ML is really a scum man!!!!!!

If only ML is not the prince/ future emperor, author will ship FMC with a better candidate, right?!!!!

... more>> What ML have done to the innocent FMC is unjustifiable!!!!! He is so childish and selfish and unreasonable!

He deserved so heavy punishments and greeted teeth!!!!

Hate hate the storyyyy plot!!!!!!

*The author's writing's frame and flow is so good, flawless, and beautiful, but the accusations the author give for the FMC is unfairrr!!!! Because of this I hate hate this story!!!!!! *Imagine if it's real, how painful the FMC is*

Even how happy the novel's endings is, the broken glasses is still broken! <<less

Aww, I forgot to leave a rating... I can't seem to add it now that I posted it. It gets zero stars. That's what it deserves. This story made me love it and then betrayed me.

The main issue with this story is that it starts off with the protagonist, Tia, being executed by her husband (whom I shall call the prince from now on), and ends with her marrying him.

Honestly, that description doesn't properly explain things though, since this is a common situation. However, the execution of this plot is... more>> the worst I've ever read. The main reason is that Prince never had a good reason to kill her (or r*pe her, or to cause her a miscarriage, or generally have her suffer for a few years in a horrible marriage she was pushed into with him) in the first place, and I don't really have a good reason for her to be much nicer to her in the main timeline, except that he needs to do so in order for them to become a the official main pairing of the story. This is made worse due to the fact that the story pushed hard the idea that Tia really was trying to not marry him.

They showed him in a negative light throughout the entire first book. We almost never saw him, and every time we did he was bothering Tia, with only the barest sprinkles of kindness. Honestly, I didn't even think he was being kind during those instances, because he was doing his stuff in a manipulative way. We had no insight into his thinking at all. The first time he actually did a thing that I knew was kind was right at the end of the book, when he decided to leave her alone.

I have nothing but disdain for the prince. I hate, hate, hate him, and the fact that he ended up with Tia ruins the story for me. This novel has not been translated but spoilers abound. If you wish to read the spoilers, without my bias. Here is the link.

Here is my summary of the reasons as to why Tia was executed, and why they are terrible.

Lets go over the reasons why Prince hated Tia in the first timeline, and why he loves her in the second.
-Prince's feelings seem to be his, and not influenced by the god of this world. I had assumed the mind control aspect would come up since Tia was apparently under that influence. Looks like that was a plot point that was quietly abandoned.
-Prince wasn't loved as a kid, everyone loves Tia (for now, after marriage, public opinion flips). Prince hates her because of this. This is confirmed. Boo hoo, prince, suck it up. When Tia is the one being hated later on, she doesn't whine about it like you are doing.
-Prince also hates Tia because she doesn't express emotions, and this is something I have an issue with, because there is a clear image of her when she was happy with the king, while the prince loomed in a creepy way. The fact is that the story already stated that her lack of visible emotions are directly tied to the prince being cold to her. He pulled away FIRST. Yet, apparently, after she found herself able to be happy again, seeing her with other people having fun caused him to love her? I don't buy it. That doesn't line up with what I've seen, and I question the idea that all he needs is to see some girl having fun and he'll just fall in love with her.
-Prince hates Tia because he was lied to, mainly by Duke "Jenna/Zena" (I have no idea who that is but he is apparently the primary villain for the story, not isekai girl). He was told that she wanted to become queen to gain more personal power, but in this timeline she tried to get out of it, so that means she is worth loving?. No, no, no. She was prophesied to become queen since she was a baby. She had no choice in the matter, she did it because she had to, just like HE had to, or so I assume he had to. If he really felt like he didn't want to marry her, it seems like he had options, given recent chapters talking about how other women are throwing themselves at him. It's garbage. The idea of Tia trying to avoid this fate is really almost unthinkable, and it really should have been respected by everyone, and I can't understand all the hatred for her simply doing what she was duty bound to do.
-Prince hates Tia because of the incident with her mother. I have been waiting for this. Turns out, it was ANOTHER assassination (god damn, there are a lot of these) and the mother died protecting Tia, not the prince. Whaaaaaa? He thought the mom liked him best, but turns out she decided to, poorly, defend the small child, and not the boy that can actually fight back. Given that prince was good enough to fight off the assassins, maybe he should man up and realize that he's the one supposed to be protecting the women instead? Just a thought.

Okay, that brings us up to the 1st timeline marriage.
-Apperently, prince secretly realized that Tia loved him at some point during the marriage. Clearly, he never articulated this to Tia though, so they continued in a cold, loveless marriage.
-Isekai girl shows up, and now things start going to hell. This seems the trigger point where everyone decided that Tia is no good anymore. Why though? She was in charge, she was the one doing all the work for everyone. Surely people would know that she is doing the work, Even the commoners have had time under her rule know her laws help. Plus, isekai girl has jack all knowledge of proper manners for a queen. Surely the other nobles would not like her. Commoners, on the other hand, I feel could be s**ked into isekai girl, since she is far more personable than Tia was, but their opinions don't seem to be of much importance for the story, as far as I can tell. I don't think there is any reason for this massive a change in opinion against Tia.
-The reason he loves ikesai girl is because she said she loved him, and he is, apparently, super gullible to that due to no one saying those sorts of words to him. Apperently the actions Tia took that were winning him over just a little while ago are forgotten. I have to question this, because Tia has never said she loved him either, in either timeline. So why, again, is he in love with her this time around? Also, am I supposed to believe that with all these manipulative women around him that said the same thing, so why was it so damn effective coming from isekai girl? This doesn't hold up to me.
-Prince is now being poisoned, somehow, with drugs that alter his behavior, however, because he's always been an asshat, no one noticed that he was acting abnormally, I guess. How the hell is he being poisoned anyway? Let me get this straight. This royal family, that is so paranoid about poison that they can't even let people know what foods they like, is someone just gulping down poison that makes him crazy? BULLLLLL SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP.
-On top of the drugs, he also hears about how Tia is a bad person, which, frankly, shouldn't be new at all. As far as I can tell, he's always being told this sort of stuff (either people love her too much, or the opposite). However, now he hears that she also wants to assasinate isekai girl.
-Apperently in the book, just before the r*pe scene, he's making an effort to get her to be honest with him, but she basically thinks "I'm scared of you, I cannot be honest with you" and tells him "you won't believe me anyway" and Ruve goes "So you're basically admitting all the rumors about you are true." These bits are put in quotes, but they don't show up in the comic. As far as I can tell, there isn't a single conversation in the comic prologue where there is a double misunderstanding, that would be revealed later on in the story. Tia isn't really working under any false impressions, and wrong opinions about her seem to be entirely due to malice, not anything she's said or done in particular (other than not being emotional enough).
Anyway, because of all this, and NOT because of the mean way she had just treated isekai girl, he decides to r*pe her. I'm actually shocked by how little a part Isekai girl plays in this. I had assume that she was personally setting things up to make Tia look in a bad light but, as far as I can tell from spoilers, other than her pretending to love prince, she's been pretty straightforward in her dealings with Tia and Prince otherwise. A lot of people were trying to poison their relationship but I don't see anything in these spoilers that Isekai girl was one of them.
-The prince causes the miscarriage because of the drugs, and NOT because of him caring more about isekai girl at that moment when she sees him and Tia together. Such convenient drugs that can be used to blame for everything bad he did while also keeping him lucid enough to still care after he caused the issue.
-No reason given for prince to avoid seeing her for X amount of time while Tia recovered, even though we are supposed to believe he was worried about her at the time and feeling guilty over causing the miscarriage..
- Prince gets pissed off when he hears about Tia laughing about her miscarriage. This is horribly portrayed in the comic. She went "days or weeks" alone, keeping her emotions bottled in, and only laughed the day that she found out that isekai girl was pregnant (also because she found out that Prince was making a much bigger deal about this baby then he did hers). Plus, her father showed up right at that point and he decided right then that he would do something about his daughter. So the timing just does not work out.
-Even more confusing was that an assassination attempt was done around this time by the villian on isekai girl, and villain blamed Tia. ARE THERE NOT GUARDS IN THIS WORLD? So many assassinations.
-This entire section is a total mess, even the spoiler says so, but, whatever, prince is mad at Tia for apparently being glad her baby miscarried, and lied about killing her father to teach her a lesson. Unfortunately, Tia was also given the same drugs as the prince (when???), so she tried to kill him. Can't she just have snapped? IF she was really being driven crazy by drugs, there is no possible way she would have stopped after doing a single stab wound. Not after everything she went through. These drugs are a really hamfised plot device to make everyone blameless.
-Prince actually didn't want to execute her, but was outvoted, and so is killed without knowing her father was actually alive, because they decided to not let him near her at all before the execution?
-The last thing Tia sees is the prince before dying, and she wonders why he looks so concerned for her, which is a clever hint that he actually didn't want to kill her. No, wait, when I look back, he looked remarkably unconcerned and smug that she was about to die. There is NO foreshadowing in this, none.

-After Tia dies, things go downhill Prince regrets his actions, now that things are going to shit, and notices that even if isekai girl says she loves him she never really showed her love like Tia did. Such as by finding out his favourite foods AFTER marriage (does this mean your own wife can't even be told what foods you like??? She really had to figure it out herself? Yet, all this paranoia helps not at all vs being poisoned, so what was the point of it. For added pointless drama? Got it). He then starts comparing her to Tia, and calling her useless. It was basically as another person said, he only knew how good he had it until all the support Tia gave him was no longer there. WAY too late. I can see why previous spoilers stated that he only cared about Tia due to how incompetent isekai girl is. He NEVER appreciated the work she did, never cared to make sure isekai girl learned her role, and then, as soon as Tia died, he starts b*tching about how she's not as good as Tia. Kinda like how everyone said how HE wasn't as good as Tia back in the day. Remember how that bothered you Prince? Why are you doing the same thing to her now? How the hell did he forget how much work Tia did for the kingdom anyway? Useless Prince.
-Prince and isekai girl die from the villain's plot that finally finished. Isekai girl hated how she was tr*shed by everyone, and decided to come back and be a proper empress and get revenge on everyone that wronged her. As far as I can tell, she was an absolute victim during the first timeline, and I don't fault her wanting to get back at those that wronged her.

-Back to second timeline. The most critical thing to note about this one is, as far as spoilers go, there are NO DRUGS USED ON ANYONE. Seems extremely odd to not have this happen, given that drugs were to blame for literally every bad thing someone did after isekai girl appeared, yet now there is no drugs making people crazy. This again makes the drugs seem like a terrible plot point to justify bad actions and to make Prince blameless, so that it's okay that he marries Tia.
-Prince loves Tia, doesn't even look at isekai girl. Plots happen, Prince and Tia end up married Since Tia stolen the prince's heart away and none of isekai girl's plans worked out. She eventually gave up her powers in order to save Tia's life at the end. This wasn't enough to do much more than to secretly let her be banished, instead of killed.
-Apperently, Tia is also a child of god, so the prophasy DOES also refer to her (so why did that god say the opposite when she asked?), so she was destined to marry the prince after all, and isekai girl was just a complete failure that god decided to abandon, so she goes to another country and lives out her life as a peasant girl.

That's about everything. Oh, and Tia's dad dies at some point. It's not mentioned in the spoilers, but I read the last chapter of the story and he was mentioned there. Thanks, dear author, for killing my favourite male character...

I can see the author tried really, REALLY, hard here to justify the prince, but the beginning was just too much. It put prince in a horrific light and later revelations come across as a slapdash bunch of retcons rather than a carefully plotted story. I still hate him. Prince is garbage, his love for Tia doesn't make a ton of sense to me. It's just a badly done story. <<less

I started reading the webtoon on Tachiyomi two days ago, I thought everything was gonna happen like everyone thought it was (dump the rapist guy, do her own thing and end up with a better guy or just be on her own) but then I started to read what the people who were translating said that she ends up with the rapist guy and I think dies? From what I read about the other reviews

But I cannot believe I wasted my TIME reading this story.

This novel can get the Worst ML. You can understand this as I only signed up just to ramble over the climax we got.

Points why ML is WORST.

* He is mentally SICK bcz he literally hate/ jealous over MC just bcz her mother LOVED HER more than HIM nd tried to save a 5 year old child who she got after 7 YEARS of prayers.

* He is a week ear (slang in our country language) guy which means he literally believed everything duke jenna fed him nd never tried... more>> to cross check or ask the his OWN FIANCEE.

* ML is WORST EMPEROR (point to be noted, a Ruler who doesn't has his OWN JUDGEMENT nd feeds others lies is DOOMED to die.

* This guy is Selfish as hell in Both Lives.

- In 1st life he chose jiun over MC cz she was a GOOD PAWN who doesn't has any power nd doll like empress rather smart like MC. He chose her just so nobody can compare him to ANY1 (you little shit). He knew she couldn't do anything thus forced MC to bcm his concubine.

(I mean how can an emperor not knows who is doing all hard work in place of empress while that s*upid taking free ride? Knowing all that poor MC doing everything selflessly wouldn't anyone know that she was perfect and his judgment was wrong all along?)

* This sh*t is worst than an animal who not only r*ped her but when she got pregnant nd he knew Jiun will going to share her bed with him (in Jiun pov it's stated that after that party she was going to accept him) he literally left her alone. That sh*t also didn't bring any joy to her while always THINKING IN HIS SHITTY MIND SHE IS COLD ND POWER HUNGRY, couldn't a sane person know she actually didn't do anything wrong but he himself doing wrong to her and it's injustice. How can that sh*t call himself a good emperor?

* ML is an shitty insect. How can that sh*t not only made her a labor while pregnant and not even give her a chance to dine with her. But after causing miscarriage nither he asked her forgiveness but AGAIN MADE HER DO ALL PALACE WORK?

(sh*t minded ppl are claiming OHH DUKE JENNA TOLD HIM SHE LAUGHED AFTER KNOWING SHE MISCARRIAGE? Again week ear sh*t or SELFISH sh*t WHO WANTED TO PUT BLAME ON HER?)

* Cold blooded freak - Well knowing the state of MC's mind.. He himself pushed her to attack him after humiliate and misinform her of his father's death. His let her die. (He literally must have thought that btr she dies than leave the castle as her ABSOLUTE LABOR. It's not in my mind but he ACTUALLY THOUGHT in his POV when he was ABOUT the Stop execution that " Yes I STILL HAVE THIS WOMAN (JIUN).

*ML get backfired - While already KNOWING she (Jiun) is not from this world nd couldn't attempt same level as MC (he KNEW all work done by MC) he married nd after executed MC find JIUN not PERFECT TO BE AN EMPRESS? (Even comparing her to MC in front of her? What kind of sh*t are you?)

* His despair wasn't belong to MC at all bcz IF IN ANY CASE JIUN COULD DO A BATTER JOB HE WOULD NOT REMEMBER MC AT ALL. This is a WORST fact bcz B4 this he never thought of her but only when he got LABOR WORK TO DO. He nither loved MC nor JIUN bcz he only USED THEM according to his please. (He even thought of discarding Jiun nd his child in belly. Even for a second he THOUGHT ABOUT IT.) How could any sane mind think of killing his own child? (Keep in mind he killed his child to MC nd put blame on her).

People are saying he LOVED MC in previous life but what kind of love is this which couldn't sprout when his loved one got pregnant after r*pe? Or what kind of love is that when imp**gnate her he couldn't meet her ONCE bcz his LOVELY WIFE told him she would ACCEPT HIM (ON BED). Only met her once nd caused her Miscarriage? Not being guilty at all? Even when sm1 is feeding him that she laughed, will Truth turn False that HE CAUSED HER MISCARRIAGE but she didn't do anything? What kind of love is this that wouldn't make her free (he conspired against her nd made her attack him?) Is this love while your loved one is DIEING nd you ACTUALLY THINKS that it's BATTER TO HAVE ANOTHER WOMAN AT LEAST? (You psycho shitty fallow). Nd last not least not even caring a Wife who is pregnant nd not telling her anything while going? He KNEW that he was being Poisoned but didn't care about her (Jiun) safety nd went to save his ASS. He is really worse than shit.

*In 2nd life.

He was exactly same just MC don't wanted to be his labor so he knew Jiun couldn't do batter than MC. Also he was OBSESSED with her.

- again a failed Emperor who couldn't stop the poisoning insident nither for MC nor for himself. He is shit.

Best (could) climax for this story is Carsen being married to MC nd as he himself was AS sh*t AS HIS FATHER WHO SOLD HIS LOVE OVER POWER (MC'S MOTHER) without caring about his Sister. Should remain an incompetent Emperor. <<less

I'm here to defend this novel's honor. Lots of people are upset by the ml, and to those people I have to ask, have you actually read the novel? Because if you did, you would've known that the plot reached a logical conclusion with the fl's choice.

So many people are claiming that the author ignores the fl's trauma and forces her to fall in love with the abusive ML again, but that's completely not the truth. In fact, if the FL had ignored her trauma, the story would've ended in... more>> less than 100 chapters, and the main plot conflict wouldn't have happened. The ml's character changes very early in the novel, and the FL recognizes that he's a different person, but she doesn't even entertain the thought of being with him again until 2/3rds through the novel, then the romance doesn't become official until 10 chapters or so before the epilogue. Keep in mind that this is a romance novel, a romance novel where the romance doesn't start until the main story is almost over.

The author treats her trauma very seriously, the FL only heals after receiving lots and lots of love, and even then she still has occasional ptsd episodes.

The ML never forces the FL to be with him, he's always patient with her and respects her. He shows his sincere love for her all the time, but he never forces it on her. He recognizes that something is blocking her from returning his love, and gives her tons of space to heal, only requesting that she not completely cut him off, which she tries to do several times. Read this novel knowing that at any point, the acting emperor could've just ordered the FL to be the empress and solve a lot of their problems, but they always respect her will. <<less

Just my opinion that nobody is obliged to give an f about. Also spoilers alert.

First of all I don't understand people hating on BB (boyblue). Yes he's a SOB who screwed her over in her past lifetime. And she's a pathetic loser who let him. But it's a fckng different lifetime where people except jieun have no fckng clue what she's on, geez. If a second Life allows for aristia to make different, wiser/dumber choices this time around, then doesn't that apply for everyone else living in the present lifetime?... more>> Is she supposed to live out her second chance at life for the sole purpose of taking revenge, and punish everyone who directly and indirectly hurt her including her own father, for things they aren't doing now? Like jieun tried to do? I know alot of isekai novels start off from this angle but it doesn't have to be that way lol creative writing is what it is because authors practice their artistic license to break free from the mold ok?

Also what's this outrage over BB raping her in past life? Even if that were true, she herself didn't put up that much of a fight, if anything instead of struggling free she had the time to leisurely think of how she could one-up jieun and use her own baby as a bargaining chip to gain his affections.. she wasn't even sad for losing the baby, had that baby actually lived it would have suffered the most not receiving the love it deserved from either parent. That's not to say I'm glad she miscarried, my point is their bout of forced s*x was consensual in the end since she had her own dubious motives for letting him have his way with her. Her token self-respect amounted to asserting her right to undress herself lol so yeah I'm not impressed.

Anyway I am not for or against BB, frankly I don't care about him, or the other veggy boys. As far as I'm concerned this novel was supposed to be about the female lead's growth and character development in the face of adversity. So I couldn't care less how it ends or who she ends up with as long as she comes into her own. More than who deserves to suffer and shit, I wanted to see how she pursues her own happiness and what that means for her. But what a huge let down.

Halfway into the novel, Aristia is still a hot mess. First she wants nothing to do with crown prince. She runs herself ragged to avoid being entangled with him. But then she's sticking her face in dirty politics and ends up being used and discarded. She's butthurt for getting disaqualified from the running to become empress, even though it works out in her favor cos isn't that what she wanted all along? So what's the problem Aristia?
Is it that you're inconclusively infertile? Your feminine pride is wounded cos they think you can't bear a child? Even though it's your fault for being admittedly s*upid and not using the silver cup the emperor gave you? No one cares about your feelings in the face of what the empire needs to keep ruling which is a viable incubator for the successor. Suck it the fck up.

She contradicts herself at every turn and her inner debates are the absolute worst.
Nvm passing up on the arguably less toxic veggy boys but for her to question who she could possibly be pinning her hopes on, the past or the present BB, what? Why even? Is that really something worth contemplating? Old model BB jerk1000 versus decent realtime BB-S 2.0 w/ irrefutably better specs.. hmm which BB version do I want in this second Life that I so very desperately want to end up differently than the last? For someone who's constantly conscious of time ticking, she sure has alot to waste on useless monologues.

Author hard-sells the impression that Tia is a smart girl because half the time shes inside her head "thinking" about something but what she's actually deriving we never know, it's just empty redundant questions that are either rhetorical or don't make sense at all... what you actually get is a dimwit living in a trance oblivious to what's going on around her, reeling at every unexpected thing thrown her way... the only thing she can't stress enough is how heartbroken she is over having to reject BB, she bites her lips raw, sighs, stares at the moonlight and gets the fck over it in the next minute. Only to agonize about it right when there are other people around wasting their precious time cos she's not paying attention. She's constantly surprised that she has any lingering affection left for BB after all that masochistic lipbiting, forever berating herself because she can't possibly love him, oh no! Vita forbid. Get the fck over yourself Tia! What a useless excuse for a female lead, if not for supporting characters like Dad, Emperor, veggy boys Carsein & Allendis, Tertius-Secundus, your little eminence Sextus, and let's not forget Jieun and her band of nobles, the plot does not progress beyond Tia's neverending cycle of self-pity, wavering resolve and blaming fate for her dumb actions. Her pioneer middle name's meaning is lost on her and counts for nothing at all.

Don't even get me started on the repetitive and irrelevant waste of words on details that contribute nothing to the actual meat of the story and convenient resolutions to s*upid problems that don't make any sense like her period/lack thereof translating to infertility then incidental bloodtest later oops it's not!

Lastly why in the world is she at her last gasp in the arms of her majesty when her only family who loves her just as much if not the most, as in her dad! is right there?! It's like a last ditch effort to promote romance in the most inappropriate cringey setting. I'm not mad at BB ok he's madly in love with her in this lifetime I get it but are you telling me papabear was just awkwardly looking on as his precious daughter was dying? There shouldve been some mention at least of him running off to get the high priest...I don't know man, somehow dad feels absent/lacking initiative at the most crucial moments just to give way for BB to take center stage, which isnt fair since he has just as much to lose as BB if Tia died ok? In fact BB has no business pursuing his own personal selfish interests over that of the empire. What, is he gonna abdicate the throne for her?! I don't think so.

Well it all worked out smoothly in the end somehow, everybody happy or at least they get over themselves, that's just great. Took Allendis like 1/3 of the novel and a dedicated 20 chapters moaning bout his lady, Carsein lasted bout 2/3 of the way before he too was conveniently fading out of the picture, Jieun loses her mojo but manages to keep her head on, and Dad is alive which is frankly all that matters.

So why did I stick it out until the end?I could have quit while I was ahead and just dropped it. I don't know lol. Just read at your own risk. Bye <<less

Making an account just to rate this, don't waste your time on this novel, you won't get what you're looking for. If you want a novel that actually follows through on its promises, try the Remarried Empress instead, which is basically an improved version of this novel. ML is garbage and sucks at being a male lead, even in his second life.

Spoiler

This mf, even when he knew all the trauma that FL had gone through and that she would inevitably have her PTSD triggered if she were to stay with him, had the audacity to constantly beg and guilt-trip her into staying with him, going " Oh poor me, don't you know how much I have to suffer because you won't choose me? This is so hard on me, and I know you were traumatized and all that, but please stay with me but I'll totally respect whatever choice you make because you totally trust me, I'll just be very sad and heartbroken that you didn't want to give me a second chance." Even when FL says she wants to break it off with him over and over again, he keeps begging her to think twice, and in the end even f*cking put it off so they were still engaged, and when she confronts him about it, goes " Uwu I was just so sad at the thought of us no longer being together I couldn't go through I'm sowwy :c" And also decided to just f*cking kiss her out of nowhere, once again aware he had traumatized her before.

First part was good, the potential love interests are great, MC is great, endgame? Absolutely horrible, it pretty much just threw all the good stuff from the first part. So don't read this unless you're a masochist that wants to be severely dissappointed

I can't keep silent any longer.

At first, I only read the manhwa so like most people, I was pretty upset after finding out Tia chose Ruve in the second timeline (I don't need the spoiler tag right? Since most people already know this). However, because this story is so good, I started reading the novel and now I have zero misgivings as to why Tia chose Ruve in the second timeline.

I just want to point out two things in this review that were pivotal for me in accepting Ruve. If... more>> you're kind enough to read my review, I hope for those who haven't, please read the entire novel (including POVs of all characters - Ruve, Jieun, Carsien, Allen) as well, and then decide if you still can't forgive the author for deciding on Ruve as the ML. Then I hope, at the very least, that you'll be able to understand his position a little bit as to why he acted the way he did in the first timeline.

Spoiler

Pivotal Item #1 - Knight's Oath

In the novel's spoiler forum, u/Eodez pointed out a very important theme that occurred throughout the novel that hit the nail for me:

https://forum. novelupdates. com/threads/the-abandoned-empress.43439/page-39#post-5414502

I'll just paraphrase what was said because the excerpt is long but please do give it a read because I will not do it justice. The knight's oath is a common theme that occurred throughout the novel, which pledges everlasting love. After suffering in the first timeline, Tia vowed to never love Ruve again, but it looked like she also lost the hope to love anyone romantically for that matter. The knight's oath seems like something that she could only desire but never achieve. How important this oath is to Tia is reinforced when she wistfully witnessed Carsein's brother proposing to Freincia. Throughout the novel, all 3 potentials have pledged this oath to Tia. Allen did it with deceptive intentions, Carsein did it to mimic his brother, but Ruve was the only one who did it sincerely and purely out of his love for Tia. I think it's also worthy to note when Ruve pledged it to her. He's been professing his love for her from early on, but he pledged this vow to her just before their wedding, which I think holds great meaning in the sense that Ruve truly understands Tia and waited for her to accept him before he unleashed something so heavy.

Pivotal Item #2

In the manhwa, Tia recalls that before Jieun came, Ruve was sometimes hostile to her but there were occasional times when his expressions softened. The 'before Jieun came' part is crucial. This means that Ruve wasn't super hateful towards Tia until Jieun came. It's already established that the poison fed to Ruve by the pos duke is what caused his explosive behaviour and mental instability. So if Ruve became more hateful towards Tia and Tia pinpoints Jieun's appearance as the change in Ruve's behaviour...!!!! It is not because Ruve started to love Jieun which caused him to be more hostile to Tia, it is because that pos duke started poisoning Ruve right after Jieun appeared. The pos duke saw the opportunity in manipulating a clueless Jieun who was deemed a saint by Vita to become the empress, which would decrease the power of the imperial faction (because now Tia wouldn't be empress) and thus increasing his control over the puppet emperor and empress. DUN DUN DUN. These are my speculations but we do have critical evidence from the manhwa/novel, so I would even argue that the Ruve after Jieun's appearance isn't Ruve at all.

Do Ruve's actions in his poisoned state excuse him from his actions in timeline #1? Ruve in timeline #1 is not excused from his actions in timeline #1. However, Ruve in timeline #2 should not be held against the actions of Ruve in timeline #1. Because Ruve never transmigrated; Ruve in timeline #2 has no memories of the Ruve in timeline #1. It doesn't make any sense to compare the two.

Background/analysis on why Ruve resents Tia (it's also mentioned by Ruve himself in chapter 117 of the manhwa) :
www. wattpad. com/849743544-spoilers-the-abandonned-empress-analysis-why-we/page/2

Place yourself in Ruve's shoes. If ever since you were a child, everyone around you, even your own parents, treated another kid so much better than yourself, how would you feel? The love from your parents that should be yours but was instead, naturally poured out for someone else - how would you feel?

At the end of the day, the pos duke is the sole villain of this story. Ruve, Tia, and Jieun were all unfortunate victims of his schemes.

I believe the point the author was trying to emphasize is that the love between Ruve and Tia is one that transcends time. I'm not sure if I would say they're fated to be with each other because Vita (Fate) was trying to reinstate Jieun's existence in the AE world but I think, no matter how many reincarnations, Ruve and Tia will always love each other. We got to see a very tragic depiction of their love story in the first timeline, and the complete opposite in the second; but in the end, they were always together. I believe Ruve and Tia are soulmates, star-crossed lovers, etc. etc. There is only Ruve for Tia; only Tia for Ruve. The author stuck to this theme throughout this whole story. There were no holes left unburied. And that's what makes this story so great for me. SO PLEASE GIVE THE NOVEL A SHOT

To be fair, I don't think most of the reviewers on here went far besides chapter one. It's uncomfortable and perhaps misleading, especially since there is only one chapter available on here. Luckily for me, I came across the webtoon by chance. And it's pretty good.

The protagonist does not stick with the prince. In fact, from what I seen she has difficulty associating with him and want to stay uninvolved with him as much as possible. Instead, she creates a new path for herself to become the next heir of her noble family-- as a knight. There seems to be a collection of bachelors that will chase after her of their young prepubescent ages.

Furthermore, there seems to be a large focus on her relationship with her father, now that she understands in the life prior that he was undoubtly a caring man.

She has a classic sob story that luckily for her-- won't happen again.

I would def read past a certain amount of chapter to see what it is fully capable of.

Im sad I cant give this zero stars, beautiful art wasted on tr*shy plot.

Its as if the author was trying to make everyone hate every character.

MC can grow a spine. The only thing that can give me satisfaction or redeem the story at this point is torturing the ML and then crucifying him.

sorry got a bit emotional...

1 the Manhua was good at the beginning, some people says that the characters are well developed but I guess not really Couse I wanted them to be more honest yet nothing happened, the MC had suffered from the prince, (someone said :Arisitia was supposed to marry the crown prince of the kingdom. However, due to the appearance of a mysterious girl whom where she came from is a mystery, and her supposed to be husband married the mysterious girl instead)

Let's be frank here the story is a... more>> ##### wasting of time and energy.. If the MC wasn't suppose to marry him then why did he treated her badly way he made her kneel down and kiss his let to save her father who already been executed.. why did he let his second wife to bully her.. she was blind Cos if love.. but in the second Life she should me more aware of it.. she should not love him and never forgive him.. I'm putting myself in her place.. I would've killed him, but the author have wasted all this feeling all this anger.. I don't give a shot about his reasons.. Cos the MC was doing all the paperwork in her past life she looked proud of herself but she was just shy none understand her.. now she has lot of people around yet she end up with the f###king prince.. he is nothing but a tr*sh.. a tr*sh... I hate it.. really hate it. Those who support the prince go Bach and read the first chapters.. his arrogant attitude.. and hateful character.. if she was a bad person who treated people cruelly.. I would understand but... Whatever.. <<less

Not my cup of tea, it starts pulling up to your heartstrings to care for FL but the author fails to deliver, I would only recomend it as a study case of how NOT to write a love story.

Spoiler

After she was abused by Ruve on the first timeline she ends with him on the second timeline, all her trauma and all her growth went to tr*sh, we as the readers got pulled on the first episodes by wishing a better future for FL, on the best case Ruve would be dead, in the worst she would be happy AWAY from the bastard however author went too far with the abuse if she wanted to make us consider Ruve as her future husband, it is in poor taste and NOT what I was sold on the first chapters, and id go as far as to say that the paralels of the female lead and a woman trying to change her abusive boyfriend after he r*ped and tortured her are disgusting.

I loved it at the begging but raged at the end... the supposed redemption of the ML is just... it leaves me speechless. FL could do so much more but her character is just wasted. 2nd ML is so shamelessly turn into a ridiculous, over the top yandere, just to make the first ML look good.

This is just disappointing to read.

She ends up with the abuser again after cruel things he did in the previous life. Now he bullies other girls, treats them so badly to attract MC's love. It seems like the author want readers to forgive him, since she wrote his POV, but I cannot because he is a disgusting character I've ever known, he's such an abuser, his thoughts are unacceptable. He could've been a kind man but he didn't choose that. Maybe the author want readers to accept violence, I cannot as I'm a feminist.

I'm giving a 4 for the MC. Honesty, the ML Ruve is an a**hole. After reading the spoiler, I still think that. He can leave the rest of his life repenting and I won't EVER forgive him. He can go die the most miserable for all I care. No matter what his reason is still doesn't make his action ok. Like is his childhood/sob story Tia's fault?? Resenting Tia cuz her mom choose to save her?? F*CK! That's her own blood and bone child! What did you expect?? Oh regretting... more>> it now that ur empire is in chaos?? Hypocrite!! You reap what you sow!! Go die the worst most terrible death for all I care!! Whoever like Ruve has some SERIOUS daddy issues. Only masochists could like this a**hole.

Like poisoned? Sob story? No love? What does that have to do with poor Tia?? How is that her fault? That the end of the day, she's the most innocent person in this giant mess!! Tia is the biggest victim here!! Even though being the empress was what she was fed with growing up, she doesn't just treat it as a responsibility, our poor Tia genuinely cared about Ruve, not just as a responsibility. An what did she get in the end? HUH?? Im keeping up with the translated manhwa and oh the slow ass progress like a slow acting poison. Even if it's a misunderstanding, NOT EVERYONE have time for all that bullshit!! Many of us are here after a long day or work or school or whatever, this novel is honesty way too tiring!! <<less

The pustulous zit on the face of this story is the Male Lead. I hold a deep and abiding loathing for the crown prince/ Emperor. His petty, childish, cruelties know no bounds. He has a crushing inferiority complex, which he uses to justify doing absolutely unspeakable things the our main lady. Jealous she got some attention from his father, he trips her during his coming of age ceremony dance and snickers as everyone mocks her as clumsy. And it just got worse and worse from there. He r*pes her, he... more>> slaps her, he mentally and emotionally abuses her. He degrades her by making her the lacky of his "true" wife, who is an idiot, modern, isekai'ed teen girl, who is dazzled by his status and wealth. He kills her baby. He kills her father. And he does all of it because he knows the FL is better than him. At everything.

There is no redeeming him.

On her second time through life, the FL has 3 men vying for her attention, all of whom infinitely better than this wart of an ex husband, AND she receives a god-given middle name, which in-world means she has been chosen to be the next ruler. I wanted, I wanted SO, SO, SO badly for her to take the throne herself, pop this pustule, and crown herself Empress.

But nope. She winds right back with this abusive f***. Gives up the middle name thing, beyond playing at being a knight (for the scumbag). And then the story plays that infuriating "iF oNLy YoU WerE GIrlIeR!" garbage, trying to make every truly horrific thing she had to go to her fault because she wasn't sweet, kind, and emotive enough to be loved. Which makes me want to set things on fire.

An attempt is made to say that the prince redeemed himself by reading a letter that said the FL hated and was scared of him, so he slowly pivoted into a new, better direction and became a better person. Buuuuuuuutttt..... They appear to only work the second time around because 1) she gets a job knighting, so she is literally in an inferior position to him. His petty af ego isn't threatened because she has to take his orders, she doesn't gain his father's attention, and she is displaying a different skill set, sword play, which he is superior to her in, rather than states craft, where she decimates his sorry ass 2) she's more girly and outgoing, and 3) she has powerful friends and allies, so he knows she has options other than him if he goes too far.

Things I like: she has PTSD from her first life (like, bad enough that at one point, she swears off living 'like a woman') and this is one of the rare stories where the reborn character tries to tell others about her experiences. The 2nd male leads are all wonderful and well fleshed out. I also enjoyed the bits where she starts getting friends and training to be her father's successor, before the prince comes back into her life. I love that the prince is made vaguely aware that he was scum before, and that she totally turns him down. but he fails to sufficiently redeem himself.

It is well written, and good for if you want to be furious or cry. Or, just read almost all of it and then stop before the ending so you can pretend something else happens.

Would have been better as a ghost-revenge fic, where her spirit sticks around to watch the complete collapse of the kingdom without her, or as a conquering heroine fic, where she takes everything. <<less

I guess the writer did a good job of stiring people's emotions mine inclusive, I get what the writer was trying to sell but still I didn't buy it. One thing I hate is men who do dumb sh*t and claim someone else made them do it, or they fell victim to someone's plot, it gets me thinking if you're dumb enough to fall into someone's trap then how will you protect me. The reason why I did this one star.

No it was not just because of the male lead even though I do believe that's ridiculous specifically because he did r*pe treated her like garbage in his past life. Yes I can understand domestic abuse victim mentality that the victim always go back to their abuser. Yes I can understand that "he change" even though he didn't his actions and motivations really didn't change only that changed was that way his obsession and he was presented.

One thing that does bother me is that when she has a full-blown panic attack. When she meets the prince (ML.) And goes into a state of shock because of him. Why is no one talking about this like this was bad. For a number of days and then the male lead kind of reads her mail without her permission like what the -

[collapse]

This book started really good. I fell in love with the nuances of The female lead becoming a knight and the Second male lead growing up together. How she was very determined to become the head of our household that she's a woman.

However those objectives are thrown out the window when the male lead starts showing attraction towards her and she starts reciprocating.

this changes her motivation and personality a little bit and it doesn't really make sense for me to have so much character development to just throw it away for " romance".

That is why I do not like this one I can think of 1, 000, 001 ways how this book would be better.

Ex - I think this book would've ended a lot better if she ended up alone becoming the head of the household like she wanted to become and changing her destiny not making sure that the God that put her in this awful destiny. Proud because she actually decided to change her destiny and achieving her goals by herself and by her own merit. <<less

alot of people are talking abt character development in here but no one even mentioned the fact that "PTSD" is completely disregarded in this story. Like, entirely.

the r*pe part of it already threw me off honestly and then the whole bs of how new tl new ruve, was expected but the ???? Idk like the acceptance which came so easily was incredibly annoying. Instead of hesitation and being scared of what all happened in the past, she was more scared that she couldnt get pregnant and stuff but she ALSO barely harbored any resentment like???

i wish the author had been more in depth of the trauma tia had to suffer through and if not then atleast not made past ruve so hateful AND trying to redeem the past ruve??? Nah no way.

her character development was great yes. The father daughter interactions and making friends was also great. That is the only reason the 1 star is there.

imo, the concept is already overused but lmao the past was definitely exceptional I gotta say and even then ending up with the man
