This is quite an interesting spin on a Villainess story though it's still tied to the cliches. The MC is a supporting role and not part of the main cast and he's very much aware of the feelings of the characters towards him. (he's not fully dense hallelujah)

MC is a Gary Sue but the story progression makes it so that you don't get too bored.

A very fun read within the villainess genre to pass time while snacking away (it's hilarious how Cyril doesn't realize that he's prime capture... more>> target material. Loyal, caring, supportive... All these qualities totally make him a capture target lol)

Translation is great too. 2.8/5 stars <<less

This novel had good plot but basically it throws the reason and common sense out of the window.

Author doesn't know about the european monoarchy nor that the treatment of their heirs, who can approch their daughters.

Yes they will never allow a young butler to go close to their young daughter. The butler would be either old or an maid.

So how could MC get close to heiress ? Just become normal servent. Do deeds for her in back then let her find out about him. But no he spends time with... more>> a girl who has fiance the prince as long as the suns out. In first place if shes the fiance of prince she would be watched 24/7. Thats basically future f*king queen of the kingdom. Theres nothing political schemes or Shadow games just non sense.

Everything in this novel is just happening cause the author desires to or else he has to put hard work in writing the novel.

I will say try reading

Otomega or ReVillain all routes lead to death flag much better or falling in love with villaineous (the author stole plot from this novel prob) <<less

The main characters of this series are over powered, but not in a bad way. Their op-ness doesn't detract away from the kind of story thats's being told.

The focus isn't on how can they accomplish their goals, but rather how they go about it and why. The how and why are very entertaining because of the great personalities held by the main cast.

And while there isn't much in the way of physical obstacles, all the character play a game of politics and follow certain rules affect their actions.

Finally the story... more>> does a good job of use everything mentioned above to create emotional tension and pay off, despite the reader generaly knowing most of the outcome. This is only possible because the characters and writing make the specifics interesting enough on their own.

Also the jokes and humor are pretty solid. <<less

I want to write review this novel that I had been hold off for while. I don't fan read male pov on romance tag to date girl. I was fear summary is not what I thought.

However, it beat my expects because female lead is so amazing that she is not clingy or cried (cough common shoujo weak girl or weak girl in shounen) I would said it really similar how I would read OP female MC with op ML but this time OP male MC with op FL.

I like how story plot focus on how deal in school system where there are faction; common and elitist. Bonus that a MC actually focus to be shadow for his master aka FL since he want to be truly butler for FL to escape death flag and bring FL's happiness. Too bad that his charm and skills is very amazing to be stay in shadow.

I really amazed how author put story plot on volume 1 with school faction and how overcome with royals at first crisis. MC is amazing male, I would love to read from female lead pov on MC since many reader think MC is perfect ML on romance book.

cough.. I don't read all chapter but I can see FL could be Yandere or similar, she already claimed that she will against god if they take MC away from FL.

A very nice novel indeed~ It follows the ideals and struggles that Cyril and Sophia faces and they’re really interesting to read. They are both really lovable and adorable~! They’re so perfect for each other! I ship those two so hard! CyrilxSophia for the win! Also, the yandere, jealousy, in Sophia and her love for Cyril is really good and strong in this one. So wonderful. Period.

Honestly this is good in the sense that what the characters do is reasonable for their characters. I like that not everyone is as they are first presented. Knowlage of the future doesn't seem to play a big role. Most of the protagonist's edge comes from his previous life and the skills he gained there, not to mention his dedication to studying to better himself. I do not want this to become too much about teen drama and all that stuff when there is so much potential for the political... more>> schemes. I do believe that this

may just eventually become one of those stories where they try to change aristocratic society to their own ideals. I would rather there be complex schemes and plots to gain power and influence to get what they want and it should not come without cost. <<less

Im no that great on reviewing things but, I just want to say this is a great series to read. Not your typical reincarnation novel where the MC is dense AF and cant do shet. The story is great, with capable translator to boot. And for you dipsh*t who lower the novel rating because of 1 chapter of how dense and s*upid both faction are, redo the rating and give it a frickin 5 star!!!

The villainess is very cute and MC isn't annoying as of chapter 7. You might not enjoy how the MC is subservient and a couple of repetitive paragraphs the author writes to make himself clear. Also, I have a feeling that this might need a 'harem' tag.

I hate the politics in this series. Kids acting like their every word will bring about the downfall of a family and then some off the rails young master decides that they have any say in the decisions of the main characters.

Anyways others than my preferences, the story and characters are good.

It's uninteresting and boring

The story goes on about factions and sh*t like that but the readers won't really care if it's just bland f*cking talking every chapter. Show don't tell. There's no consequences, just "If I do this, my lady will lose face" kind of thing. The premise of the story is good, but it doesn't need to be that boring; this could've gotten more recognition if it wasn't for the bland plot. I am hoping for action because there's only one fight scene throughout my read but if the... more>> author doesn't like the idea then dialogue could be the main source of dopamine. Dialogue can be a good source of entertainment but no, it's dry. Read if you like idea/plot holes and bland story telling. Trust me, you won't care about half the f*cking story. <<less

The story is not bad.

I liked: the romance part, a bit of politics, a bit of entertainment and club activities.

I disliked: 2nd volume got sidetracked and there was a gigantic arc not about the lead couple at all. Then, MC is too much of a superhuman sometimes, even if he is a reincarnator, when did he have time to learn all that stuff in this world, he is a kid and a full time worker at that.

Result: 4, but I'm about to give it 3 if the main arc will... more>> still get no attention. <<less

I find it hilarious that people call "Character Traits", "Plot holes" and "Flaws in the story".

I guess they are used to the MC without personality all this F'n Japanese authors use.

Anyway, yeah, this MC haves a very clear and distinct personality, he's teaching modern common sense while maintaining the moral standards of the era.

This isn't a "plot hole" please refer to the definition of "plot hole" (an inconsistency in the narrative or character development of a book, film, television show, etc.) before you use the term, why is it that every time someone uses the term on their reviews they are SO wrong? is that the only writing term you know???.

If you don't like the characters THAT'S FINE, that doesn't make them a "flaw on the story" or a "plot hole"

Yes, he IS hypocritical, what about it?? he's not supposed to be a "Bastion of morality", he's there just for the sake of his Lady, to teach her and nurture her, that is CONSISTENT with his character... oh! look! and it's EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS IN THE TITLE for crying out loud.

[collapse]

Let me write my actual review.

First of all, the worldbuilding is a bit clunky with some unfinished exposition dump that begins to be developed as the setting is expanded in the story, but it's not that bad because it serves its purpose.

The characterizations and character progression is congruent and well portrayed in-between, they are 12, so the romance is appropriately portrayed for that age, specially considering the established world and plot progression.

It's not perfect but the author has managed to make the characters "deep enough" to move the plot forward while maintaining a theme and narrative that is interesting and entertaining.

I quite liked how he teaches her, with his abilities she has being taught splendidly and the character growth is good enough, of course things are stalling, it makes sense because they are 12!

I find this more believable than them suddenly being all lovey dovey (that would be a plot hole) the trials and tribulations they HAVE to overcome to finally be together are well pointed out and developed in the story and setting, everything is appropriately set up!.

The only thing I find that works against the setting is that there will be no significant time skip, so if you were expecting a resolution to their "romance" you're gonna wait quite a good chunk of time.

But IT MAKES SENSE, because the author takes its time to characterize and set up everything appropriately.

It's a bit on the nose so the "teasing" can become a bit annoying but I don't think it's badly done.

Leaving the characters aside for a bit, the novel is shrouded by class structure and political intrigue.

I find this good because the focus of the "romantic development" isn't actually what the plot is about, it's a set up, and a future dread, but there are more important things happening "right now".

I kind of found V2 a bit annoying because the author used the common Japanese trope of the "school festival" TWICE (One being a ball organized by the butlers, the other being the ANOTHER over used cliché of putting up a PLAY... Argh...).

I really despise that authors keep recycling this settings, and using it twice was, for me, very annoying... but the developments were fiiine, they serve their purpose to have character growth all around.

So, yeah, the personalities of the characters are well developed, THEY HAVE a PERSONALITY so if you're used to the wet-toilet-paper MC Japanese authors always use, then you're probably not gonna like this guy hahahaha.

Just as a final note, the MC doesn't grow because he's already "grown" so... yeah, it makes sense but it's the same with all this characters, even with the lack of character growth at least he's consistent and haves a very understandable personality (even if you don't like him, you can understand him... Oh I like him BTW, he's fine.) <<less

Excellent novel, I was fearing it was just slice of life diabete stuff, but it has interesting things going on, and while looking like a shoujo at first glance, it isn't one.

Pro

  • The MC is intelligent, very capable, and more mature than his age. I'm sick of stories where MCs are supposed to be reincarnated as adults and yet reacts like teens to everything. So other female character falling in love with him, or other character admiring him, make sense in the context.
  • The cast is all very good, the main girl is also capable, and her obvious love for the MC is adorable.
  • Political schemes are interesting to follow, and everyone behaves with multiple layers of hidden meanings, properly explained by the narration.
  • Chapters are long and well translated, very good in fact, so no ridiculous Japanese words left for s*upid reasons.
Con

  • The beginning is a little slow.
  • IMO this needs slightly more chapter with the pov of another character.
  • The past of the MC is hardly explained.
  • The world he is in lacks substance outside of where he lives and the kingdom it's set.

Definitely something I’ll continue reading. For one, the MC is actually very intelligent, and the story is told from his perspective as he watches over the villainness in the otome game world. He’s this unflappable Prince Charming who is too smart for his own good. Honestly, I expected myself to hate the FL, but she’s equally as smart as the MC (he has an advantage in mental age) and just as politically savvy. The author doesn’t force her character, which makes her likeable. MC might be my favourite one. Loyal... more>> boyfriend material right here. <<less
