Mahiro had been in and out of hospitals all her life due to her severe heart disease. One night, she opened her eyes as she felt the breeze blow into her room.

Standing beside her bed, the youth with a hood pulled past his eyes* introduced himself as the Death God.

He said, “I have come to take your soul.”

Mahiro, who was told that she would die in 30 days, cheerfully asked him, “Till that day, won’t you be my conversation partner and keep me company?”

Mahiro had been alone in the hospital all this time.

Spending time with the Death God, her life gradually became more fun.

But the fateful day was soon approaching.

Day by day, her heartbeat grew weaker.

Her voice turned hoarse.

Seeing Mahiro like this, what the Death God did was—

“Hey, Mr. Death.”

“What?”

“Don’t leave me.”

“I won’t. I’ll be beside you till your last moments.”

A bittersweet love story between a Death God and a girl waiting for her death, never fated to be.

This is very sweet, a bit melancholic and a nice short read. MC is admirably optimistic when speaking to ML despite her circumstances. I'm looking foward to new chapters.

I dived straight into the raws and endured the grammatical barriers that my mind kept on rejecting. I was reluctant but I'm glad that I pushed through.

To start things off, I cried. In 28 short chapters, it managed to squeeze that small portion of my heart into a ball of mess. It was cathartic and melancholic.

Mahiro, in all her glory, is the epitome of finding strength in weakness. Let me explain, she spent most of her life inside the hospital, with the looming death hanging over her head. She's always... more>> been physiologically weak and sick. She's in denial when it comes to her emotions but we later see the resolution to this further down the storyline.

The grim reaper, or death god as they call it, has garnered most of my sympathy here. He is so selfless and selfish (it'll make sense if you read it) that I just want to give him a huge pat in the back. And he barely had any dialogues. That's how much of an impact he has. He's protected her interests and well-being better than his own.

Their connection goes way beyond the death and duty. It surprises me how much someone can give so much in return for a moment of happiness. Humans are a very peculiar species often ens*aved by emotions, and this novel is one of a good demonstrations of that.

Are there plot holes? Yes. Are all the characters well fleshed out? No. Does it sort of romanticize death? Kinda. Does this deter me from liking it as a whole? No, definitely not. Will I suggest others to read this? Also, yes.

I wish I could articulate everything I felt after reading this but alas, this would have to suffice. To whoever is reading this, you should give it a try. <<less
