The premise is nice. I have to say it. I'm a fan of kingdom building too, so that helps it more. But the problem is, it suddenly went from 0 to 100. Suddenly a supposed crappy production job turned the poor village to a impenetrable fortress in JUST a few days and made them capable of killing a pack of armored dragons like nothing. He also seems to have near infinite mana which makes everything possible for him. It's my opinion that when writing kingdom building stories, it's very important... more>> and much more enjoyable to have the MC go step by step, and to overcome the difficulties one at a time. It should've taken him at least a year to turn that village to what it is right now. I mean, what's the fun? "I got up early in the morning, ate breakfast and built a dozen buildings before lunch..." Create an actual challenge. limit his mana greatly at first, make it hard to control and build complicated things etc. Make him solve the problems of the village one at a time, and slowly at that. That's the joy of kingdom building.

The other problem is that the MC is 8 years old and it's going to be a very long time before we even see him being an adult. Actually if he really goes with his current pace, he'll be an emperor before he is 12. And tbh I don't enjoy reading a story about a little kid becoming a king, and worse, enduring marriage and romance talks of said kid. It would be much better if he was older. <<less

Just to point out, after chapter 43, the translation is switched to a not even cleaned up much machine translation as you'll find people with two different names (sometimes in the same chapter) genders unknown again and just wrong translations like "Ballista" becoming "barista" and such. Kills the momentum of enjoying the story every time you have to pause as your mind goes 'wait' and self corrects about the tenth or so time.

I'm only a few chapters in so far, but it is a fun read so far. It does not seem to be as serious as some similar stories, but if you're just looking for a fun, light read, I'd highly recommend this one.

Spoiler

Even though MC gets kicked by his family when it turns out that he has a "useless" magical aptitude, he seems to have a decent relationship with his oldest brother, just that his two other brothers and his dad are tr*sh.

So far it looks like a lot of the classic kingdom building, and underestimated protagonist tropes are showing up in this story, but I don't think that it is a bad thing to have those; if you don't like a lot of recycled tropes though, this story may not be for you. <<less

I love this reincarnated lord novel. The MC uses failed type of magic that everyone thinks is worthless, but in the hands of a modern day man. That is no longer true. With enough material he can build anything. The best part he can take it to the the pinnacle of an item or even to the next level. I can’t wait to see what he does next. I’ve read up to chapter 27. Highly recommended. Great read.

A decent one compare to most JN out there. I wouldn't say is that good but still okay enough to pass the time. The MC is your typical super nice guy who act like a adult in a kid body. I wouldn't call him a genius because he is pretty dense and silly in my opinion but because he is in a child body, everyone considered him a genius which is not really true.

Personally I don't really like his personality which is so carefree and doing things so recklessly without... more>> being cautious of his surroundings. He is living in a dangerous world where the strong ruled so I wanted him to be a little more alert.

Basically the whole story is full of plot holes if you truly focus on it but because this is focus on comedy too, I think you can ignore most of these little details. A average novel. <<less

The title really speaks for itself here. The entire premise of this novel is encapsulated in the title alone, with the key points being:

  1. Easy-going
  2. Production Magic
  3. Territory Defense
If any of these points appeal to you then I suggest you give it a shot, at least for a few chapters.

Simplicity is both a major strength and a severe weakness to the plot. Being "easy-going", nothing truly happens in the grand scheme of things. The MC is focused solely on improving his village and doesn't give a damn about anything else. While there are... more>> sprinkles of romance and politics subplots throughout, they are quickly side-lined in favor of "I need to keep building more walls!". The MC is literally an endless labor factory; producing anything and everything the village needs. The vast majority of characters remain stagnant in their portrayal throughout the story because the main focus is "territory development" and not character development. Even the MC remains pretty much the same as when he started, "A genius 8-year-old with production magic".

All the being said, I still find this novel to be pretty interesting. Even if the characters are "stagnant", they are still decently fleshed out. The cast of characters is also decently large so their interactions have not gotten boring for me just about yet. I will say that the innovations to weapons and architecture in the story are top-notch. Pretty much all the things introduced by our isekai MC are grounded in reality (even if they are produced by magic), and you can really tell the author did his research to provide accurate portrayals of technological advancements from the Middle Ages and Early Modern history.

If you enjoy world/village building then this novel is for you. Just keep in mind that this a slow burn, and not much has happened in almost 100 chapters. Overall I'd give the plot a solid 3/5 for the potential it has.

As for the English translation, it is extremely rough. Both translators of the novel use MTL with minimal to no editing. I haven't run across too many unintelligible parts, but they do exist. I really want to say I have read worse MTL, but truthfully speaking the translation barely qualifies as "subpar" if I was being generous. It won't give you a headache, but you'll still need to do some mental gymnastics to piece everything together. Overall, I'd rate the translation as a 1.7/5. <<less

Weird direction, enjoyable experience

Typical JP territory novel. But stakes feel weird. King is immediately his BFF and the worst he can do to his A-hole dad is be slightly rude. Randomly becomes a war novel for 30 chapters. He uses powers very practically even if sometimes subdued and uncreative.

Characters are randomly forgotten, rip maid/bodyguard. Humor is "Women being assertive is funny" which does nothing for me.

Overall its definately competent and enjoyable. I ragged on it a lot but did enjoy my time.

The story can be fun and interesting to read with somewhat cliche characters and predictable plot so it not most original work. Palatable without any excessiveness. BUT translation after chapter 42 by FanTranslation is absolute dogs!!t even worse than google translate. By all accounts it is machine translation without even edition and proofreading. So I'd rated it 4 stars for story but atrocious translation lower it to 3. If this "translator" ask for donation for work then its absolute scam on par with ponzi scheme. ChatGTP can get you better... more>> translation so avoid "FanTranslation" like plague. <<less

EDIT: Forgot to say - The Translation is really... meh. Sometimes you have to guess what is meant and sometimes you have the same sentence repeated in a different word flow like the translator forgot to choose the right draft and let both in. Headaches are sometimes inevitable. The review below is for the story, not for the translation.

The Story is nice and fluffy.

Reincarnated Person is the Son of a Marquis who is straight focused on Battle prowess like most of the Kingdom. As Protagonists Magic was production oriented... more>> he was thrown away like garbage to a far away settlement near the borders where nothing is really developed.

As he has the knowledge of higher Science through his past life and is able to modify Materials with his magic you can imagine how much shenanigans he creates with modifying Materials on molecular basis and an extreme efficient magic or just a Manapool that bottoms out after the heaviest of constructions.

There is conflict, but it is more a rare spice as the main focus is more on the loss of common sense from people seeing the "small village"...

Spoiler

... and later on the peed off reaction of his father who threw him away, just to see a small rural town overshadow his whole fiefdom and outshine even the Capitol of the whole Kingdom.

It has a pacing problem. There's a lot of jesus-sama. I'd have love this with better pacing because the star design is REALLY cool. Which I think that is what the author really wants to play with more. I feel like though I can take it as is and it's pace isn't fully awful. I like if they did a better job of developing these "hints" of side characters but I'm an alcoholic who always developed alts in rpgs. People running around in wooden armor is cool but I'd like... more>> it better if he'd use the dwarf and all the power he has to actually be smarter about the "human/magical" power in his village.

But this concept of insta build village stuff is something I've seen like three times and I'm kind of wondering where it will be going. <<less

The territory keeps developing, but not the characters. The MC still the same child as he is in the 1st chapter, literally nothing changed about him. Arte too, most of the time she just got ignored altogether. Even though her background story can be expanded upon so much.

It feels so directionless so far.

Fabulous translation and story. Personally, I absolutely love the village growing, although it’s quite fast and it could soon even potentially, become a country as of itself. Translator note is very entertaining and funny as well. Translation good so far and I can’t wait for more.
