“I am the heroine of an otome game, so is it wrong to like the villainess?”

Corporate s*ave OL, Oohashi Rei, reincarnated as the heroine Rei Taylor in the world of the otome game 「Revolution」.

Her preference isn’t the capturable princes, it’s the villainess, Claire François.

She merrily accepts Claire’s dislike.

With the protagonist’s involvement, it’s the beginning of a unique romcom.

To make it worse, Rei’s love became directed at the villainess, what does Claire’s future hold?

It’s my second series with a screwball villainess.

A little different from ordinary… I hope you can enjoy the villainess who’s just a little different.

An amazing story about a masochist and a tsundere (literally.)

Now this story is my top 1 favorite in my terms of yuri books, Some people might disagree with my opinion and that's true but this is definitely a reccomend.

If you're creeped out by the FL because of strange "s*xual harrizments" to the villainess I reccomend just sit back and endure it, Because oh boy there's gonne be a ton of it.

... more>> Now talking about the FL (female lead) She's a very devote and loyal to the villainess like LOYAL LOYAL.

She loves the villainess (Claire) to her hearts content, That's why she acts like that.

Now to our villainess! Claire Francois! She's a very very very tsundere character, I reccomend reading the manga than the Novel so you can see their point of view clearly.

Claire in the start is very egoistic, Self-centered person, Especially when she crushes around prince thane.

but worry not! Prince thane ships them both lmfao...

This damn rating is too long lol, Just go read it it's a big 5/5 for me. wwwww <<less

the story is ok, it has it's good and bad moments.

it's heavily focused on the ' how to run a country' politics, which I'm not a fan of, but for the setting it's not too bad. It has plenty of action for a slice of life style story.

other than that the story is quite clever, especially how they handle the Isekai part (why/how did the MC reincarnate/ get summoned to this world?)

honestly, the reason I give this story 3 stars is because of the epilogue, they don't handle it... more>> well leaving the ending quite unsatisfying. Other than that I enjoyed most of the story and was a nice change of pace. <<less

Writing: I should clarify I read the light novels. The writing is pretty good for the main story (the first two light novel volumes), though as many people have mentioned, it's pretty strong on politics and discussions about discrimination and social classes. I think this has the unfortunate effect of either preaching to the choir if the reader agrees, or lecturing the reader if they don't. Either way the reader isn't having a great time lol. But honestly the plot is pretty solid with high stakes, a good amount of... more>> tension, and a happily ever after so it's still a generally enjoyable read.

Now, for anything beyond the main story arc? Completely insane, throws out pretty much any character growth that previously occurred and throws in with a truly bizarre plot. I genuinely cannot recommend reading past the main story arc. The rest of this review will be mostly contained to the main story arc because we do NOT have enough time to unpack everything wrong with the rest

Romance: This is one of those yuri novels where discrimination against queer people does exist, and I do appreciate that the author extends this to discuss transgender themes in a positive light. However, the author does also extend this to in*estuous relationships (/sigh), and it's a main plot point, so I would warn anybody sensitive to these subjects to stay away. Now, the main couple has a sort of tsundere/ masochist relationship that's very played up for comedy. It's hinted quite a bit that both characters are generally fine with this repartee and could shut it down solidly if they truly wanted to but I also can't recommend it to anyone sensitive to the topic of s*xual harassment or anyone who's ever had internalized problems with the predatory lesbian stereotype.

Spoiler

This all being said, the author taps in to something very cathartic for me, which is a concept of queer loneliness. This knowledge that we carry with us that it is so much harder and less likely for us to find people like us, people who are capable of loving us in the same capacity, and what that does to us. A large part of Rei's over-the-top declarations of love and super-comedic masochism come from a place of self-defense and resignation to perpetual queer loneliness. Consequently, a lot of her satisfying growth comes from her moving past that fatalistic stance and taking down her defenses to truly take a stand and a chance to find that love, all while Claire grapples with the realization of her own feelings in her tsundere way. It's one of those romances where neither party comes out unchanged and it's honestly a delight. That being said, it's a 2 volume slowburn with a smash cut to a HEA with kids immediately after they get together. I wish that domestic life could have been eased into a little bit more.

[collapse]

Characters: Now right after I have a whole spoiler-y rant about queer loneliness, I also have to point out that the author cannot resist making everyone sapphic. Truly amazing. We do flock. But the wider cast is pretty forgettable, so I will say if you don't enjoy the main couple, you might not want to waste your time. Rei is slightly OP with her isekai bonus but she works hard and operates on such a blue/orange morality that it's mostly just a fun to see what she'll do next. Claire was a little flat for me at first, but she does eventually grow outside her noble daughter villainess role, especially as Rei pushes her. There are quite a few conflicts that challenge both of their morals and resolves, and the overall character development is pretty satisfying.

Overall, a very entertaining read, and a solid yuri romance. So long as you mind the red flags and remember there's only two volumes <<less

A cute kinda-political novel for leisure reading. It might be the novel for someone, but it definitely wasn't the one for me. Half because the humor wasn't my type, another half because of other factors (other factors being in*est)

The pros: Volume 2 was great. Claire and Rae had proper development and their relationship was cute overall. Not only that, considering that I like the discussion of heavy topics, especially if it's well-addressed, ILTV definitely gets bonus points because it did a great job of it. However, I can see... more>> why people don't like it! Especially when it's called a "light" novel, most people read it for the sake of seeing a cute sapphic couple, and a reminder of reality in fiction is not something that everyone may like.

The cons; in*est in*est in*est. I cannot stress this enough but just this part alone knocked off 2 points from ILTV if we refer to a 10 point scale. It's definitely a thing of the author because I wouldn't see why it was needed to insert otherwise. Unfortunately, I don't like it when an in*estuous couple deemed positively by the series is gonna take up plenty of screentime. Another thing, ILTV had a lot of characters, but none of them had any real development outside our main couple. They were just there as plot devices, or was there for the sake of being there. This seems contradictory considering that politics was a pro in the novel to me, but if the amount of chapters it spent discussing the heavy topics was put into the world-building it could've been better.

It's a shame, ILTV has so many elements of a novel that could potentially be great, but it was hindered by the flaws. <<less

If you are wondering whether to read it or not. You definitely should. It's well written, well paced and has a good story with unexpected twists. People saying that the author wants to dump her views on us but I think this is false. It's just a story about what the character goes through in life

I really tried. Too much political talk, felt like it was taking over the story (or that was perhaps the plot??). Its cute— the MC is likeable and their relationship is slowly.. Slowly developing. Kudos to powerful MC ;) *cough* with her cheats lol

Too much politics. I can't. Might reread in future— if I'm desperate enough.

the author use too much information but didn't use it good enough. 'Water magic' (offering dance) can be used to recover stamina and rei can use magic strengthening, but she still struggle when she choked by philaine. When she can think something more elaborate why can't she think simple solution ?

magic aptitude and magic capacity, at the early chapter the only thing mentioned was only magic aptitude. Author never mention whats the difference between aptitude, was it efficiency ? Or mana usage ? Or capability skill ?. I'm sure... more>> rei mentioned that her healing magic efficiency was below philaine's.

good plot while I was wondering why rei so persistent to make claire experiencing 'citizen life', finally I got the answer thought dor and salas scheme never explained how they hide the evidence. Well its better than to use some sloppy explanation.

well I think we can expect volume 3 since the pope mention about rei body thats she currently use <<less

Pretty funny and easy going story. It's entertaining to read. The story construction is the usual reincarnated into an otome game scenario, yet it has kept it's own sort of charm from beginning.

Relatively short, tightly focused, and contained in scope. The banter between the protagonist and her romantic pursuit is clearly the highlight of the novel. Includes a minor amount of combat, a fair amount of politics, and a lot of relationship and character-centric content that I can only describe as much more breadth-than-depth, but certainly more than the average WN. The story is very well planned-out up until near the end; however, some characters inevitably drop by the wayside because of the central focus on the protagonist pair. In the end,... more>> this is an enjoyable read for the central relationship and the tightly paced plot progression, but don't expect magnificent dungeons, epic monster fights or an overly complex world. The story does not so much shine as lack flaws. <<less
