I just like the archaic style of the story. I don't know if it's the translation group's style or the author's.

Some characters lack spotlight or something similar. Maybe because it just has too many characters to focus. So far from what I read, I feel it has just started weaving them together. But it doesn't bother me that much. Think of it as a story of its whole realm and not just the MC (which most novels do)

If you are really planning to read it, commit yourself to read... more>> at least 75 chapters before leaving a review. Keep in mind that it is not an easy nor a shallow read. If you want those sweet, cheesy, comical and easy-to-read-in-day novels, don't pick it up.

I love this novel. It has its own charm and humor you could grasp when you understood them more the further you immerse into it.

That's all. Thanks to the group doing the translation! <<less

I don't think the translation is at fault here, the translators did a good job, but the story itself is terribly bland and depthless, it just jumps wildly around without even trying to sound cohesive, things just happen conveniently for the MC's sake and the characters feel soulless and don't have much personality going on for them. The world-building is not that bad but is the only thing good about it.
The MC keeps fat shamming the boy he possessed, calling him a pig, and judging his character even though... more>> he doesn't know him. <<less

It's unfair to read that massive description just to find out that the protagonist isn't even called Thysia.

Please take a moment to review this description before deciding to delete this review. It can drive away possible readers due to sheer confusion, since a description is a very important factor on making the decision to read a story.

Here's the actual description: "Reborn as a sword, he lived for hundreds of years, and then he occupied the body of a 15-year-old prince."

Although it was really interesting, anyone with a brain would be able to spot the major starting plothole, and reading while constantly thinking that is so freaking aggrevating. The character pace / development is also not the best, though better than many other bad novels.

About why I love this novel:

1. The friggin language. This novel made me look at other novels in scorn with the archaic speech that makes me cannot even leave one sentence unread. When I read this at first I could really believe if they said that they made it in a very early year. It really tastes like a legendary tale with the flow swimming through your brain.

2. They have no interference from god in this novel - until this far. As writing is human culture, the use of poems... more>> is fresh and exceptional - even when poem originated to tell about god. It induces the heartwarming scene and luxurious feels of art and good goosebumps every time it read.

3. A gracious plot with enough thrill, character development and warm relationship with every other char, a bit of humour splashing here and there - just enough to melt the climax, believable kinda story I could deeply relate to.

a splendid choice for me and my picky brain. <<less

While this novel remains my favourite, it still has some weak points and I still carry some gripes over it.

Firstly, it has a rather cliché premise. The soul of a legendary sword possessing the body of his master's useless descendant.

Secondly, the main character does have some plot armour, but I'm willing to let those go as they are implemented sparingly.

Thirdly, the translation is left unfinished and is absolutely atrocious in the first ~20 chapters. However, considering the nature and story of the novel, it becomes absolutely phenomenal after.

Spoiler

Finally, this is more of a personal gripe but the story did not expound more on Ophelia's backstory and why she chose to sacrifice her fingers and subsequently her life when they had been untouched for the last 400 years.

[collapse]

However, the world building is great and the storytelling is so magnificent that it manages to evoke emotion out of the reader in its many intense, compelling and significant moments, something that no other novel that I've read has ever done for me. Thus, I feel like this web novel would make for the greatest anime adaptation.

In addition, the main character just feels so human in his actions,
Spoiler

just like how in his rage, he beheads the nobles who failed to send support to fight the warlord, even while in abysmal condition.

[collapse]
This results in the most real feeling main character I've seen in an action novel as he doesn't feel like a character who follows his unrealistic ideals.

All in all, this novels shines so much that it's weak points are entirely negated. 10/10

Apologies for the bad formatting, this is my first review. <<less

This is a really good read I like the personality of the MC, how the plot moves and the harem all of it, but I'm not just that good with tragedy making love a side character then seeing them die is just heart breaking, what makes me drop this is when the queen died I love her character she is the only one that genuinely love the MC from the start and that was beautiful.

However she died it was heart breaking for me that I have no energy to read anymore each chapter I was hoping that the MC will come to save the day but he never came, the uncle's was still a bit okay even if the king died since they was a bit mean to the MC from the start but the queen was just beeing a great mother and wife, its just sad and I don't think I can manage to read this again

If you're interested in redemption stories, this is a good read. The original was not 'evil' per se. He is more of a neglected kid that got used as a scapegoat by the actual 'villains' due to his lower-than-average intelligence. It resulted in him turning into a highly toxic person with an attention-seeking attitude towards life.

I enjoyed the story a lot until the death of one of the characters. Then it just lost its magic, and I ended up dropping it.

Typical isekai novel about reincarnating into a "tr*sh" noble.
No Harem, MC is strong, not slice of life.

Good:

It has a unique take on abilities with the Poems and Chants and I like the whole mana heart vs. mana chain debacle.

... more>> Good story progression, story is neither slow nor too fast in its pacing. The goals are clear and well structured, you know when the next arc starts and ends.

Has a good "underestimating the MC" aspect which I personally always enjoy.

Bad:

Terrible translation, riddled with grammatical and spelling errors.

The author doesn't really explain the abilities of the MC really well

Alot of loopholes and lack of explanation of why things happen and why the MC does what he does. This is kind of hard to explain, you'll get what I mean when you read it. But this part is what put me off the most about the novel. I ended up asking myself alot "Wait... did I miss something?", then trying to find out if I missed/misread something, only to find out that I did not.

No really any meaningful relationships formed nor gradually developed over time. There is some i.e. characters getting stronger, but nothing really special.

I've seen some reviews and I see some people saying "RELAAAX HE USED TO BE A SWORDDD" but I don't think that should be an excuse for poor and lazy writing.

TLDR: Its alright, read this if you just wanna pass time but don't expect anything and you won't be let down. <<less

To be honest I started reading this novel cause I wanted a world building without a harem before I knew it I was 100 chapters in and am like, " I've got to know what happens next"; the story is cliché, hero becomes tr*sh, tr*sh becomes hero and looks badass while doing it hower, I like the MC in this one, he has his moments, some made me cry more than I care to admit but I like that as badass as he is, the author makes him work... more>> for it.

Why was I binge reading it for 3 days straight, the narration, atleast to me that's what drew me in, I just wanted to skimp through 5 or 10 chapters and see if it works for me but damn! By the time I noticed I had gotten duped I was 100 chapters in and I couldn't stop, kind of reminds in malicious di family's daughter, it had the same effect, anyway if you're looking for something to get lost into then its a good read. <<less

I like the character development and the other side characters are not too dependent on MC. I'm crying all night and get excited during the fights haha

It's not a harem. Thank god. And the girls are fcking strong in their own way and not suddenly love struck or cliche brainded girls in other novels.

Spoiler

Adelia is my fav character

I had originally dropped this novel because somewhere around chapter 40 the translator just gave up and it was impossible to read. A couple of months later I came back and Active had a new team translating it, even fixing the old chapters. So if that put you off like it did me, don’t be scared to give it another shot.

I’m enjoying the story. It’s got a good flow but nothing really amazing about it. Fine if you want to just relax and enjoy a competent fantasy story.

I caught up with TCF so I read this to fill the void (both stories are somehow similar, yet has their different and unique and strong points). Personally, the beginning was so-so. I like the writing style and the use of archaic words, and the story was right-up my alley (MC being recognized by the people and no harem). Even though I like the theme, I was just reading it because I have nothing else to read, but I changed my mind once I got further and further immersed in... more>> the story. I got totally hooked in the story when the MC went to the north.

Anyway, what I like about this novel are:

  • The use of poem/songs as a source of power. This was the first time I came across something like this, it felt new and refreshing. The poem and songs were wonderful. Also, the way the author used them in the right moment creates a powerful scene, I got goosebumps, which rarely happens to me when reading Korean novels (I was just often amazed for their big brain moments, but no goosebumps).
    Spoiler

I was even imagining the soldiers and people singing 'Do you hear the people sing?', from Les Miserables, when they're gonna war with the Empire. Lol.

    [collapse]
  • Lovable characters *major spoilers*
    Spoiler

that will bring you to tears.

    [collapse]
  • Loyal, trust-worthy comrades, and great camaraderie
  • Sick and amazing fight scenes
  • Character developments.
    Spoiler

The MC tasted defeats, and every time, he learns from his mistakes and makes sure that he will correct them or act in a way that will prevent for something like that to happen again.

    [collapse]
  • Some comedy
  • There's no harem but the way the story's going, the author seemed to be hinting that there might be a little romance. I'm here for the camaraderie and action, but the quantity of romance is bearable (and there are many things going on that they were buried in the back of my mind). Anyway, I don't dislike it.
There were some loopholes in the plot, but I don't really noticed them because I was so immersed in the story and excited for what will come.

For the people who's contemplating of dropping this after reading a few chapters, I encouraged you to give this novel a chance, because nothing really happens at that point, yet. I might be biased with my review because this is one of my favorites (hehe), but I sincerely think that this novel is worth your time. I pour an hour and half of my time writing this review, so I hope this will be helpful. <<less

I love this novel for plenty of reasons. First of all, this is not a perfect book so if you are the type that digs into Gary Stu mls than this story is obviously not for you.

Second, i'd say that there isn't a single character that is completely likeable or dislikeable. MC is not perfect, commits mistakes and he's very arrogant due to the fact he was a sentient sword and possesses a lot of knowledge, however its this same inability to gauge the situation and relying too much on... more>> what he knows that is somewhat his downfall.

His plans not always work and the antagonists aren't simply just paper characters just there as device to make him cool. They have their own motivations and reasons why they are attempting to achieve their goals, thus making the novel somewhat upredictable in a sense.

Last, what I enjoyed the most so far is that usually in this kind of novels, a OP ML never shows any signs of growth. (For those who might say that ML isn't Op, man this guy was a sentient sword and his knowledge and experience to me qualifies as a op protag) But the protagonist is different.

He starts off as an inhumane, arrogant sword with sociopath tendencies with the only goal of getting strong, but later he starts to subtly gain emotions and in my perspective even care about the people who follow him.

So this isn't just purely a journey of a op protag get strong and destroy everyone, but a sword who learns to be human. <<less

Although it's a typical ancestor to present time plot it's actually different from others. It did look like that the MC is looking down on the Mana rings but there's a valid reason for it. As the stories progresses the MC will realized the advantages and disadvantages of Mana heart and Rings.... more>>
Spoiler

Mana hearts are for talented people who can make their own poetry while Mana rings are for non-talented but hard working. Basically a non talented person can achieve higher in mana ring than mana heart will with hard work while a talented person who chose mana ring will have their potential limited despite working hard

[collapse]

What I like:

The poetry as the source of power. It's like the 'stories' in ORV but different at the same time. It's exciting everytime the poetry resonates with people. It also has grades. That with activating blood oaths to awaken artifacts.

There others who haven't forgotten the lost myths.

The setting of past and present fusing? I think?

What I don't like:

other princes are just fillers that doesn't even have a name.

not enough screen time for the forgotten blood lions

Spoiler

The ultimate evil is actually the emperor. I wanted for the ultimate battle be with demonic races or something.

[collapse]

Spoiler

The MC is actually the creator of muhunshi and mana heart.

[collapse]

Anyway the MCs arrogance is founded because he used the be a sword who created many heroes of the past.
Spoiler

The original Adrian is also someone who has a tragic story and not all full of lust and greed but someone who was used and wants to be recognized. Him stealing the sword is him wanting to mend his mistakes but he was actually just been used. While I don't approve of his actions I think he's a pitiful soul who didn't experience parental love, got used, ruined reputation and got broken from all the pressure

I would read a lot of these Korean web novels but eventually, after I reach the 100 chapters or more mark I would lose interest and forget about it eventually, but this is the one novel that I have re-read multiple times even though it is not fully translated and mostly has poor or inaccurate translation (still readable) because I heard that the Korean translation for this particular novel is harder than most because it has more archaic wordings (I think).

The starting might not be good but trust me this... more>> one is amazing as long as you get through that, it is a story about a sword that possesses the body of the first prince Adrian Leonberger and we get to see the sword live out its love for fighting, wars, character development that shows the funny and emotional side as well as what the sword truly was once upon a time. One of the most important parts of this novel for me was the kingdom-building and gathering of loyal subordinates and their character development as well as the way the protagonist shows the dignity of a king all through poetry and in no other story have I seen a powerful MC reincarnate and go through so much character development.

The only other novel I fully completed was I came back and conquered it all. Now I am reading Damn Reincarnation (I am BASED). <<less

If only it wasnt for that translation then I would be able to catch up but last few chapters got translation that will melt your brain

The overall plot of this novel is pretty average, just another reincarnation of powerful individual into tr*sh.

Good points
First time I see old powerful reincarnated MC experiencing character growth, especially this much
No romance for now (tho only 60 chapters remain to tl for it to be complete so prolly only mariage mentioned in final chapter might be)
Good fights
Well executed relationship of... more>> reincarnated individual and body he takes

Cons
Translation
Plot is basic cliche that has been recycled for years <<less

I never know what to write at the time of review, but I can say this is one of the best novels i've read in the last years. Story wise, it starts kinda slow but it gets really dinamic not too many chapters in, so deal with it. MC is good, secodnary characters are not rocks and reacts to the world, so they will be moving along. Ending wise will be like a 6/10 cause I read it mtl and lost like half of my non native english trying to... more>> understand it. Nonetheless is a relly good story that will be worth ur time. <<less
