After his fall, the Duke who was distant with his wife and daughter recalled his memories of another world. With a new perspective on life, he swore to cherish and protect those two.

Then, he suddenly realized. His young daughter that he swore to dote on… was, in fact, the villainess of an otome game he didn’t know why he remembered from a previous life! But, swearing an oath that ‘I will never let that girl fall into ruin!’, he vowed to change the course of her destiny whilst also loving those two people with all his heart.

This is simply a story about a man who awoke as the father to a villainess and wants nothing more than to dote on both his wife and daughter.

Ugh. Whatever review you'll see, I'd just warn you to prepare your insulin injection since this one is loaded with diabeetus-inducing situations. There should be a choke warning before the story starts since everytime those sweet scenes happened, I felt like a loadful of sugar just filled my mouth and my heart.

The story was light-hearted, fluffy-filled, and kinda short-lengthed. It fills your heart bit by bit, comfortably.

Also, @Eclat123, no, the MC was a "... was a working man in Japan... [sic]". It was right there, clearly on the first chapter.... more>> As to why a working man remember a storyline of an otoge? "... but why on earth can I even recall something like that in the first place? [sic]" It's not like men can't play an otoge (or bake cookies and stuffs), or women can't play galge, right? <<less

the story is really fluffy, its about his daily life of pampering his wife and child, no r18 details, but it really irks me when he completely disregards the customs of his time, since he posseses a partial memory of his other life but have the complete memmory of his current life. Its therefore unrealistic to be such a low IQ and ignorant of the customs of his current character.

This is not a story you read for epic adventure and deep intrigue or even meaningful story telling. It's really exactly as the title describes it. Just a pure dose of sugar. If you go into with that understanding it's a pleasant, light read.

Also, props to the translation team! They do an amazing job on this series. It's very easy to read and you can tell a lot of love is put into it. Thanks for the hard work MWM!

It starts off strong with the MC coming into this new life and helping out a sad little girl and fixing a broken marriage, setting aside that this means he's basically stealing the life of another man and walking around in his skin while lying to that man's wife. But then... nothing happens. He meets the capture targets from the game, keeps them from growing up unhappy and then just proceeds to make cookies and flirt with his wife until the end of time. Why is this even marketed as... more>> a villainess story? If the villainess is still barely more than a toddler after 68 chapters, when does the actual otome game stuff start? I don't mind a slow start but there has been no development whatsoever along those lines.

I was going to give this two stars, but then I realized I'm not the target demographic so I shouldn't be TOO mean. Still, it's not good. Pure fluff only gets you so far when the fluff isn't even that good and there are some creepy undertones to it. <<less

Really interesting premise. The first couple chapters focused on regaining his family and bla bla bla. And although there're some dumb stuffs like people forgive/trust each other way too easily, the rest is a heart warming story. Looking forward to new releases.

Prepare dose of insulin before reading this because the ammount of fluke sugar, laying every time in each chapter.

Story is about man who reincarnated as duke who has wife and cute daughter (yeah he didnt reincarnated into OP MC being). Then story proceed is how MC dote his family member with overload of heart warming moment, which may make most evil person smiling tbh.

The story itself are light, short and mostly kinda one short scene chapter but its comfortable to read so I didnt find it wrong. One of those... more>> novel which could heal your mental just by reading it, stuff for everyone 10/5. I just hope the quality keep as it is to the end.

kudosu to translator. <<less

You'll get sugary overdosed. It's so fluff. The chapters are short but overloaded in sweets moments. You might want something salty to eat while reading to compensate the sweetness lol

Awful, mainly because the MC is so boring and s*upid. Also, what the hell is a Duke, a member of high nobility, doing baking confections? You have chefs for that. Even if you have the ability it's embarrassing. A middle aged nobleman baking cookies and cheesecake, pure cringe.

Hello~ I'm from future....

This has interesting Otome games plot where the one who becomes MC is the father of the villainess.

If you want a lot of sugar 'till you get a diabetes, then I recommended this to you. Because the focus of the story is the sugar, it is quite short and easy to understand (even though, I used google translate to read the raws)

And remember~ Prepare your insulin injection~

I have actually been searching for a story where male MC would devote his love and affection to his FL who was neglected before and he regretted it. I got tired of female MCs being reborn/transmigrated and be the one to have to impress or win over the ML. This one is a breath of fresh air for me and I love that it's simple enough for a leisure read.

A very simple, feel-good story, with shallow characterization and plot, but lots of heartwarming moments.

Premise:

The MC is a Japanese salary man who takes over the body of the cold, distant noble father of an otome game's villainess. He immediately falls for his wife and then dotes on his daughter all the time. That's about it.

... more>> Setting:

The world is woefully undefined. It's apparently medieval, with a king and a knight's order, but there is little to no world building present.

Characters:

The MC is a hypercompetent doting dad. The wife is a super-cute shrinking violet. The daughter is an adorable two years old girl. There is little to no deeper characterization there.

Plot:

There is little to no plot. This story is all about the MC doting on his family, and occasionally making the future male leads of the otome game idolize him. There's nothing else here.

Final verdict:

This is a fun and heartwarming, if somewhat trite and unremarkable story. I'd recommend it if you are looking for a quick, cozy read. Be warned: the chapters are incredibly short, and between the various TL groups and their badly coded sites with missing [next] buttons, it can be pretty annoying to read this in one sitting. <<less

This is a very fluffy childcare novel. It's a good read if you want to pass time.

It's just that the story escalated too fast and the plot moved like the flash! In just two chapters he managed to obtain his wife and daughters affection and forgiveness, despite for the fact of a long time of neglect from him, his wife just cave in so easily to him. The MC's background is also not explain deeply, the author just brush it of, of him being a transmigrator and... more>> he knows a game where he was the father of the villainess, that's it. No more explanation whatsoever of what happened to him before, he just outrightly adapted to fast.

But all in all. It's still a good read. Suited if you're feeling stressed and just wanted to chill. <<less

TLDR: Overall, a solid, albeit simple, light hearted story that certainly entertained me for ~85% of the 6.5 hours it took to read all 167 currently available chapters on Syosetu. Though, the author hasn't updated the story since July 2019 so I hope it hasn't been dropped because it certainly hasn't reached a conclusion on Syosetu.

As of writing this review, I have read all available chapters (167, since side stories/alternate POV's aren't included in author's chapter count) on Syosetu and I'm unsure of the actual status of this story. The... more>> author was uploading a new chapter every single day but stopped back in July of 2019 so it seems like the author might have dropped it? Unsure. Chapters are fairly short, I was able to read all 167 available chapters in about 6.5 hours.

The story never really felt like it was dragging and overall, was very enjoyable and I probably had a big, s*upid grin on my face for the most part. Even so, there are some arguably bad and even kind of creepy moments later on in the story. Bad as in it felt like MC completely broke character and creepy, not as in the plot gets creepy, but rather, some of the themes kind of made me uncomfortable and felt very out of place. More details in spoilers below.

So the big bad plot point that takes place at c117 of story (listed as 108 by author, since they don't count side stories or alternate POV chapters) was my biggest problem with the entire story:

Spoiler

Basically, a noble hires a few kids to sneak into MC's mansion to assassinate MC and his currently pregnant wife. One attacks MC with a knife, but he's very good at fighting and easily stops her, and the other 3 are also stopped and detained by the mansion staff in other locations of the mansion. One child is stopped literally right in front of MC's preggo wife's door, and confirms that yeah, they were trying to kill her too. MC appeals to the children to sell out the person that made them do this, they agree. They confront the other noble together and MC demands for the release of the children and warns the noble to not do it again... And that's it. But the downward spiral continues as the MC and prince then decide to hire the would-be-assassins as the designated servants. The prince hires one as his maid, and the MC hires 3 of them to each be a designated maid for his (at this point in story, there's 3 plus unborn) children. Now, to the story's credit, it does make sure to show that the MC realizes that the children are also ultimately victims in the noble's scheme as well, but there's no hesitation, no weariness, no care shown by MC as he assigns these 3 maids who actively trying to harm MC and his ever so important family that has been the literal driving force of the MC to this point. Even though they are children as well, they literally attempted mu*der, and without any counseling, rehabilitation, punishment, etc, MC immediately assigned them to his children (there's 3 of them at this point, "villainess, " 2 newborns and pregnant mother). It feels like MC is putting his family in needless danger, up to this point, he's been very protective of, but everything ends up fine because of fluffy story, and lack of tragedy tag, I guess. I felt like this event broke the overall cohesion of the narrative, and felt very forced, and almost nonsensical considering how it clashed with the story's other themes. Took up like

[collapse]

Part that made me a bit uncomfortable is in more detail in spoiler below:

Spoiler

Basically, MC becomes aware that one of the children maids he has hired for his son is a shotacon. The son can't even speak yet, in fact, his first words end up being the name of the maid. MC's reaction is basically just to be impressed by his son attracting the maid. All made even worse by the fact that by this point in time, the story has confirmed that MC remembers that the reason why he, the Duke's aversion to women was due to a childhood trauma from when a maid tried to force herself onto Duke Carris when he was a young boy. How the MC approached the topic in this context made me quite uncomfortable, and felt a bit disjointed from the rest of the mostly pure-hearted fluff of the story. There were certainly other non fluffy aspects to the story, but this one felt awkward and very out of place to me.

I wonder who is the first person who make a cliche story about those generic otome game where a commoner girl falls in love with someone's fiance that make his fiance become a villain out of jealousy. It seems so many author "despise" that kind of story and make an alternative story where the villainess become the main protagonist instead.

Anyway, this LN is a good one and enjoyable for those who want something very light to read. Just like what the description told us, the story will focus more on... more>> "fatherly love" from such a doting father to his beloved family. <<less

Had interesting premise but horrendous execution. It seemed like the writer desperately wanted to avoid any and all world building so we don't know anything about this world. The characters are quiet 1 dimensional. The novel plays like a teenage boy discovered otome isekai genre he decided to write alternate story on it except his only writing experience is writing essays in eighth grade.

Okay so at first I was going to rate this 5 stars because we all know what this is based on the summary. It's all fluff and that's about it. Once they start introducing the characters from the game however, it goes a mile a minute. For example

Spoiler

the prince from the game ends up falling in love with some random girl he saves with the MC after she confesses her love to him. Not only that, most of the characters from the game end up already having someone they love or falling in love immediately after meeting someone. Not only that, all this happens while they're still children. It felt like the author was rushing through the story after chapter 100ish.

[collapse]

The reason I gave this 4 stars is because it's still a relaxing and short novel and worth reading up to around c100 because none of what I wrote in the spoiler happens yet. After that though it's really up in the air if you'll like it or not. <<less

Very light hearted novel, filled with sugar.

One point is confusing for the reader, is that he's constantly referring to himself before the regaining his memories in third person, even though it was him all along. I see it as the writer trying to make it easier for the reader and to make a distinction between his personalities. Maybe because of his young age, his Japanese personality become dominant (lived longer in Japan and was stronger - knowleage and experience).

This novel is definitely a lighthearted one. Its something that I read on a random day but I enjoyed it a lot since it was just filled with fluffy content. However, its the fact that the story is somewhat forced in a way that negates me from giving it a 5/5 rating. Read this novel if you want something light hearted. Although I say that the story is somewhat forced, it isnt majorly noticeable or bothering. You should be reading this story for the fluffly aspect and not focusing on... more>> the plot itself.

The interactions in this novel are cute and lighthearted. The main character becomes a doting husband and father. That part makes it a fun read where there isnt much "serious" content. However, its the fact that the change was a little too forced that bothers me in a way.

The child and mother were both neglected for more than a year by the main character (before he was isekaied). This would of course cause a rift into the relationships and trust should have been something that would be gained over time. However, the moment the father becomes kind to them, they switch into an amazing family. Of course the child and mother lacked love therefore desiring it; however, the change is still too sudden. This is a daughter who is only 2-3 years old that has not once received the love of his father. I find it difficult to believe that the daughter could begin fully trusting the father in that moment.

Spoiler

Spoiler

I understand the Duke's reasoning where he was sexually assualted by a maid when he was younger. Of course that would traumitize a child and make them afraid of that gender. However, it isnt said whether that story has been spread out to the public so there is no telling whether the mother or daughter knew of such story. This makes it harder for me to believe that they would have suddenly switched into that sort of family.

Alright time to do this shit

(+) What I feel is the strong suit of the novel.

  1. It's a VERY fluffy and VERY wholesome story.
  2. It's a slice of life, and a really light read because there's hardly any plot. It's just a man doting on his wife and daughter most of the time.
(-) Things keeping this novel from getting a 5 star for me.

  1. Forced forgiveness and trust, part that kind of threw me off as it's one of the first scene in the story, where both wife and daughter suddenly forgive him for neglect and place full trust on him just because he said sorry.
  2. Cringe lines that seem to be out of place. I'll let this one off a bit, because I feel like this is just a case of where the original tone can't be translated properly into English and thus seem cringy
  3. repetitive description, scenes, and dialogue. I lost count how many times this guy said his wife and daughter is so cute.
  4. Lack of conflict, although I like the light read and the slice of life genre, I'm not fond of how there's basically nothing to read about this since 68 chapter and 5 side stories in, we don't actually know that much about the world he lives in, the characters, etc, etc and it creates a really shallow read
I wanted to give this thing a 3 star because of how many nitpicks I have with it, but the story itself is just a fluff wholesome and light-hearted super sweet read that I'm actually here to find new chapters but well, been a year since a new one, so I leave this review instead.
