“I will take care of this girl.”

My name is Ayako Katsuragi, I’m 30 years old. It’s been 10 years since I took custody of my dead sister’s daughter. My daughter is now a high school student and gets along pretty well with her childhood friend, Takumi Aterazawa. Maybe they’ll start dating soon? Ta-kun is a very nice boy and I’m rooting for him. Huh? “Please, give me your daughter” is what you want to tell me? Oh, gosh, you’re so formal-

“Ayako-san, I’ve been in love with you for a long time. Please, go out with me.”

“…You like me, not my daughter?!”

A woman that raised her sister’s daughter and a boy that was in love with her. This is the start of a romantic comedy of an extremely pure love in which pent up feelings will explode after years!

Pretty good. Since the description doesnt make it clear, their age gap is 10 years, and the main lead is 20. I was worried he was in highschool before I started reading this

FL (who is 30+ years old) acts like a twelve year old throughout the entire series. This quickly gets very, very annoying.

Nothing ever happens in this show. When you think something is about to happen, or further develop the relationship between the main characters, the author introduces some pointless, juvenile, completely avoidable drama to stagnate the story.

This story somehow fails at both being a romance, and being a fluffy, wholesome romcom. If you don't feel like wasting your time, then don't read this.

I am happy. I found a very beautiful novel. This isn't the typical JP story with oblivious and dense highschooler MC surrounded by girls even though he is average.

The story (as of Vol 1 epilogue) is mainly between the PoV of the ML and FL. The FL is 30 years old single mother (thought she adopted her daughter.) and the guy is a 20 year old university student.

Frankly this story is full of sweetness and lightness but behind that hide à certains maturity. The FL isn't just a cute woman.... more>> She is a 30 year old mother. She is someone with responsibility and works. How would she react if someone she saw as a kid suddenly confessed? I must say the author showed something rather realistic. Of course there are some exaggerations. But hey. This is a light novel.

I also really like the ML. He is a little shy but he is also very serious. Since 10 he began working and studying to be worthy of the woman he wanted to love. He isn't some Otaku loner. Nor some average looking dude.

In short I really like this story and I hope it will continue being as it as it is now <<less

This merely will focus on the overall aspect of what I think, the progression and the pace/tone of the series... I quite like it but at the same time, reading it, I felt like my brain just somehow lose every single IQ I have saved from the moment I became ret*rded, just disappeared when I read this. Anyway, I might tweak this review when ummmm the LN has progressed to the point that substantial material are available and if progress have been achieved in the story... but ummm... I dont... more>> think so? This is merely, my unadultered shitpost from reading vol.1 to reading vol.2c2... so enjoy I guess?

Spoiler

Mhhhh, I am not trying to offend Japanese writers; but I feel like, Japanese writers, majority of them; or like, all of them (I think) are magicians. I feel like, they have this standard when they write something that is exquisite, noble and very refined but then when they actually started to write the words that makes the world of it; it just so happens that no matter how noble or how refined the idea is, it so happens that the end reason or how it happens to go with are plainly ret*rded or simply put it down-to-earth will trigger that funny bone you have and just have this uncontrollable urge to smash the mug you're holding and just go mad. I f*cking love romance series... I f*ckING DO! I'm an incel weeb degenerate that will rejoice the purity of romance because of the otherworldly affect of romanticism attached to the world unknown to me, But goddamn, Japanese authors just have this ability to make a simple romance turn into a f*cking comedy series. Like.... I dont know if all Japanese author have this genius side of them being comedian but I sure do know that all the stand-up comedians I've watched are all african americans.

This series will straight up suck every f*cking braincell you have and turn you into an idiot. Ummm that's understandable, Every romance series at this early stage of romance are like that ret*rded faithful meeting encounter cliche. Like, it's easy to go down the rabbit hole for it to be so disgustingly tilting. I dont hate how vol.01 has this "immature" tone because I feel like, even if it's like the most mature JP LN, like it's just the nature of the core of ALL JP WNs to have this RETADEDNESS attached to every f*cking word in flow or atmosphere. I like how subtle it was tho, that the relationship that MC and heroine have was slowly fleshed out... We do f*cking know that they're a decade old apart and the scenario that led to scenes when MC was a child upto the point, where he wasnt, and the heroine being an adult upto the point where umm she somehow became a teenage girl in love, have this very relaxing atmosphere. I quite like it, and this sense of time that's between them has this tension and when heroine slowly pushed forth, has this sense of fulfillment that I feel like, isnt worth the goddamn life of an ant I killed when I was a kid, or the c*ckroach I just killed today. Like because, it's this sense of JP LNs that I feel like, will regardless of whatever f*cking cliche was "resolved" and how MC and heroine got closer together; will still have this sense of PLATONIC undertone to every f*cking f*cking f*cking f*cking f*cking roundabout way of ending it. Like, I feel like, this sense of equilibria of platonicness that displayed and will still be presented regardless of the AHAHAHAHAHA MC goes brr brr for being GENTLEMAN, will still follow this equilibrium shift that goes towards platonic relationship tone... I DO NOT MIND PLATONIC RELATIONSHIP... I f*ckING READ OTONARI FOR THE f*ckING f*ckING REASON OF EMBRACING THE AHAHAHAAHAH JAPENSE CULTURE GOES BRRRR BRRRRR, but god f*cking damn I never get into this sense of blissfulness of enjoying a JP romance LN simply because of this fact of being this platonic equilibrium shift that goes to the f*cking extreme that just.... wow.... shows why Japan is gonna f*cking die because there's no more babies in there. Like wow....

The MC is like the epitome of PURENESS, it's like he's the reincarnation of virg*n Mary and the heroine is like virg*n Mary. Put those two together in a single room and you'll have.... I guess.... FLUFF ROMANCE? Ummmm unaltered passionate glance of their love? UMMMMM pure PLATONIC handholding scene that's completely PURE because they're actually wearing cond*ms? Like I dunno how to put it... it's like you (the reader) have a doll and you have the complete power to either make them go h**ny all day or make them not h**ny all day and ummm the author just so happens to choose the latter because, I dont f*cking know how in the the f*cking universe can you so f*cking genius that a 30 yo woman will be f*cking turn brainless h**ny (pure) 4 yo maiden in love when MC suddenly confessed to him.... Like that's a f*cking... I dunno how to put it.... funny? She's the epitome of submissive copypasta heroine. It's like, if you gave her a d*ck she'll prolly think it's not a d*ck and it's a lollipop. She doesnt have a personality that will make you like her, and I think further on; she never will have or develop it. It's simply because I feel like, the one dimenionallistic Jap authors found this ummm... quite moe? I mean.... sure...

I dont hate reading the novel, in fact I loved every f*cking word of it.... It's just that, when I read vol.01 to the current vol right now, this sense of unease and the doom that all JP romance have ingrained in my brain just corrupts my f*cking soul and just makes me mad.

It's a fun romcom about a age gap romance between a MILF and a 10y younger man who she though he loved her daughter. The thing is, Ayako (MILF), due to the circunstance of raising her daughter, has no experience of dating so she acts like a teenager through the whole series, which is the comedy of the novel. Each novel ends with a cliffhanger.

the fanservice moments are good, but this novel has 2 big problems: 1. Most of the flashbacks are disposable to the main story. These chapters could... more>> be excluded from the novel and nothing would change, it's like reading side stories in the main novel; 2. The pacing is terrible, you can summarize each volume in just one phrase (I will do that below). This whole series could squeeze in just 2 volumes instead of 7.

By the time I read, this is the volume rank's (from best to worst) in my opinion: 3>1>6>5>2>4

Here's the summary of all volumes:

Vol. 1

Spoiler

ML confess his love to Ayako (MC) and she becomes aware of him as a man, tries to make him give up on her but fails, at the end she accepts his love and gives him a chance, not dating yet.

[collapse]

Vol. 2

Spoiler

ML gets sick due to anxiety and overwork for his date with Awayko, she took care of him. Later he meets Ayako's boss and she made Ayako wear a HS uniform. The third part of the novel is the two having an normal date, but Ayako still didn't give an answer to ML's confession and still indecisive. So Miu (Ayako's daughter) says that she likes ML and becomes a rival.

[collapse]

Vol. 3

Spoiler

Ayako, Miu and ML have a trip to an onsen, Miu starts to get more flirtly and touchy with ML. At the climax, Ayako finally admits to Miu that she loves ML as a man and wants him to herself. The novel ends with Ayako straigh up kiss ML.

[collapse]

Vol. 4

Spoiler

Ayako realizes that she didn't respond to ML's confession yet and they aren't dating. She says that she will settle things, but only runs and avoids ML due to embarass**ent. She only responds when ML catches her up. They start dating, but theres another problem: she has to move to Tokyo for 3 months due to work.

[collapse]

Vol. 5

Spoiler

Ayako moves to Tokyo and ML surprises her, because her boss arranges an internship for him in Tokyo, now they're living together. They act like a newlywed couple, but still didn't have s*x. ML's new coworker is a former HS classmate who liked him, but he rejected at that time, Ayako finds out about that at the end of the volume.

[collapse]

Vol. 6

Spoiler

Turns out the ML's coworker move on at that time and she doesn't love ML (of course, but Ayako's insecurities made her think differently), this girl actually has a boyfriend. Ayako and ML finally have s*x and now they're doing every day. The novel ends with her pregnancy.

[collapse]

Vol. 7

Spoiler

I still didn't read, but by the illustrations is very clear that we will see Ayako's through prenancy and later she will marry ML

I've read until the latest volume (vol. 5) in Japanese and I just want to say that this is an amazing pure love comfy LN, I'd give it 10/10 just from pure enjoyment since I love these types of stories and this one does it really well.

The character development of Mama Ayako and Takkun as they both overcome their anxieties and the uncertainties of their relationship until the current volume has been nothing short of marvelous.

It's a really easy LN to read in Japanese too, so if you guys are... more>> looking to study Japanese, I highly recommend trying to read this one in Japanese~!

I've recommended this LN to a ton of friends who study Japanese and most of them have given positive reviews, it's such a wholesome LN that touches on topics of societal expectations, age-gap romance, and the pure mishaps and mistakes of total beginners to love. Some scenes might feel a bit cringe or annoying because of how inseparable yet distant the two were throughout vol.1-2, but as they start to resolute themselves it becomes clear (especially for Mama Ayako) how they need to approach each other, vol.3 was a ride with some interesting conflicts and vol.4 was just a rollercoaster until the end where something amazing happens (no spoilers lmao).
Vol.5 has been a great opening to a new arc and beginning to their relationship which implies many things (uhuhuhu) and really touches upon the more inevitable "Adult" side of their connection.

Although the volumes can sometimes feel vexing with the number of cliffhangers as each volume passes but reading the next one always gives a sense of pure joy and accomplishment as Mama Ayako and Takkun take concrete steps to further their relationship amidst all the misunderstandings of Takkun and wishy-washy nature of Mama Ayako.

It's more colloquially known as "Mommy LN" in the forums and servers I post in since it's such a definitive work for the "Single-Mother" series. Would love if people could start popularizing it as the "mommy ln" it is lmao <<less

What can I say, this is the newest best romance novel i've read so far, next to "angel living next door". The awesome background is one thing, author's realistic writing and philosophies clearly has taken it to a whole new height in the romance genre of light novel world. In the midst of repeated monotone stormy romcom voyage, it paves to a brand new crimson horizon of holiness. No wonder, it's no. 2 in kimirano contents.I'll just note the strong points-

1. Fluffy moments (yeah what we're generally looking for)

2.... more>> Responsibilities (facing the relationship in regards of society. This is definitely most important, cz in real life, you'll have to think from the society perspectives and author nicely manages to portrait it off)

3. Multiple pov (totally balanced, so makes it fluffier)

4. MC & FMC are clear headed (thank god, cz i've had enough of dense protagonists)

Spoiler

Some may say fMC is annoying, for not reciprocating mc's feelings. But you'll have to know that despite being 30 years old, she has never fallen in love. So, she's just experiencing the th**ny path for the first time. Also, since she's established mother, she feels the pull of common sense (?). However, it gradually turns for better.

[collapse]

Read it, it's definitely worth you time if you like romance genre

Special thanks to Lecarn for good translations, hope you'll continue this masterpiece. <<less

Definitively worth it!!!!

Well, the characters are well setled, each one has their own paper and it is easy to recognise it.

The story itself is cliche. It is not something that is going to revolutionize the genre pr anything....

... more>> But! The way things are made make the story so good and so enjoyable, the way author wrote this is so good that you can feel every "corner" of each moment when he wants you to feel some emotion.

Aside that, this author is something else... he himself knows what his fans want and almost like breaking the 4th wall he shows to you that he knows exactly how you feel about Light Novels and what he must do to avoid writing a boring story.

The romance is just on point, things are paced slow but when the time comes, you'll feel it, with every fiber of your being.

I give this a 9.8/10!! <<less

The following is a copy of my comment/review on mangaupdates, which I believe is as good as it can be:

It's hard to put into words just how much I love this novel.

First of all, we have both an adult main character and an adult heroine, and to top it off there is no harem. And I mean that seriously, there are a total of zero love rivals or anything like that.

It's very funny and heartwarming, and I found myself squealing like a little girl (in my head at least) more... more>> than once.

The author is also very self aware of light novel characters and romcom tropes/cliches, and every so often references them, makes fun of them, or more often, gives them a logical twist or explanation.

About the only thing one can complain about is that it is quite slow paced, and the heroine is constantly in self denial, together with the fact that it is somewhat hard to believe that a thirty year old woman would behave like she does sometimes.

But it is repeatedly explained why she is like that, even if it may strain somewhat the suspension of disbelief, and eventually she gets over her denial.

And while the drama can sometimes be a bit hard to swallow, it still is leagues above 99% of all other novels and easier to believe.

If you don't have patience for a slow romance, with a heroine that is constantly doubting herself (and this is something everyone in-story, including herself is aware of) then don't read this.

Instead, if you want to read a slow, but very sweet romance story between an adult couple with a ten year age gap, in which every problem that comes up is resolved step by step, and the main focus is on the path to start dating, and later on what that relationship is like once they do date, absolutely read this.

My rating 10/10, is more about overall enjoyment, because while this is certainly not a master piece and is not for everyone, I have enjoyed just as much as any masterpiece. <<less

Much of what need be said has already been covered by others. Nonetheless, this is an enjoyable read. The plot is pretty average, but what I like most are the characters, the interactions, and their development as the story progresses.

The only one I majorly have complaint with is the FL. She was quite annoying up until the 5th volume with how indecisive and cowardly many of her actions were. The majority of the drama in this novel stems from how indecisive she is for the initial 3-4 volumes. It’s only... more>> when they get together and a bit after does she seem to mature in the sense of how she interacts with the MC.

MC isn’t any where near perfect either (not that it’s expected of him), but at least he was bearable to a certain extent. Really see this couple grow after they begin cohabiting.

Would easily recommend reading. Just unfortunate that there hasn’t been an update in months and I can’t find the raws anywhere. Honesty wish that there were more decent novels with this sort of premise. <<less

Before starting it, I first read its manga it piqued my interest and then I started it after that. I liked it very much Cauz it was a little different from another romance ln. The MC liked fMC for more than 10 years so I like the MC cauz of that and been trying to become worthy of her. As for fMC she is dense, air head and ofc virg*n.

Well most chapters are fluffy slice of life and romantic where they both try their best for each other.
