I Ran Away after I was Forced into a Love Polygon

Du You transmigrated into a novel and finds himself turned into a bossy CEO character.

He thought he would be able to have the time of his life from then on, but he is informed that this is merely one of the worlds in a QT novel.

And he is a bossy CEO character who has already fallen for the Bottom.

Now, it’s time for the final scene already –

The Bottom is going to detach from the world by faking his death, so he would end up devastated and become a mere shell of his former self.

Du You: What are we even waiting for? it’s showtime!

He imagines he will be able to enjoy a CEO’s vivid and vibrant life once the Bottom leaves the world for good.

Since the sole responsibility of the CEOs in these novels is to ‘sentence arbitrary companies to bankruptcies.’

Yet, apparently, the plotline isn’t over yet.

As a freshly secured love interest, he must follow the Bottom’s path.

Alongside the Tops of other worlds, they will form a Love Polygon.

In the end, the Bottom will discover that all the Tops are actually a split part of the same person, the protagonist Top.

Then all the split parts will join together, and then have a happy ending with the Bottom.

Du You: … F*ck this shit.

Bye bye, he’s going to run away.

This novel, was simply brilliant.

Not just in the execution of the plot, but even in the characters, worldbuilding and the relationships between the characters involved. I wouldn't say it's the best, but it sure is a unique work that takes the spin in trope of having multiple tops/gongs/semes that eventually become on entity. From what I have felt while reading, this novel is like a healing pill to readers who feel wronged when this trope is done terribly, especially if they feel particularly attached to only a certain ml.

I don't... more>> want to go anymore in depth, since other reviews are already doing that. So what can I talk about this novel other than singing praises? Well, for one, although it's tagged as comedy it isn't heavily leaning on the it, so I can tell that the reader wouldn't feel ret*rded when reading it. However, the novel is prone to making you drop it due to its odd pacing. Odd but very smooth pacing.

Certain loopholes exists but for the sake of enjoying the novel since I was personally hesitant and confused when I saw the summary, I blissfully ignored those. They aren't anything major, just the tiniest holes and it doesn't affect the plot much, just really makes you wonder of a different world.

Speaking of that, I am not certain if this a spoiler or not but
Spoiler

when I went to read the reviews, there was this certain post that caught my eye that not only talked about an aftermath/extras where we find out about side CPs that are about the other Tops and their respective partners, including even the original Du You. However it seemed to have disappeared so I don't know if it's true or just a joke the reviewer made. Also weirdly enough, Assistant Xiao who is the partner to the original Du You was usually referred to as male rather than female which is odd because I'm used to viewing this wonderful assistant jiejie, not as a wonderful assistant gege. You'd think I would pay more close attention to the fact that the original Du You is their pet cat who's acquired spiritual enlightenment and becomes human when far from our Du You.....

[collapse]

In any case, the villain is an absolute bit*h and I have no remorse for them. Maybe some pity but that is all they are going to get. The antagonist was terribly done, it was amazing. MC was a pot of why's, no's, please stop and awws turning into what the f*cks. ML was baby and I love em so much, such a good choice of a partner for MC. The best friend was pitiful and the service doggo was just healing with being the most unproblematic character ever.

Also, great show and representation of good parental figures. 4/5

#Edit: Hahaha! Nevermind, nevermind about the Side CPs part. Turns out in my daze I mistakenly pulled out a different review under a different novel and got the two of them mixed up. My bad, my bad althoughitwouldbeniceforittobereal----- <<less

It's fun but I have to say that the MC gets sidetracked very easily. The entire point of him trying to dissuade everyone from loving the main character wasn't because he dislikes harems or even to get back to his own world. The only reason he started rebelling against the system was because he didn't want to get absorbed into the charters as a split personality. The only problem with that is, his abilities are constantly changing. Once you find out his backstory you get really confused. I thought he... more>> was having trouble resisting one of the characters in the beginning but then it turned out he has inhuman strength and one of the personalities is even his brother? How does that even work? The logic was just absent for that chapter. <<less

Maybe I'm a little disappointed because there is no Harem until the end ! Why put the tag of #harem there....

Anyway before that the story line is good enough and I need extra chapters for development romance between MC and the chosen one because you Author-sama stop at the most anticipating story !!!

I beg you author-sama please grant us the extra chapters ~ 🙇‍♂️

BTW until the end we don't know MC is top or bottom... but I bet MC must be the Top right..... he's literally the most strongest than the members of supposedly his "Harem"

Long novels revolving around a major single world like this typically are my cup of tea simply because it gets boring after a while, this one managed to keep my attention for up to 60 chapters and then I skipped ahead to the ending - so maybe my review might be biased.

There’s definitely the idea of a plot and the translation quality is absolutely amazing, made it so much more enjoyable to read.

Here’s my glimpse of what the plot is about:

Spoiler

I didn’t even realised the protagonist/MC was a top until I started reading through the reviews and realised it sort of made sense due to his lack of EQ and I doubt he’s the type to be dominated. Essentially he doesn’t want to get fused with various other ‘love interests’ of the world and decides to destroy the chances of him fusing by ruining the love between the various tops. He ends up getting the love of all four (?) of the original tops for himself who are vying for his attention.

Overall, nice read if you’re interested in a novel with minimal dog-blood and novel that can be read in one day. I also suggest looking over the story tags although the romance aspect is barely there other then some hugging and physical contact. <<less

gorgeous story. 87 chapters all quite well paced if I do say so myself, not really one to comment on the pace of anything though unless its too short, but the arcs or whatnot are well spaced.

having said that, please read. Read carefully though, I remember the last time I read this I didn't understand the ending at all haha, absolutely beautiful though, characters, story, all. You can read the other reviews if youre looking for a legitimate and in depth write from a reader, but I have to say,... more>> give this a chance, definitely.

this story is made for people who like ascetic mcs, the romance really doesn't come til later in the story, and even if you don't favor those types of mcs, you'll enjoy this story. It goes so hard idc just read it

some few sentences to express my distraught and feelings towards the characters, I LOVE shen chen. Good lord. Id treat him so right omm. From his first appearance to his last moments ive loved him. I really teared up when he was rejected by the MC. I want to be his boyfriend I could treat him nice and all that fr. Ryan is cute too, I loved his last scene where he showed an expression he wouldn't usually show, and it was actually insane how much I felt when he called the MC by his name. I wouldn't know who to choose between shen chen and ryan tbh but if they both want me im down

hrmm I guess the MC has his pick between the 4, I don't really like ML like not in the hate or dislike way I just don't like him compared to shen chen or ryan like that. Thinking back on it, I feel like only shen chen got character lore like that, thats why I like him so much. Ryan didn't have much of that but I liked the way he acted and how he was portrayed in the story. Qin ge also was intertwined with MCs lore but I don't like romantic interests who act like that, as for ml, he's just the blandest tbh but he was the only one who took an upright approach to romancing the MC so I do accept him

theres that for my after read overview, make sure to not be swayed by others' reviews and see for yourself if you like it or not <<less

It was beautiful.

Some other reviews said that the main protagonist was a block of wood. And to be honest, he is. Nevertheless, I like his character, but only because it's well written. It's like a machine learning how to feel emotions, and finding a sense of humanity. His personality is like Yu Jitae from 'Kidnapped Dragons', except that he perhaps wasn't normal from the very beginning. Du You was a human at first, but at a very young age, before his emotions matured properly, he was turned into an... more>> experimental subject. I'm not very clear about the details, but I don't think he ever had distinct, strong emotions.

It was a beautiful journey to read.

The love interests didn't end up as a harem. They were just love rivals. And there was a rare element in this novel: the love rivals' feelings were concluded satisfyingly. It's not like their love gets cut off suddenly and they just stop having feelings for the protagonist, but more that they aren't heartbroken for the rest of their lives. They can go on with life and have a happy ending without the protagonist, maybe even getting over their feelings in the future.

Another fellow reviewer, xiu_er, expresses that something feels missing at the end. I think that it's that the love between the
Spoiler

actor and du you

[collapse]
was rather rushed. It feels like Du You doesn't really love love him; it feels simply like mere fond affection. But nevertheless, the ending was satisfying in other aspects.

Another point I love about this story is the 'antagonist'. The antagonist is just your typical selfish human, slightly tr*shier than the standard of 'good' people. He's in debt, his life is a mess, and he's just a normal person in real life. Then a traffic incident occurs and then he has thousands of lovers and everyone falls for him. After tasting that kind of honey, he really won't want to let go of it. That founds his villain story. It's like a teenager with eighth-grader syndrome who can't quite let go of the beautiful scenery of virtual reality, where he can be anyone he wants to be.

Anyway, it was great. :) <<less

Huh... The irony is strong in this series. You want to go against the og!protagonist because of his superior fishing game while also accidently building your own fish tank.... (?) I see. I originally didn't compare this series to anyother work but as his harem was growing, I remembereded the great novel "There Will Always Be Protagonists With Delusions of Starting a Harem" and got extremely disappointed. A) because I already have a prime example of a harem-destruction novel that DOESN'T become what it hates; B) I could see this... more>> series being one of the mission worlds that the other novel would try to fix. I came here for funny and clever harem destruction, not harem building! <<less

It was all good until I realized it was heading to yet another love polygon (?). We're hating on the OG!protag shou, want other dudes to get their lives on track and get rid of the "original plots'" influence... Only to see them circle around oblivious MC like flies?

I mean, what's the difference? I know MC doesn't do that intentionally but ffs author-nim, I came here to bear witness to collapse of sum shady love hexagon, why you must build a new one?

Like, if I was so eager to see... more>> love interests fight each other for the sake of MC like they have nothing else to do, I wouldn't mind read the story of OG!protag shou lmao.

What pains me the most tho, our MC here came to destroy prototypes, only to become one of them himself. Well, if I were to say a difference, that's the fact that love interests wouldn't be merging into one.

Or so I think. <<less

There's a human-turned-Zombie king, a modified human, a werebeast, two normal humans and a melodramatic brain dead shou.

Spoiler

Everyone here except the old bachelor from the prominent family is

a transmigrator.. They were meant to fall for the shou.. Instead they fell for Du You, the supreme zombie..

[collapse]

* Du You was slow to understand human emotions.. The story shows how he progressed little by little..
    • I wish there were a bit more about his own world, specially after he turned into a Supreme zombie..
* Old bachelor Shen Chen is a normal guy.. He hemmed and hawed around Du You.. And due to his pride he missed his chance to confess.. Else I'm pretty sure that Du You would've accepted him since he considered Shen Chen a true bossy CEO and also a strong willed human being for breaking from the Shou's clutch..
    • Actually I find Shen Chen's situation quite funny.. This is what happens when you dilly dally like that..
* Qin Ge is also from Du You's world.. He is obsessed with him and wants to take Du You back to their original world..
    • Here I also wish there was more about Qin Ge after Du You saved him from the base and went missing..
* Ryan, the werebeast was hell-bent on having s*x with Du You.. But when Du You agreed to let him sleep in his room, he suddenly became very sensible.. Just how ???
    • Ryan blabbered about how he wanted to make Du You happy, that he can't sleep with him if Du You is sad.. Really ??? Du You had been rejecting him since the beginning.. But he was never discouraged.. And suddenly one day he was enlightened ??? Sorry but I can't accept this kind of character development..
* You Haoyu is the most normal character here.. Du You got together with him in the end.. And I guess the reasons might be, like -

    • Shen Chen was always haughty which made Du You misunderstand.. He basically hacked his own bridge with his own mouth.. Lol
    • Qin Ge's obsession was a burden to Du You..
    • Ryan was mostly interested in f*cking and having children.. Besides Du You kind of saw him more like a dog than a human..
    • Du You was interested in human cultures.. And You Haoyu was the only one who approached him like an ordinary guy in love..
But

this is the speculation

I made since I wanted to ship You Haoyu with him.. There weren't much interaction between them and why Du You chose him isn't clear either.. It actually made his understanding of 'like' pretty shallow..

* And about the Shou.. The less you think, the better.. Specially his last appearance.. It was so s*upid.. Even a ten years old child is more mature than him..

Anyway,

    • The translation is good..
    • Du You's back story is interesting, though I wish there were more..
    • There's no side stories which disappointed me.. I wanted to read about a bit about others after they went back to their own worlds..
    • The romance is half-assed..
Overall I pretty much enjoyed it..

The story starts off interesting but it tapers off once you realize the author doesn't plan on working with all the MLs and there's just one CP that gets most of the attention that forces you to think a lot of what happened to be meaningless.

Aahahaha when they said he had no EQ they meant it!! MC is shaking up ppl's worlds and he doesn't know or care. Ah damn, Du You is so damn lovable that all the gongs start falling for him. And the way they fall for him is very natural and distinct too - you've got a little bit of every romance in there. This is a fun twist on of a BL plot trend of multiple gongs being essentially the same person, or fused into the same person (my favorite author, Long Qi does this trope for a few of her stories too). The MC, Du You, was pretty funny about how lackadaisical he was about in doing his system tasks. He was not enthusiastic about being yet another gong to be added to the 'chosen' shou's harem.... And when he realizes the supposed 'gongs' were going to become fused... lol. So he... more>> sets off to prevent each of the gongs from getting involved with the shou.

Spoiler

But in the process, the other gongs start falling for Du You, lol! But Du You is emotionally indifferent to all of them. But don't worry, it's a 1v1, in the end, the only way to prevent the fusing is for all the gongs to agree to return to their original worlds. Du You ends up being accidentally sent to the world of the person he may have the most feelings for.

He doesn't really do much 'running away' as what was described in the summary. --Unless the author meant emotional running away.

[collapse]

There are tiny parts of this story that vaguely remind me of 'Transmigrated Into a Big Boss to Snatch Away the Cannon Fodder', but the MC's personality is completely different and the way he goes about things is different as well. <<less

The best way to describe this is that the MC is literally a glacier. He has very small grasp of emotions and empathy, but he is trying his best. All the romances plots are very stagnant as a result but hilarious nonetheless. To him, the modern world is more of a childhood dream come true and is living his best life, with the small prices of adhering himself to the plot.

Seriously thought all the MLs were going to be sent back to their original worlds but they all still want... more>> reverse-harem status. Anyways I’m going to leave off here because that is a major plot reveal.

Pairing Type: transmigrator MC X harem; emotionless, low EQ MC; tsundere ML, yandere ML, “puppy” ML

Heat level: very low (0/5 spicy; literally only hand holding lol)

Re-readability: 1/5 won’t reread

Trope: harem; transmigration; beasts

Triggers: death; violence

Nothing inherently offensive it was just very boring.

Some thoughts:
Spoiler

Maybe I missed something but how Qin Ge transmigrated is confusing. Like, he was in the apocalypse world with MC... and then he’s somehow in an apocalypse book with the exact same character background and then he transmigrates to the current setting? How’d he get into the book? Does this imply that MCs original world isn’t real? Huh?

Also his hacker background.. where tf did that go? He was introduced as a hacker and after using it once he never used it again?

[collapse]

Also, MC comes off very ace/aro, even when he “chooses” a ML. I get no sense that he actually likes any of them, which is fine but it seems like the author wasn’t sure if they should commit to that or have him develop feelings. So instead we end up with this lukewarm ending where there isn’t a lot of emotion built up for the final pairing

On a positive note, the MLs are all mostly likeable. I especially liked that there were two tsundere variations. I’m not usually in to tsunderes but I quite liked them, especially when compared to each other. One is the shy type that’s only sweet on ML and rude to everyone else, the other is the easily embarrassed type that’s rude to cover up his feelings for ML.

Overall feelings... meh. <<less
