If you're looking for some sweet and slow bl romance, this is the novel for you.

The pacing is one of the best I've seen among all the bl novels I've perused. There isn't too much inner monologue that you would usually see in Japanese web novels, which is a nice change.

The best part is that although this is story has romance, that isn't the only thing the novel has to offer. I was very surprised to see politics sprinkled in

Spoiler

and the way Vio's brother and parents treated him caused my blood to boil

[collapse]

There are even fight scenes with swordplay and magic. Moreover, the mechanics of magic aren't glossed over like in other novels. It's clear that a lot of work and thought was put in writing this story. <<less

I have already read the raw, not until the latest update though. The romance is slow-paced, it doesn't feel rushed or pushed, and above all, it's very sweet with a bit bitter mixed. I like how story unfold, I can feel the author's seriousness, passion in writing. It's not all about romance, but also about a very little bit of politics and serious fight in swords and magic.
Spoiler

the politics parts were not mainly played by protag, but by others but the protag's heavily involved

[collapse]

I think the fight scenes were written well, the author even made a theory on magic in this world, the magic structure, components, etc
Spoiler

(the protag is a magic hobbyist)

I haven't read much BL novels, but I think this one is pretty well balanced and well written compared with other BL novels I have read thus far (in BL category, my #1 favorite)

I think the component between romance, fights, and slice of life, is well balanced. Overall, I really recommend this novel, 4.7/5 (the -0.3 is for a bit of plotholes in the story, but I think since the story is enjoyable, it doesn't really matter)

Spoiler

One of the plotholes I have been unable to understand is how come he became so traumatized to what happened to the original host, I'm quite sure it's the soul transmigration/possesion, not the "old memory resurfaced" type, but well for this part I think maybe it's just that the original host's memories are much too vivid when he had them replayed in his brain during his fever, so it felt like he experienced it himself

[collapse]

Edit : I caught up with the latest release, this is really good.

Spoiler

This even has a war arc! I thought it would never happen! Seeing how the author wrote the story thus far, I kinda expecting it to have war strategy included in the story, since the author has been so thorough in writing this story

Slow burn, and honestly, it makes me want to cringe. Idk Japanese novels sometimes give me this weird cringey vibe, especially when the setting is Western fantasy. Is it just me? It feels like something I'd write in my preteen era lol.

Super Recommended!!

This novel emphasis more on the story. There's also romance but it was slow pace. Their romance-relationship come after the master-servant relationship.

The MC (uke) not that girlish, though he is super pretty. He is quite manly and I guess too kind~ well he is a modern person so its understadable.

The story is still ongoing and the author often updates. This is a mix of sweet and bitter story though, also lots of politics. You'll feel like riding a rollercoaster when reading this novel.

So... Just Do (reading) It!

Reading this reminded me of why I've stopped reading japanese novels recently. The passiveness and excessive kindness is a trait they all share and Violant, the MC of this novel is no exception.

Regardless, this novel feels very well written and the side characters are quite developed. However, the MC is a holy mary that can never get angry or hate someone despite the fact that they tried to kill him or destroy him.

The MC acknowledges that the timeline of the story has changed somewhat yet he believes his family will... more>> be destroyed no doubt. Since the Leca flowers could change the town he's in, has he never considered what could happen if his family never faces doom?

Stuff like this bring me out of the reading experience so I simply could not get behind the angelic halo of the MC. That said, I would recommend this novel. I liked it even though it might seem otherwise. <<less

Im not sure if it is just me because I prefer Chinese novels.. But Japanese novels is not giving me that satisfying feeling.. (I do love mangas and anything Japan but LNs just gives me this plot with a lot of unsatisfaction.. Im sorry)

Since this is a Japanese novel, it suprised me for its transmigration setting.. But I think the transmigration plot was wasted tho. It could just start as the story itself. The MC didnt even act as his own (a transmigrator) since he has received the memories... more>> of the original body and acts very normal.

Although Im still at the start of the story, Im questioning myself for continuing it.. The novel was translated very well with the prose and all the wordings. Im just looking for spoilers or teasers to look forward to so that I will be motivated to read more of it.

  1. The setting reminds me of +C: Sword and Cornett manga (a story of a prince with his knight and etc) and of Akagami no shirayuki-hime manga..
Maybe it was just me getting my hopes up because of the prologue but I love the imagery in the novel. <<less

A slice-of-life story about a young noble boy who was betrayed by his protector, scorned by his family, and banished to a small town on the outskirts of their territory. Never leaving the mansion, he tries his best each day to be a good lord and take care of his people. He is well-loved by his servants, citizens, and his new dog-like knight.

So far, this is a simple read with relaxed pacing. The main character is reincarnated, but he is fully integrated with the original personality and his knowledge of... more>> future events is barely mentioned or used.

The translation quality starts out good, but after switching to the 3rd translator, it became a lot harder to read due to lots of grammatical and continuity errors. (Maybe the new translator is doing MTL or is not an English speaker.) I appreciate their hard work, but it does make it a lot harder to enjoy the story. <<less

Ah sh*t I thought it's completed! Lol I binge reading this for 3 days straight. It took the author 3 years to get to this point. Welp, beggars cant be choosers.

SPOILER LOVERS WELCOME.

First of all, this reminds me of akagami shirayuki hime world setting. Except this is silver haired.

I'd like to think that Vio past life as more as a fragment of memories. So Vio is not completely taken over. He just gained a bit of knowledge imo.

The story is a bit complicated but with a solid foundation.

Plot holes

Spoiler

Elst (Vio's father) was ruthless and even wanted to kill Vio in the end but yeah, not to the fullest extent? There's a family tradition that created such personality. But he was crazy in love with Viola (mom).

Then my question is, why the duck you make love to viola, got babies, and wanted to kill yo own babies? Dude? You sane? And viola purely in love with the duke as well. HmMmMmmmm??

But maybe that's what the author wanted to reveal slowly.

I wanted to believe the Duke threaten Vio for Vio's own good.

-------

There was a brief mention how vio's family acted as the royal family's shadow. I assume his family was actually a shield for the royalties. Let all the bad things smeared on the shield to keep the royal family clean.

I should've put spoiler in an organized manner. But I wrote this review on impulse back then. Now my memory is a bit hazy (abt the names)

I'll be back lol

I like the order of the story and yea, Vio slowly creating his harem without knowing //wheeze

I'm at the battle between Duke and Ruslan arc. So maybe this will end by next year. Damnit xD I shouldnt have binge read this.

Spoiler

Btw, Orpheus (Vio's bro) is more like a.. Tsun? But not the shy tsundere. There's a reason to why he behaves the way he is.

And its Orpheus x Rasil at ch 300 ish. But more abt the past and their interactions.

Rasil wanted to know the reason behind his lil bro's death. Thats why he kept pestering orpheus but slowly got attracted to him.

And Orpheus had suicidal tendencies. Not self harming. But he kept on saying "kill me if u want to know the reason" To Rasil. And always had opening only towards Rasil. Orpheus would openly accept his own death. He wanted to die so much but because Yud's last request, he couldn't.

Yud (rasil's lil bro) was the first and the last friend of Orpheus.

The same case as Vio's manga version. Vio in manga ver was ruthless after Erik's betrayal.

The story has only just started, but I'm enjoying it so far. The vivid imagery really brings the magic to life. Violant's struggles with PTSD are not side-stepped and forgotten, so I'm looking forward to see how his character develops. The background information for Violant is well-done and summarizes his family situation and situation in the town appropriately.

I have really been looking forward to the updates for this novel. I feel a ton of hope and anticipation toward its progression.

I don't love it, neither do I hate it.

There's a bit of city-building, strong friendship, tender first love, politics, schemes and conspiracies.
Characters are flashed out enough, the ML is very decent, respectful, trustworthy, dependable, always puts the MC's wishes and well-being first, he isn't r*pey or even just pushy at all (up to where I read).
I love him.

For a Japanese western-fantasy novel, it's clearly one of the better ones.

... more>> But it has the typical problems many Japanese novels (and Manga) have.

MC's has a serious case of Shojo-heroine.
He's the most beautiful person ever, hated by his family but loved by everyone else (even strangers), helpless damsel in distress, naïve and dense, too helpful and compassionate for his own good, never does anything wrong, and he's the biggest goody-two-shoes on the planet.

It's quite sickening.

Despite him being a transmigrator, he fits in right away, maybe his origin plays an actual role later in the story but up until now it's just a golden finger he uses to bring wondrous modern inventions to fantasy-mediaeval-Europe, without any drawbacks like not being able to adapt to this unfamiliar world.

Just overall your typical ultra-perfect, super lucky Manga-MC.

If you are into fantasy, very slow burn romance, and are immune to Shojo-heroine-syndrome, then try it out, you'll probably end up either loving or hating it. <<less

This should be a 4.6 or 4.7. There are actual side characters in this story with REAL, developed personalities. One of those side characters is a woman as well, which is extremely rare in BL novels.

The MC and ML are super cute. The ML is a large attractive guard, who is actually a nice guy. He’s shy, but also very straightforward at the same, which is refreshing. He also doesn’t sexually harass or manipulate the MC either.

This story is a wholesome read and the romance is very, very slow. Not recommended for those who enjoy fast romances. Spoiler below!!

Spoiler

The MC has a really low self esteem due to being abused by his brother and father (Mother and sister are kind though) for being weak and unable to go out of the house. MC was unable to go out due to trauma of being betrayed (and stabbed, which adds to his fear of swords) by his trusted knight, Erik. MC was sent to the countryside and left there. MC was a good lord and the townspeople really like him. He got a knight which was passed down by his brother as his bro fired him (for being a commoner with a huge sense of justice). The knight was given cash in advance and thought MC was a bad person until he met him. The Knight, ML, then manages to persuade MC to hire him after loads of incidents later. Then loads of stuff happened like his sister visiting and all that. MC finally manages to not be traumatized about the outside world after saving his sis. I stopped at chapter 30 so I'm not really sure what happened later but I know that MC was invited to the ball and talked to the prince in his room (not a love interest tho) .

This is really good and I recommend this for people like me who enjoy slice of life and slow romances.

One thing I've noticed from the start is that the MC is way too pretentious, masking it as innocence/naivety. But one thing is clear, his character is annoying.

The novel is well written, but ultimately this one's not for me, so I'm dropping this one.

As always of typical jp BL novel, the MC is too kind, helpless and dense to the extreme. But overall I like the plot. I like how violant try his best to overcome his trauma.

However, he is too dense to understand the love that directed to him.

Not much has happened since it's evidently a slow burn but it's very much enjoyable and I really like the character dynamics between ML and MC. I also like MC's circumstances as someone who has both transmigrated and has had to deal with the aftermath trauma. I hope the romance comes soon!!

The world building is okayish. The characters are somewhat interesting but a bit 2 dimensional because of the cliche trope used, like the bunny maid

there are beast people but only bunny cat and bird with wings so it feels quite shallow

Concerning the romance, super slow burn.

at least the ML is early « aware »

concerning the couple, or more precisely the MC, aka the bottom, is is just too humble and self deprecating to my taste and feel insulting for the people around him
Spoiler

Vio keeps insulting the people around him.

Him not acknowledging his own beauty is an insult to husband mother who he had acknowledged looking alike.
Him thinking he isn’t unworthy of the people around him’s loyalty or not acknowledging their liking of him is like saying they are greedy people who only think about prestige and money.
And asking the prince to not kindness him and to forsake him when the time comes is denying Ars’s righteousness and sense of justice.
It just pisses me off how I too often see Japanese write bottoms as delicate humble flower who doesn’t know their own value, which make them into vulnerable and obvious beauty to be treasured and protected.
And I hate how sheltered he is from all the filth of society. He wouldn’t be so self deprecating if he opened himself to the world and heard Moreno people acknowledging him, his talent, his skills and his beauty
