A painfully conspicuous master adventurer, Dale.

Due to a certain request, he set foot in a deep forest and by chance, encountered a severely underweight and thin young girl of magic lineage. Unable to leave the girl, Latina, who carried the branding of a criminal, Dale reluctantly decided to become her protector. However―

“Because Latina is too cute, I don’t want to go to work.”

―Before he realized it, he had completely gained a parent complex!?

One of the cutie cuteness story in this novel update that bring your tear to your cheek and keep your eye moist for sometimes. It is also well written when it comes to the sad part I just skip through it because I don't have enough courage reading it. The writer just skilfully show how to express the cuteness of lil girl which adorable enough that I want to have lil daughter but heck, It would be like 0.0000000001% chance with my gene. So most of you keep that in... more>> mind that you will never get kid with so much adorableness like this MC's daughter and keep dream on. if you like story that keep you rolling on the ground dreaming, sitting on chair smile silly and tear flowing. This could be one of novel that have unique plot. But I would like to give 4.5/5 tho since later the story is lil bore to me like from chap 40-48. anyway its still one of the best cuteness novel that i've ever read. <<less

Not gonna lie, my own culture also has something similar to this, it's in our test. Though it's more of a "wholesome childhood crush to wedlock" kind of thing, so it's more tamed than this story. Also, the age gap is around 7-10 years. Like it's not even that big of a gap, imagine a 27 yo woman and a 35 yo man.
With "The tales of Genji" somehow being Japan's go-to for literature, I'm actually surprised that there weren't that many works of the same theme. Wait, there are... more>> a lot of them, more than I can remember.

And for Dale's defense, he didn't raise Latina as a bride-to-be, but as his precious daughter, so please, don't be so tough on him, or the author.
Of course from a moral standpoint, it might be on the grey or straight-up guilty. And I agree. Especially for Christian, it's forbidden for those who are related to marry (yeah right in your face in*estuous French royalty). But as mentioned before, I'm fine with that.
All and all, I love this story. <<less

Nothing pulls off cute as well as this novel. You will literally taste irresistible adorableness in each chapter of this parent and child story.
Spoiler

Might Develop into a story of an Hero who raised the Demon King or Demon King who raised the hero, and they eventually have to fight each other, but dale the father-like figure is unlikely to go along with that premise

I won't like judge anyone cause you know we all have our view on the subject that is the relationship between the father and daughter.

However I do have a right to criticize that in no way anyone who read this would expect a big change that going to happen.

Tags doesn't say the author started it off with everything seemingly innocent. I dropped this cause I suspect that it didn't seem right and I saw some art that sort of spoiled me.

I get it okay it's not blood relation and she... more>> is a demon. But clearly I'm not the target for this. I don't blame the translator but I blame the author for not making it clear or even make the first halve like that and then somehow the changes afterwards would make the readers symphatetic enough to accept this relationship. I'd rather they told me straight up that it is what is is from the tags at least then when I read it I know what I'm in for. Clearly I'm not in for it cause I already have a different expectation so it soured my experience.

I won't force myself to read it again since I am not looking for this genre (I have read in*est btw) and my expectation and experienced really ruined. So it's hard to get back into again. So if anyone don't mind it go right ahead. You guys now know what to expect so you won't be like me who already not on board with what I was not prepared for. So I hope you guys enjoy reading and have a good day. <<less

Disclaimer: This review is based on my reading of the LN.

This novel is easily amongst my favorite, and a reread from me is long overdue.

I think this story can be divided into two parts:

Spoiler

The first part details the fluffy father-daughter relationship of the two main leads, and the second part changes this into one that is husband/wife. Given that this is purely a work of fiction and the hints the novel drops early on, this development is done tastefully and executed well all things considered. Don't get me wrong - in real life, I'd be a lot less understanding here.

[collapse]

There are good action and fight scenes spread throughout the novel for the battle junkies that somehow made their way here. However it successfully keeps to its fluffy insulin-requiring slice-of-life roots and concludes with a satisfying ending. <<less

Uchi no Musume does take a route not unlike Usagi Drop, one thing which a lot of people seem put off by. What it boils down to is it's a story about a young girl who is saved by a hero and becomes his ward. She's had feeling for him since the beginning, but it isn't until she's grown up that he can come to terms with this.

The story is heartwarming and wholesome, starting off and ending very slice-of-life. At some point, Dale (an exceptional hero) has to rescue Latina, going on the war path to slay the seven demon lords of the continent. So in summary, it goes from being slice-of-life to being a lovely fairy tale adventure, back to being slice-of-life. The author has included a few side stories, including the story about how Latina's parents met and some of her child life.

[collapse]

Dale himself is fairly bland (overpowered, and this only gets worse later on), and the writing is itself conscious about this (he is often pointed out as deplorable as though it's some kind of punchline) but it gets slightly less obnoxious later into the series. The main redeeming trait to Dale is the fact that Latina does have feelings for him. Other than said hero, most of the characters are fun (even if they aren't all realistic).

The writing can be somewhat clutzy, but overall it doesn't really overextend and manages to tell the story that it more or less set out to. The pacing for side chapters was somewhat jarring and it took me a while to get into them when I wanted to see the main story told, but in retrospect the prequel chapters about Latina's parents and childhood is one of my favorite parts.

Uchi no Musume's artwork deserves special mention, as it is all incredible. Seriously, it's worth picking up this series just for the excellent artwork! I can't overemphasize how well it's done, really.

Especially now that this series is complete, I can highly recommend it. I read it on bookwalker and would suggest if you read and enjoy this series that you vote with your dollar as well. Definitely consider giving it a shot, it's quite good! <<less

I love it! For a change no reincarnations. And it's so sweet, although the translator isn't the best one I know.

This was wholesome, I tend to avoid these kinds of stories where the protagonist gets emotionally close with fantasy people that could outlive 10 human generations in its lifespan.

It was a cute read.

I mean, what can I really say? It's a very good story, but how much you will like it is incredibly subjective, especially with a wn like this. I can't go into too much of why this is without revealing spoilers, but this is a story of massive character progression (over 9 years), and is highly focused on the adopted child's development.

UchiMusume touches on a variety of themes, like parental relationships, but also coming of age, mortality, and romance. I feel like I would be doing a disservice to future... more>> readers if I don't mention this right now:

Spoiler

Yes, Dale and Latina get married, but no, not usagi drop style. In my opinion it's handled very well, and makes it seem like it *almost* wasn't strange at all to begin with.

[collapse]

I think it's worth a read, it's certainly the kind of wn that'll make you feel a hell of a lot less lonely. <<less

Long story short. It's like watching a kid/plant/animal you're taking care of grow and developed in life. So what you're reading is like a reading as story of how your kid grow. With events happening and such, its really an excellent read for many.
Additionally, the Female MC is cute and adorable. Its irresistible. :)

I rate this a 4.5/5. Only absolute masterpieces get 5/5, and while this is excellent, it hasn't quite reached that level :P

Well, frankly put, this is a very nice, if slow paced, slice of life novel. It has the struggles of a young adoptive girl, a young man that picked her up, and their daily lives dealing with their friends. It has emotion, feeling, and everything good in a story of this genre. No overt drama, completely in-your-face bs circumstances that says "pity me" like a lot of other stories... more>> do.

It's all just pure, heartfelt emotion between a newly paired adoptive daughter and father as they go through life. <<less

I created an account just to rate this novel 5/5 and mention just how amazing it is

No other story has pulled my heartstrings and kept me smiling while reading like this one has in my 22 years of life (and I've read a lot in that time), an absolute must-read for anyone looking for a wholesome, well-written tale

Such a cute story of a parent and a child.

Latina is adorable, and Dale's love for Latina is so sweet. Much needed eye-bleach after reading heavier novels.

If you need a pick me up after reading some depressing story, this is definitely worth a try. If you are looking for something to read and you like peaceful, happy stories, this is definitely worth a try.

Fufufu.

Let's start with the pros.

1. It's unique in its own way. Unlike most novels who focus on surprising the readers with the action and fights or the novels where they let the readers feel that romantic tingling feeling when a romantic scene occurs. It soothes the heart with sweetness that can cause diabetes, the sweetness isn't from romance from opposite genders, it's more like the sweetness coming from parental love.
2. Unlike some novels, the side characters actually develop and advance, whilst supporting the main characters.
3. You... more>> rarely see any clichés. Like how other protags saves a girl and captures her heart.... (well... it only happened once in this novel).
4.) Latina is cute...... nuff said.

Cons.

Spoiler

1.) On chapters 80+ the fluffy and the sweetness slowly disappears and some serious non-fluffy stuff happens.

That's the only thint I hated, but latina's cuteness makes up for that.... So 5/5
