I was almost put off with the baity title/lame image title and c*cky description and thinking that this is an amateurishly web novel trying to gather attention, but I was wrong, this is pretty good. It feels like this was written by a professional, the story is engaging and flowing smoothly. The main character have a quite distinct personality, that you might have irritated with him IRL, but it's quite effective for the story. There's also some local Malaysian flavour in it, but it's not intrusive to the storyline.

Psychological horror, of the type that crawls over your skin slowly, so slowly that you are not sure is actually there but still something feels off.

The story is quite good, it's written really well. Though it can be a bit predictable i probably just read too many horror novels and illogical at times, that doesn't hinder the story much.

[spoiler="kinda reminds me of"]The whole premise of fiction melding into reality reminds of what the writers did for the movie "scary stories to tell in the dark." And a lot of parts remind me of other novels and movies but I guess since some of them are a bit niche and cliche it's understandable..[/spoiler]

At first I didn't expect much from it and the first few chapters were ok but then... the plot thickened. I ended up with goosebumps and I really liked it.

It's not the type of gory horror story, it is more of a supernatural mystery/horror kind, so know what to expect.

The story itself was not enough to give me jumpscare or anything. But the everpresent feeling of confusion keep make me thinking something is off, that I might have missed something important. Honestly that's what keeps me going. Overall, I love the book and the smooth writing. It also feels nostalgic with the cultural streak so similar with my own. Although the translation can be a bit tricky but, well, I can always think back to the raw text.
