Cute story, nothing deep but I liked it. The ending was a bit bit rushed and I couldn't find extras, ... more>>
Spoiler

I really wanted to know if the twins got a little sister, why the ML has his issue/ can he ever get close to his mom again, if her brother had kids, if her main maid ever got preggo, and if the original ML became happy

[collapse]
there were some loose ends as well.

I noticed some reviewers had some complaints about her being reborn from current times, that she should have had more issues with the age gap, known more etc but...
Spoiler

she was living in a zombie apocalypse and it was never stated how old she was when zday happened. For all we know she could have just been a child when the zombies came about. She does say she survived for a while, watching all her friends and family die before the zombie king was killed. I have a feeling zombie land was probably more primative than ancient China, so she would have been used to worse. Also, she doesn't transmigrate into the book, she is reborn into it. For the first 16 years she lives as a normal ancient Chinese girl until the flood of memories from her past life and the book come to her. So it makes sense that she would still be okay with the age gap.

[collapse]

I'm not saying this book doesn't have flaws or has deep characters but for me it was easy to overlook. I love the ML, he is old but doesn't know much about females because of his constitution which gave some laughs. The MC isn't an idiot and I like how the author explains why the can't get rid of the books MC easily. I really wish the original ML a good life.

One thing I didn't like was the grey moral area with the grandma
Spoiler

I get that she saved the MC's father from becoming a s*ave or even being put to death, but I feel like the slate should have been wiped clean when her son tried to mu*der them and all the crap the aunt pulled.

Also I think another reviewer had it wrong, the MC's father was the grandma's sister's son. He had no blood relation to the grandfather, just the grandma. The grandma really did do a good thing by sheltering him and put her and her family at risk by doing so. It also said that though she favored her son more she treated him well until he ignored her wishes and married the MC's mom. Then she becomes jealous at his success and his kids success to the point there are no feelings left. So the MC in exchange for her sheltering the dad will shelter that branch. As the dad explained it, he felt guilty because if he wasn't sheltered than main branch wouldn't have tried to kill him and wouldn't had their title revoked.

[collapse]

I didn't like the whole main family story line, it's like the author wanted to add depth to the villians but only did it for the grandma, making her feel out of place. It made me unfulfilled since there was no face slap. <<less

Actually I would give it a 3, but its funny and not has an interesting plot, hence the half star. Additional half and rating of 4 for translators effort.

Pluses

+ Interesting plot

+Funny characters

+Fluffy romance so far

Minuses

- MC is too OP imo. Evwrything comes her easy and she always knows everything. She never meets with obstacles

Spoiler

She's a transmigrator from zombie apocalyptic world and knows she's transmigrated to a rebirth revenge novel, so she knows every future event, like the originalFL.

She has a mysterious ability and can make various magical wines that can cure anything

[collapse]

- ML maybe is funny, but sometimes, he's just plain s*upid

It's not badly written, but it's not a masterpiece. It's an ok and relaxing read, but if you're looking for something like TBVW, ETT, or even GNU, know it's not comparable.

I will wait for updates, but im not that anxious to MTL it to know what happenes later. <<less

It's a 108 chapters, a short yet a very long novel.

The author had many inconsistency at the beginning, and it made me confused to pinpoint which one was the author actually intended to. But I digress.

The relationship between MC and ML is very sweet, and peaceful, no love competition slips in and nothing and no one actually bothers their union.

In more than half of the novel, MC would deal with the supposedly 'heroine' of the novel and all her schemes and it'd continue until the last chapter. I kidd you... more>> not! Both of them, MC and heroine, are like c*ckroaches, difficult to kill and die lol.

The face slapping toward MC's faternal family took place like an half assed process. I guess, after MC got her happy end, she just became lazy with wit or what, and just went on asking help from ML. And many of the heroine's schemes werent explained in detail which was very vexing for me, but I digress.

The heroine predicted all will end n two years, and she'd get her happy end but it didnt get there. And I kidd you not, this novel is short yet a very long one year story. <<less

The kind to pass the time with.

Plot isn't the most thought out and the characters are a bit undeveloped, mostly existing for the MC and revolving around her. The ML especially seems to exist as a response to her if that makes any sense? There's plenty of plot holes but it's really entertaining. It's a mashup of a lot of tropes and cliches so it's really just light reading.

Translation isn't the greatest but it's not really bad. The ch are cut up in many parts that's why the number of... more>> ch available and the number of ch the og novel is comprised of don't match up. <<less

I love this novel! It’s unique and funny. The relationship and interaction between the FL and ML is adorable!

Our FL was transmigrated into a novel about a reincarnated woman out for revenge.

If you’re into face-slapping reincarnated/transmigrated novels, this has it!

... more>> If you’re into a romance with lots of cute interactions between FL and ML, this has it!

If you’re into a novel with smart, beautiful, and a bit of a mary-sue FL, this has it! It’s kinda a battle between a transmigrated and a reincarnator. Who is more capable???

I read this novel until chapter 130 then the translator just kinda slowed down, so I switched to MTL instead. It’s not toooooo bad. It’s readable if you’re patient (MTL’d Chinese novel means messed up pronouns).

I would HIGHLY recommend this novel! <<less

I came for the transmigration drama and I finally stayed for the fluff and laugh

The story is pretty well written and there are a lot of comical moment with good backstory that is added bit by bit so you don’t feel stuffed with all the historical background and the translator did a very good job.

One of the thing I appreciated the most is that you don’t get the very heavy pampering at first sight that you see in a lot of novels but you really see quite a bit of... more>> development between the relationship of the main characters as well as the impact the previous life had on the way they interact Which make the story much more believable and immersive for me <<less

Both MC and Book-FL are mary-sue OP characters, with the Book-FL being more blackened, and revenge obsessed, so much that she destroyed her present... The MC is not too focused on the revenge, but more on living well. The MC-ML interactions are cute. A good read.

!!!!! The translator cut the chapters, so the chapter 97 here is actually the end of the chapter 30 in the original novel. !!!!!

The MC/FL is really cool and the ML is a big dense cutie

This is a typical historical story but don't worry there's nothing that will anger you. The ''villains'' aren't that big of a deal :) (at least where I am)

Good read with VERY short chapters. That’s really my only complaint besides it’s not being particularly original. It’s a good read to pass the time and is filled with fluff. Someone worded it perfectly- it’s a read that doesn’t require thought. Just something to pass the time with and feel content. The fluff makes up for the lack of originality and I love how straight forward the NFL is.

In regards to the one star post, I find that what the reviewer described takes a few things out of context. No... more>> hate towards them but here’s my response to their points-

Spoiler

The NFL recognized that it was purely her interactions with her 5th sister that was ultimately going to lead to the unhappiness of said sister. She distances herself away from the sister not to abandon her, but to make she that the sister doesn’t develop feelings of pity and an urge to seek vengeance for the NFL (which will lead to the sisters downfall). The NFL warns the sister not to hit the bottom line of her fiancé and actually praises him to help the sister develop good feelings towards him. Keep in mind, if the NFL intervened and prevented the sister from getting engage to the fiancé (which she knew for a fact was not actually a bad guy and was pretty decent), it’s unknown whether the sister would be then forced to marry someone who is actually horrible. Additionally, marriages are decided by the parents in this time period and respecting ones elders is valued highly. The fiancé isn’t bad, it’s what the sisters (she’s really the cousin of the NFL btw, just called 5th sister) parents want, and the future is less uncertain. If anything, the NFL is helping the sister out. Just not in a totally active and direct way. The NFL even notes that it was the compassion of her sister towards the NFL that led to her sisters downfall in the past. Therefore, the NFL tries to diminish said compassion.

  • The MC transmigrated into a novel but she didn't know it until that one night she woke up. She already transmigrated when the body was born but just has no recollection of her previous life until that night so she's basically living as is for the past 15-16 years.
  • The novel that MC transmigrated into is about a heroine (OriFL) who got reborn and will exact some revenge plus steals the fiance (OriML) of MC on the second life as she was envious of the love and loyalty that she witnessed OriML gives to MC on the first life. On OriFL's first life, she was a concubine of then emperor who eventually orchestrated her death.
  • The current timeline is when the MC learned that she transmigrated in a novel + OriFL got reborn.

I like this novel mainly because of the protagonists as both have great characters. Their interactions are full of fluff especially when ML got 'heart attacks', so cute ah. I also like that the antagonist was not easily dealt with despite my utmost hate for her. The story may be common but it is still good and something you might want to read to pass the time without investing heavy emotions.

it's a great novel for those who like fluffy, romances with great main leads and a (surprisingly) tolerable villain.

For someone that has read a LOT of books and novels since I was young, the novel's plot was slightly predictable but not boring. I love how the main leads interacted and love how the ML is sweet yet not psycho, domineering yet so, so COOl!!! I also love the FL's attitude in which you will find agreeable once you start reading.

Overall, I highly recommend this!

Got interested from the first few translated chapters and then went and read the rest of the series by MTL.

The story isn't bad, the love between the protagonists is cute. It's nice that they don't really have many obstacles in marrying once things get off the ground. They're very sweet together. Conflicts are resolved pretty easily due to the ML and FL's political and 'magical' abilities. There's a bit of background story about how ... more>>

She didn't really need the whole backstory and it doesn't play much role in the actual story except 'explain' her ability and why she can fight (but basically doesn't for the entire story except in a couple instances).

Regarding the 'antagonists', particularly the original FL and ML. The antagonist's portion of the story is really mostly driven by the original FL, who is 'reborn', like the summary says. She originally

As such, she seeks to basically kill all of the enemies of her past life and strives to get a better life this time around. The only thing is that she does it no matter the means and who she has to step on, even if they didn't wrong her in her previous life. Because she's greedy for status, power, love, etc. she pretty much self-destructs. She pretty much....... envies other people to death. She envies the FL, ends up hating her and plotting against her, though all of her plots are pretty much steamrolled by the power of the FL and ML.

As for the original ML, he

doesn't really do anything bad other than the original breaking of the engagement at the beginning of the story.

[collapse]

Overall, the story is pretty simple, but enjoyable if you don't think too hard about things. Some subplots kind of get forgotten and it feels like the author was hurrying to finish the story near the end. The protagonist-antagonist interactions sometimes read a bit like if you took the vicious FL from a story with normally braindead antagonists and plopped her into a story where those 'antagonists' actually have a normal IQ (and a peaceful mindset)........ oh wait, that IS the story. lol. Highly recommend if you like this sort of genre with fluffiness and the original FL being easy beat. <<less

I've read this novel several years ago, but didn't remember anything about it. I read it again this week. This is an okay novel. Not the best, but average I guess.

It reminded me a bit of I Became The Stepmother of My Ex-husband at certain points.

Yan Shuqing is the antagonist of this novel and resembles the MC of a lot of revenge novels except in character. In character she is very vicious. YS is reborn. In her first life she married King Jin (the brother of the emperor) as a... more>> concubine. She helped him become emperor after the previous emperor died but was poisoned by one of the other concubines, had a miscarriage and couldn't get children after of that. She was sent to the cold palace and had a miserable life. She was jealous of Jiang Ningbao (MC) who had a happy marriage with Xie Jinglian and a faithful husband.

After rebirth she vowed to get revenge on everyone who harmed her in her previous life. At the start of the novel she has been reborn for about 2 years. She has been in contact with JN's fiancee for 2 years and intends to marry him in this life since he seems to be a good husband and she wants her husband to have only one woman. She has also been building up a force of her own and has approached a lot of people who will become powerful later on by pretending to help them.

She also got her hands on a wine recipe which JN got in her previous life and has been making huge amounts of money by selling wine made with this recipe with King Qin (one of the emperor's brothers and rival of her husband from her previous life). However her character is very vengeful. She tries to harm everyone she dislikes and gets rid of everyone who is in her way. She dislikes Jiang Ningruo from the start. Sadly for her JN disrupts a lot of her plans from the moment they meet.

At the start of the novel Jiang Ningbao wakes up after a dream. She dreams she is living in a novel and finds out what happened in the novel. JN lived in an apocalyptic world previously and was reincarnated in this world. She has been living in the novel world for 16 years now. She has known about her previous life from birth (didn't drink Lady Meng's soup). She has been pretending to be a weak woman all these years. She also looks very weak and fragile. Her parents didn't want her to show her strong side. In the apocalyptic world she was quite weak and her only strength / gift was making medicinal wine. In this life she can be considered quite strong for a woman, but she never really fights with anyone except when she practices with her husband. She opened a shop selling wine and tea when she was young and has been making a lot of money with this shop. Since she was 11 she has donated half of her profit to help soldiers and their families anonymously. Her parents have been missing for 3 years. After that she and her brother have been treated quite poorly by her father's relatives. Her father made a lot of money and her family (grandmother and uncle) took all his properties after he went missing. MC only managed to keep her mother's dowry thanks to her mother's family who live far away.

The antagonist of this novel is the MC of the original novel.

In the first chapter JN's fiancee sends a servant to tell her family he wants to break off their engagement. He saved YS when she fell (deliberately) in the water at a party and wants to marry her. JN replies she wants to marry his adoptive father Xie Xun as compensation.

Xie Xun (according to translation, description calls him Xie Heng) has been invaded by 'evil spirits' since birth and people can't stay near him very long because of that. They get sick when they are near him. XX is known as the God of War of their country and a nephew of the emperor. He has adopted XJ assuming he will never have a wife and children since women can't stay near him. Even his mother has to stay away from him.

Because of that he is very innocent with women and doesn't know much about getting along with JN. His mother thinks of him as a block of wood after his first contact with JN. JN decides to be pro-active at the start because of that.

Spoiler

JN writes XX a letter saying something like her heart beats faster when thinking about him. The same thing happens to him when he thinks of her so he calls a doctor to check them out, thinking they have heart problems. :-).

[collapse]

JN admired a very strong fighter in her previous life who committed su*cide after killing the zombie emperor (he was bitten and didn't want to become a zombie). The stories about XX reminded her of this fighter. That's why she proposes to marry him. When they meet JN shows she has no problem being near XX, so they agree to get married. They get along very well from the start and there are no problems or misunderstandings between them in the novel.

All of this is explained at the start of the novel and in the description, so it's not a spoiler.

I read in one of the reviews that reader questioned why MC didn't stop her parents from disappearing, but MC only found out about living in a novel when her parents had been gone for 3 years when she was 16. And the novel also didn't mention why they disappeared. JN finds out about that later on.

Another reviewer mentioned she disliked how JN dealt with her cousin Mingyao who is a pretty nice person. However I agree with Gabi094 on this. JN never acted against her cousin, she just distanced herself from her because of what the cousin's parents did. Mingyao also showed several times she would side with her parents against JN even knowing what her parents did. Yet another reviewer mentioned they didn't understand why JN and her parents forgave JN's grandmother and had her uncle's title and position reinstated. I do understand that. I oftentimes think Chinese novels take filial piety way too far (though it probably also worked that way in reality), but in this case I can understand it.

Spoiler

JN's grandparents from father's side and his entire family were convicted (innocently) by the previous emperor. Her grandfather divorced her pregnant grandmother to let her escape the exile. The grandmother's sister (Mrs Jiang) agreed to pretend to be pregnant and raise the child she gave birth to as her own, to give the child a better future. The grandmother died while giving birth to JN's father and her father was then adopted by his uncle and aunt (Mr. And Mrs. Jiang) who pretended he was their child. He always assumed they were his real parents.

Mrs. Jiang always treated her adoptive son well. It was only when he got married that she started disliking his wife and children. Part of the reason was that MC and her brother were much better than her real grandchildren.

So she saved JN's father from exile and raised him in a good way even though he was not her real son.
[collapse]

According to the novel JN dreamed of she would fight with YS for a year to keep her fiancee, before losing and ending quite miserable. JN is not interested in her fiancee and proposes to marry his adoptive father when he wants to break off the engagement. The JN of the novel does not seem to resemble the MC, so I guess she was replaced at birth? This never becomes quite clear to me.

I kinda felt sorry for JN's ex-fiancee XJ. He is a pretty decent man. He fell in love with YS and decided to break off his engagement with JN because of that, which would result in ruining JN's reputation. But for the rest he was pretty righteous.

Spoiler

He has a very unhappy marriage with YS and divorces her pretty fast.

YS is quite pro-active during their wedding night, because of her experience in her previous life, resulting in him thinking this is not her first time and distancing himself from her. At that point I kinda felt sorry for YS.

XJ loses his position as first heir of the duke after JN gives birth to children. It was always assumed the duke would never have children.

He then starts dreaming about his happily married life with JN and regrets breaking up with her. He comes to the conclusion that YS can see the future. However JN is already happily married with children at that time. He never acts against JN. He finally marries someone who somewhat resembles JN.

[collapse]

I noticed that in most cases the servants are more seriously punished than their masters who ordered them to do criminal things. I guess it also worked / works this way in reality? A few examples:

Spoiler

-Aunt Zhang decides to poison MC so she can't have children after she visits her home after 3 days of marriage. MC notices this right away and still takes the poison (she knows the antidote, quite s*upid it seems to me, what if she has already become pregnant in these 3 days, will this then affect her pregnancy?, but whatever). She pretends to let everyone at the table eat this poisoned food and then discloses it has been poisoned. Her aunt's servant is executed and her aunt is exiled.

-MC finds out her uncle ordered bandits to kill her parents so he can get his hands on their money. He is jealous of his brother. The bandits are hunted and killed. The uncle loses his title and his official job and that's it.
