A great reincarnation cultivation novel. The MC has future knowledge and OP powers from his reincarnation, which is pretty common, but it is very exciting and well written at first. The plot armor is strong but not too noticeable. There are close calls and a lot of the usual cliches but they are still fun to read. A great story to start with for this genre and a definite must-read for fans of the genre. Some problems with info-dumps but other than that, things move fast. The face-slapping is also... more>> not overdone. There is face-slapping, of course, but the author does actually include other plot points.

Having said all of that, those words of praise only apply for the first 300 chapters. Sadly these stories are about some super-genius trapped in a weak body, so once the super genius builds up their cultivation level they become unstoppable and the MC-only power ups become obnoxious. And this story is no exception. The chapters from 300 to the 500s are better than a lot of others in this genre but there is still a noticeable drop in writing quality. That particular flaw is made more noticeable by the new translator having worse translation quality than the translator for the early chapters. So I would say a 5 for the start of the story (definitely read if you are interested in the genre) and a 3 for the story at this point (average for the genre).

Spoiler

The MC gets through a lot of early tight spots by scaring people with his killing intent. This is a bit of a vague concept for those new to the genre but this story explains it pretty well. Essentially, skilled fighters can sense when somebody has killed a lot of people. You can think of it as an aura that skilled and/or experienced fighters can sense. The MC has a ton of killing intent due to his circumstances, so people who want to kill him are intimidated by it (If you knew that a person had killed way more people than you, wouldn't you be intimidated or at least extra cautious?). Even though he is weak, people who notice the aura think he's dangerous. Basically he's bluffing with an aura that he can't back up. I personally had no problem with it and didn't really think about it as plot armor until just now. I think that it is an excellent use of plot armor that isn't obnoxious but if it triggers you then that would make the start of this story pretty annoying too. It's all subjective.

Boring, mary sue MC, the setting is nice at first, but it rapidly devolves to a boring fest.

The cultivation is boring as f*ck, to much type one type two, type 3 wherever, to much of the same thing being done all the time.

And the MC is a ret*rd, acts as a teenager meeting his first love as soon as he encounters his "master", common she never knew you, you simpleton, try build trust little by little not showering her with wisdom that never should have been your's and can never... more>> be explained.

Is boring, reading the comments wass a Far better option, at least plp understand some of the flaws and can point out how it should have been done ^^

Not my case, I just find it boring beyond redemption <<less

Do recommend.

MC isn't always offending young masters and killing everyone he encounters but isn't a soft**** to those he's enemies with. Those that cross him are killed in the end. Those that are allied are benefited greatly.

As always he has massive plot armor but it's reworded As "godly luck" but has some logic to it since it's his memory from his past life that has made everything possible.

... more>> There is a developing harem with 4 women but so far he hasn't done the deed (ಠ ͜ʖ ಠ)

Only down side is that when all the elements are talk about it seems it seems that air is not included.. They have fire, water, earth, metal and wood but not once has anything been said about air. <<less

And dropped. It was good or great until author introduce harem in it and I hate harema which are forced and MC being 10000 yrs old, such a joke his behaviour isn't even like 500 yrs and the amount of word per plot it poor like full of fillers and author filled the type of same word again and again... And their one particular shi bit*h which I hate too much.. and MC being simp just because the sect leader forced him.. and the 10000 yrs of experience go brrr...

It's... more>> definitely a good novel but it's such a waste if author could be more mature in making development. <<less

Here to answer One Simple Question: Is it Shit? No!

It's really a tough one for me, some bits are interesting other bits are outrageously boring.

It really needs less fluff and more concrete points.
If you can stick with long-winded meandering writing style, then You'll love this one.

When I first saw this novel on the site I was intrigued.

Partly because of the premise and partly because of the high score.

Which after 300 chapters I believe to be completely undeserving.

... more>> The writing is repetitive and shallow in the story aspect and in character development.

Biggest problem the novel suffers is that it has several premises in one novel. Any one of these could have been taken as a novel premise of it own.

Jade Court Executioner Premise.

Golden immortal reincarnates with memories premise.

Protagonist repeats his life from the start premise.

But instead of picking one the Author picked all at the same time and created a character that is the complete and utter definition of a Mary Sue.

He knows every cultivation technique, he knows every secret in the world, he knows everything that will happen in the future and thanks to the killing intent he is pretty much invincible in the mortal world.

So from its early stages the novel becomes boring, there is no sense of discovery trepidation or conjecture of the future.

Pretty much pointless to read in my opinion like many of the brain dead power fantasy novels that plague this genre. <<less

i enjoyed the novel very much at the beginning even with all the repetitive info dump but it got very very ridiculous when he got his harem, all of a sudden MC become santa where he shares all his treasures/cultivation to his women nonchalantly likes he doesn't need it when a short chapters later the author stressed that things would be much easier had he still had the treasures/cultivation he gives his girls. The author tries to make MC like an all knowing/all solving character but ruining it by making him brothers with a guy who makes MC looks like an idiot compared to him. Lastly, you can never know how strong the MC actually is, in a chapter he was no match for a guy 3 rank above him and about 5-10 chapter later with no info that MC powering up or get some treasure he suddenly killed a guy with the same lvl as the previous guy so easily like it not even an effort. So dissapointed with this one, ruined by s*x. Literally.

What is this?. Zip file? You could condense this into a third of its initial chapters and it's still okay, better even. This was the major problem with this series.

A lot of redundant sentences, burying this novel's potential.

Initially I had rather high expectation about this series. I like the MC, there's some potential plot from how MC's betrayed to him back from the future to set things right. And the cultivation technique is rather unique (though little explanation).

Given the current chapter, I found :
+MC is not braindead idiot who offends a lot of people, rather he's smart
+he got many treasures, some may hate this, I personally don't mind it
-MC is antagonized for no reason
-All fighting was rather bland, since MC's not putting his life on the line (he's cold and calm, makes you think "nah, he'll be okay")
-the characters are inconsistent, put in an example, Character A is rather indifferent to MC, the next sentence she had bad impression of MC and deliberately accused him, and then turns out she had her reason to antagonize him

despite all this, this series is still okay when you need something to read when you're bored

It is not a bad book per say but a very generic one. If you read any of the review, you will find the same thing. The title is immortal Executioner but it should really not be called that. The Executioner part of the novel lack presence especially as the story progresses, sure it mention here and there but other than as a start up, it really holds little purpose. I was excited about this novel in the earlier chapter but it became a generic powering up novel. Additionally, this... more>> novel is slow, like slow slow with some many description of things that can just be skipped. Some of the stuff that needs to be explained was not.

Great concept, if you are looking for revenge strong character or powering up then this is for you. I wish that this would surround the concept of being an Executioner more. That would have been more engaging. The author use the Executioner title as a tool rather then a journey which would have been much better, <<less

Seeing the high rating and many positive reviews I give it a try but I'm totally disappointed: pretty cliché, each time when MC become a little famous or he's successful in something, some bad guys will pop out and plot armor is obvious here. For me MC isn't smart, it's as if bad guys are just all dumb.

If you like True Martial World writing, you will feel right at home. A good qaulity story being drag down by CN writers trying to reach their word count. Repeated information are being brought up constantly. This book at least on the other hand, does it only every few chapters when trying to explain things and not every chapter like in TMW.

Dropped at 508.

This is one of those series I've been waiting since forever to pick back up because the beginning was so promising. I was waiting for there to be a lot more chapters. Alas, while the main thrust of the story is enjoyable overall, but the story has a HUGE pacing problem. Progress is excruciatingly slow and the author rarely uses time skips, which means turns much of the later chapters into a chore.

I was going to keep pushing on but finally had to accept that I'm just not... more>> enjoying the story anymore. <<less

It's a good story. The MC is a reborn person who has his well-defined goals and is not afraid to use all the possible methods he knows to protect his loved ones and get rid of those who attempt against him and them. Although he has a lot of knowledge of his past life and has gained broad support from the beginning, he still doesn't behave as invincible person and thinks in detail their problems and next acts. The support characters do not have a deep interaction with the protagonist,... more>> but all have specific roles and fulfill their mission.

In short, It is not the best xianxia novel, but neither is the typical one, has a good argument and has a development neither too slow nor too fast, which makes you do not want to stop reading. 5/5 until now. <<less

One of the better stories. It has lots of item refining and pill concocting but they are not excessive to the point of boredom, and always serve the plot in some way.

Translation quality plummets after chapter 235, this is because original translator dropped the story and new one doesn't have an editor who is fluent in English yet. I'll remove this line if he manages to find one though.

"mmm, another cultivation novel with a bold genius MC probably...." was what I thought but I decided to read it anyways. Basically the MC used to be softhearted and end up getting cruelly taken advantage of, somehow he came back to the past and decided to change/climb higher. The MC is very knowledgeable, skilled and ruthless. However, there are a few points that made this more interesting than others to me:

1. There are a few other stories with MC starting over, but in this case the MC isn't overly reliant... more>> on the knowledge of the future event but the knowledge/experiences he accumulated instead. The MC is skillful and whenever he meet someone or something happens, he isn't overly reliant on trying to remember/follow what happened previously.

2. How women are portrait, which is my main peeve with lots of these LNs. There aren't paragraphs of excessive description of how beautiful the women are, they are treated just like any other side characters. The women are not just beautiful harem member that exists only to incite jealousy of stereotypical antagonists and satisfy the pe*verted MC (some incite jealousy, some don't). The MC is NOT a pe*vert NOR a thickheaded oblivious-to-love person!!! He sees a 10yr old girl, he treats her like a kid (no s*xual descriptions) and if he sees a beauty, he stares a little but treats them like any other person instead of getting pe*verted. I've dropped quite a few LNs when they started getting all lolita or spent 30% of the novel making the women mad so they can get pe*verted.

So far I'm enjoying it. If you are sick of harem/pe*verted MC or 30% of the chapter being description of how OP the MC's cultivation is, then give this a try. <<less

The strong start was fun with the idea of him getting a headstart being really unique since he got it legitimately by hearing the last wills of countless heavenly beings rather than randomly picking up some artifact, but the main weakness is the lack of direction in the story as well as some minor fudging in the details such as changing the greatness of an object over time so that it seems to grow more powerful but is then retconned by being described as unique rather than just specially refined... more>> (his main weapon) and this glaring flaw is really hard to accept when, honestly, the origin of his destined weapon is apparently normal. The story is kinda just being put together as it goes and, with the slowing pace of the story, it has gotten a bit tiresome. Nevertheless this is a great concept and fun to read for the first 100 or so chapters before you really start noticing the incongruities.

Recap: the basis of this story is that he has access to a number of unique, GODLY, techniques and treasures that have been lost to the world but he still has to grow like a normal cultivator, which takes massive amounts of time.

4 stars.

Edit: 2018-08-05

Yeah, so at around chapter 230 the author loses track of what made this story unique, the premise of a special cultivator who moves forward with exponential momentum. Now he's fallen into the pit of all other massproduced xianxia where he's wasting time on side plots that add nothing to the story with all this BS about wine all of a sudden at around 240. Now its just another PoS that drags on for nothing. Now 3 stars <<less

It's pretty eh. Feels kind of slow. I really wanted to like this story. I mean it's not bad in any way, but the only thing that caught my attention was the whole executioner thing and how his killing intent is godly. After the whole first scene... meh.

Honestly it was refreshing to see a different premise. Although yes he was sent back to the past which we have seen before but the whole idea of an executioner brings something new to the table. Unfortunately that was about the only thing it separates from other XianXias, ok not entirely because the fact the MC isn't a d*ck who pick fights with everybody and isn't always on the run cause of some ego issues, the usual troupes. I honestly kinda like that because I'm pretty sick of everyone fckin... more>> with the MC every couple chapters, it happens here too but moderately. Now what I can't stand about this novel is its cultivation, more specifically the mcs. In any xianxia/xuanhuan novel the story, characters, setting takes a huge chunk of the story, but the pillar that holds this together is the cultivation of that world. In here I'm totally lost, the author describes it in depth, like sh*t loads of details that I don't give a sh*t about. Rather I would want to have a solid foundation of what this cultivation entails and how does it actually work so I can follow along.

But nope there's alot of bullsh*t coming out and I'm just like what? How does him cultivating this make him strong in this aspect? Its just so confusing, its like he is one step ahead of me and I'm trying to follow up the whole time. The author is so into his own world he lost me in the process. Another thing, although its a personal preference so you don't have to take it to heart but he cultivates slow. I mean its 61 chapters and this guy is still half way in his first realm of cultivation. The author has a lot of justification for this too which you will see. Maybe I've been pampered by these ridiculous genius in other novels and they practically blew by their first realm, tbh its prob true. But I can't deny that it has more flare and draws me in right away, mostly because their circumstances forces them to be strong faster. But here there is not tension because even if he doesn't cultivate fast there isn't much to give a sh*t about. Honestly its not bad, even though I quit after reading 11 chapters I went back cause I literally have nothing to read. It has a good idea but executed not poorly but its missing alot of good factors that makes xianxias interesting. A looming threat which makes itself obvious in the beginning (his situation don't count cause not one knows him yet), an interesting and mysterious background which draws us in, support character either against him or with him fluffing the story. Basically the author has alot of useless bullsh*t (to me) describing sentence after sentence about cultivation which I can't understand nor give a sh*t anymore. If put that into other aspects it would be a great read. Hopefully it gets better <<less
