enjoyed the early parts of the novel but the ending felt really rushed and imo it was terrible, same thing happened with dungeon hunter (novel made by the same author). Translation quality was also painful to go through, felt like I was reading a mtl at times. Novel wasn't entirely bad but I suggest you find other novels to read.

It's average. The start was very strong but it felt like the author kinda lost interest in his work at the very end. There are many underdeveloped characters and plot point. The ending is just sorta meh, it's not bad but it's not great either.

I like this story. I'm not going to say it's the greatest sh*t ever or some overblown nonsense like that but it's enjoyable as a power fantasy. I had to deduct 2 stars solely because the translator, editor, or both for this novel at Asian Hobbyist are hot garbage. Even chapters that say they've been edited I can not tell. With many misspellings and weird sentence structures. So many that I feel this is being machine translated with little to no editing despite a tag at the bottom of chapters.

First of all I'd like to say that the people who gave bad rates and completely gave up on the stories are mostly wrong, if they actually took the time to read until Muyoung figures out his purpose and his true goal, his identity along with it which is a massive surprise at least to me. The translation and writing itself may have some ups and downs due to the author constantly switching the topics going from one to another and then toa completely different matter but other than that... more>> the story progresses quite finely for an MC and it actually doesn't get boring and hooks you the moment you pass the 150 ch mark, although I can't say much about the story since I would spoil it but, the general story itself has massive turns. Also keep in mind that the MC is purely evil, the incarnation of death and evil, I will try not to spoil it but
Spoiler

the MC deep inside in the beginning chapters admires heroes and wants to be like them, however he soon realizes that wouldn't be possible no matter what so, in order to help humanity re-unite he decides to become the enemy of the entire Underworld, enemy of both humans and Demon Gods, to make humanity understand they're not safe that they need to fight more than they ever did and of course in his hands he has a weapon able to wipe of an entire species off the face of the earth, and let me remind you, not only is he a necromancer, king slayer, archangel HE HAS WINGS

Writing skill: 1/10

Plot: 3/10

Character progression: 8/10

Translation: 5/10

The author clearly wrote this with no real plot in mind, as plot armors appeared everytime the MC is in dangerous situation. Moreover the author LOVES to jump in story, i.e the sentence is about A, then the next sentence is already about Z, with the following sentence regarding plot V.

The translation is frustrating to read since EVERY FUKING PARAGRAPHS ARE CONSISTED IN JUST ONE LINE!

I always find it funny when people complain about the MC getting increasingly OP. For a lot of us, that's half of what makes a series so good.

In any case, KoTB has remained exciting from the start and even now its story hasn't fallen apart, which is something I wish I could say for a lot of other RPG series.

Here to answer One Simple Question: Is it Shit?

Not Really!

Well the obvious problem is that he knows almost everything about everyone, since he's an elite transmigrating into the same world.

However the journey itself is not the worst.

So far, very well done. The MC doesn’t get off track from his main goal, and even though he is forced to deal with other matters, he still comes back to his original goal. He develops quite quickly, already reaching an almost divine status as of now (chapter 162). The plot flows smoothly enough, and the characters are varied. The antagonists are not always enemies, which is great, because that gives the story depth and adds dimension to the relationships between characters. A fun and action-filled read, good if you... more>> appreciate the weak-to-strong tags but are a bit impatient. OP MC for those who like that. <<less

Its an amazing novel, and its fresh imao, cause the novel/manga I use to stumble upon has mmorpg background so the story sometimes diverge from virtual to Real life. This one is a mix between preapocalytic world, western fantasy/fable character, hindu/buddhism/taoism element, and last but not least greek myth element. And it blends in just naturally. Love the dokaebi race reminds me lot of ragnarok online. Its great story so far, even though it looks like lots of grinding but the characters around him... more>> are alive. Not just some faceslapping s#1T then off with their heads. The race is introduce as it goes on, character (MC) develops through the story, no annoying forced love drama which land him into some gargantuan problem plot (which I really hate with a passion), Calculating, and best of all, The mc's background is an assasin which is kind of grey/black world. As oppose to stereotypical knight in shining armor type aka prince charming. Overall its great read and hope that its translated to completion <<less

Spoiler

It's too similar to the author's previous work "Dungeon Hunter". While reading the latest chapter I got this feeling that there is nothing new between this and "Dungeon Hunter". The author just replaced some minor plot elements without changing his original script. Let me give an example..... (For those who have not read "Dungeon Hunter" there may be some spoilers so read at your own risk)
1. Dungeon Hunter: A demon is sent back in time by giving him an another chance after he fails the second time.
The king of the Battlefield: Human is sent back in time.
2. DH: There are 72 demons who our hero is fighting against.
TKOTB: Same
3. DH: There are some hints about the gods in the early chapters mentioning that some are with him and he may have to fight some higher power.
TKOTB: Based on my understanding, if King solomon is god for humans then there will be a higher power who myuyong has to fight against in the future. I am pretty sure that the demons are not the main villains of this story.
4. DH: Hero trains humanity indirectly to fight against demons, especially a few of his chosen humans he remembers from his past whom he trains directly while hiding his identity.
TKOTB: Although not to that extent, he did train some humans and set them in their right path at the early stages hoping that they may be helpful.
5. Both the protagonist of DH and TKOTB has a fairy with them and their characters are pretty similar.
6. Both of them get some help from gods from time to time.
7. DH: He wears a legendary set armour which is very OP almost to the point of godly. Of course, he collects each part during his journey and guess what their previous (First) owner is a powerful demon whose name is "HELL MONARCH" (Hell=maybe demon, Monarch=King) .
TKOTB: At present he gets an armour which is very OP, also a set item, also owned by some person whose name is "IMMORTAL KING" (Immortal= Human, King).
These are a few which I have noticed till the present chapter (CH-93). I hope the future of this novel is not similar to "Dungeon Hunter".
P.S> I will still read this novel and I may increase my rating in the future depending on how the author takes the story from here. And do not compare this novel with "Reincarnator". The start of both the "REINCARNATOR" and TKOTB may be similar but they go in completely different directions from there.

Very similar to Reincarnator, but much more killing. Good stuff. Less elaborate schemes and MC doesn't have a specific grand plan as reincarnator has, and as such is not as driven to rush through everything. This MC also doesn't have as big a wealth of knowledge like reincarnator's one has.

While the story itself is interesting, the characters for the most part are 1-dimensional, especially the MC. IMO the author is trying to write about an MC that relies on logic to pick the path that gives him the most likely-hood of surviving, however, rather than the actions of the MC showing that, the MC mostly just tries to go about his way and ignore everyone else. Sure, he gives tips to people every now and then, but his actions are too mechanical. What killed this story for me is... more>> that this story basically follows a flawed AI with no emotions that has been 'given' a certain task to complete. <<less

This is one of the best game based novels I have ever seen. The King of the Battlefield is a fun dark novel about a badass f*cking everything up in the best way possible for him to rise to ultimate power, occasionally mu*dering along the way

Similar to Killing Grounds of Gods and Devils except the MC is positioning himself to survive in the underworld. He isn't to interested in helping others but might offer survival pointers too those that pay attention to his actions. Story is progressing along at an adequate pace. There is still plenty of background and character building to flesh out this story but so far it is a good read.

As a very judgmental person when its come to VR type novels and a very great fan of second chances stories I can honestly say that as of chapter five this story has me hook. The story include so VR like part of it but its completely real instead of it being full VR. I also like the main character as he is not someone who gives into temptations which can be see in the first 5 chapters.I also appreciates his ruthlessness for this is a very important element in... more>> stories to me. Overall I can absolutely say that the translation is great and the story is also great which led me into giving this series a 5 tar review. <<less

Very refreshing novel. Dark MC, good plot.

He is not a japanese MC, he is a reincarted Dark King and he behaves as such. He is proud and he is high and mighty and he has a perfectly good reason to, because he is badass.

People are mad that he kills people, of coruse it is a cruel world. If you are weak you are a s*ave.

MC is not fake edgy, he is just not sunshine and daisies kind of guy

Its pretty pathetic. He disregards everyone and acts all high and mighty, for literally no reason but to showcase his edginess. I would have respected him if he at least tried to USE the other people he came with, but he tries to go it alone, alienates half the camp with his terrible attitude, says they are worthless even though he himself was the same in the past, and then when other people turn away from him blames them for it...

Its seems like a novel where the MC can do... more>> no wrong, the people that he happens to favour things turn out well for, the people who get on his bad side end miserably, even though it would be reasonable not to be on this guys good side based on the way he behaves. It seems like the type of novel where when the people who got on his bad side die terribly trying to do something, the MC will be like 'tsk... idiots', because they tried something and obviously don't know the future. <<less
