Mainly talks about the characters' dreams. The title doesn't seem much but the story was truly beautiful. The characters are well depicted, whether it's the main or side characters. It really felt like I was reading about 'art' in art.

Spoiler

There is one part that I really hate though in the story. It's the part where Cen Man Chuan (MC ex) faked his injury on the ankle making the MC think about his past again (and when you know the MC had like serious injuries on his feet it just hurts so bad because I felt like the MC was truly living through the pain again and thought that it might be the same for his 'bf'). Then the ex proceeded to show him the apartment keys he got even though the MC already said to discuss at a later date. The ex does not seem to understand that the MC is insecure and needs stability the most in a relationship. Though the ex is a good person, he is not suitable for the MC.

[collapse]

But the ML was really good and sweet to the MC. Despite still liking the MC when they finally met each other after 5 years, knowing that the MC has a 'current' boyfriend already he decided to not barge into his new life and disrupt them. I think he was very considerate and not forceful at all, which made me like him more as a ML.

Spoiler

Though I did not like their 5 years of separation, I think it was necessary for them to grow and become more mature. Without those years, even if they got together 5 years ago, they would still have faced problems when dating

Such a beautiful, resonating poignant story about life. For K-Drama affecionado, I would liken it to watching the Reply drama series where you see the kids grow up, experiencing first love, heartbreak and finding their own life path. I really like how the story showed the relationship dynamic between Xiang Cai and Tan Qiming changes as they grow. A must read!

Cai Cai. The name might sound just cute. But the book is much more than just that. It is absolutely beautiful.

To start off with, I began reading this book because I just wanted some romance so I can pass my time. I was looking for books so I could choke on dog food (cause I recently read some really intense stuff) and this didn't really stand up to my expectations in that sense. Instead, what I found in this book is the meaning of passion and dreams. It was filled... more>> with life and I wasn't the least bit disappointed for not finding what I came for.

Yes, there is romance, Cai Cai deals with the beauty and pain of first love, dreams, and friendships, but the tone of the book is quite plain. It felt a bit too plain at the start. But as it progressed, I couldn't put the book down. We read the life of various people (mainly the MC and ML) on the way and each of them leaves a footprint on you that doesn't really fade for a while. It was cute, it was sad, it was inspirational, it was uplifting, and it put a smile on my face.

What more does one need in a book for them to call it 'good'? This is a good book through and through and everyone deserved to read it! <<less

If I were to compare this with music, each word brings its notes crescendo-ing upwards. A coming of age, coming of love music score that belongs to their world.

The more I read, the more I'm immersed in this world, where if there was really a music score, it would go from pp before it surges brightly into hope and first love, before turning heavy with the passage of life.

But nevertheless, hope will connect, and because of the past, the future can be treasured.

... more>> This, I'll definitely recommend.

ps. I love the ending. It was on point ;) <<less

This is my first time writting a review although I have read many novels already. This time I had to give a review because this novel is simply just amazing!!!

The story has just the right amount of angst and fluff, so sweet and cute, I just loved it 💖💖💖

And I also want to thank the translator for doing such a great job❣

It's a very beautiful story. It makes you feel sad, it makes you feel angry, it makes you cry and it makes you laugh. Even the side characters were written beautifully, it makes you want to know more about them. It broke my heart when Ziran cried; I was glad that Qi Ji found her happiness; and I really hope that Manchuan could find his soulmate.

So sweet, and so lovely, it's truly worth the read.

A genuine journey of a youth at his highest peak, sinking to the darkest depths before rising back up again, higher than ever before. Beautiful isn't enough to describe it, but it also suits it perfectly.

I recommend it.

Greatly.

Ah the dramaaaaaa

I was baited by the professions because I, unabashedly admit, that I am a total voice con. Plus, a musical actor shou is not something I usually see in my line-up of movie emperors, singers, gamers, & rich moguls. The premise is one that I enjoy: a young ballet dancer who is forced to give up his dreams finds solace in a voice actor. There's also a whole separated-then-reunited theme going on too, so if you like some suffering & bittersweet moments, then welcome aboard!

"You are the point I seek every time I pirouette."—c70

The plot is split into present-past-present, going off in that order. Prologue is fairly short before it dives into the past, which honestly is the better portion of the novel. Personally, I just felt like... more>> I empathized more in the beginning half. There was a plethora of emotions & I truly loved (as well as cried over) MC's struggles. I can't imagine the feeling of having your future ripped away, to be alone without family & just few friends, with no one that truly believes in you, void of anyone that doesn't pity you... our baby's just in a very deep pit. After falling in love at first sound with a popular voice actor, he finds that there's hope after all. ML evokes inspiration, love, passion, & hope within MC. & I think it works vice versa, unbeknownst to ML himself. The past was a massive rollercoaster, dealing with various challenges respectfully tailored to both MC & ML. I quite like the contrast between a 17-year-old & a 25-year-old; it shows the differences in perspective & emphasizes a lot on how much people can change as they grow older. They become more willing to compromise, faster to yield, easier to dull. The realism really tugged on my heartstrings & I couldn't help but wince in agony at every line.

I HONESTLY ADORE the amount of love the author threw out. There were a variety of sorts. From Qi Ji's silent unrequited love to Yao Yin's passionate pursuit to Cen Manchuan's budding-but-doomed first love- the author really chucked a lot of PAIN into the readers eyes.

Spoiler

& Of course I didn't forget about my idol, my one & only supportive baby, Chen Ziran. He deserves so much ;A;

[collapse]

It really SUCKS that the second half of the novel felt like the author hit a fast-forward button & everything was incredibly rushed. Barely any build-up between the main CP & I'm just not happy how it progressed. Could be due to time-crunch but we'll never know... AT LEAST IT WAS A HE AFTER ALL! I appreciate the author giving at least some sort of closure to each prominent character. Hahahaha I need my babies to be happy after so much pain. <<less

its indeed deep and emotional novel. Im not the fan of sad and tragedic past that impact future events story novel so usually I read fluffy and funny novel but this novels is a gem in danmei novel.

i really feel pitty with MC. You know in many novels that I like to read when an accident happen to MC or ML most of the time someone save them and they can continue to reach their dream.

Spoiler

but in this novel T T my poor MC, I cried with him, with his miserable life with his only dream and only things that he had and he lost it. I read novels for their funny and without any really bad things happend world and heve a diffrent world from reallity cause I didnt want to fell sad in my real life about novels too, but this novels honestly didnt bother me. I cryed with MC and his destroyed dream but at the same time when I see his Motivation and his hard working I find Motivation in myself too and its really enjoyable. Im glad that our MC finally find someone who knows his real value, actually in this novel most of the charming and plot burden is on MC. We see how he finally Overcome his miserable life and finally find a new path for himself so that he can shine again and ML is only a supportive good person in my eyes and I really couldnt pay much attention to him

[collapse]

but I really didnt like the side characters I think author only write him so MC and ML have someone other that themselve for liking them, actually this novel hasnt something special and cool or Rare plot that you see in popular novels and they caught your eyes But I do not know why this novel had such a profound effect on me and other readers, the author pen is really amazing.

so I recommend it to anyone and im sure that you like it too, although it hasnt any hot scene and im kinda disappointed too, <<less

AHHHHHH, this was so good! I’m procrastinating stuff as I say this, but I simply must write this review (even though it’s my third time reading this). This story is sweet and so fluffy, but also slightly melancholic and incredibly relatable. I personally, I’m at a point of in life where I understand Tan Yiming. Not everyone can take that leap to give up on the “stable” career and follow your passion. And for those who can, how many can call themselves “successful” or even financially secure? For me, that... more>> was most relatable but I think most people in the world can relate to one of our main characters in some way shape or form. And that’s one of the things that makes this story so magical, so poignant, so true.

I noticed that at the end the author left an author’s note. Apparently, they just wanted to write a novel about their hobbies and this grew out of that. That’s honestly so cool. How did this amazing work grow from a sudden whim or thought. But that’s how it is I guess. Anyway, this is a must read if you like this kind of thing! <<less

Wow a novel about real people, no toxic "I'm not gay, I'm only attracted to you" crap, no face paralyze but actually 3 dimensional humans with complex emotions. Seriously I went through all kinds of ups and down here because it all felt so grounded and real, but I still felt safe that it was all going to turn out well and that's because it was clear that the writer understood the genre she was working with, musicals should have a magical realism and here we get just that.... more>> No one is trying to hurt anyone just trying to be the best version of themselves. Some could not understand why the MC retreated and cut ties at the end of the first half, well it's actually really simple... He was freaking 17 years old!

[His dream of become a ballet dancer was literally crush because of his own parents that abandon him, he gains a best friend who tells him she is leaving to another country, and in the next breath he finds out that his crush is quitting being a part of the voice over online company to become a professional. Tell me how can this child who has only seen the inside of a ballet school since he was 11 or 12 years, going home like maybe once or twice a year to very selfish parents till the incident where his feet crush, understand his own actions and to also not be afraid of loosing what he hasn't even been able to hold. ]

This is about how 2 real people came together against all odds because of fate (there's the magical realism). But is also about understanding what comparability means and can we really know the difference between being attracted to someone, loving someone and being IN love with someone and are we willing to settle.

And the real super novelty of this novel is that people here are straight, gay and bi and no one is a real bad guy. They are either comparable or not.

[/That ending when they finally got together was beautifully done, I cry so damn hard!!]

It's easy to see that this was novel was written by an adult and it's rating should not be lower than a 4.7 or 4.8.

This is my first full review after reading maybe a lot of novels and I really hoped I did the spoiler thing right if not I'm really sorry. <<less

This is my second review. Although it’s not a review but just my thoughts. SPOILERS AHEAD !!!! And these are just my thoughts so don’t mind me that much.

I would like to say that the author did an amazing job writing this piece. However some parts are not my cup of tea.

1) I feel that the ML was kinda like a neglected from the start. While the whole novel is from MC’s pov and he obviously had a much hard life than the ML but I cant help feeling that... more>> the ML and his character development was not that much expressed. From the first half we have this career focused and caring elder brother type person who gradually falls for his little swan in the second half but all through the two half’s he has to hold back.

2) The MC and ML have almost 6 year age gap. Nothing wrong with that. At the end of first part MC is 17 and decides to unilaterally cut off his feelings for 23 yr old ML. Halfway through the second part the now 22 yr old MC realises that his current bf is not what he needs and that he better focus on his career. (Well I might be a lot hypocritical here but) the ML had gone through some similar situation 5 yr back and the MC didn’t even let him explain !!!!!! (I really feel wronged for the ML - the poor guy just endures!!!) <<less

3.5 / 5

It was a good read with very very little romance between the MC and ML. Literally the first half of the book MC and ML have never met in person only through internet chat. They finally got together towards the end of the book. And there's really no tender moments or if there is, it was so short live. For example they finally kiss then end of that, new chapter and the moment was cut short. With that said it was still interesting enough to keep me until... more>> the end of the novel. Actually most exciting part for me was
Spoiler

when MC was dating Cen Manchuan (ex boyfriend). I somehow much prefer Cen Manchuan, even though he's young, naive, and impulsive; he was so sweet and did everything for MC. It broke my heart when MC broke up with him. That was painful for me.

[collapse]
Would I read it again? No, because it's one of those book that you have to read the whole book in order to enjoy its sweetness, otherwise there's really no little exciting moments for me. <<less

Everything in this novel is a perfection. Like a reality, sometimes our MC or our ML can have a disappointing actions. But I love how they grow from every actions they took.

Cai Cai is now one of my favorite MC. He is an adorable matured baby. HE MUST BE PROTECTED.

The story itself is beautifully written. I watched some of the songs that were mentioned in the story.

It was beautiful. Especially since I spent most of my life in a ballet school and my cousin then went on to act in musicals in West End, I really feel the passion of the MC. It reminds me of the hustle and bustle backstage, the injuries and how heartbreaking it is to have to watch your friends perform while you sit in the audience, all my memories blended in with this story that is oh so beautifully told.

Would recommend for the lovely storytelling and would recommend even more for... more>> anyone who is or has been a part of the dancing/acting/singing circles. ❤️ <<less

This is super good. Had so many feels. The pacing of the first half is quite good but I agree with most commenters that the latter part went zoom like it's running out of time. But I like the characterizations I felt the knives so badly I just wanna curl up and sleep. But at the same time the sweet fluffy feelings it evoked countered the knives

I like the dynamics I like all the characters, even the extras.

It's a realistic world that the author has built that I just want... more>> to root for everyone's happy ending.

I wish ML's search for MC in the 5 year timeskip had more details. There's a lot of information I'd like to know more during the in between years. But I guess it'll turn into a longer epic novel if even those are added (and probably more dog blood drama)

Caicai made me wish I'm as successful and as content as ML. He resonates with me in that his upbringing, career track, and decisions in life run parallel with mine. I wish I have my very own Cai Cai : ( <<less
