Overlimit Skill Holder

“Every person has an equal amount of 8 skill holder slots. There are normal skills such as【Physical Strength】which takes up 1 slot, but there are also rare skills which take up 4 to 5 slots, or even rarer ones which take up all 8 slots.”

Is what old man Hinga taught me at the Orb Mine, where skill orbs are unearthed. But we “s*aves” could not acquire skills due to Contract Magic, thus s*aves had no future.

On one fateful day, the noble who owned the mine, that is, our “Master”, came to visit the Orb Mine. Due to a sudden earthquake, the ceiling collapsed, rocks fell directly on the noble’s head, and he died. At that moment, our contract magic disappeared.

The clever s*aves ran straight to the warehouse where the skill orbs were stored. They absorbed rare skill orbs, and used their newfound abilities and magic to defeat the guards and escape from the mine. It was a riot. I was too late to pick up a skill orb.

“–It’s over. I will be forced back into being a s*ave,” I despaired.

But just then, I saw a skill orb that shouldn’t exist. An orb which used 10 skill holder slots -【All Things In Creation 《World Ruler》】. A non-standard skill orb that would be of no interest to anyone but researchers because no soul in the world could use it. However, I was able to absorb【World Ruler】

Why? That’s because I was a “reincarnated person”. I had 8 more skill holder slots than an average person, for a total of 16 slots. The mine is besieged and there is only one exit. A mysterious skill【World Ruler】in my hand.

What do I do now?

As good as the system was. What made me angry is the typical righteous MC cliche. He feels guilty for no reason. He sacrifices himself to save people. He sacrifces his cheat and power to save people.

Same as every other spineless, weak isekai JP novel. If you've read one, you've read 'em all.

The only interesting part of this novel is the s*ave/contract magic that makes people have no emotions and alters what they see/hear/taste- other than that it's all the same sh*t and the MC spends the first volume (at least where I read to) being carried by strangers. MC is pitifully weak, unable to use his skill without passing out and is an absolute goody-two-shoes JP protagonist that after your 20th time seeing just makes... more>> you cringe at how pathetic they are, if you're still reading JP novels, you should go read Chinese novels instead, with realistic MCs who get revenge on people and do things in their own interest, like real people, and who actually sleep with the female interests instead of being "Kuro-Kun, defender of the light, master of the universe, perma-virg*n" despite being surrounded by women all the time.

Waste of time, don't read. <<less

Foxaholic was crazy for dropping. This is the type of novel that gets better chapter after chapter. MC is a 10 year old who gains an amazing skill he actually has to learn how to use. Its well paced and doesnt come off as rushed or the author fits crap together to make it work. He properly placed a limit on his OP MC so the story can develop.

It does has its parts where you won't agree with the MC but all books do. Its A part of the growth... more>> process.

Lightnovelstranslations picked up a good product and will do great translating it as they usually do <<less

I was iffy at first, but it grew on me. Then I didn't like the end of the first arc so much, but the second arc was pretty good. Then I didn't like the end of the second arc, but the third arc was great (and the ending was actually good this time!). My rating was probably 2 at the end of the first arc, 3 at the end of the second arc, and it might even get better from the fourth arc on.

What I'm saying is, if you like... more>> the concept of the story but don't think it's done well at first, the author gets better. <<less

Like others mentioned, the MC is such a goody-two-shoe that it's already gotten on my nerves. I quit this novel, just for this reason alone. The majority of people either hate the MC or want him dead but what do u know he lives in lala land and can't seem to have any negative thoughts on it. Revenge hell no, punishment who cares. This novel is not realistic, and doesn't use common sense if any at all. MC just goes with the flow and doesn't have any grand goals/ambitions, he's... more>> like a dead end, just like this novel. Kids will probably like this novel as its brimming with positive vibes throughout. <<less

Good world building and plot, but I don't like this novel.

I got attracted to the premise of "Overpowered Protagonist", 【All Things In Creation 《World Ruler》】sounds cool, right? But as of the first volume, the MC's cheat is extremely weak. All the world building only serves to weaken the cheat further. The Identify aspect of the cheat only worth 1~2 stars. The Copy Skill aspect is weaken by the fact that strong people are strong and experienced even without their skills; while the copied skill doesn't give the MC the trained... more>> experience, he is still Beginner (not even Jack) of Some (not All) Trades. And the "Omniscience" aspect (?) only shows up once when the MC suddenly knows how to cure Petrification and doesn't activate in similar situation, a proof that the author didn't even have a concrete idea as to what the cheat does and slightly changed/developed it along the way. <<less

I came in expecting a generic isekai novel, but this is actually quite the gem. The first arc is indeed a bit slow, but it never feels like there's a wasted moment that exists just for filler content. Each scene serves to advance the plot in one way or another, either by further developing the characters or to set something up for the future. There's some intriguing plot groundwork that has been laid down as early as his escape from the s*ave mines that still hasn't been fully addressed even... more>> by the second arc, though he is starting to pursue them:
Spoiler

finding his now fugitive 'big sister' Larc, who wields a 6 star orb, and delivering the final words of his dead mentor's, the old man that educated him and his 'sister' in the s*ave camp, to his granddaughter.

.

The characters/companions he meets along his journey feel real and believable, each with a deeper backstory and motivation. None of those one dimensional boring characters. MC starts off rather weak but intelligent with a powerful skill orb that he doesn't know how to utilize yet. Still at the end of the day, he's a 10 year old run-away s*ave with a history of being abused by his own family and selling himself to the mines to out of desperation to survive and that's reflected in a realistic way. He's extremely vulnerable and when he finally finds safety through the kindness of a group of people after days of being on the run, he breaks down into a sobbing mess like a kid and is left with a debt that feels he can not repay.

If the first arc feels slow with no plot direction, that's likely because it's mostly focused on MC's survival and him trying to repay his debt, in which the process of, he end ups establishes a strong bond and comradery with those who saved him. There is no solid antagonist in this arc, it's more about survival and setting up important characters and relationships, though there is a big finale to the first arc that has great action/fighting. The second arc, which takes place 4 years after the first arc, seems to finally have him starting to chase after the plot laid down in the beginning of the first arc. I'm looking forward to how this story develops, thanks for the translation as always. <<less

not particularly special or a masterpiece, there's some flaws that can be found but there's also things that will make you like it. Overall, it's a good read and I can recommend it to people for casual reading.

Really interesting at this point, the first volume had a great climax that I wasn't expecting at all and the 2nd volume is fun so far. Translation is great.

Spoiler

Not entirely sure where it goes from here since the MC is pretty powerful, but he's only OP compared to the average fighter. I think he's still much weaker than some of the characters introduced like that half-elf or the dragon

Great.

Moderate world building, reasonably interesting characters, and just enough plot and good story to keep you interested without being too much to keep track of.
It starts out a bit slow but gets pretty good, which seems to just be the authors style since rule breaker is similar in that regard.

Definitely would recommend, especially if you’re reading rule breaker as well (or vice versa if you’ve read this and are looking for something else check that out). They’re clearly different with different worlds, but are just similar enough that it’s... more>> unlikely you’d like one and not the other. <<less

Great story the plot is done right not very chaotic and world building is going along with the story as it progresses and character development is done right albeit slowly 8/10 would recommend this novel, the novel itself is a semi-casual type novel with a drama troupe thingy good for casual reader I did read the raws and I feel like I'm a watching an anime about a person from weak to strong type with cliche out of the way so far as the story progresses the MC doesn't show... more>> of being able to recognize feelings of love and I will not spoil anymore and I would recommend to read it by yourself. <<less

Finn here.

Decided to pick up the WN because the manga adaptation took quite time to update.

At first, I thought that this will be another novel where reincarnated person will be given privilege to enjoy his OP powers without efforts but boy I was wrong.

... more>> MC at the beginning was kinda lame, coward, indecisive, etc but slowly after meeting new people, learning about the world around him, parting with his companions and such he began to greatly change and I personally like the character development itself.

Aside from MC's denseness, the story itself actually pretty good to the point that I ended up speedreading the entire volume in a single day. The battles, characters personality, conflicts, world building, and many more are beautifully written.

To sum it up,

Pros :

(+) Solid written characters (from love interests to supporting characters)
(+) Battles are quite intriguing
(+) Awesome Lore

Cons :

(-) Dense protagonist
(-) The build up in the beginning kinda slow each volume/arc but later paid off well in the end

That's it I guess.

actually its nice novel.. Its really take strong of character to not abuse what he have or return hatred with more hatred really is, the MC is more mature and level headed than most of reader that give 1 or 2 star yes people can be cave in by enormous unfair treatment he receive but some can endure and look at the bright end of tunnel and still be decent person and doesn't wish to immerse himself in negative feeling and give their energy to thing that really matter.

Edit :... more>> read ahead the raw is give me dissapointment is why he choose earl doughter rather than the elf who share difficult time together.. Sure he will be died first but a lot of times that kinda girl will last with you for long.. Sigh <<less

Despite having a quite OP skill, the MC still puts forth effort to improve himself and the author isn't afraid to point out his flaws. That being said, the people he meets almost all tend to be the nice, understanding type that hesitate to put any pressure on him, which gets a little difficult to believe after some of the lengths they go to for him without asking any questions. That being said, the character interactions are nice, the skill system is fun, and having simple, straightforward goals to work... more>> towards (and in particular, seeing some pretty significant progress on them after an appropriate amount of time) is quite refreshing to see for an isekai. <<less

this is the kind of novel that the author makes s*upid excuse so the MC can leave the heroines on the air, at first on the 2nd arc its kinda ok but when I pick up the pattern every arc its just lame and become none sensical.

My actual score would be 3.5 but I rounded it up. I'll mention quite a few negative points of the novel but that's because I know it has potential to be great but it keeps disappointing me at critical moments.

This novel isn't bad per se, but I can't call it good either. Like many others mentioned, it's difficult to go through the prologue, but it gets better later. The 1st volume is more slow paced and sets the background for many of the characters including our MC. Whereas, volume 2... more>> is more action -packed. The story itself isn't that new. It's an isekai novel where the MC initially forgets his past life but eventually remembers it to become OP. Frankly, I'm a sucker for this type of isekai novels. The problem with this one is that the MC is all over the place. Even after 50+ chapters, I don't understand the MC. He has a few temporary goals, but I don't see any aims in his life. (Not even slacking) Some may say that he's going with the flow, but to me, it feels more like the author's sloppiness in organizing the story and their lack of foresight. The author is probably creating the story as they go from one volume to the other. And it's fine to do so as long as the character traits are defined. But this MC is so amorphous - there's no way to define him or understand what he wants. He's the typical goody two shoes and I don't understand the motivation behind his actions. For example,

Spoiler

I understand why he becomes attached to the adventurers of the 'Silver Balance' - he met them right after he got free from s*avery and they treated him with much kindness and sincerity. But in vol 2, I don't get why he becomes so attached to Eva. Is it just her face? And yeah, 50% of vol 2 is about Eva's beauty (but she's 12!!!) I mean sure, he saw her grow up for a couple of years, but that's not enough to risk your life and secrets. Even if she will be a harem member in the future, right now it feels a bit forced from the MC's side.

[collapse]

Apart from the MC being inconsistent, the author has the tendency to kill off charcaters that have potential to become interesting. I mean it's better than having nobody die because of the 'power of friendship and justice', but these deaths could have come at a later date.
Spoiler

I really can't get over Raikira's death. This character had much more chance to grow. And his death would've been more meaningfulif it happened at a later date. He had only started to develop as a character and a friend-like figure for MC.

[collapse]

Many of the important side characters are one-dimensional and linear. And I'd blame the author's writing for this, not the charcaters themeselves. The writing seems sloppy at times, so that the side characters like
Spoiler

Eva seem very smart at times and very dumb and wilful at other times. And Mimmino seems to have only one trait in her - kindness. 🐸

[collapse]

As for romance, I'm not that focused on romance when it comes to isekai novels. And this novel hasn't focused much on the romantic aspect till now. However, we have been given a handful of potential harem members. And if the tags are correct, then they will all become members of the harem. Let's see where it goes from vol 3. <<less

I enjoy the flow of this story. Unlike the majority of the genre, MC isn't a complete beta. He has some real emotions and you can connect a bit with his decision process. There are some gaps and places where the story falls flat, but it is overall enjoyable.

Edit: Well the gaps are stretching in my opinion.
Spoiler

How do you have the strongest skill in existence and continue to be a 3rd tier adventurer? Why not make use of your power to copy any skill you see? Instead he putters around and misses every opportunity to get stronger. And scratch him not being a beta. I hate how I sound like an incel when I call him that but JP novels really struggle with a proactive protagonist.

Overall, this seems like a good novel.
I'm enjoying it more towards like a slice of life novel, with bits of action and growth from.
It's an Isekai novel, with the MC having found a bugged skill, but still gotta work hard to prove it's worth, so it's good :)

I will say this immediately before you read skip all the loopholes because if you look into the loopholes about this then you will question the MC decisions too much because the story is better compared to the character and also some may say it is not unique but then why do people love isekai/reincarnation so much is because it is unique and the deepness is in different places and this is unique compared to the other ones because of the comparison from him to another

The first two volumes I found enjoyable but the third volume was rather dull in my opinion and the end of the volume continued to take energy out of things.

Story is normal start weak and grown strong rather quickly. Reasoning behind it is better than normal, but the author throws in a reincarnation with memories for no reason. One of the things I despise the most is when the story could develop without past life knowledge but does it to gain some sort of maturity. Growth of characters can make... more>> or break stories and I would rather read about a kids growth and dealing with past traumas than try to gloss over it to speed up growth of character.

I will go back to reading Volume 4 but I do have concerns about the direction of story from here.

If you like fantasy series with some good action elements involved then you this will probably give you some enjoyable reading time.

I gave this 3 stars because the first 2 volumes were enjoyable but unnecessary reincarnation and bland third volume causes me to drop this by 2 stars.

Spoiler

One other annoyance is that the original FL barely is involved after the opening chapters. While I understand that part of the story involves searching for her but she seems like a very interesting character which is wasted. Author could have done some POV chapters on her and would have probably made the story better.
