Love this novel due to how novel it is, heh.

In a world of xianxia novels that are martial arts heavy IRAS is a breath of fresh air. Although the plot could be considered formulaic in the sense that MC encounters challenging scenario and overcomes it, the novel never becomes repetitive. If you enjoy "face-smacking" and seeing the antagonist be forced to eat humble pie then you'll enjoy this novel.

Another good point is that the MC has a clear goal that he is progressing towards. As of c622 Zhang Ye is... more>> a B list celebrity and I imagine as he keeps climbing the rankings his feats will accordingly grow in scale in order to generate greater popularity.

All in all, IRAS is a great comedy novel with a resourceful character that always, at least up to now, manages to come out on top no matter the scale of adversity he encounters. Give it a chance, you've got nothing to lose. <<less

This novel follow one single partern: MC discover a new job. MC rip off anything that are popular in the previous world that not exist in the current world and claim that he make it. MC destroy all s*upid idiot. MC lost his job and then repeat.

This novel is good for the first few hundred chapter but think get repetitive later on. His cheat system (aka: plot armor) is so strong and the writer is not even trying to hide it. It is like putting an adult intellect, streght against... more>> a bunch of children in kindergarten and that adult is beating the sh*t out of all the kid.

If you enjoy watching adult beating sh*t out of the kid, this is the novel for you. If not then I advise you to turn away. <<less

It's a breath of fresh air from the normal wuxia novels of cultivating. If you want to break away from the usual cultivating stories, but has similar aspects this is for you. It's almost the same thing except switched over to a literary route. The plot is very interesting and I like how the protagonist has a 'never give up' attitude. Lots of the situation is very amusing.

However, although this is an entirely new world everything seems very conveniently 'lacking' compared to Earth. It seems like the author took... more>> the lazy route. Instead of fleshing out the world and trying to convince us it's a real place... I can't help but feel everyone in the world is fake. Every setting and character feels fake.

Although I say the setting is very bad, the plot is strong so people will still be able to read through it. There are some heart wrenching moments which I think is awesome.

The romance.... feels like something right out of hentai. It's hard to read because there is so much mol*sting-vibes. I have to skip over them. (seems some chapters the country even censored and made the author delete... but they survived in the translated version)

After awhile... although I really like the story I had to stop reading because of the mol*sting and pe*vert aspects. <<less

Aiya, this wasn't really the best novel out there, there are a lot of unrealistic developments (mild), some frustrating happenings, as well as a vicious cycle that is ever present in the novel. But, well, like the Zhang Ye fans in the book, I still can't help but like Zhang Ye as well as the novel itself.

There really were a lot of frustrating stuff to deal with, the author always makes it so that the situation will always lead to the MC getting into trouble. The MC offends everyone! Well,... more>> almost....

The works from our world being used there, not a bad idea, but there are a lot of times where it feels like it's just overhyped.

MC is really too much of a racist, but that doesn't really bother me, just that it's a bit uncomfortable to read sometimes. It's sometimes good, just that it lools like he's looking for trouble with them if the situation arises.

This novel has got to have the most cons of the ones I've read, but I can't really stop. Why? It suits my taste really well.

Although it's a bit repetitive, I like how it's always an underdog story, and although it's blindly obvious the author is deliberately pushing him down at times, I just ignore it, and then I get to enjoy it. It's like peanuts, peel the... outer layer to get the nut....

What I appreciate most from this novel, although unrealistic, is the weibo and media stuff. It's pretty educational, although not true, I at least got the gist of it.... I'm sure it's exaggerated, don't look at me like that.

It's a bit late to say this, but I really like the concept. Pretty much a casino cheat power. It's really convenient.

The one thing I am disappointed at is.... spoiler alert!!
Spoiler

The Romance!!!

Such a shame.

Well, actually, it's still good, but what I'm disappointed at is that it could've been better. The foundations were really good! The female characters were all interesting, with me being fine with any of them ending up with the MC. Must be the modern setting....

Anyway, what I'm disappointed at is that although he chose the besto girlu, the way he wooed her is what the f*cking hell. Aih, just thinking about it really makes you cry for justice. What happened was that he got jealous of best girl being sent flowers and confessions on Valentine's. And so, he bit the gun and told her that he likes her basically. It really makes me want to kill myself. He won her over with a poem, and just... so disappointing. Author makes up for it, but what happened happened. Another thing I really hate is that.... I'm losing my mind!!! Okay... so... this is a personal problem, but it really makes me disappointed on him. There was this one time where best girl casually asks him to stop smoking, and he just brushes it off. I personally hate smoking, so I got sad when he just brushed that off like that.

[collapse]

Last thing I wanna say I guess is that this novel reminds me of two people: Pewdiepie and Duterte. Hahaha! MC and these two makes don't fear the media. <<less

Although the MC can get really annoying and nationalistic at times and the story overall is really funny. It's guarantee to make you laugh and people need to take this as slice of life novel. It's not a really serious story and is a good break from all the high intense wuxia novels and such.

Overall my rating is 4 out of 5. Different readers have different taste so has I.
Spoiler

Pros:
- Nationalism (this one has a good feel of Nationalism on it but it became worst on the later chapters to the point of Racism)
- Literary Compositions (some of the literary works are great, dunno if it really exist, I'm lazy to do a research, but when you read some of those, you can really feel the power of those words)
- Comedy (Well, no question asked, but this depends on how to you take it, for obviously some are offensive to others)

Cons:
- Sequence of events are repetitive (MC plot goes like this, MC begin a new a career>MC perform well>some people are unhappy so they try bringing MC down>MC tr*shes them down>MC got a bad reputation in an employers's point of view (which is really obvious) >repeat cycle
- Racism (Well if you're like me who doesn't care at all which type/kind of nationality/person you are, maybe you can endure it)
- MC's Personality (rationally it's bad but I think it's one of the MC's selling point but in my POV it's bad so I still put it in cons)

About the romance, well I admit it's quite bad on the start because the MC is kinda s*xual harasser but when he did got a girlfriend, it becomes good until now. Don't expect much though

- After a while, it's not about plagiarizing but more learning about Chinese literature. Through IRAS, we learn such amazing works and IRAS introduces (and explains) these works in context naturally.
- However, I can't take the "romance" (and increasingly so as it gets worse) as the love interests and the pervy way he goes about them is so unnatural so I always skip those chapters
- This novel is highly recommended for laughter but definitely not romance.

EDIT: 3.5/5 stars

IRAS is a amazing novel, and has a interesting concept with decent character development. As for the MC he's a shameless person, with a righteous personality, and ultra-nationalism. There's are some concepts that are over used, but that shouldn't stop you from trying this novel.

Saw this particular novel months ago in Gravity Tales (around June) and noticed it has an overwhelming number of positive reviews, when I checked the Description I immediately put off the notion of reading as I was not really interested in the genre. Months later when I already read the latest chapters of the novels (dozens) I've been following and got nothing left to read in my reading list which was interesting enough for me, I happened to see that IRAS had a new chapter update and it still has... more>> great reviews and high ratings so I figured I'd try reading it as I had nothing else better to do. A few chapters in and I was hooked! And I thought to myself "WHY DIDN'T I READ THIS EARLIER!?" It was really entertaining and had me laughing almost every chapter, even my parents gave me weird looks while I was holding my laughter, laughing out loud or wearing a foolish grin while reading. Even had to skip a couple days of work cause I can't seem to stop reading til the latest chapters, from then on I always looked forward for a new chapter release. I'd totally recommend this. <<less

I read it due to all the hypes about it, but was disappointed. Normal day plot lines where the MC just goes about his normal life is quite boring, the only interesting part was when the MC fights others. But other than the times when MC uses his knowledge or skills gained from the lottery, the rest of the story is not that interesting, just a normal day life. And main thing, the hypes about the novel were about how it was so funny. There are indeed funny parts but... more>> not that much. Well, it wasn't that funny to me, especially when the author kept repeating, 'what was xxxxxxxxxx' 'this was xxxxxxxxxxx'. I wanted to laugh, but couldn't. Well, that's my review. It is a good novel, overall, but not by much. <<less

I am a sentimentalist so I have to give it a four but truly I would give it a three. This story lack complexity and it lack character development. The main character is a pe*vert but it doesn't compute well into the story and feels a little forced in the story. It is a funny story and I love it but on a literary scale, it is not high. It has great poems in it that I love but it doesn't really contribute to the literary scale. Now, it is... more>> not at all that bad.

The MC is awesome! Like the coolest guy ever. He is powerful even though he is not weak. His character, apart from being a pe*vert, is really awesome, stubborn, and creative. You will be s**ked in this story and will want the MC to win every confrontation he has. However, there are small parts when the author makes that audience reaction seem force. He is funny but to an extent. Over a cool story. You should read <<less

Awesome novel. It has everything, although the romance is very strange.
Spoiler

The MC just keeps touching females without actual romantic progress, maybe the author wanted to give him a flaw cuz he's just awesome xD

[collapse]

But I still gave it 5/5 because even if you desire only romance, this novel will make you totally forget that.

I check the translation every weekend and every time I find many chapters with good quality. Anyway, I just wanted to thank the author and the translators for providing us with this masterpiece, Hur Hur.

Honestly, all I expect from this type of novel was the author copying and rephrasing while showing how smartass their MC was. But, who would expect using parallel world concept can make something this grand? Outright plagiarizing of masterpieces to another world with an MC who's hard to hate is damn COMEDY. Concept aside, it is best said you'll never regret reading this.

This is such a fun read I wished I could read Chinese so I could finish this. It took me a while to discover it and I regretted that. Trust me people, give this novel a try. It is such a fresh breath from the plethora of xianxia/xuanhuan stories out there. The MC is funny and his troll army is awesome. You get insights on so much Chinese culture and there are so many laugh out loud moments. The translator does such a great job giving links on the Chinese... more>> culture/meme/songs etc mentioned that you get another aspect/understanding of the story.

I love the way he scolds the people who offends him and pretty much publicly destroys their faces. It is so satisfying. I wish there were more novels like this out there as I am pretty burnt out with the xianxia/xuanhuan genre.

Edit, as of 24 Oct 2016 I could not wait and read the machine translation to around 900+. I found myself laughing out loud so many times in the latter chapters. This series just gets better and better. Personal opinion - some chapters around 200+ and 400+ was a bit boring for me as he was in a period of struggle. I did not like the hacker arc or the Japanese arc. But as for the rest. Seriously, you need to read this laugh out loud story. Once I catch up to the release I will go back to the translation as Legge and CKtalon does an amazing job, not just with the translation but also giving links to the poems, songs etc that were mentioned and thereby giving even more understanding and immersion to the story. <<less

Classic is the best word for this story because it has many aspects from poems to stories it makes you want to be in situation like the protagonist is in, which is hardly anyone would think about nowadays in Chinese novels. The humour is the best, his s*xual harassment of female leads are quite good and mainly his unwillingness to bow down to injustice makes him the perfect role model you are looking for.

All in all its pretty good to read it makes us a realize a simple fact that... more>> "Nothing is impossible as Impossible says I-am-possible". <<less

Amazing novel so far. You learn many interesting things reading this and its funny. The only reason I really wanted to give it 4 star and not 5 star is because the translators translated a version that had many part of the book cut off. No blame to them for it because the author deleted those because of china new regulation for adult material etc but you feel the novel as a whole isnt complete without it. This isnt a action novel, its a funny novel with romance/adult stuff and... more>> removing the adult stuff is like skipping battles in a xianxia novel. <<less

This is fantastic. I never review, and usually avoid stories with male protagonists, but with all the hype in this I was curious. And I damn don't regret it. The humor is fantastic and the plot is engaging. Despite the pattern, you still get excited- you know the fun part is coming and you are left in the edge of your seat. The male lead completely won me over- unyielding to injustice and willing to risk his all for the right thing- he's someone to root for. Not to mention... more>> completely hilarious! I love his scolding; I love seeing him perform and while I'm not hyped about the romance (atleast the Lechery- I'm a woman, why would I want to read about a boy perving on a girl? Haha) the overall plot and the male lead fighting for fame? To quote famous novels out there, it makes my heart race! Not to mention the translation is perfect. And seeing the links about well known poems I recognize and references is fun. I finished all 254 chapters straight- didn't get any sleep. Take a chance in this- it's truly one of the best translated novels I've read so far. <<less

This novel is simply amazing. IRAS isn't like those generic novels you see in abundance everywhere, but it brings a new look at novel genres. This novel is not an easy one to translate, but Gravity Tales does an amazing job at it. This novel is definitely on my top novel lists, and is one of the best novels I have read so far.
