In the shade of the dark forest, a beautiful oriental maiden with a troubled expression sighs to herself.

“Why did I forget…? No, I guess I wanted to forget. He’s finally here; that harem eroge protagonist…”

Saitou Chie has a childhood friend that has always been the stereotypical manga protagonist. Because of that, she is constantly annoyed by his “fan club.” She isn’t even surprised when he is summoned to a fantasy world and wishes him luck when he suddenly grabs her yelling “Then you come too!!” and pulls her in with him. Now her body has been destroyed because it wasn’t meant to go through the summoning and a God is saying “I will give you a new body…”

Meanders a bit too much. Half of the synopsis, regarding the "harem king childhood friend" hasn't even been relevant since the first two chapters which were just explaining the set-up.

Basically, the guy alone was intended to be summoned but he dragged the girl in, and she died because she was an unintended summon. God as compensation let her reincarnate 2 years prior to his summoning, and the story up until now has been covering the events between her friend's summoning and when she first appeared in this world. I guess... more>> on an off-topicish note, you could bring up the obvious questions that would arise, like "what would happen if she creates enough of an influence to prevent the events that lead to her childhood friend's summoning in the first place? Isn't that a paradox?, " but it's not likely that it'll ever be examined in detail, considering the prologue has her hearing the details of said hero summoning.

But anyways, this aspect of exploring the journey of two years prior to the main event happening is fine on its own, but why even include that bit of her backstory if it's not going to be relevant for such a long time? Might as well have not existed. Not much of importance has really happened and currently the novel is really dragging with long tournament arc that isn't the least bit interesting or important. The author seems to be in no rush whatsoever to get to the story the synopsis actually teased.

The sad thing is, contrary to what I expected from reading the synopsis, I'm actually far, far more interested in the childhood harem king "sub-plot" (it's basically a sub-plot already) than I am with overpowered black knight adventures. It wasn't as obnoxious or played for laughs as I thought, and I actually felt for both of them in their own ways. The harem guy was an idiot, but it's clear that he loves the protagonist, but isn't reciprocated. Meanwhile, I understand why she despises him. It's kinda like a tragedy in a sense. "What if you were in love with your childhood friend but God decided to make you a literal dense, ret*rded harem protagonist and the result was the distance between the two of you became a rift miles wide?"

I want to see the story about them reconciling and understanding each other better. The reason he even dragged her into the summoning circle in the first place was because he didn't want to be without her. Why did the story have to become something completely different? I'm waiting desperately now for a time skip. I hope we get one soon. Worst case scenario, the story will end at that point and there will be no such relationship. <<less

I love the storyline and the idea that even without kidnapping some random child from another world, if the army actually put in effort they could still do pretty well on their own. (Except that the army is learning this from someone who got accidentally summoned but whatever)

I docked 1 star because the MC was typical "humble' Japanese character that Japanese authors love to self indulge and lukewarmly show off with. O look at me, I'm OP but I'm gonna completely deny that and pretend I'm just a... more>> normal girl! Gets kind of gross like, have some pride please ?

(I mean I know she's not fishing for compliments or anything, but my experience with people in life who are amazing but can't take a compliment just leaves a bad taste.) <<less

Finally! A female protagonist who isn't dumb! Who isn't weak! And who isn't obsessed with love! Chie, you are the MC I've been looking for all my otaku life. She treats people like actual people not harem gags. She's genuinely likable. And the story... There's an actual plot! Its not just OP world building or point-less slice of life! Things are moving in a purposeful direction! Its not the most exciting, funny, or moving story I've ever read but, my god, its satisfying not to be reading the same old... more>> tropes
My only regret is you don't have more mofumofu time with your unicorn. <<less

Nice story about childhood friend of hero. Sometimes I think tittle is kind missleading I mean she 4 years ahead him of course she gonna stronger than hero.

For some reason I ship her with hero dunno why. It's depend when they meet again though if he can realize her identity from her behavior.

I actually really like this novel. It's fun to read, the heroine is interesting, the side characters like Claude, Conrad, and Alice are interesting, and I can't wait to get to the part where the "s*upid harem building hero" finally arrives. Wish someone would pick up the translations regularly, but I'm thankful for what has been translated - definitely a fun read and worth checking out.

I actually enjoy the story although the MC might be boring in some ways. At least she's not annoying. I find its rare and interesting to have a female character in another world to fight a demon lord. I like the characters' views in the story and how they interact. I'm excited to know how she would react when her childhood friend appears before her the next time. It's sad that the raw chapters are not very updated.

I'd give this a 3 or 4 star..

Honestly, don't waste your time as it's been on hiatus or dropped by the author for a long time now. Story never got to the hero appearing, you could basically remove the hero entirely and the story wouldn't be any different. There's no real antagonist or even demon lord yet..

Aside from the pointless premise, probably the most interesting and unique thing is that the Empire is actually good while the Kingdom and Holy Kingdom are the bad corrupt/evil ones.

I love the series as I can enjoy a paced romance as well as an OP character. Also... I mean... the multi-POV is great, especially comedically.

While it’s been very enjoyable, there’s a slight problem:

It may have been discontinued...

According to the TL the Author has a writer’s block and the series has been halted mid-arc. The TL decided to stop translating at the end of the arc (see their note for chapter 35-36), and while that gives what seems like a modest ending it’s left a lot of loose ends... more>> in the story. Sad to say we have to wait for any updates from the author and then a TL to pick this back up. <<less

I came in this novel wanting to read about the thing with the 'harem protag childhood friend', much like Shiraori_. However, it seems that it won't come to light sooner or later. Which sucks, because it seems like it would be super interesting.

The only qualms I had for Yuusuke so far is that he has the 'handsome' part down, which initially made me think that he's a shoujo manga male lead instead. Harem (or fanclub) and denseness aside, Yuusuke was a pretty ok guy. Just severely misunderstood by our MC.

Oh... more>> well. I'm looking forward to their meeting (and hoping for a time-skip). <<less

One of the best novel I've read! But I wish the time would hurry and skip to four years later to meet her friend, cause it's starting to get boring!

i really loved this novel I still do I really hope it'll update again someday, it was probably one of the very first novels I read when I just started reading novels I didn't like most of them and some I DEEPLY REGRETTED MY WASTED TIME.., but this one it was the one that made me for the first time binge read a novel I really really love it it's so interesting and funny maybe it has some repeated element's but I still love it so much I can't help... more>> put smile when I recall how absorbed I was in reading this I even downloaded a knight (lukly I managed to find female/male version) pic so imagining it would be easier though at the time I also found some other good novels like happylife and others I still sometimes felt like I needed a breather from them, leaving the place I stopped at in a different tap I often came back to read this novel and most the time I couldn't stop once I started ^^; though I still belated reading as much I could so I wouldn't have to finish reading it but in the end I read almost all the chapters I really hope it updates again though the author is kinda slow to write but i'll definitely wait with all my heart that's just how much I loved reading this I hope you love it too it has action and some fluff sometimes and it has funny moment's as well, I don't know about others but to me it's perfect and the best I hope it stays like this <<less

This had great potential and I am deeply upset that I’ve come to hate this book. I don’t want to spoil things though... read at your own risk.

I won’t spoil anything but I will continue to say that I have read a lot of books, novels, manga and the like. I’ve never been forced to stop reading a story even though the plot held/still holds so much promise until now. I’m sorry if this review is confusing or disagreeable but I expected better.

Honestly the characters disgust me and the plot... more>> is not redeeming enough to continue <<less

It is an interesting plot with the female protagonist as a knight and how she use practical procedures to improve the Empire. And of course, still waith for the romance to progress

The only thing that bugs me is how far off the ero-protagonist's arrival feels. I mean, the black knight is stronger than the hero, but said hero isn't even there for the comparison. If not for that one chapter, the title of this WN could have just been "I Was a Black Knight When I Reincarnated".

While it's not exactly what I expected, it's still worth a read.

What I expected (more or less) :
Spoiler

Black Knight does amazing things while ero-protag unintentionally steals more credit than Mr. Satan. Probably didn't need this in a spoiler, but why not.

i really really like this story a lot, I like how the MC has a lot of qualities that makes pepe follow and love her yet she herself doesn't realize it like I mean that childhood friend of her obviously likes her and I like how she isn't like most female leads that are just plain dumb and clumsy.

I honestly loved this novel so much. And I kept it in my updates list for so long, but finally I think I'm going to relinquish it to the dropped list. It's a pretty good switch on the male protagonist and it doesn't it in a way that doesn't completely invalidate the MC. So many of the FL Isekai novels make the lead to be first female and then the hero, and it always made me so mad. This was a change from that and I enjoyed it so much.... more>> Maybe one day I'll see an update again, until then I'm saying goodbye. <<less

Eh, I wanted to read about the interactions between the MC and the hero, but was disappointed since many chapters in and the hero hasn't even appeared in the fantasy world yet (except for the prologue and chapter 1). Props to the translation though, its good.

I felt cheated. Prologue is nice if the book is completely written and/or written very well. If it's an ongoing novel and it diverge too much from chapter 1, it's not good. It felt like a bait click.

Especially when you introduce a vital character in prologue, tells an interesting part about a dragon and the summoning of a hero. Then proceeds to start chapter one introducing a character that paled compare to the prologue character (I get it, he is a hero BUT) then introduce a story on whole different... more>> phase compared to the idea you gave on prologue.

Prologue should have contained the general idea or flow of the story. I'm not interested on how well the Black knight built the army. I'm more interested to see how the hero will deal about the Black knight's well built army because that was the idea. The idea in prologue. Maybe a back track about black knight BUT NOT from scratch. Those details can be slowly... but for pete's sake 5 years. 5 years. Whatever.

I get it. It's cool. Fine. I'll read it... C'MON! I can't get over it. That is the worst cliff hanger ever. You introduce the hero and keeps on talking about him but as far as I can see, he won't appear in the nearest forseeable future. He was introduce in prologue/early chapter but won't appear gum's knows when. The phasing of Black knight's world building seems long. This is like, Harry Potter getting introduce and his story told but not actually appearing until the battle with Voldermort. It's frustrating. I don't even know if I make sense.

Maybe I'll go back once I know the hero already appeared.

Lots of potential but haven't been utilised well. Keep on writing author, you got the idea. Good luck, work hard. Anyway, I'll see myself out. <<less

A really enjoyable read, the idea and plot is interesting, and the characters are lovable. Too lovable sometimes that you get suspicious of their motive. The story is slow paced but eventhough the updates (on the tl and story itself) comes out between super long breaks, I feel like I would never drop it and will wait for it forever. Maybe one point that I can't understand is the development of the character of the MC, I hope the author would give more details later. Well I still love the... more>> black knight nontheless :) . The translator does a great job trying to convey all details (which are a lot), kudos. 5 stars because this story got me hooked despite the slow pace. <<less

This story is refreshing in its own way if I must say so. So far the MC even if it was “she” I don’t fell any weak vibe from her. And it was easy to read and understand.
