In the past, there was a small cannon fodder who wholeheartedly dedicated herself to the medicinal path.

Only after dying once did she learned that even if she was brilliant, she could only be an insignificant side character used to emphasize the female lead’s limelight. Any relationship with the male lead and other supporting male characters would bring her bad luck.

When going out to collect some medicinal herbs in Qingfeng Valley, she kindly rescued a male side character. The man woke up and saw the female lead and became eternally grateful to her instead. He thought that the monster that hurt him was brought by the small cannon fodder so she was punished.

The cycle repeated and eventually everyone she saved blindly loved the righteous female lead. Ultimately she was killed by one of the men who was entangled with the female lead.

……

So after her rebirth, she began to firmly adhere to the principle of ‘pay me first, then I’ll cure you’.

Male cannon fodders who love the female lead, charge them triple fee!

Male side characters who ambiguously entangled with the female lead, charge them 10 times!

Male lead, the most important one, charged him 100 times!

She single heartedly insisted on using money to distance herself from those men and drew a clear boundary between them. But her ability was too high, that the male lead and side characters from all over the world always came to her for help…

She finally became the richest person in cultivation world!

I MTL-ed this. Translation is rough but gist of storyline is comprehendible and my mind just automatically tried to make syntax/grammar fit.

In the first life, our cannon fodder's (MQ) path was crossed with multiple men. They don't know it was her who saved them so they mistakenly fall for Mary Sue FL (LX) and actually harmed MQ directly/indirectly. In the rebirth, to even out karma and stay away from LX's godly halo retribution, MQ charges nominal fees to these men when she saved them. It is quite hilarious in their... more>> actions and attempt to be close to MQ as they will remember what MQ did in the past life after they have been saved and vowed to protect her in this life instead of falling for false FL. So MQ is the Mary Sue in this life but she just doesn't know it/doesn't care. Not all men fell in love with MQ as some just respect her.

Story building is well developed. There are some redundancy in description/explanation that the author could cut out. I love Su Junmo the best as his thought process regarding his master and MQ is hilarious. He tried so hard not to be third-wheeling when they are together and prevent others from third-wheeling too. HAHAHA

Spoiler about MQ/master love relationship: Don't click if you want to be surprised later~

Spoiler

ML fell in love with her first and tried to rope her into a relationship/Taoist companion. Basically I laughed bc he basically flashed his monetary "CEO" status, bought something mega expensive (a medical script) at the heavenly auction and instilled his divine sense. He told her he needed her to solve this script but bc his divine sense is on it, only he/his Taoist companion/family can pick it up at the relay station but he cannot pick it up as he is in the Demon World. So she agreed to be his Taoist companion to help him. HAHAHA >_<

What I don't like about ML is he can be a jerk to other men

[collapse]

MQ's family background is also introduced in this life as she doesn't know anything in the past life. She doesn't have her full memory as there are several blurred moments which seemed to be important.

Mary Sue - LX
Spoiler

She cannot be harmed per greater forces behind the scene. LX's blind righteousness gets MQ into trouble and finally, WQ tried to kill her but faced whiplashes. There seems to be a greater celestial force controlling the scene but another force who is helping MQ?

[collapse]

I hope this novel doesn't get redundant and spans into over 1000 chapters.
Spoiler

Currently we don't know why MQ got a rebirth. The ultimate guy who LX was with in the last life hasn't appeared yet but I suspect him to be the lord of the Devil world...

The earlier part really piqued my interest but then I began to question the MC. I think the MC would not entangled herself with the male leads and find her own male lead but she got stuck with the previous male leads instead.

The other thing is I feel like the author has some pattern that is (1) showing a new mysterious character - (2) slowly revealing the true identity - (3) new mysterious character appears and it happened repeatedly throughout the story it made me tired. Just where are you... more>> going to bring us?! I feel like the author focused more on the characters than the plot

But it still a pretty nice story to read tho, maybe I'll come back when I had nothing to read <<less

Well, what can I say? Our protagonist, Meng Qi, is a wonderful, well-educated and smart medical cultivator. She dedicated her life to healing others for the pleasure of practicing medicine. Unfortunately, some people's irrationality led to her first death.
With a small advantage of knowing the way to cultivate the next levels and some other tricks, Meng Qi does not change much of his original self, except that he would no longer create a relationship with others on the basis of grace and kindness. Those who were destined to be... more>> suitors of the beloved child, would be coldly charged for any medical care, and without need she does not put them in the eyes. Totally partial, she does not charge women, unless she is someone who deserves it. Meng Qi is a very good protagonist, she doesn’t get out of her way, but neither is she silly to indulge
who mistreated or hurt her. <<less

I like cultivation novels with pill refinement. It's also nice the MC is a female protagonist. I like how she was just a canon fodder in her old life minding her own business, but because of the FL's halo she was wrongfully accused and all that. In her life now, it seems that she just wants to continue on with her life curing people as she is somewhat a healing fanatic, but she's trying not to get karma and "steal" the FL's luck and whatnot.

While I like the genre and... more>> the MC being a female protagonist, there are a few things I dislike about the novel. One is how the MC is just too indifferent. She doesn't really care about how unfairly people treat her, and it's annoying when she doesn't really speak up or give them a face slap for it. So, one is the lack of wit. The next part I dislike about the novel are the MLs. They just randomly get their memories back and don't give a crap about the former FL. They never bother talking to the MC about this early on... and just act clingy to her, which of course she wouldn't understand. It's just a plot for misunderstandings lol. Also, the former FL's arguments are just... lol <<less

Since reading the book and reading comments it's clear some people do not not read properly how are these men falling inlove with MC without reason? In the case of MLs Chu and Qin they respect admire and trust the MC very much she's they life saver she legit saved them from a lunatics torture while the Ori FL were only crying in the lunatics arms not doing anything to save them while she's the reason while they were in captivity and being tortured in the process MC died shortly... more>> afterwards. So MC died because of them. In this life all they want is to be by her side and protect her. They are also anticipating the arrival of the villain this time around they want to protect her.

As for Master Pei he's not inlove with her, in this and previous life they are confidants. As for Li Che the guy clearly are appreciates MCs medical skills like MC he's also obsessed with medicine. The Xue young master likes the MC romantically he also has reasons for it. The Ji guy only wants to be her master as for Su junmo he's a friend.

As for the master that people are saying how such a powerful person was willing to be by her side since she is cannon fodder. It's clearly explained in the book Im not sure where but in the first 20 chapters she mentioned she met an expert refiner who taught her how to imbude spells in pills and many other things. They are both nerds experimenting and working together. They also lived together for 3 years in seclusion. Be very clear he was never her master she wanted him to be but he wasn't. That's because the man is clearly inlove with her but our MC isn't enlightened when it comes to love so she never noticed it. I feel like the harem tagged should be removed this is clearly not it. <<less

Now that I've read another 50 chapters, I think I can make a much more accurate review.

This story can essentially be summarized based on arc.

Spoiler

The first arc is where everything is established. MC is still building up her wealth and skills, so everyone tends to look down on or misunderstand her. The OFL is still very present in the story, so there's a lot of face slapping. The characters introduced, like the ex-OMLs, are very funny and charming. This arc is I think the most fun, I spent the entire time laughing and unable to put my phone down

The second arc is when MC leaves her small sect. The story gets a bit more serious, there's still plenty of comic relief at the start but when the meat of this arc kicks off it becomes mostly the MC's character growth arc. She spends most of the arc trapped in a series of trials where she has to push herself beyond her limits. This is also when the ML finally meets the MC properly.

The third arc, where I am right now, feels like where the worldbuilding falls apart. Just like how the MC gets so used to dealing with big amounts of money that she forgets how much things cost, the author seems to get so into developing the big plot points and main couple that they forget all the worldbuilding they made in the earlier arcs. There's also no longer any real comic relief, so it just feels like a slog to go through. People who only want to see the romance probably won't mind it though.

[collapse]

It's not perfect as a cultivation novel. The timeline and some of the world details are a bit hard to understand, and the author sometimes forgets their own worldbuilding. However if you can get over that, the writing makes up for it. I still do recommend people read this, even if just the first two arcs, because it is really good.

MC is like everyone's favorite healer side character. You know the type- stoic, always calm, gentle but firm bedside manner, pure hearted and wants to heal everyone, but also secretly has a cute side. (Makes me think of Natasha from HSR specifically.) She starts out as someone who is very smart and a fast learner, but she has limited resources and ability, so instead of learning OP skills she instead uses basic skills but trains them to unreal levels. As the story progresses and she gains money and resources, she is able to apply her intelligence and become recognized as a genius.

The "harem" (aka the ex-OMLs) mostly aren't actually very romantic, more like one big friend group with some awkward clingy boys. The only actual romantic rivals show up late to the story, are just minor characters that are shown to have chemistry with MC, but have clearly no chance of ever actually getting with her. (Honestly, the first two ex-OMLs, and the only two female group members, seem to have more romantic chemistry with each other than with MC.) It's still very entertaining to see them interact with MC and each other, though on the flip side when the author leaves the friend group aside and focuses more on the plot or main couple it can get boring.

ML is... sorta meh? He's not bad, he has personality and it can be a lil funny seeing his point of view of things, but he barely shows up, even when he's finally physically present.

I don't know if I'll continue. If I do, I'll edit my review again when I'm further in. <<less

It was a interesting until the end of the 2nd arc. It was still fun when the MC extorted money from others, however that happened less and less. Eventually she just became one of those basic Mary Sue character in light novels that can do no wrong *rolls eyes* Anyways its a huge disappointment

The biggest problem this novel has is the MC. After all she went through she is still incredibly naive and does not stand up to herself all. The story becomes increasingly frustrating with every new arc, oh you attack me or sh*t talk me or frame me or whatever I wont do anything. Il just wait for the guys who I did not want to get involved with to save me and clear my name and make it all better.

I suppose my feelings towards this novel are that I love the FL, but generally hate the ML's. The FL has a real personality and backstory, and her motivations are very well fleshed out. She makes the dumpster truck that IMO the rest of the novel becomes actually bearable, although I imagine some might disagree. I don't fault the novel for being the pill-popping insanity all Chinese cultivation novels are, with the FL downing dozens of pills a day, making thousands off selling pills on the black market (i.e. Whatever... more>> this back alley Black Heaven place is), throwing all her money away the next day buying grass to make new pills, and generally showing all young readers that drugs are A-OK because they make all the bad stuff go away or they'll make you cool and strong (until the drugs/pills wear off, in which case go buy some more!). IMO, all Chinese cultivation novels give off this vibe of insanity, so I don't fault this novel for feeling the same. The ML's were a bit creepy as they're originally introduced, always stalking the FL, manhandling her physically, begging her desperately to order them around or treat them like s*aves, or forcefully signing soul oaths that they'll be her manservant for the rest of his life without her consent (and, in the case of the first ML, despite her explicit disapproval). The thing that drove me over the edge was ~c26, with it was revealed that

Spoiler

all the ML's actually have memories of their old life, just like the FL. In other words, they're chasing after the FL not because of actual feelings of love or respect, but because their guilty conscience is chaining them to throwing themselves at her feet in apology. It ruins the whole point of the novel, that the FL is actively changing the world, because now half a dozen hot guys are stalking her (some via 24/7 live feeds of her every movement) and doing a significant part of the heavy lifting for her. Why all of them act so arrogant towards her, or why all of them turned out to be masochist stalkers is beyond me. I also really question many of their morality - despite all of them knowing the tragedy of the demon invasion, all of them decide not to do anything to stop it or even withdraw from the frontline faking injury because they want to spend a little more time with the FL. A man abandoning his duties and willfully letting thousands of people die just so he can flirt with a girl who doesn't even like him isn't cool - he's crazy.

[collapse]

I'm dropping the novel after c99, mostly because of the further BS in c96 where

Spoiler

the author felt the "main ML" didn't get enough screen time (TBH, he's been stalking her 24/7 and controlling all the people around her so she doesn't run into other men or any "bad bugs", so he wasn't my top pick anyway IMO), so the author wrote a cataclysmic event where the world ripped itself open right where the FL was standing and dumped her in a place only the main ML could reach. The novel has a ton of plot armor anyway, but this really takes the cake.

I read chapters 1-96.1, then MTL to chapter 174. Meng Qi is a super-nerdy girl who cultivates through medicine. In her previous life, she saved the original FL's men, but was punished for her actions. Now reborn, she still wants to save people, but to avoid karmic retribution for interfering with them, she charges them heavily for her medical services. Initially, this works out fine. But after a short while, some of the men realize that they were ... more>>
Spoiler

also reborn, and they regain their memories of how they fought and died over the ungrateful original FL, and how kind Meng Qi was in saving their lives in the first place, and even died to save them.

Now that they've learned their lesson, they start to follow/protect Meng Qi as a kind of life-saving grace repayment, while also slowly falling for her personality. Ironically, Meng Qi isn't into strong, handsome men. She likes cute, furry animals, like the demonic (shapeshifting) cultivator she has unknowingly picked up.
[collapse]
I usually don't like cultivation novels, but this one reminds me of Ascending, Do Not Disturb. I also liked her good female friends, which seem rare in c-novels.

I really enjoyed the world building, like the Beyond the Heavens and Apricot Forest worlds within a world. Cultivation stories would be easier to read if numbers were added to the cultivation levels, like: Qi Condensation (1), Foundation Establishment (2), Golden Core (3), Nascent Soul (4), Spirit Severing (5), Void Comprehending (6), Comprehending Perfection (7), Crossing Tribulation (8), and Great Ascension (9).

The story is mainly about Meng Qi's adventures learning medicine and arrays, saving people with medical cultivation, fighting in a team with her good friends, and less about romance. The original FL is annoying, but rarely shows up after the first arc. The translation is excellent, and the translated cultivation terms are easy to understand. <<less

Starts out pretty good but the execution gets worse over time.

MC is ok, but she quickly becomes the halo'd chosen one with no self awareness of this despite realizing that the OGFL was one on her rebirth. Frankly everything becomes more and more contrived. The misunderstanding comedy stick always gets old real quick imo.

Spoiler

Honestly not sure what the writer was going for with the OGFL. White lotus that gets her dues by being held hostage by some borderline psycho? but said psycho's motivations are questionable. He clearly wasn't in love with her like all the other males, and he was better at medicine than her (or at least understood poisons). So he didn't want her to heal him, was constantly annoyed by her, and didn't fit into his plans against the medical clans.... why was he dragging her around? So he could be saddled with her debts? Part of me is glad that the OGFL is dragged offscreen, but at the same time one wonders what the point was? If the author wanted to make a harem of past life patients there didn't need to be an OGFL.

Speaking of this Ji clan guy... how the hell is so easy for him to forceably remove the vines from people when they have been the scourge of the demon realm for 1000's of years that no one has been able to solve? At least the MC supposedly had to work at a cure for over a month in her past life? If brute force or array knowledge is all it took to cure this than why didn't any of the noble demon clans figure this out? And it's not really clear what his ultimate goal was with the medical clans. I mean sure he slapped them in the face and lowered their reputation, but was it really worth making all of them enemies? He didn't seem to want to make a rival medicine sect as the other characters theorized (not a medical cultivator in the first place). He didn't seem to want to seek a cure for his injuries as he kept quiet about it until the end (an after thought). Honestly it would have made more sense if he plotted against the refinery sects or showed off the power of arrays by joining some battle tournament.

Oh, the power of friendship! She friends with all her stalkers now! People she hardly knows or were borderline enemies in her past life! I gotta save them because it's her ninja-err I mean path of the Dao! Especially makes sense that she'd ditch the master she has been searching for all this time to save them. Joking aside it makes no sense why she couldn't just pass them a message and some medicine through that teleportation device when her master literally passes her something right after she jumps through it herself. The whole reason these supposed friends are even in this predicament is a lame comedy of errors/misunderstanding in the first place. I really think the writer was just looking for an excuse to drag out the romance subplot.

Leaving a review for bookmarking my chapter. I will stop reading for a while due to busy real life sched.

Anyway, I love our MC here, she's a really kind person, a principled healer.

... more>> There's actually a plot twist that I didn't expect lol. It's about those 2 guys he saved. There's also that Pei guy, I think it's fishy, he might also be the same situation as the two guys mentioned above. I won't reveal the twist tho.

Anyway, she's a really great MC. And it's enjoyable to read coz it's not boring... (Well I am bored rn in the starfallen sea tho hahaha). But most of the chapters are entertaining to read.

Highly Recommended.

Pretty good plot. Got a bit frustrated with the MC and her lack of communication skills and denseness. But good overall.

Great translation too. Recommended for those who like slow burn romance, fast-paced action/drama and awkward/funny moments with all the FL's peach blossoms (even the rotten ones). This is the typical "everyone loves the FL but the FL only loves cultivation" trope.

Personally, I hate it when MC get into existing story and the whole original harem member start to become her love interest instead. It simply feel too generic. Like, all those MLs didn't have a life except orbiting around previous protagonist and MC.

The whole "pay me money" also feel stale after several chapters. Rather than a motto she used stay alive, it feels more like a tagline from sitcom that need to be repeated every other episode.

That being said, this is totally a nice light hearted redo novel.

Sooo

I love the MC. She's sooo calm and indifferent, only when she does something related to medical cultivation does she show her excitement. I love how she isn't moved by the outer appearance and also her determination to walk her path with conscience. She isn't so s*upid and not self-righteous. And very rarely she shows her temper. She truly is what a healer should be. I also love how obsessed she is with having the ML acknowledge her as a disciple. Though the ML refuses repeatedly since he wants the... more>> MC to be his taoist companion. But the MC doesn't know. She seems to be very slow in live matters, she can't read any signs about romance and instead interprets it in a different meaning far away from love. The MC still hasn't realized that she loves the ML in a romantic way (which I think is because their cultivation level is too far apart; this makes MC think that ML should be looked up to and be respected as person higher than herself). However, she does love the ML and she would die for him. Yeah, that's how deep her feelings are. When Lin Yan (is that her name?), asked her to choose between her friends or the ML. She was so conflicted but in her heart, she would do anything to save the ML, even at the cost of going against heaven. I also love the ML, he does everything he could for her to make her journey smoother, but doesn't interfere with her decisions. He would just silently protect her when she encounters danger she couldn't solve herself even when he is seriously injured. I love how he earned spirit points for her by repeatedly moving her book (it's jade slip in the MTL) back and forth in the library. It was funny but also very sweet. He's very rich and had no concept about how to spend it wisely, which the MC inherited. Both are very rich ahahahaha.

One of my doubts is why Lin Yan's jade slips goes inside her spiritual sea? What is her relation with Lin Yan? Will the destiny of Lin Yan and her lover be a foreshadowing to what happens to the MC and ML? Will she also have to choose? What did Lin Yan say to her when she was trying to resurrect her lover? What about the MC's mother? Is the MC mixed blood? What is the condition on how to regain memories? Is it to be treated by MC or be in severe pain, you wish you dead kind of pain? Why is the MC reborn? Is it related to the ML or the heavens? Is the MC is the key to solve a future catastrophe? Aaaaannddd lastly, what about the female devil cultivator that is left in the mansion at the center of the fallen star sea (MTL) ? Since her niedan is broken, does she need to eat? Is she already dead from starvation?! I'm curious ahahahahaha. I feel sorry for her being a forgotten supporting character.

Special mention to the Third Sister Xue. From her pitiful life experiences and her decision to break away from her family to live unrestrainedly and walk again from the beginning in a path she truly thinks is right. I like her very much.

Now, about the original FL, I hate her personality. Instead of doing her job as a healer, she only cries. She's very stubborn on her one-sided beliefs and also acts very self-righteous, which cost almost the lives of her fellow disciples. She's also very self-centered and believes that the capable men around her should surround her, not the MC. She's jealous of the MC because of the attention that she receives and doesn't do self-reflection. I just can't like her. However, she hasn't killed any innocents and she just does things without knowing the consequences. It's right for the MC to just ignore her and be far away from her. The MC won't pay her any attention and she also won't deal with her. Sigh, I really like the MC. If it were me and I was reborn, I would get rid of the people that could threaten my life. I mean I won't kill, but I won't stay indifferent like the MC.

Anyways, yeah. Still not completed. But it's good try it. <<less

I normally don't care for compassionate fmls but Meng Qi has a special place in my part. She's the real straight forward type of medical cultivator who would heal others because the Dao in her heart can't bear to see anyone die in front of her. In her previous life, she had ended up saving many important and strong people but because she never stayed to receive recognition, all of her patients' good wills were taken by the "heroine of the world" which Meng Qi believes is because of the... more>> fml's golden halo.

I also love how Meng Qi is not your typical op fML in a cultivation novel. In this world, pure cultivation and medical cultivation are different things. Every daoist cultivates their spirit alongside their chosen path, therefore, one can be at a higher level of their chosen path compared to their spirit cultivation, and vice versa. Meng Qi is the type with average spirit cultivating talent, but talent (and moreso passion) for the medical field. Her outward cultivation hardly exhibits any improvement and limits her healing/survival capacity which makes her a more balanced character in my eyes. Additionally, part of the reason why Meng Qi tries to heal everyone is because 1) the practice improves her cultivation and 2) she genuinely loves and is fascinated with learning and solving different ailments. The author does a great job of making this a consistent character trait of hers and not just a plot-moving point like many other cultivation novels with fML doctors.

The romance in this is just right. Like I said earlier, the fml's greatest passion in life is medicine and even ML can't shake its position in her heart. I don't want to give any spoilers, but there was a part of the story where the ML sort of appealed to Meng Qi with loving actions but Meng Qi resolutely denied those actions as "romantic". Granted the novel has only been translated to the end of arc 2 up to where I read so I can't say if that'll change in the future but I love a good slow-burn romance (especially one where the love interest falls in love first). I hate how the romance in cultivation novels happens almost instantly and for no reason other than "she's different from other women" or "he's handsome and strong". Although this novel isn't completely separate from this trope, it at least plays out in a way that's more satisfying for the readers. <<less

I really love this novel! At first, I wasn't sure if I'd like it bc for someone who keeps saying she doesn't want to get involved with the original FL and her harem, she got involved with the original FL and her harem a lot. However, the MC's enjoyable personality, the quirky (tho maybe not especially unique) plot, and the fun side characters makes up for it.

I also liked that there are at least two female side characters who are genuine friends with the MC and are not her romantic... more>> rivals. The ML is very amusing, though he hasn't had much screen time, and neither he nor the side male love interests are overbearing or annoying. Overall, I feel that the plot is well paced and the translation is excellent.

If you've read the legendary master's wife, this is the BG version, lol. <<less

Truthfully, the summary is a bit misleading. Her reason for collecting money from the original female lead's suitors isn't due to spite or something.

Spoiler

She thought by collecting money she is severing karmic ties with the suitors and she will not be punished by the heaven for taking the heaven's favored girl's luck with those men.

Still this is a very good read. The MC is not OP at all, although she did carry her previous life's knowledge, her cultivation level is low and she only has mediocre talent in cultivation. She is a genius in medicine but with low cultivation, her medical cultivation is hindered.

MC also seems to have a good personality. She can't let anyone in front of her die, if she can save then she will even if she doesn't know how, she finds a way. This holds true throughout the story even when people doubted her and accused her she was still willing to save those people. Although she's like that, that doesn't mean she is willing to let other people step on her. She seems to be bad at confrontation but will definitely not let herself be bullied.

My problem with the MC's character is that she seems dense to the OFL's suitors favor towards her. I'm not too sure if she's dense, or she firmly believes that these people are just eccentric, or that she actually just doesn't put those guys into her mind at all. That's why she never noticed anything.

A lot of the previous review stated that the original female lead's suitors fawn over her for no reason but I disagree.

Spoiler

The suitors who fawn over the MC are the ones who remembers their past life. Based on Chu Tianfeng and Qin Xiumo's conversation, in the previous life, the MC saved them as a last effort while the OFL stood at the side with her face buried in another guy's chest. The reason why they like MC is because this girl was willing to save their lives even though they indirectly caused her harm.

The OFL is the type that would try to protect people from harm despite her being weak herself but in the critical moment, she does nothing but act spoiled and cry. MC, on the other hand, was willing to do everything to save people's lives. So even though OFL was brave, she actually does nothing. She will not spare any effort at all to help them while MC painstakingly does everything and even go beyond her power to save people.

Aside from that, the OFL jumps from one suitor to the more powerful one which made them realize how annoying she actually is.

[collapse]

In regards to the suitors attitude towards the OFL, I think it's more like love turn to hate. Like when your bf/gf does something, you find it cute no matter what but after breaking up you now find it irritating. I think that's how the suitors feel about the OFL. This made their hate towards the OFL seem believable to me. Most people experience this towards their exes.

Overall, I recommend that people give this a try. It's definitely worth reading. <<less
