Your typical over accommodating OP Japanese main character. He lets people push him around and step on him because of some s*upid sense of "guilt" for something he had no control over. If you want to read about an op character that's practically a s*ave to everyone this is a good choice.

So the Anime ends in volume 5, if any of you are wondering. But because the climax is ended in volume 5 and I think It's a good story to end the anime on volume 5. I kinda understand why, but still... could have make it to 24 episodes or something.

Advice: If you already watch the anime, don't read the novel from volume 6. Read it from volume 1, since the anime skipped a lot so that the anime could finish in 13 episodes. I promise you guys, this story... more>> is worth to read. (Well... for harem fan I guess...) <<less

One advice to anyone who wants to start this series: start from Volume 1, doesn't matter if you watched the anime, it's better if you read the novel from the begining so you don't lose the insane amount of foreshadowing this series has. And please do me a favour and don't drop this novel unless you've read Volume 3, why you ask? Well, it's because Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut is the perfect definition of the "it gets better" mantra.

The first 2 volumes are very generic, with Lux being extremely overpowered... more>> and unrivaled. But then, the third volume shows a deeper plot, the characters start showing their true nature beyond that generic outside cover, and the battles go up a notch.

It is, however, the events between volumes 6 and 14 that truly show why I rate this series as a 5. Much more complex and compelling antagonists such as Singlen appear, Lux is constantly thrown against the ropes due to the new levels of threat he's fighting against, the girls are developed as individuals while their relationship with Lux moves forward, all the while the interesting mystery of the world's nature exists on the background.

And then volume 15 manages to top everything before it, giving us one of the most amazing battles I've ever seen on a light novel, explaining us who the main antagonist Fugil is, and setting a way darker tone that lets the political drama aspect the series had been scratching up to that point fully shine, with all the next volumes following from everything promised in here.

So despite starting as an apparently generic and unremarkable novel, the true nature of this series is an amazing political drama with epic battle scenes and antagonists that totally steal the show and your heart, all while giving us a harem with actually developing romantic bonds not only from the girls' side, but from Lux's as well.

Edit: Now that the novel is completely translated, I can tell you this is indeed a true harem series. So please go read it if you want to read a great, fully translated novel. <<less

While the setting is unique it's still not that amazing of a idea. The main plot though in each novel is great. The author seems to be doing the one female per volume thing which makes one hope it will end in a true harem ending.. But alas we all know all it goes. This novel has it's own waifu war in which if you don't pick Krulcifer you are wrong!.. (Kidding thats my own choice -cough) but anyways I do recommend this to anyone who likes haremy type... more>> novels and comedy bits that come with em. <<less

if you love Date a live you will like this, setting, story and character are pretty good but the MC have no development at all, like a ball got tossing around and rarely made his own decision. Fan translation is over the top and very enjoyable to read. Think getting way better after vol 6

Also anime adaptation is tr*sh so I recommend to read from vol 1 !

I arrived pretty late at this kind of story, several years ago already, so I can't tell if anything in this plot is original, but I can tell everything it does is excellent. This is a must read if you like this kind of story, period.

The action is amazing and thrilling; the drama will sometime makes you cry, sometimes make you laugh, and put you at the edge of your seat; and the romance is well-written thanks to the harem being short and well balanced, with specific volumes tied to... more>> specific heroines —everyone will have their favorite anyway.

There are many interesting characters that make the plot go 'round, not just Lux and the harem. The world-building has some flaws that aren't exactly plot-holes, but it's still very good. And the plot has some mystery elements that can make the story truly shine. <<less

If you want my honest opinion the story is good. Sometimes the dialogue gets confusing and overly complicated. Also some of the scenes. It’s hard to picture the layout of what’s happening often. The characters are good and have depth and evolve well... well. Mostly except the MC. He’s not an overly op MC and has a good standing in the world compared to coming out with all the powers in the world or having to train and train because it’s mostly set up in the back story where his... more>> strength comes from. He does have skill and the strength to back him up but something pretty refreshing is the extra strength he gets from his comrades. Which 90% is his harem. Which I like in all honesty... but he is such a pushover and it makes you think him a coward often and it’s upsetting. There’s way to much hesitation and him acting like has no choice but to be kicked around. Yea some things do change as the story progresses but along with him being overly surprised and screaming “EEEeErEE!” At least once per chapter he will be put down at least twice the amount and per chapter. Also he will repeat information word per word back often. Misunderstandings will 98% of the time will go unresolved that information you put at the back of your head waiting to be brought back up Probally will never be brought back up again 🤷🏻‍♂️. The mysteries cliff hangers and plot come through really well and are enjoyable I will give it that. Where “my” problems with the demeanor of the MC come into play the rest of the characters or story make up well. Good enough that I’ve watched the anime countless times. Read the manga and loved the artwork and character designs so much. And this is my second reading of the novel. <<less

Deciding to read this was a horrible decision. I've seen a bit of the anime and manga and honestly should have thought better than to read this.

The beginning was actually interesting and this could have been a lot better if it had a darker protagonist and none of the Gary Stu and harem bullshit.

Just don't read man. Not worth it

This is my review after reading the entire series. In the beginning it was interesting and mysterious but how it was handled was subpar and could have been much better with a darker tone and a more cunning and ruthless mc

  • Spoiler
    • This series would have been way better if they set a darker tone with a character similar to Singlen as MC instead of giving a dumb harem bullshit.
    • Its the same mary/gary su plot of MC saving everyone with girls falling for him. Similar plot of saving villain girl falling for MC crap.
    • Everyone will survive in the end except of some villains and none of the girl will be killed as author is a pu*sy and it would break the hearts of some snowflake fans.
    • The difference this series had was that main antagonists such as Fugil and Singlen had some actual goals instead of the typical world conquest or destruction that you usually see in these type of novels.
    • The author honestly watched too much fate and decided to make a medieval mecha dumb harem version of it.
    • The problem is that while Fugil can somewhat be based on Archer but Lux has none of Shirou's personality and character development. Instead he is just a generic typical isekas MC that you find in most novels.
    • Singlen was actually a well written character based on concept of Ubermensch who had a personality and clear goal. Also the decision of killing him 5 chapters earlier didn't prove any better
    • Honestly for me the villains deserve better series with actual plot of action, mystery, thriller instead of harem crap that we got.
    • Also the last volume was totally unnecessary and the author was trying to do fanservice as it was nothing but just cringe.
