One of my favorites. Just love the action and the heart touching feels. The OP and ruthless MC is another huge bonus on the side! Definitely worth a read. Said enough!

Edit: Read again till chapter 1300. Still my favourite. Hands down beats it's rivals like MGA for me. Especially the crazy for his harem love fights even though it feels repetitive to some. And then the smooth talks. There were parts of this novel that I bookmarked and read 4-5x XD!! Give it a try, definitely won't regret as long... more>> as you like an OP MC who isn't indecisive, cares a lot about relations (umm... harem), a little comedy, tons of feels and of course the harem!

I actually had dropped this novel once, but I picked it up again because the MC is pretty awesome and his action is simply too hillarious to be skipped.

But the problem is the MC is too perfect that it's almost impossible for any character growth. And yes, until c744 the MC don't have any character growth, except getting stronger and stronger.

Sometimes I feel the MC know something that he can't possibly know which make the reader confused and cough 7 mouthful of blood. The thing that grind my gears is... more>> some character sometimes has, uh, too out of the box character, especially the supreme being/gods. It takes me time to accept a character who is supreme, charismatic but pe*verted at the same time.

But the good thing is his character is very unique, his action is awesome and full of 'mature' comedy.
Spoiler

The MC saved people by being forced to s*x and marry with beauties, continuously.

While the story rather repetitive, it's still pretty fun too read. I expect you will struggle at first, but at volume 5 the plot getting richer and the MC all-knowing ability is decreasing.

If you dropped this at lower chapter, you may want to read it again until the latest chapter. <<less

I like the novel but not everyone will. Like others have said it is predictable and the same basic plot constantly repeating. The main reason I keep reading is to see the main antagonist slap themselves in the face and see the crowds jaw drop when the MC's strength defies their logic. For anyone who wants to read it I recommend reading in blocks of 100 chapters. That's is the usual volume size where their won't be any major cliffs. Taking a small break every 100 chapters us also good... more>> to keep you from getting bored in the middle of an arc. <<less

Against the Gods, in terms of story writing does very well. While it does follow the standard formula of most xian xia but the way it is written keep the battles exciting. We enjoy the progress made by the MC and his brash boldness. The world building of the story is very rich in content with much to be explored. Although I question the MC sense of morals, while it is accepted that in Xian Xia world a lot of our values does not apply, but not being able to... more>> empathise with the MC makes it less enjoyable. That doesn't keep our MC being full of badassery, though. His character still leaves much to be liked despite certain flaws. As for character interactions, I find them quite well done. But when it comes to romance, the repeated usage of damsel in distress brings down the enjoyment value of the romances. <<less

One of best stories ever written. But after reading a lot of chapters I feel that it turns repetitive. For ex- MC find bad guy- bad guy strong- may or may not beat MC- MC finds it offensive trains hard becomes stronger than bad guy- fights with bad guy- defeats or kills bad guy- stronger bad guys who may or may not be allies of previous bad guy comes. The cycle repeats.

4/5 mainly due to the fact that the author thought up these countless scenarios and made it work. Even... more>> at c500 he doesnot make the novel dull (though it is repetitive). <<less

One of the few light novels that I continue to read, Against the Gods (ATG) has steady plot and plenty of plot devices to keep the light novel interesting even after 513 chapters. Despite the fact that Yun Che being an overpowered piece of sh*t and being able to smash anything in his way (with some struggles), ultimately the fresh plot-line saves Yun Che from being, well, repetitive and boring. Due to the annoying cliff-hanger style of each chapter, the author keeps reader hooked and waiting for updates. - Chunsa

It was new and interesting at the start, but recently became the same old, same old. "Weapon = Smash, Girl = Harem" and that my friends could be the most simplified definition of it. The sad thing is he doesn't make use of his first trump cards, his medical knowledge and craftiness. I'll still read it though cause why not?

... The star rating is rubbish on the phone so ignore that 4 and a half stars and make it 2

First off this is a really great story and is worth the read. But if I had to name 1 flaw and its something that has been mentioned before, this story is repetitive. It repeats the same plot over and over again
Spoiler

basically Yun Che goes from place to place and always starts off being ridiculed. Then he will show everyone his strength and they will all be left speechless. And this has repeated non-stop throughout the story.

Used to be very interesting, now I'm losing faith in this. Probably because there's gonna be lots of arcs till he reaches his family. Anyways story is ok, the cultivation levels has no sense to it, it just randomly goes up when the author thinks of an excuse why it went up. But it doesn't really matter because he defeated them with ease even if the author makes out he's struggling you know he's not using his best moves until the author thinks it's time to end the fight from... more>> wasting chapters.

Spoiler

the first novel I've read for someone underage losing his v**ginity at a young age to an older women and getting her pregnant on first try, applaud author for that, we all know she's not going to be the only one getting pregnant.....

The thing about the novel is, when you are reading it you won’t think much about Yun Che (MC). You won’t see his faults. You are lead to believe that what he is doing is right. However if you think about it after a while, you will see the MC's flaws; he is an arrogant, ruthless idiot who doesn’t want to damage his pride and have all the girls with the Jade White Skin and beauty out of this world fall for him. Also I feel as though Yun Che... more>> doesn’t love the girls, he only wants them for s*x. He will go out of his way to ensure they fall for him. He is a very cold hearted person.

However regardless of this the plot is great. If the MC was better, and didn’t mu*der ruthlessly. I would have given the novel a 5/5. Because I can’t stand the MC, I will give the novel a 3/5.

EDIT: I can't take his arrogance anymore. So I have dropped it at chapter 362. Mainly due to the recent chapters. He doesn't love the girls in his harem, it's obvious. The translation is amazing, the plot is great but Yun Che ruins it. If you don't mind an extremely arrogant MC. This is the novel for you. <<less

the adventure side only so-so in fact, it disastrously awful, I prefer male lead that has little brain that won't offend every villain in his radius. Even if he want to revenge can he done it with finesse? *Sigh* but the romance side can truly offset it.. This is the first time I read a xianxia for enjoying it human interaction :>

I found a factor common with the majority of Xianxia novels. Either the beginning is boring and makes you want to quit, but the rest is bloody amazing, or the beginning is beautiful but it falls off a bit after a while. Unfortunately, ATG falls under the latter effect. The beginning was just splendid, but it became less so as it passed a certain mark. Don’t get me wrong, the novel is still great, but it becomes slightly more boring after a while. Regardless, it is a good novel to... more>> read and is actually rated incredibly highly in my waffle-book. I give it about a 4.4 overall, with a 5 star beginning and a 3.95 star continuation. Unfortunately I can only post whole numbers so I am giving it a 4.

Conclusion: If you want to read a good, enjoyable novel that will keep you entertained for a while, read this one. Just don't expect it to be incredibly groundbreaking after the first 200 chapters. Also, take a plate of waffles with you. <<less

Pretty good read, In the beginning it was fantastic when the MC was pretty much in a tr*sh body and married to a genius and beautiful girl. Then it does go through the Wuxia/Xianxia troupes and the constant power ups. Right now with the harem being constantly added and built I’m losing favor over it but it’s still pretty good. If you liked Martial God Asura, read this too.

So this story fits in the "Really Good In Parts, Really Hard To Read In Parts" category. It's not bad, and the story is pretty good. However the story just seems to get bogged down in places; in other words, the pacing is reasonably bad. For me, Against the Gods is one of those save up a dozen chapters then read type of series; it helps with the pacing if you do it that way, and chapters come out rather regularly.

This was really promising but I feel like YC's powers up are too often. Some fights drag for too long when the result is obvious. He just walks and offends different people every arc, picks a new girl then another arc. The plot is really good and if u ignore the s*upidity of MC who claims to be a genius (doctor). The good part about him is that he's at least willing to give his life for the sake of protecting any of his girls which actually gives the feeling... more>> that he deeply cares about them, rather than just collecting like pokemons. He is relying on his loli master too much. To summarize it the novel is worth time but be ready for strong plot armor. <<less

Although I do like this novel a lot, I can't help but be a little dismayed by all the hype. I do believe that this is one of the better novels here. I think that what most people like about this novel is the witty-ness it has. Though I think that just because you are amused by things in this novel, you shouldn't be critical. This has always been a strong pulling factor by many sources of entertainment. I've seen it first hand recently in the society where I live... more>> in. It is good and witty, yet not the best. I can say this for sure as I have read better ones, both here and not.

Before anyone has the idea to go refute me, saying maybe I haven't read enough, let me clear this one out... I think there's a high probability that I've read more than most people here. Just for published books, it goes to 3 digits and not just a hundred or so. And for all the literature I've read on the web, I've already lost count of it. I think it's not an exaggeration to say I've read more of it than the published ones. I'm sorry if this sounded smug. It wasn't my intention. <<less
