Its great at the beginning, but eventually it just starts to lose itself and loses those feelings and things that drew me, and many others into it. Alongside badly implemented story/story plots in general later on.

Honestly, reading the reviews is more enjoyable than reading the story. Very reminiscent of rebirth of the legendary guardian in that girls inexplicably like the MC with little to no interaction and the plot is mind numbingly repetitive. At least the humor is somewhat better, even if both stories recycle the same stale jokes almost as much as they recycle antagonists.

If you want a vr novel that is better than this, there are plenty to pick from. I personally recommend 'virtual world peerless white emperor, ' 'the world online, '... more>> or 'rebirth of the thief who roamed the world.' Though I must mention none of these are finished (at least not in English).

White emperor is fantastic because it is hilarious, genuinely causing out loud laughter. Also, although there is competition between guilds, and the game is a huge deal to the world, no one randomly decides to kill their competitors from the game in real life. It's a refreshing break from the absurd revenge circlejerks that are so common where generic as*hole 2nd generation rich kids decide to make their life goal destroying the MC because he had the audacity to not obediently die. But don't think that the story is shallow, as the story progresses more of the background of the characters and the world is revealed and exposes a wonderfully created world rich in depth with serious implications that form a nice counterpoint to the lighthearted way the story is written.

The world online is another excellent novel. One nice point of this story is that it is made excplicitly clear why the vr game is so important and has such an impact on society. The biggest difference with this story is the scope. Instead of being an amazing person taking on the world alone like many novels, the focus is on the MC building his own country. To the extent that later in the story there are entire wars that he entrusts to his generals and barely takes part. Which doesn't mean he isn't busy, it just shows to what height of power and ability he grows his territory.

Rebirth of the thief who roamed the world is closer to this novel, but addresses pretty much every complaint I've seen in the reviews. While the MC is lucky, it's not absurd because most of his good stuff comes from his skill and knowledge. Real world ability does translate into the game, the stats and abilities mostly make sense, the romance has some romance to it even. At least the ML and FL both are real characters and have real interactions.

In summary, this book sucks read other ones. <<less

The novel sure is awesome, might be cliche sometimes but it's ok. So when I was reading the recent chapters I thought that author had missed something. Correct me if I am wrong. First is MC did not the level limitless necklace to her sister and the second is zl forgot to distribute the lvl 120 stone tiger with the guild. Please tell if it is covered. Except that the story is very good. Ah I wish there were real games like this.

This was a good read for at least 400-500 chapters. The story is only so-so as it just repeats itself over and over again and it is very s*upid as none of the characters in the story have no brain

Spoiler

In most of the situations in the game, the guild members just do what they are told, they don't even question it.... an example would be when one of the antagonist guild master fought with the MC and the antagonist did stuff that would make people really pissed off in real life. Another example would be the guild members voluntarily save thwir guild master from dying from a monster which will cause them to lose a level..... the characters have no brains at all as it is just a game where everyone competes even if they are your guild master, you both are still competitors.

was decent at first, but got too self-righteous and hypocritical. Also almost all the dialogue for female characters involves praising the MC.

This is one of the few novels I have dropped. The sense in this novel actually disappeared after a while. I do not know where the author was trying to go with the story but I think he did quite a bad job on combining the real life world with the Virtual reality one that he made. It was quite fun to read at the beginning but after a while you ask yourself, "What exactly has changed since chapter 1?"

It had an exciting beginning, but then I realized it was incredibly repetitive. Large arc centered around gaining a weapon, making enemies, new allies... only to discard weapon when the next better one appears, wow! Also, I don't mind luck skewing towards protagonist, because that's kinda mildly what makes things run along in these types of novels, but I can't really suspend my disbelief when the gaming company agrees to his demands regarding a bug. If it's a bug, then fix. Certain bugs are game breaking and unfair, not meant... more>> to be negotiable.

Then there's the amount of focus on female love interests. I mean, sure, go with it for the female lead, but then all the secondary female leads??? I'll admit I'm not a fan of harems, especially not in a monogamy society, so it's an instant turn-off for me.

I'm not sure where I stopped, probably around when some bizarre attack happens in reality, which made me go ??? <<less

Repetitve AF even though IRL games supposed to be repetitive but this is just too much. At the beginning, this is seem to be nice read but unbalanced game system and how archs after few early archs got recycled again and again make me lost interest in this novel. The good thing about this novel is how good this is at the beginning (i read many of this author novels and all of them have nice starts) so if you are waiting for your favourite novels updated you can give... more>> this author novels a try at the very least they got nice starts, with this you will not pester your favourite novels translators about chapter updates lol. <<less

I didn't play any major MMORPG so I can't rate it high. It was still was interesting for 200 chapters. Then I got tired of it.

If you an MMORPG fan then you may enjoy it, because it's mainly about leveling, guilds, rare items and slightly about some beauties with 34D bust and slender legs (seriously he mentions it every time he mentions them), and did I mention guilds - because Zhang long is a guild name.

I dropped this novel in the middle because it was too repetitive. But as it was one of the first Virtual Reality novel that I've read, I had a good opinion about it, I used to.

After a few months or maybe a year of dropping this novel and reading all sorts of other novels in this site, I remembered this novel and looked for this novel. I was shocked as hell to see the rating and reviews, I thought that 'It can't be that bad right? Or at least I... more>> didn't remember this novel being so bad'.

So I started reading it again till the point where I dropped it in the past and I was like what the actual f*ck, the reviews and the rating made sense and I agree to a whole lot of them.

All in all, not a bad first read, but definitely not gonna be able to finish reading this novel <<less

It was alright.

One of my first VR novels (I read it last year but didn't get around to reviewing it until now). At the time, I liked it so much I MTL'd it up to chapter 850, but I don't really remember too much of what happened in detail any more. The whole thing where the MC is OP irl, which kinda carries into the game was new and kinda clever (at least to me, ok?). But I personally didn't like the romantic subplot, because it was kinda too obvious... more>> at the beginning, and they didn't need to toss in the FL's best friend.

One thing that I don't understand is the fact that so many people play this full dive game, even though they have to pay money per hour. Ingame money can be converted into real life money...
Spoiler

And there are so many who join these huge guilds, which command players in organized squads, with detailed command orders... if it were me, I'd just be a freelance player with no guild - who plays a game just to get ordered around by superiors? The guilds even have wages!

[collapse]

Something to note: everyone in the main gang levels up pretty quickly and cycles through gear just as quickly. You can give up keeping track of gear unless you write it down.

Other than that, the setting and game are not bad, if you don't mind some things like the competition between ranking players. The MC isn't overly OP, and part of the OP-ness comes from the fact that his in-game luck is high (it's an actual stat), which means he gets good gear easily. Characters aren't anything amazing, but they're ok I guess.

Overall, it was just meh. Take a look if you want, you might like it, you might not. If you do, the author wrote a bunch of very similar VR novels, you can check them out. <<less

well I quite like it but, seeing how I'm only at 263 and there still about 1000 chapters going, I'm starting to doubt I will finish this. I have read several wuxia story and Zhan Long with a modern world background rather than wuxia fantasy world has been a new experience for me. It is also my first 1st-person LN that I read and, while it feels weird at start, I have been able to enjoy reading it.

While Zhan Long's background is modern world, it is kinda a plus one.... more>> They have some 'Qi' like concept. There are monsters too (I'm not talking about the ones in <Destiny>). It kinda make the game feels less special/ important imho, as the author barely doing something innovative with his gaming concept here. It also makes it feels like the author is doing too much in one story. Subsequently there would be some weird points in the story which you would have just accepted them as they were.

Of those two subplots, if I have to assess them as 2 different story, tbh they are quite interesting. The game has lots of PKs, boss raid, guild battle and (probably since I haven't been too far) they have been quite exciting. The irl stuff were also intriguing with the battle against the 'monsters' going on.

Now I have read the other reviews, and if it gets too redundant, I'm not too sure I will finish this. Right now I'm still enjoying it though so I think I will keep going for a while. I will update this review if I ended up further enough to add something to this review. Just one final note: I don't think this is interesting for one who doesn't play/ like online gaming because the gaming side is quite heavy here. <<less

So what if it's wish fulfillment tr*sh? It's super entertaining even if the MC's personality doesn't reflect all his tragic experiences.

King's Avatar is one of the best web novels I've read with the gaming theme in terms of story, but it's overburdened with too many details and info dumps. Zhan Long has a mediocre story, but the pacing and writing is a hundred times better. Combine the two, and you'd have the perfect MMORPG novel.

If plot holes bother you, don't read this. But if you can turn your brain off... more>> and think of it like a campy 80's action flick, it's entertaining for at least 200 chapters. Hopefully it doesn't get repetitive later on. <<less

Some interesting character interactions with the NPCs (the fort guard with the giant hook, and the female fort commander) but I didn't see much follow up in a hundred chapters.

The fights just drag on so long and wears on you.

The more I read it the less I liked it.

I ended up dropping it. : (

This novel has seemingly very little development with a very large amount of action. The 'action' however, gets very boring, very quickly. This seems to be a very common problem with VR novels in general. Farming mobs and raiding bosses can only be interesting for so long. One of the more interesting parts of this novel is that the real world also has some action, as our MC is a martial artist in the real world as well. And fairly accomplished too, considering his tender age of 25. The relationships... more>> between the characters slowly evolve and the romance comes about somewhat unexpectedly, though, even then, it is fairly slow. All in all, this novel is mostly mediocre, and a little boring. However, I would still recommend it to others, so long as you make sure to binge read the chapters. Reading this chapter-by-chapter as it releases is not a good idea, in my opinion. <<less

Well, this could be considered an interesting read.

It gets repetitive after a couple hundred chapters. Well, the guild wars were a bit interesting. I guess that this novel could be considered enjoyable to some and boring to some others. So I suggest reading a few chapters before deciding on whether to drop this or not. Initially the MC gets his ass kicked by random dudes but things get better after he starts his guild. I wouldn't suggest this as a main read but something to opt when lacking stuff to... more>> read.

Personally, I just read this for passing some time and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I prefer to save up a few chapters and read them all at once. MC's personality can be considered to be somewhere between okay and good. His main love interest is also quite interesting. His interactions with the various other girls in his guild was interesting at first but it gets repetitive and boring later on, sometimes to the extent that some conversations can be skipped. I don't see any main antagonist so far, but the few enemies of the MC (If they can be considered enemies) are quite lame. Q-Sword was interesting at first but yeah he pretty much sucks now. Guilds like Vanguard are pretty much cannon fodder atm.

All in all, I'll rate it 4. I suggest reading this novel until he creates his guild and starts expanding his guild or until the first city battle before deciding to drop it. <<less

As of now, the novel is pretty much like LMS without the reason for playing the game and the special class.

... That seems to accurately represent the current place I'm at. I'll edit this with more detail later, namely once I've at least gotten to chapter 150 or so.

Though going off of the ratings, the story seems to be one that won't be one of your favorites but it's not one that you'll hate. Of course there will be some people who love this novel more than others, and others... more>> who hate it.

I'd just say read up until about where I'm at as the novel seems like it's about to get more interesting, but at the very least wait until chapter ten or fifteen. <<less

5/5 for VRMMORPG

2/5 Plot

Random inclusion of qi into gaming with no valid explanation and the whole dreariness of the plot makes for a tiring read. 1.5/5 Character development

... more>> MC just gets more OP as the game goes along.

Main female leads go through a slight change as they begin to like MC at the start, but then its just endless filler flirting. The leveling and getting stronger aspects of the novel are interesting. New skills and all are always cool.

but the plot is murky and revolves around the MC developing his guild by the repeated sequence of OP Quest–>OP Drops–>OP PK—>Guild Level Up. Its quite repetitive and every 100 chapters past chapter 250 can be summed up as

MC gets more OP, gets a bigger harem, gets a bigger guild. Then theres the weird, random mutant hybrid criminal arc that’s just heading nowhere.

Its basically following the formula of MC gets asked to help—>Beats everyone up—->20 chapters later--->MC gets asked to help—>Criminal gang wins--->Back to first step

Of course this is after the guild is started up, roughly 250+ chapters in. <<less

After reading the 10 manga chapter that are translated, I wanted more, so this is overall the first light novel I've ever read (or read anything in a long time) so I'm probably going to be a bit biased, but whatever.

This novel is/was fun to just read in the spare time, but eventually is just becomes a bit boring because many of the things that he does in the actually game are so damn long and repetitive. (Especially when he visits dungeons.)

There is romance, but its kinda vague to... more>> a certain extent. One thing that pisses me off is that he only want Wan Er when Dong Cheng Yue is like head over heals for you. And personally I like her personality way more and Think she looks better than wan er in the manga. The story outside of the game is also interesting, but not enough of it. The first person view is also fine, kinda interesting considering most light novels or 3rd person view. The author drags some really boring parts out for a really long time, which I just don't have patients for and have to skip bit by bit. The fact that he only wants Wan Er but nothing really obvious actually develops from their feelings, feels like a chain holding him from other girls. You cant get with any other girl, even tho they want you, but you also dont get with the girl you want, because you both are just ignoring your feelings.. Idk thats just what if feels like.

The characters do have a character, but don't really develop at all.

I probably wouldn't recommend to a friends just because it would be boring reading it for a while, but if you got nothing better to read, sure why not. :) <<less

first disappointment at first the biggest “?” how can weak healer compete in this game, like LMS how scluptor progres. but the author end up making him warrior then he just became strong and start kill this ppl, got this and that secret skill, and became powerfull warrior.....

and 2nd disappointment when they start story about halfass police vs werewolf in real world...
i dont have comment about this one it just sucks.
