This is an understated protagonist that wants to find the "Third option". If you liked Maouyuu, Gourmet of Another World, or are looking for a Chinese Novel that doesn't focus on shithead protagonists or the incessant "Leveling up" of what's common right now, this would be for you.

Think of this as I am a Superstar if the protagonist wasn't a human piece of garbage, if the protagonist wanted to change the world and the lives of those around him for the better, while never losing sight of the fact that... more>> everyone in the world can screw you over (unlike how Japanese novels handle it).

Think of this like True Star, but with the Protag not claiming credit for the masterpieces outside of what is somewhat understandable and reasonable. Of a Protagonist in a "Plagiarism genre" story actually saying "I'm not the writer of [This work]. It was something I've imported from a faraway land" when talking to buyers and investors. Of a protagonist actually having the brain to adapt and modify works like a real translator/localizer so that they can be sold better in the target audience.

Until it is actually fully translated, I can't say much more (Spoilers!). But it's basically sort of like Outbreak Company but without the bullsh*t and in an Isekai style.

Edit: At ch 770 now - holy shit. Fluff/worldbuilding I thought I could ignore is actually foreshadowing for later arcs, serious arcs. There are so many callbacks and payoffs for people who realize what's going on. And once again the author and MC respects credit and precedent, those that come before... and it actually makes sense in context once you get there in the story, as this leads to other developments, to a bigger picture. He's actually starting to play a bit loose with the concept of Credit and Copyright right now... and we can see the problems as well as benefits from both sides of the story. (In a sense. None of this is explicitly stated to be "Bad" or "Good", but as readers we can see causality, no?)

One clear thing is that this story is a bit naive and idealistic. But it's filled with hope and love in ways other chinese webnovels fail to deliver.

At this point, I'd make the argument that the MC is not the MC. He's merely a side character, a guide, sort of like Count D in Petshop of Horrors, or the Chef in Isekai Shokudou (restaurant of another world), or the Nobu Store from Isekai Izakaya Nobu. The MC and the adaptation of familiar media of Earth becomes the platform to explore new cultures/realities and other interesting characters' lives as we see this cultural exchange and almost parody of what we live in. Some things are played for laughs in order to hide the darker undertones, but for such an idealistic story to even address or acknowledge things like media addiction or the realities of making it big like a star (and how a star can stay big), as well as problems associated with fame makes me very happy.

It also has one of the more realistic slow-burning romances (not torrid Shojou/josei tramptacular romances XD) in chinese webnovels, and we see a relationship built on respect and mutual interests and close proximity. <<less

Some of the reviews here are kind of baffling. They insinuate that the novel is unrealistic and that the author makes stuff up as he goes instead of doing his research.

I call hogwash. Everything is explained clearly before being put into action.

The thing is, this is a soft fantasy novel. This isn't some LitRPG with levels and magic stats. From the MC's point of view, all magic needs to do is emulate modern technology, so why would we need a more detailed explanation than, "It's a rare metal that can... more>> be moulded into any shape and is a good conductor of magic"?

This novel is about a guy recreating entertainment products from earth in a fantasy world, to spread demon propaganda into the realm of humans. No one gives a sh*t about the specifics of how he made a camera with magic rocks.

---

And that one commenter who was angry about the author not calling a male succubus an incubus? Dude's either high on tr*sh isekai or just entered puberty. There was no lack of explanation on the author's part, it was your own fault for skipping it.

It was clearly established that the race of succubi is all female, and that the birth of a male is rare and considered a defect. They can't use the powers of a succubi, so they are useless and thus, not the same as incubi.

Unless you have a fetish for male succubi, I can't imagine dropping a novel for something like that. I can count the number of times I've heard the word "Incubus" with my nipples, so I wouldn't fault the author or translator for not knowing it either.

---

It's a really fun novel, and pretty unpredictable with the crazy stuff the MC comes up with. The momentum is also great, and it starts right off at fifth gear and doesn't slow down.

Read the first chapter; you'll know if it's your thing pretty quick. <<less

  • Similar to the Black Technology internet cafe book but WAY better in every aspect! Webnovel has about 100ch translated.
  • IDK why, but the MTL of this book was almost as good as some of the actual ones you run into from webnovel. The only flaws are proper nouns and other forgivable grammatical errors.
  • The book is so fun it didn't slow me down a bit! 1000ch down in about 4 days. The only complaint is the relatively short length, but author wrapped it up superbly!

  • A good novel and interesting novel.
  • The MC is neither arrogant nor naive.
  • MC is not dense.
  • Good story flow with a few interesting characters
  • Good world-building
  • The only annoying thing that I find in this novel is when the MC uses works from earth and still credits the authors, like in Beauty and the Beast he still put the real author in the credits, when he made Hearthstone he said that a secret organization called Blizzard helped him. Bruh you can f*cking claim that it's your own work since your identity is similar to a mad inventor and they won't give a sh*t to your bullsh*t in the end fkcing dumbass.

This novel is similar to a kingdom building novel. But instead of waging war to unite the lands the MC uses movies, videogames and other forms of entertainment to bridge the culture gap between the demons and the other races. He wins wars not by fighting, but by "cultural propaganda".

Contrary to most other novels where the MC "invents" something from earth he actually credits them instead of saying he was the one who made it where he can. The cast of characters are also pretty nice and have their own... more>> background and personalities. There is also some romance, it's subtle mostly happens in the background. However, it is still satisfying seeing that the MC doesn't shy away from it.

I wish that the story, characters and world building were more fleshed out. The novel is good, but lacks a real depth unlike sword of dawn. Another nitpick is that things are going a bit too smooth sailing for the main character. He doesn't seem to suffer setbacks.

I give it a 4/5 for now. <<less

The premise is great. I always like laidback MCs transmigrating then proceeds to introduce earth cultures into a fantasy world. Just create movies and games and watch how the boring world gets real entertainment and live a real life rather than the monotonous work just to survive. In addition to that there's a subplot where there are enemies oppressing demons but MC uses his culture (movies, magic internet, and games) as weapons to fight them back. Overall the story is good but I have only 2 concerns:

    1. Minor details are forgotten so there are inconsistencies. Like in the first few chapters MC met the demon king with his brother and sister but a few tens of chapters later when the younger sister was introduced it was portrayed that he never met her which is inconsistent with the early chapters.
    2. is the Romance Aspect. It's a fake-harem but not the oblivious everyone is just a friend kind of MC, MC here isn't oblivious to affections, every friend of MC is either old-creature with high status or a young woman, men are either subordinates or old men. While there's a clear FL, MCs other female friends obviously has a crush on him and while MC doesn't cross the line, MC to some extent doesn't warn them. When the question regarding partner appears, the females always blushes then looked at MC. IF there's a fan-service situation like accidentally seeing changing clothes, messy pajams, sending pictures in pajamas, MC just naturally accept it unless the FL directly covered his eyes. I hate it more when the female friend hugs MC because she is scared then apologizes and blushes while the real FL is beside MC. There are even female friends reacting like some angry girlfriend when MC forgets to reply to them for a few days. The only good thing is that MC has the decency to never cross the line but it still makes me uncomfortable that he doesn't reject advances unless it's too much. The female friend's mother even advises her daughter to steal MC away from FL. Although it's 1-v-1 I've always felt the other females are some kind of spiritual pseudo-mistress. Although no direct romance with other females but the atmosphere isn't really what a friendship should have. Even though it was shown as teasing or joking around I saw it as a kind of flirting as females friends always blushes and MC stares or have a reaction. MC is like the kind of guy who already have a girlfriend but still reacts on beautiful girls' photos in instagram, while they're considered not cheating, it doesn't prevent them from looking at others, they're just resisting temptations which symbolizes majority of men.

While the story is good I'm slowly getting fatigued from reading too much of this kind of s**tty behavior, that it overwhelms the enjoyment of the story. Even though it's romance is a subplot I don't know If I can still go on till the end of the story. I am the kind of guy who prefers MC who aren't tempted easily by others and only find FL the only tempting person.

80percent of all important/reoccuring characters so far are women that either:

  • Are of the pitiful, frail, clingy, princess type that needs rescuing
  • Or, the overbearing, rude and insulting, unapologizing type
MC indulges ALL of them.

Besides that, what should've been a story of the 'reaction' genre (where MC comes up with new stuff, people react to it and go crazy, repeat (similar to Black Tech Internet Cafe)), at some point the Author seemingly decided to focus more and more on the barely third-rate subplot.

Also, some of the MC's decisions are really off. For example,... more>> he makes a potentially warchanging discovery of how to counteract some of his race's enemies abilities. All he would need to do is inform someone of that discovery. That's it. Nothing else, no further work on his part required. What does he do instead? Nothing - he is busy making a movie. <<less

I love this story! Even though MC has many girl 'friends', he didn't make a harem. The story is just so light and there are not many loopholes you can find. The ending is sooo good esp the extra chapters. “ψ (`∇´) ψ The mtl is easy to understand there are many comedic parts... so fuuun. :D

I highly recommend this story! o (^▽^) o

It's a different sort of empire-rebuilding novel, combining the entertainment world with real war in the demons vs humans setting of the stereotypical isekai. Unlike more generic novels, the MC is clued in to the possibility of reconciliation right from the start without being a naive optimist. The twist is his use of culture/soft power to achieve this. It's an interesting parallel to (and perhaps commentary on) the popularity of Korean and Japanese culture in China.

Unlike other popular novels with MCs that plagiarise art from real life to succeed, he... more>> modifies the content to suit his agenda of challenging anti-demon prejudices and credits the original artists. Although more respectable in that aspect, it is hard to square the MC being a force for good with how wantonly he takes advantage of the unhealthy behaviors and attitudes fostered by idol and video game culture. Plot-wise, we have the predictable scenario of some organisation being responsible for poor human-demon relations. Nonetheless, there is enough mystery about what they've done behind the scenes and their motivations for doing so to remain interesting. In addition, there is a cool twist with how the popularity of idols has consequences beyond just removing prejudices.

It's important to note that this is not just an entertainment world novel. We see forces of the major actors appearing in other areas of life. Wars between kingdoms of different races are instigated due to prejudice, propaganda and secret saboteurs. When the MC invents new technology based on the world's magic, there are far-reaching impacts on everyday life e.g. The spread of news, culture, discussions.

This mix of modern entertainment culture and medieval fantasy war can have its cons. Since the entertainment business is more of a means to an end (i.e. Better human-demon relations), the empire-building is slower than you'd expect. In 500 chapters, he's only released 4 films and has yet to produce a drama serial. If you came for the entertainment world stuff and don't like war or fighting, too bad.

Be prepared for reaction/fawning scenes too. This includes social media discussion common in most entertainment world novels and MMO novels. <<less

I like the idea of him bringing the 'culture' to this world, fighting through idealogy, and making the human who has some bad impression about demon change by portraying the good side of demons in the movies

- quasi-romance and quasi-harem (really hope they just input romance and harem even if they are just implying it)
- Most important character is mostly female
- FL is quite clingy, possessive, protective, and quite annoying
- No young master
- No unnecessary fighting
- No power level so we really don't know... more>> how strong they are;
- Somehow the dwarf got forgotten
- MC creates - some doubt and says low class or childish - boom reaction - a masterpiece
- MC says he is direct because he is a programmer but the way he talks is so vague. For example, he will say "I want you (I want your singing talent) " to a petite young girl while sizing her body. The girl will blush and misunderstand his meaning then MC acts like "what's this girl thinking". This will happen multiple times. <<less

it just starting off so slow that ive skipped 70% of the novels chapters ive read so far (only 29) simply because its all focusing on a sh*t Disney move I don't care about

not even explaining to anyone and just filming without permission

its one of those novels where MC can do no wrong

... more>> i mean at all

everything the MC does is a 10/10 Masterpiece apparently

and yeah there will probably be people commenting on this in their own reviews about how

"Fellow reviewer Purps shouldn't review because they have only read like 8 chapters and skimmed or skipped the rest and the novel is good because of xyz" but honestly it just seems like this to me

- MC Reincarnates

- MC is Perfectly Calm

- MC immediately decides he doesn't want power because that's an overdone trope and decides to do some Black Tech Internet Café stuff

- MC decides on a children's Disney Movie

- MC uses kidnapped victims plus a bomb held hostage to trick people into filming this movie

- Did I mention that MC has a perfect Memory and doesn't need to do double takes because his memory lets him perfectly shoot every scene? <<less

Was going to be a brainless novel to relax with all the new stuff MC introduces to the world, they get amazed, then he creates more but very very bad execution. Weirded out that MC would create his first movie while bamboozling a whole village, filming them and then profiting with no mention of them ever. Also, a character revealed to be a male succubi who doesn't want to wear skirt in the tavern and him pointing out the weird looks he gets for it and it just being brushed... more>> off.

I let the gender imbalance slide, since I've read quite a few novels with little to no women but somehow all women are good-looking, powerful, great, good looking villain (redeemable) blah blah. If there's a man it must be either old, villain (not redeemable), some guy out to force the female to marry them, some 'weird' guy for wearing dresses and likes men that gets discarded real quick. But really, the MC just makes me want to cringe. Oh no I'm a human guy that became a demon in another world who doesn't reject the advances cuz I'm sure they're just teasing me and I'm a straightforward guy except when I'm ambiguous with my sentences and stay quiet about important info cuz I'm making movies owo, he has no boundaries except when his lover tries to stop it or he kind of remembers her. The quasi-harem and romance 'subplot' was shite, the scene where the supposed FL gives her body to the MC like 'I know my body's not your type but have it anyways cuz I like you'. ????? You serious? You can probably do better, you're a supposed genius who can climb thru the ranks quickly without taking classes and being with MC almost 24/7, has a supposed genius mother and a sister who's S-tier at programming who made digital art possible. Maybe the MC was right and you just have stockholm syndrome (which he didn't address btw, just ONE of his questionable decisions of noticing stuff and staying quiet.)

Also the 16/17-year old girl trying to seduce MC is NOT an amusing character. Like her mother telling her their family isn't afraid of stealing men from others and if she was younger she can probs do it. She says they're only friends but still sends him thirst trap pics. Gurl. Wtf. She's just one of the girls interested on him (with lots of focus)

Tried to ignore those moments made me want to curl up in disgust and was hoping that it would be better with the MC just focusing on making stuff but obviously it won't after reading thru the reviews again.

Disappointing as hell.

Way Too Many Females

At first, it was fine and dandy. I absolutely loved it because of the laid back nature of the story as well the MC. But the more characters got introduced, the more I started disliking it. It's not that all characters are bad, but except for MC, rest of the main supporting characters are females, extremely beautiful, rich, powerful females who roam around MC. If a male gets introduced, he is usually just cast aside after a few chapters. If a female gets introduced, she... more>> appears frequently. At the start of the novel, this was not the case. Males and females were introduced equally, and their weight was also equal. But, after a certain point of time, every important character started to be females. For example,

    • There's a country with a king and queen, but the queen has the power and she is the one close to MC.
    • Another country is run by 7 sages, and there is only one female member, and her relationship with MC becomes somewhat relative-like.
    • Another country with a king and no queen, and the king turns out to be a female crossdressing as a male.
    • A country with a powerful king, but the person who talks with MC is a powerful noble girl.
    • Another country run by elders, but MC is mainly close with only one male elder but two females.
    • Another country with a king, but the duchess and her daughter are the ones close to MC.
    • If a male villain is introduced, he gets killed. If a female villain gets introduced, there's a huge chance she will start working under MC.
    • MC's assistant is also female.
    • MC's best employee is also female.
    • MC is closer to his female siblings than the only male sibling.
    • Male characters also already few and the ones that are close to MC are even less.
MC Doesn't Set Boundaries With Any Girl

The one mentioned above is not even the main problem. The problem is how even after MC is already married and his wife is pregnant, other girls keep hitting on MC, but he never sets boundaries with those girls.

Once, MC, FML and their friends are watching a movie. One of their friends, a young popular actress, is sitting between MC and her mother. It's a horror movie, and when she gets scared, she doesn't hug her mother, but rather hugs MC. What do you think MC does? He hugs FML, so that she won't think that he's cheating. Does he ask the girl to not hug him like that cuz he's already taken? Nope. Never. This girl also keeps on sending him thirst traps, but he never asks her to stop doing that. He is married and his wife is already pregnant for god's sake.

Once MC's sister asks him why his relationship with the other girls is so weird when he's already married and if his wife knows about this. He says that FML knows. He says that she's very aggressive and competitive and is always striving to be better than these girls. Like what the hell. She doesn't need to do that. It's his job to make her understand that she is enough. He is the one who needs to set boundaries and not the FML who has to continuously improve just to prove that she's the best for MC.

Another time MC's sister brings a girl and says to MC in front of thousands of people that the girl was supposed to be his fiance and she is ready to get married to him. MC is already married, you see. He doesn't say "I love my wife" or something like that, but says "Do I have a choice to say no?" As if, if his sister disagreed, he would marry her.

The main focus of the story is not even romance. In fact, MC's romance with FML is basically 0.0000009% of the story. However, his intimate moments with FML is less than with the other girls throwing themselves at him. Also, when FML hugs him, he goes "It's so uncomfortable." Even when they are about to have s*x, he goes, "Her chest is lacking."

He knows his wife is very conscious about her small chest, but he still goes and creates a game avatar who's a girl with big bust and butt, and even says, "A person's game character's appearance should match their ideal figure of the opposite s*x" in front of his wife and friends.

Even MC's eldest daughter feels insecure when he talks with women. She initially think he doesn't deserve her mom. She suspects he's cheating on his wife.

So, you can see how this story was written for male gaze right?

I seriously don't know how I even managed to finish reading this book.

Also, after another translator (the last one) takes over the translation, you're better off reading the MTL. At least you can console yourself by saying 'It's MTL, so it's okay if it's bad." <<less

TLDR: great premise, mediocre execution and a lot of wasted potential.

Honestly, just seeing the premise and the slice of life adventure story seemed like a win in my book, but as the story went on, it was slowly rolling down the hill until it hit the point of mediocrity.

The first decline was easy - the translation quality went from good to barely passable 1/3 of the way trough.

The second was a lot harder to notice, but once it got pointed out at the end it made sense - the MC... more>> feels apathetic to the world he is in, even after the romance began and then reached it's conclusion, he still felt like he didn't care, and I couldn't care too.

The third was the ending. I mean, it's there, but it was so bland and boring that for probably the first time, I would rather have "indefinite hiatus" ending. FFS, how the f do you make your end boss and the end fight less interesting than most of the previous low and mid level bosses? It's just disapointing.

Also, the amount of things left unanswered is just insane. Just the fact that by the end we still know basically nothing about the otherworldly thing that is threatening the wold, and the MC does not care... The MC getting issekaed is also barely explained, and by the end we still don't even knows if he even revealed that fact to anyone, despite multiple times that he was suspected, is just frustrating.

A few chapters into epilogue I completely lost any interest of reading the rest, because instead of explaining some previously skipped or unexplained things, or doing literally anything that would make the story better, it just continued with normal slice of life shenanigans, only with a few additional characters, barely even acknowledging that the big bossfight even happened. <<less

Really like this MC. He's powerful, but never seems to find it necessary to bully anyone around him, while at the same not not remotely a pushover. It's fun watching him change their world step by step, making doubters into enthusiasts. Also enjoy reading about people's reactions to his movies.

3 Star.

-1 Star for the inconsistent TL'd name of one character..

Ciri -> Cirley -> Hailey -> Hiri -> etc, then roll back in some chapters and another one in another.

The idea is interesting, but as it most of the time focusing on Warcraft and Dota for the game part, it makes me not really into the game section as its over 600 ch tl'd but it still only on those, sure game dev hard but its another world, they got magic, illusion and stuff, from my perspective MC only utilize... more>> the high ranking mages for his project, sure it has 'oh so high quality' visual BUDD why can't he use the lower rank mages to make the alpha version or beta test the game first before polishing it.

Too much hype on Warcraft and Dota in this novel it makes me bored instead, as I played the game years ago and the thing changes are mostly the visual, item and story, so the gameplay mostly the same and really MC can just put it off a bit and make another project as he already has the money as he said "money wasn't valuable to him anymore" but he lazy to use the excess of it to hire people.

Good idea of novel, mediocre delivery. <<less

Really like the novel, interesting concept and story. Unfortunately, after around chapter 360 the translation is really bad, and the ending is rushed. The supposedly great war ends in only a couple of chapters, plot materials are skipped, and some mysteries are left unexplained. There isn't even the Game of Throne mentioned in the description!

Honestly, I really loved the Idea of bringing culture from earth to another world. And here, it even has a purpose of removing propoganda against demons. It's done good, but I really don't like the Plot Armor.

For example, there is this girl that was taken hostage, Ciri. She was very weak, and is really annoying most of the time. When they get to the first city, she's suddenly a genius? And suddenly at the later chapters her Mother was a hard genius aswell, and she was under the Purple Mage... more>> too?

The character plots are really.. How should I say, non-convincing? They appear left and right just so move the plot forward.

Ciri, suddenly become a know-it all of Earth's culture with no explanation other than "she spends a lot of time with the MC."

Also, most of the characters are extremely unlikeable somehow? For example Madam Schroder, she acts as if she owns the Movie-Making establishment and is habitually trying to use our MC whenever they meet. Part of Joshua's empathy for Ciri, and how he decided not to meet the Red Mage because the guy made a little prank that hurt Ciri, who tried to protect Joshua, even though Joshua isn't really afffected by magic due to being a Chaos Demon.

But, ignoring all that I would recommend it if you can gnash your teeth through those hard reads. <<less

The story was intriguing from the start and I enjoyed it quite a lot, even not minding the contradiction that after meeting all his siblings the ML later says he hadn't met Faye. While the ML accepted his situation a tad bit too soon it got me thinking what kind of guts he has that he doesn't fear the demons seeing them face to face cause he is a programmer not some mercenary. After reaching chapter 100 I got some doubt and that is why those young people around the... more>> ML are all FEMALES! Then I checked the tags again to confirm if it's harem and relaxed hoping that male characters will be introduced later and now my hope is thrashed... It turned out this is a fake harem which I learner from one of the review, this makes me disappointed and I don't know if I should read further.

When the FL was introduced I thought she was some minor character cause she is kind of like a wild girl that's all. Even the actress from farucci is more like a FL but later I accepted the fact that Ciri is the FL. Then the author had to make all the young females revolve around the ML as friends cuz the males are either subordinates or old. While the other young males are only passing characters. It makes you wonder are the males in this world not strong, not good, not charismatic, immature or simply just not eligible to be MLs friend. From the many female characters introduced till chapter 439, many of them could have been males like the knight (messia) from holy church, beastgirl under Morgan (old actor from farucci), elfs (no male elf mentioned except sefran who is yes... old), the prince (disguised princess) from frost country, even Ciri's elder sister could have been a male. In this story the ML is like the center of focus surrounded by females who ultimately likes him cuz you know there are no other Males! ML has no dedication since he doesn't refuse the advances of others, also flirts BUT in limit... he is a s**tty guy seriously. Also the MLs elder brother Knox was wierd to me as it is mentioned, the war he fought against humans is more due to hate (cuz the death of his kinsmen). But here we go he got feelings for an enemy human prisoner (female) since she is not afraid of demons, I want to ask "where's your hate?". That prisoner is more like a mental case as she's not afraid of demons and is friendly then why did she participate in war where you have to kill the other. You will see she lives unrestricted like that is her home (she is in enemy camp) and plants flower, get accepted by other demons which I find very nonsensical cuz the characters will mention many times that their war has been for too long to accept the other quickly. And lo and behold just cuz your enemy isn't afraid of you, is friendly and does whatever they want ultimately gets accepted. What a Good formula!

Many more things doesn't make sence, MLs memory gets good but how come he even remembers every scene angle from previous world's movies, songs lyrics, musical notes and all. He is a programmer in gaming how come he had time to remember and do so many entertaining things other than gaming.

It would have been better if there was no romance, just makes my head hurt. Nevertheless it is an interesting story but now I will just skip those tr*shy parts and read ahead. <<less
