I Can Do It

For a certain LoL competition, a certain online streamer famous for pissing people off was currently explaining and broadcasting it at the same time.

Streamer: This support, so tr*sh.

Streamer: If that jungler was my teammate, I would already be idling at the fountain and playing piano for him by now.

Streamer: I recommend that this player go back and properly practice how to last hit.

Audience: What bullshit! If you’re any better, then you do it!

Streamer: I, your dad, really can do it.

Audience: Okokok. If you can do it then I’ll chop off my head so you can kick it.

A few months later, the LPL’s veteran pro team TTC announced a new mid laner. A boy with flashy blue hair appeared in front of the audience and played Zed to utter perfection, killing everyone he saw, causing all the female fans to begin toeing the line of infidelity.

During the MVP interview after the match, everyone held their breath and eagerly watched this newcomer.

Only to see the boy accept the microphone, smile and ask, “That water friend with the StarTV user ID ‘Suburb King 101,’ my team’s address is on the official website, when will you be mailing your head over?”

After a certain regular season match finished, the staff member went backstage to urge the team members to go onstage and conduct their interviews, only to see TTC’s new mid laner and jungler standing in the corner.

TTC’s number one ace · jungler daddy Road pressed their team’s new mid laner Soft against the wall. He lowered his eyes and asked slowly, “In the interview later, do you know what to do?”

That quick-tempered mid laner, who had solidified his image as a troll in the audience’s eyes the very first time he went on stage, was currently blushing completely red. “I know. I won’t curse at anyone… I definitely won’t curse at anyone.”

THIS IS FREAKING GOOD!!

It's an e-sports story, so we'll have the most issues dealing with this industry like new comer, Injuries, team conflicts, world championship and all. The pace of the story is good and it's funny too. Mainly the fans of MC is hilarious, I almost got stomach ache from laughing at their comments given to MC. ML is the god of his lane and probably fall in love at first sight with MC. MC have sad past but it didn't shown much in the plot. ML is extremely... more>> dotting and he is wolf fattening the rabbit when it comes to MC. HAHAHA.

It's slow burn romance. ML is MC's idol. The one who showed him a little light in darkest period of his life. ML is like MC's lighthouse during his struggles. It's a sweet story in my opinion. The e-sport game chapters are all so exciting, while reading I felt I was watching a real match and was so excited. <<less

honestly... this novel was a little underwhelming for me, but I think that just comes down mostly to personal tastes in relationship dynamics? it felt a bit... unbalanced personally, like soft was hinging on every/any praise road was willing to give him. just didnt appeal to me specifically

Spoiler

i really REALLY loved xiao bai & pine’s side story though, and i’m actually a bit sad that it was a minor sideplot... I would’ve loved a few more chapters of them being boyfriends 🥺

I don't play LoL but I do play online games, so even though I don't get some of the terms I can still generally understand what's happening. Tiny Salt Translations did a really good job with making everything easy to understand, and the dialogue flows very nicely and casually. The plot is written similarly to a sports anime, which can be a bit diappointing when you actually analyze it. ... more>>
Spoiler

Master and HT were hyped up from the start, but in the end... they're pretty sh*t compared to TTC? I guess it could be attributed to TTC growing, but it's such a lowkey thing that it feels like TTC suddenly became overly powerful. The latter parts seem sort of like the author was venting their own frustration, but I can't confirm since I'm not into the competitive LoL scene.

[collapse]
However, the writing is still emotionally engaging so I only go "hey, wait a minute..." after I've read the chapter and am taking a break. In fact, it's so good that I couldn't stop reading until I finished the entire thing.

Soft/JR/MC is a troll of justice who's also a fanboy of Road/LB/ML. I've been reading a lot of CN danmei recently where the snarky shou scorns the doting gong, so it's very refreshing to see a "kid with a crush" type MC who from start to finish eagerly fanboys over ML, and ML who goes from teasing senior to affectionate pursuer to the kind of doting boyfriend who revenge kills. The side CP is also pretty fun. I'm actually glad they didn't get together in the main story, because their pre-ship CP is funny and adds to the humorous fluffy-ness of the main story. The side story for them is a bit more serious, which can be a bit of a mood whiplash and might be a turn off for people who are coming in for just fluff.

The people in the world are also interesting. The side characters don't just exist for the plot, but they don't show up a lot anyway because the novel is too short for that. The hints of the side characters' lives, like the bits of interaction with LB's parents, Savior's journey integrating to a CN team, Squid guy (??) 's growth from annoyance to comic relief, etc, are all interesting but a bit unfulfilling and abrupt. Even the mob NPCs were generally fun- JR's anti/dad fans are, as a commenter put it, "a world of tsunderes", who are just as snarky and funny as JR and provide our MC with someone to trade barbs with.

All in all, a very enjoyable read for me, and I'll probably look for more of this author's works. (as well as the TLer's stuff) <<less

For a reader who always skips every e-sport novel (because I don't understand T_T), I give this 10 out of 5 stars!

Omg, I'm so in love! My friend always recommends me a lot of e-sport novels, and I always skip them because I don't really have a clue about e-sport. Then, she told me this which translator gives an excellent explanation for the game part.

When I start reading Chapter one... I can't stop. I really like this, no, I'm so in love T_T

The plot is good (again, even though I... more>> don't understand how the e-sport work, I think, now I can understand it, thanks to this novel!)
It's total fluff! And Lil bit hurt/comfort.
overall I really love all the characters on the team.

The MC was a strong character. While the ML, ho ho.. a hidden wolf. hahaha
Also Xiao Bai, oh! He is my favorite besides the main CP.
I so happy that the author creates an extra with his CP. I'm so in love!

and for the translator, thank you for picked up this story. I think I will start looking for another e-sport novel because of this <3
Thank you for the hard work and the explanation! <3 <3 <<less

there's a review in here that I should've listened to before reading. I thought the problem they talked about was minor and wouldn't ruin the experience for me but I was so wrong. (it's the apparent xenophobia in this novel)

Up until chapter 100 it was tolerable, a few snide remarks here and there about the Korean players in the Chinese teams or just really rude stereotypes about Koreans but in the last arc......

Spoiler

To go as far as to claim that " the internet was so laggy that we couldn’t even play the game. We were forced to go to an internet cafe, and it took them quite a few days to fix it! The living conditions weren’t great either"....I get that they want to make it seem like korea is so bad in comparison but ??? to go this far.. it left a very bad taste in my mouth, coupled with how savior and the koreans in his team were treated (also soft mocking the language in the beginning too)

I know the writer made the hatred mutual and I'm sure it reflects what is happening irl to some extent, it made me so uncomfortable reading it.

Also somehow the top chinese players are all hot but the top korean players either look like "nerds" or have pimples and look ugly...?

All of this could've been ignored if the "bug" didn't happen during the match against HT. That was so ridiculous so uncalled for. It made me so annoyed because who would do that... It took things way too far and made it intolerable.

[collapse]

I'm not a LoL player or fan, the parts describing the matches weren't so long and boring, even someone like me was able to enjoy it to some extent. I'm not sure how Esports competitions work but...
Spoiler

at some point they said 100 million people were watching the match when apparently even the League of Legends championship finals didn't have more than 46 Million (but whatever I'm suspending my disbelief)

[collapse]

I rated this novel 3 stars mainly for the couple. I usually don't like age gaps, and when it's an 18 year old with a 23 year old, I usually would find it uncomfortable to read, but in a way since soft was mature for his age, I didn't mind the gap that much. (and.... at least soft wasn't a minor). Nothing spectacular about their romance to be honest but it was cute and took its time to develop.

overall, even if it didn't have the whole xenophobia thing it would still be rated the same. It's a nice read for when you're looking for a cute story that doesn't have any complicated plot. I'm slightly disappointed with how similar the novel felt to the author's other work (PUBG Online Romance of the Century) which I read right before this novel. It was so similar I kept confusing the two MCs (I know the personalities were different). <<less

The number of times I have sat down and refresh the page to check for updates. Ahhh, this is my favourite web novel.

MC is savage but sweet to his boyfriend, his shows his affections in his own manner which I really appreciate. Both MC and ML are interesting persons and they make for a very interesting dynamic. Getting together did not thwart their individuality.I hate it when they get together and the plot turns like this :sharp -tounged MC with 130 IQ turns into a bumbling idiot for ML and... more>> ML like 'ahh, baby don't talk to other men.. Or women.. Don't even look there'.

What a loss it would have been to the Dad fans if Jian rong lost his savagery because of dating?? What a loss would it would have been to the ML ?? Cause I think he appreciates it the most. The book goes like this -*Jiang does some shitassery*, ML *slight smile* that's my baby (or baobei)

The ML does make MC flustered, yes but Jian Rong doesn't break character for the sake of romance and I think we can all appreciate that

Also, tinysalt translations thank you so much for doing such an amazing job !! The pandemic's been hard and being able to witness Jiang rong's shitassery made my days so much better :'' <<less

I love this book the best especially the chemistry and dynamics of soft and road is awesome. The esport and streaming aspect is also so interesting. Don't be put off by the other reviews of xenophobia, the competition aspect of it and the fan wars should not be taken too seriously. I really loved the interactions between soft and his dads hahha love this MC so badass. I get it why road loves him. Read this book I love it more than GHFOD and Pubg

P.s translation is top quality 🖤

Have you ever read something so good you get so mad when you finally catch up to the updated point? I’m upset that I caught up after waiting awhile this passed month to stay behind the updates.

The story itself is overall amazing. I really love the water fans (Soft Dad fans in particular.) I just love their relationship since they troll him for being a troll himself. Their flaming aesthetic is what kept me even during the tough reads. (Xenophobia does exist here but I went in knowing this and... more>> fought through it.)

MC and ML is a literal ethereal power couple. (In the gaming world aspects.) I really love God Lu; he has the right amount of everything. He has great sides, his flaws, shows weakness when needed, and he has a bad side that even I have heart eyes over. (Sorry Soft while I’m a Dad fan for you I’m a GF Fan for God Lu!)

So I’ve read literally all the most popular reads; JZB from GOHTFADO and PUBGOROTC respectively. I love this author writing style. But ICDI brought in alot of aspects for me especially the Team Environment. I loved the friendship in Guide so to get that through the Team especially the like-hate with Bye and Soft I feel full in so many aspects. Ding-ge, I’ll just pray for his crows-feet.

Spoiler

I didn’t exactly like how Savior was treated in all honesty by the MC. I like the growth that displays after the fact. He softens up to him in his own way. I really love Savior even though he’s barely in the story. Wishing for a successful friendship. Soft really sucks at friends...

[collapse]

The five stars is for the fullness of the story. And the over all balance. The Pros seriously outweighs that one Con I mentioned. It sparks up then simmers down.

My read only slowed due to one person but when the antagonist was present I didn’t feel the same type of feelings about it.

Spoiler

I say this only because it was said it gets worse; I guess I’m not at the worse point. Since as far as the antagonist goes they offer up the same feelings towards the protagonist league.

[collapse]

With all this being said try it out until 90. If you feel like it’s not for you, hang it up; but give it a chance until 90. That’s my only advice. My essay is over lol. <<less

I never really write reviews, but I made an account to write a review. This was the cutest I enjoyed it very much yeah it has some questionable parts, but it was still very good, and I loved it. It was not hard to read even though I don't know anything about the game. The characters were also very cute overall I am in love with this novel.

I enjoyed the novel. It was cute, fluffy, and funny. However there were a few elements that made the story "meeeh?" for me.

For example, the ending was a bit rushed. There were a few events in the story unsolved: closure or development with the MC and ML's family when they came out, the world championship, and ML's injury.

The novel definitely could have gone on longer and developed the interpersonal relationships more rather than just focus on the game and even then the games were alright.

This story, although enjoyable and cute,... more>> isn't as well written compared to some other LOL danmei novels.

However, this did have a good balance of love and game elements which is why I rated this a 5 star. Many e'sports novels focus on one or the either and they don't balance it out well. Plus, as the story is fiction, some real life elements are alright, you know for connecting with the characters and such, but if you make it exactly like real life then ill be bored to death. I don't want to be reading paragraph after paragraph about game practices lol, gove me some spice.

Therefore, this novel did a good job on balancing the love and game elements. The author also had a good sense of humor too. I loved the bickering with fans and the comedic background characters. But ngl, I lowkey became annoyed with light bulb xiaobai shining around being a c*ck block for the leads lmao.

That aside, the novel is good. Very cute and fluffy but rushed and meh in the latter half of the story.

4/5

I love everything about this! Since I don't watch esports or play LoL (bad eyesight and hand coordination 😭) I was worried I wouldn't like this. Well as much as the game and vernacular is used in this the explanations or what's going on, interactions between players, the audience reactions, and game descriptions are actually well explained. I love the development of the relationship so far and find the to be the best I've read in a while! And the humor!! I've laughed so many times and so hard in... more>> this too!! RongRong and his water friends are hilarious 😂😂😂 I can't recommend this enough!! <<less

This book was okay.

The MC has a nasty mouth that can insult others. Although the author tries to give us the impression, telling that it's kind of cute, I couldn't help but be disappointed. He talks rudely even to the people who cares about him, who is friendly to him, and it turns out that's how he shows his love. When it comes to the ML he becomes a red tomato instantly.

The ML is the "handsome, hot, super good at what he does", the typical guy in every novel. I... more>> can't even understand why he loves the MC.

This novel was so good at the beginning, but later it was very draggy, repeating over and over. It is also late romance, but later there were some smut, not much, but there was.

I mean, I cannot understand why this book has so many good ratings while it is average. Anyway, recommended to read if you love e-sports genre. <<less

the translation is good and it is completed.

It has the typical plot of other gaming bl but this one doesn't have a lot of challenges in the story. There's a lot of sweetness and fluff as well. There's not enough sweet moments for the MC though. I want more. I'm also inlove with the second pair and I hope there's gonna be a seperate story regarding them.

The author did not even narrated how the MC and ML's parents met (when they became official together) their first meet with parents were... more>> also not detailed compared to others story.

I want more and I really hope the second pairing gets their own story. Please, author.

This story focused mainly on the games with a sprinkle of love and sweetness.

Can recommend this if you want light reading and you like to read, if not then don't read this.

This doesn't have strong plot and have plot holes but plot is established.

I have read a lot of gaming novels written by chinese so I'm not shocked but still disappointed with the xenophobia. (There's some gaming novels that displayed strong nationalism to the point that it is unacceptable but this one does not have so much. Maybe in a low amount but not a lot compared to other stories I read). <<less

4/5 definitely enjoy reading them, the only thing I didn't like is the xenophobia part. All the important Korean character written to be in bad personality except savior. And they were many subtle part that feels kinda racist? Like the simida? I don't why other reviewer wouldn't want to admit that part. I finish reading the novel while automatically filtering this part.

The main story was mid and not what I expected from the author considering how good GHFOD was. I was expecting a funny novel based on the tags but it failed me. YBPGVW did the tr*sh talking character trope much better.

Also the novel does have racism which is common in these type of championship novels, but some parts made me feel uncomfortable. However the good thing was that there were also a few good Korean characters. I don’t see why many chinese authors feel the need to make other countries... more>> the villains? Like it’s fine if you have characters from other countries that are a villain, but why discriminate against a whole country? And many times the descriptions are so inaccurate and blatantly racist that it makes me wonder if they’re truly ignorant or they just hate all other countries and think they’re the best. But this author also had good people from other countries, so it makes me think maybe they had a personal life experience related to koreans which caused this bias.

The only reason I finished the story was for Pine and Xiao Bai. I liked their story way more than the main. I give their extras a 5/5. <<less

One of my favorite esports novels. A bit of an age gap, and they get together basically right after the younger turns 18, but there's no feeling of "waiting until 18" as the romantic feelings don't really start developing until both are adults. The dynamic is of a gremlin MC and doting ML, who was once that gremlin himself lol

A very lighthearted and comedic read, and any sad moments are pretty quickly alleviated. The gaming scenes are not drawn out, and the main focus of this novel is on the... more>> relationships, primarily between MC and ML. For those who want a taste of esports without getting too deep into the semantics. <<less
