enemy to respond " I'm looking at you " if the MC asks "what are you looking at?". This is mainly used to break the concentration of the enemy or to block people 1000× stronger than the MC from chanting, creating hilarious situation in which he stalls the battle and farms anger points. There are also s*upid magical objects like one that gives the MC a sort of invulnerability from "damage from a female enemy richer than the MC for 1 hour" only for a limited amount of times (like 3 times).

There are other s*upidly hilarious skills and objects, like a skill that gives the suffering of "giving birth" to a target.

The MC is shameless with a sharp tongue, he is a clown, a super troll and a womanizer. Differently from the classic MC in martial arts novel, he is not the type of show off character and even if he has the means to litteraly beat up people, he always chose to fight people with the sharp tongue and not with bare hands. He doesn't give a f*uck about what people say about him. In ALL chinese martial arts novels, there is ALWAYS the arrogant young master that say to the MC "you suck, I am better then you" and the next moment the MC beat up the arrogant young master showing off. In this novel the MC chose always to fight with words first and only show is abilities as last choice, if it is really unavoidable.

The girls around the MC are nothing special. They are all big clichè, super beautiful and bidimensional. They fall for the MC easily, because he is funny, good looking and he is totally out of place in that type of world. The author sometimes build up a decent and slow """""romance""""", sometimes use s*upid cliché like "females is going to get hit and the MC protect her with his body". Don't get me wrong, I don't hate it, but the MC do it like 10 times with different girls in less then 30 chapters in the current last arc.

It's all good until the current last arc, the arc in which
Spoiler

the MC gets arrested and he is going to the capital

[collapse]
. This arc is deadly bad. There is a girl that fall in love for the MC litteraly for nothing. The realms and strenght of the chatacters it's getting completly f*ucked up. He starts to fight with people that he should not be able to fight. There are ENDLESS plain battles that involve the MC, one after another. The MC has basically infinite stamina in the last chapters. He ends up in a HUGE mess in which all the people in the world wants to kidnap or kill him and I can't see a solution to the whole mess. The whole world need to magically forget about the MC or he needs to divulge the special technique in order to restablish the plot, I cant see another solution. The author was probably under drugs while writing this arc, if he really can pull out the MC from this mess with a good solution, I will do him a statue.

Spoiler

the only good solution is that the MC is a lost child from the royal family. He was adopted and his d*ick was tecnically sealed in order to not give birth, so it would not be impossible. Under the premise of being the son of the royal family nobody will touch him.

[collapse]

Without the last arc it's 3.5/5 for the comedy (in the last 70-80 chapters is getting s*upid and not funny) and the extravagant elements in the story, even if the plot it's nothing special and the characters are mainly plain.
I will give a score only after thi arc end. <<less

If you are looking for a webnovel with those tag Harem, s*x, Cultivation, System. It is the one for you, if not just go away.

This novel is slow paced there is a lot of world building character all female character stay revelant. MC start very weak he take some time to get stronger and when he will get stronger he will hide his strengh cause there is stronger foes you still get some face smacking.

The story get more interesting when he get out of the first city and you... more>> start to learn about some of the world building. <<less

I'd give this novel a 3.5/5 if I had to rate it solely on its comedic value.

Honestly, the first 100 chapters or so deserve a 4.5/5 because they were UTTERLY hilarious. Multiple times I found myself laughing so hard that I had trouble breathing and tears in my eyes (a rare occurrence for me). The comedy was witty, unexpected, and completely in sync with what I'd expect from a keyboard warrior.

Unfortunately, around the 150ish chapter (after the realm arc) I noticed a slow but steady decline in the level of... more>> comedy. The jokes were still funny but I found myself chuckling instead of the heartfelt laughter that I'd had before.

Comedy aside, this novel is kinda terrible.

Cultivation is present, yet it's not nearly as significant as you'd expect. 'High' level cultivators act as if they're just normal people and carry very little of the prestige that I'd expect. Moreover, the cultivation level of everyone is nonsensically low when you consider how long they've been cultivating for.

There is very little world-building, lore, beast/creatures, and fantastical events to keep the reader engaged. In fact, the MC has only fought 2 types of beasts (wolf and rhino) and 1 type of creature (zombie) so far. This wasn't an issue at first because of the high-level comedy, but once the comedy regressed I found myself bored and skipping entire passages at a time.

There are quite a few more issues I have with this novel, but I don't want to give away too many spoilers. However, if you're looking for a laugh (given that you're not overly sensitive or triggered), I'd highly recommend this novel. The comedy does drop by a LOT eventually, but there are laughs to be had before it does.

Pros- High-level Comedy, Shameless MC.

Cons- Poorly implemented Cultivation System, Harem (not a big fan of these), Nonsensical s*xual Encounters, Very Little Lore/ World-building, Boring Fights, Thick Plot Armor, Gets Repetitive. <<less

Very good novel, Nice focus on the character interactions.
What you can expect from this novel is simple.

A nice harem with fleshed out girls (there not copy and paste and they matter)
Lots of face slapping coming from the MC.
Bullsh*t plot armor that no novel cant escape from.
A lot of self awareness, it takes itself seriously without doing so too much. Expect the MC to straight out say "im the MC I dont have to worry" yet it dose not ruin it since its handled really well.
Decent s*x, as in it at least describes what there doing, not in detail but you will know if his getting a bj or f*cking.

The only bad sides till now is the bullsh*t long zombie arc that got boring for a while. And personally the fact that the second sister seems to have become a side to a dumb character. Loosing a lot of her personality. Otherwise I see few to no flaws.

Antics of MC are crazy and most of time he seems like hes shameless rash and lust full. But most of the time hes calculative and good with words. And yeah sure hes lustful but he knows his limit. Story profession in term of time is way too slow till now its hardly a month or 2 from the beginning of story but cultivation speed is not too slow. More likes he's still in newbie town and there are tons of people are stronger than him. And hes snot that... more>> arrogant MC who just go around kill everyone what he do mostly is troll people to death. <<less

The guy gets stronger by collecting Rage points (by trolling) other people. Provoking, causing jealousy, flirting, accusing, mocking - he had a lot of fun.

The author got really creative for the first 120 chapters. Unfortunately, 120-200 chapters are a very long and boring battle with zombies and talking to ghosts from Chinese history, Europeans have no idea about. The author ran out of ideas and the quality went down the drain. 200-220 chapters became a drama and the IQ of the protagonist suddenly dropped. I dunno. Anyways, up to chapter... more>> 120 it is an awesome read, 5 stars. But after that - no more than 3. <<less

This is harem xuanhuan novel with comedic undertone. The main selling point is MC being shameless and trolling people for system points. Especially when MC wants to juggle his time between girls and have to troll out.

I like how the plot progress as of 500s chapters. The novel doesn't suffer common pitfall of "trying to nerf MC" or "trying to make MC dumb" to milk content. The treatment for plot development is more fluent than most xuanhuan out there.

This is a harem novel with lot of FMCs (if not all,... more>> eventually). There are several of enemies turned lovers and aphrodisiac used. Common plot is the girl shared a dedicated love with villains until MC woo her off of her relationship. However, I like how the author doesn't c*ckblock on romance and let it flow naturally whenever it can. (Unlike many novel that like to milk on romance by making MC a virg*n until novel ends) <<less

This is a s*upid novel in a very fun way. I usually dislike these sort of nonsensical novels but this time around I am actually laughing quite a bit. So basically this is a comedy, as long as you don't take anything too seriously you will enjoy it a lot. It reminds me a lot of I Am A Superstar, but without all the xenophobia and cringey political stuff. Anyways its super addicting and a very fun read, tons of face slapping without the bad aftertaste those overly serious novels... more>> leave behind. <<less

This is a very funny and decent story. The world building is not bad along with many interesting side characters. But the novel has a terrible flaw. And that is the MC. I don't mind him being shameless, rash and lustful, but what annoy me is the constant inconsistency of the character portray by the author. One moment he seems to be very smart but the next moment his actions makes you think he is a idiot.

The MC has zero character growth. He never learns from his mistakes nor does... more>> he regret the things that happen which was cause by himself. The only reason why he is still alive is his plot armor. His journey is like reading a su*cide person constantly try to off himself but only got save by some ridiculous luck. The MC constant inconsistency is really annoying. One moment he is a ruthless killer but the next moment he is like a saint when it comes to sparing others. Is irritating how author constantly shift the MC personality.

When you think he is a pretty smart guy, the next moment he does something s*upid. For example he was constantly save by a powerful person but when this powerful person died, the first thing he does is to boast to others about it. Even though is better to stay quiet and let things blow over. His mouth constantly blab things out without fearing the consequences. Worse is most of the time he doesn't even have any plans at all. I don't mind if he attract trouble as long he has a plans to follow up on in case things goes bad, but most of the time the guy has no plans at all. All the things happening is because he got lucky whenever things get out of hand. He is not s*upid and clearly show to be intelligent that can piece certain stuff together but then the next moment he is a like moron who intentionally attract the danger but has no plans at all how to deal with it.

There is no tension at all. Even though the MC had almost died so many times or when the ones close to him are in danger, we as the reader can't feel the tension of it. Is because the MC himself do not give us this feeling that there is anything to worried about. As if he would solve it just because he is the MC and everything will turn out to be alright. Is really annoying this way when a MC show zero sign of any personal growth throughout the whole story. There is no cautious at all nor does he even learn a single thing from all the mistakes he went through.

Another example is when someone try to kill him. Even though he should know his life is in danger and the ones he cares about are also in danger, he doesn't do anything about it. No plans or any counter measures. There is no tension at all because is like he doesn't care and still enjoy his daily life like nothing is wrong. Thinking he could kill the enemy as long he appear. Is ridiculous that every time he goes somewhere dangerous, he get found out anyway. Even though he should know that with his skills, the chances of being discover is high and he should at least have a plan before putting himself at risk. The guy literally survive due to luck every time

I will give it a 3 star. Is a not bad novel to read to pass the time but the novel is kinda lacking is you want to read a novel which has some depth to it. <<less

I've read through this new novel in one sitting and it's definitely a breath of fresh air, at least for me. While it's your typical power fantasy, the main character does keep things entertaining and the mysteries surrounding his circumstances, while interesting, aren't rushed through like other novels. Instead, the MC is slowly but surely inching upon a foothold on the mysterious world that he was transported to.

He's shameless but relatively practical (especially compared to other Chinese protagonists) and keeps things entertaining. Obviously, this is a temporary review but I'm... more>> loving this so far! <<less

Its been a few years since I started reading this novel. To summarize, I came for the comedy but ultimately stayed for the plot.

The plot:

A lot of the bad ratings for this novel are around 400-600 range, which honestly, is fair. The story's main hook point was the slapstick-type comedy with the underdog doing some face slapping against young masters, along with a relatively smart MC that does s*upid sh*t sometimes (come on, dudes in his early 20s). The comedy started to get repetitive around chapter 300 and honestly, it... more>> felt like the author was writing himself into a corner with the plot. It becomes stagnant a few more hundred chapters into the story.

However, I will say that the author seemed to have found a new direction to take around chapters 800-900 and decided to delve deep into political intrigue and the concept of secret domains (iirc thats what they're called). The MC is no longer weak by this point, even in the grand scheme of things, but the people he deals with are leagues above him in strength so what he does is try to pit the big figures against each other with the ultimate goal to weaken the victor enough such that he is able to take them on himself.

The setting:

The author does a great job in somehow combining relatively complex geopolitics into a cultivation world where it feels like the strong should curb-stomp any opposition through violence. Also, the author is trying to do something with the secret domains to lay the foundations for the endgame where the MC eventually faces off with Emperor so the MC does get his fair share of whooping ass (physically) so it is not like it's all politics.
Spoiler

However, recent chapters have alluded to the existence of "heaven" that contains true immortals even the nigh-invincible Earth immortals have only ever heard of in legends.

[collapse]

The Harem:

Ah yes, the harem, you hate them or you love them. There is always at least one woman next to him at any point in time but not very often more than two at a time. Honestly, I will say that the harem is one of the novel's greatest weaknesses as well as strengths. Every single main heroine gets their own arc where they shine as fully fledged characters and not just some means to an end. During their personal arcs, they get unique dynamics between them and the MC and it is not a lie that the women (collectively) make the story.

While there is no graveyard of beauties as every heroine comes back into the limelight eventually even after being "conquered", most heroines' presence as a "key" character after their arc often either comes off as somewhat forced. It really saddens me that this has to happen. Just like how a campfire burns the brightest at the beginning, so do these women. There may be like 20 different women each with their own he gets involved with but ultimately, maybe 6 of them are worth being remembered as main heroines.

TLDR

Anyways, 4.5/5 out of me, with the -0.5 mostly from the 200-chapter quagmire between chapters 400 and 600 as well as not utilizing the women in the story well enough even after their personal arcs. <<less

top tier novel

Some of the info dumps about previous dynasties are a bit much but not too bad and aren't out of place or front loaded in the story at all. By the time you see those, you're already invested, and they become somewhat interesting. The MC is a pretty good dude and what the author values in his characters and story is all good stuff. Much like the MC, the author doesn't bullsh*t and just writes what readers of these type of novels want to hear. Very refreshing.
