this is one of the few non-tr*sh stories here. Serious tone, extremely rational characters who feel real. Everything that happens makes sense, and while that seems like a basic success, it is extremely refreshing to lose oneself into a story like this one. It feels like a real book, even if it is more thin and skeleton-like compared to a fleshed out fantasy novel from the likes of brandon sanderson or george RR martin.

However, sometimes it feels like the MC gets taken for a ride and the story progresses with... more>> him being a passive protagonist. And while the fault always lies with the author, there is some sympathy as the passive MC problem feels more sourced from the book's world rather than the author's own inability to make the character take charge of his own life. Yes he struggles and rarely succeeds on his own, yes the reason he lives until now is because of other's generosity, but you dont really feel the MC is written badly, more so its a product of him being tossed into the fire. When the MC is able to act on his own, his abilities and powers feel 100% earned, and that is the reason why this novel is so good imo. Im just waiting for the author to be able to give us a little more MC independance and individual freedom rather than perpetually facing 1 more "genius" who is yet another step higher than the MC.

to put it succinctly, it feels like the author is just hauling ass towards the plot, but is forgetting to smell the roses. Many shit-tier stories on here bath the MC in an abundance of attention and wonder, a rainforest of self congratulatory writing and m*sturbation, while this story is masochistic and barren, almost an exercise of despair as it brutally climbs upwards, raising the stakes without ever appreciating the view. All work and no play makes jack a dull boy if you know what I mean.

despite all that, I fully recomend this novel, its like chewing on ginger to cleanse the palette in between consuming "OP MC harem isekai novels." And even judging it alone it is just a solid read, I may make it sound like a brutal, despair filled story, but its not that bad. I can guarentee that if you enjoy watching character growth, up until chapter 71 you won't be let down. But if you dont like how the people around the MC refuse to fawn over him like the second coming of jesus (until like chapter 60-70, people are more impressed that he hasn't died rather than his abilities), how there is 0 romance (as of this review, there are some tiny hints that romance *may* happen like 100 chapters from now lol), and how the MC more or less survives because of other's help, then you will most likely not like this novel. BUT STILL, try it out. I fully believe this is an underrated novel. <<less

I have to say this is fantastic, the beggining is annoying since he has a major inferiority complex and is always pushing himself down. However he overcomes this through suffering and hard work the character development is amazing really looking forward to reading more

So tr*sh I have to make a review.

I won't comment on the storyline because there is a clear division among people, but the author's writing style is a hot mess. He builds up seemingly important plotlines to then proceeds to skip over them. He create theses nonsense stream of consciousness that are both annoying to read and contribute nothing to the plot. No other characters have any sense of urgency, they feel like puppets created to help the protagonist in someway without any purpose of their own, we see them... more>> with no goals or aspirations to speak of so they just feel flat. Overall what a waste of time. <<less

A lot has been said about the story already. Its better than average and decently engaging.

The real problem is the translation. It was translated by several different groups, with some chapters being absolutely unreadable. Especially starting around ch. 76. I'll be dropping this novel, not because of the story but the translation.

The story is tr*sh. MC does not have any goal or motivation. He got transported to a different world, so what. I dont think he was the prince of Korea in his original world either. So he could just live a normal life (Open a shop, get married and spend the rest of his life like a normal human from earth). But then we would not have a novel to read would we. But in order for the story to proceed we need some kind of goal (and not... more>> a goal of some chick asking him to catch up to her after 10 years), I am talking about a solid goal like obtaining immortality, or making tons of money or being at the very peak of the world. Heck I would even accept if he wants to save his little sister or some how chase some unrequited love from previous life. But there is no such thing to keep the story moving.

99% of the monologues are him complaining about having no talent when he is already a S class at the age of 18. Mind you the other S classes are at the very least 35+.

I could have still plowed through the shitty story just for the sake of it but the translator changed to the worst scammer at around chapter 68. And because of that nothing makes sense anymore as asian hobbyist is famous for just copying MTL with a few snarky comments in the middle of the passages. F*ck asian hobbyist translator, f*ck the MC and f*ck the Novel as well as the author. I am out. <<less

Basically you got a chara name Iode (official manhwa) or Eward (tl-team novel) from D*mn R*gr*ss**n as MC

He had no talent but he got 2nd life, and in his 2nd life he met a powerful friend and any famous chara in the future. He's much better than his dog-like past life but he always grumble at how he had no talent. Does ever person who succeed always a talented/genius person? No. Those who know and accept their weakness was wise man. If you cannot change nature, change your view of... more>> life and you'll able to live better life.

In short, a story about no talent dude got 2nd chance bcs he had fruitful meeting with people in the 2nd life, and could have better life but rather than be thankful, he rarely appreciate his achievement bcs he still envy those who talented. <<less

I rate this a 3* and not 2, because I really did enjoy the novel.

My first -1 would be for the redundant explanations, the author just tend to over explain everyhing that there were times he write a succeeding paragraphs with the same meaning.

Second -1 would be for the bad fight scenes, I tend to be more patient when it comes to fight scenes coz' it doesn't translate well in written form. However, the author wrote it in an explanatory form instead of the usual descriptive actions. To give you... more>> a clearer example would be, "The MC stab his spear, because blah blah blah blah +1 paragraph long blah blah".

My last -1 would be the convoluted plot, the author wants to make the novel as complicated as possible, that he just ruined the first couple of hundred chapters of the MC's hardships, with his fate/destiny BS. It would be a massive spoiler if I explain it though.

+1 since I enjoyed it, it distracted me for a week. <<less

(Practically everything I said is a spoiler, so I'm sorry)

I simply loved PN until chapter 100, the plot, development, characters, the MC knowing that he is not a genius and that he would never become one, but still continue, the unexpected friendships that the MC cultivated (even if it was for hack, the poor guy didn't know), Oh my, I really liked it. Mountain training will always be the most spectacular thing I have ever read.

However, after chapter 100 and that training, which in my perspective was hellishly perfect, MC changed a lot, it's like after 1000 years not only had he changed, but the very essence of the character had been transformed. Damn, I loved his personality, but then the author managed to screw that up and turn him into another cliché MC. F*ck, I didn't even care that he was a f*cking weakling, let alone that he was finally strong enough to stop being overlooked. I just wanted my baby back 😔

I like to write my reviews as I read so that I can see how the story develops and changes. Not to mention that my opinion will also change and hopefully I can accurately reflect how I felt about the story. As of chapter 44, I'm impressed with the story. Not from a story writing perspective as to call it genius would be an exaggeration. Far from it, it's a very typical story. In fact I will go so far as to say that there was has not been anything... more>> thus far that I thought was impressive as far as writing, story building, etc goes. What draws me to this story is this. A unique enough story to where I can't relate it to something else (at a glance) and a character with iron-clad perseverance. Neither of which are new to stories but I am writing a review. And reviews are opinionated. You could gather from other reviews that the writing is not world class, the stories aren't unique, and the world building isn't Tolkien. But if you're anything like me then you can't deny that there's nothing like a story with a hero who succeeds through perseverance. And that's what this is... to me at least.

If you hate the block reviews, here's a TL:DR. Clears eye, full heart. Can't lose. Give it a try. <<less

this novel is bland and boring it isn't bad but it isn't good either the MC is complete beta and has the intelligence of a child. The story is filled with random power ups falling from the sky and the pacing is horribly awkward and so is the dialogue. This novel doesn't deserve the rating it has and it's just a big disappointment.

The real rating is 3 stars.

The story has great potential however it is ruined by the sudden development of a hero complex by what started out as a mercenary type character. The character development is forced in the latter chapter and personally the most intriguing aspects of the story were the difficulties of achieving high martial skills through hard work.

His epiphany which comes later on seems forced and illogical. Essentially having the mentality that as soon as he gains strength he automatically becomes guilt ridden and starts doing irrational actions.

Its... more>> a shame because it had quite a bit of potential.

Other than that if you like what seems to be a typical korean semi heroic protagonist. Go for it. <<less

Don't get baited by the high number of five-star ratings because this novel is tr*sh!! The main character whine every chapter about being weak and untalented. Yet, he doesn't do anything to deal with it despite having gone back in time and having every girl he meets showering him with gifts. By gifts, I mean

This review is for everyone, and for the novel.

My rating is; 3.5 Stars.

The main character is pitiful in a reasonable way, his life ended with him being above average and his life started with himself being above average.

... more>> His motivations are half-hearted, he feels like he could change his fate die to future knowledge.. but also feels like he'd still remain above average.

Which isn't an above average mindset like someone thought before me.

It's one that's given up on themselves, but hopes to change.

And this is also for someone who says that other mc's are overpowered unreasonably. They aren't.

The reason they became so powerful, is because they were determined to exploit their future knowledge and become the best. This character doesn't have such determination, he's hesitant to keep on going.. to do or die.

And that's why he isn't overpowered, because he's hesitant. He doesn't take risks, he's steady.

Let's say you the one reading this, travelled back in time before everything boomed.

You know... if you tried, you could become a billionaire easily. Just give some money to apple before they become unavailable, give the idea for the steam engine or something similar.

Bam, you've just made yourself rich. That's what these characters are, above average people with motivation to change their lives.

But this MC doesn't have such motivation, that's why he's not op[At least not in the beginning stages] because he doesn't have the mindset of someone willing to grasp their opportunities. <<less

It's a good novel. The world-building is great, and I like how it's a mix-match of eastern martial arts meets western fantasy magic and all. The initial plot isn't bad too as you get a story of a no-body getting over the huge wall that is the lack of talent, skills, and abilities of a genius to become someone great through their struggles.

However, over time the plot becomes annoying as an extreme downside is the MC and his inferiority complex that keeps coming back and essentially denying his character growth.

Each... more>> arc so far is the MC going to a new place, meeting very powerful people that help trains him, and give him words of wisdom to enlighten him and improve his views. Only to be destroyed at the beginning of the next story arc and makes him go back to his inferiority complex... after a while, it's like everything he learns in the previous arcs just gets tr*sh and he starts all over again <<less

This novel is good, I'll say that. From zero mentality to one. At the begining, he didn't want to do anything because he felt if himself is a tr*sh. Afraid to do something new until someone beaten some sense to him. And again. And again. The character development is a solid 5* but the pacing is too fast for my liking.

While the translation is usually inconsistent and all over the place, the character development of Lee Sungmin is a joy to watch from incompetent loser with an inferiority complex to a confident peak warrior or whatever the level is phenomenal; Be forewarned while the author isn't blatant they occassionally go of into rascist tangents, but they aren't notable and as far as I know can just be glossed over.

I'll first start off by saying that I do enjoy reincarnation novels in where the MC gets stronger by what they learned. Even going into this novel I knew that wasn't the type of novel I was going to be reading. Instead the MC was going to be just a bit better than in their previous life, and i've seen protagonists turn around their situation with their limited ability. With the way the worldbuilding is presented so far I do see our MC making the kind of strides he's hoping... more>> to accomplish, but I certainly don't think his adventure to get there is going to be that interesting to read. I acknowledge that I have read 21 chapters which as of this time is only out of 133 chapters, but even so the way the plot is progressing it certainly isn't bad, but it's just not that enjoyable. I have a backlog of other novels I wish to read, and I'm sure they are going to be more interesting than this novel, but maybe once I'm done those I'll consider coming back to this as a light read. <<less

138 chapters later and MC isn't the most broken character in existence. Who knows. This may change but so far it's pretty good. MC works hard to overcome his goal of becoming stronger than his teacher/rival/friend. (Pretty much all you need to know to start reading if you asked me.)

There have been a couple pretty strange plot points/powerups but I chose to ignore them. (Listed below. Don't read if you want to avoid spoilers.)

The centuries he spent in his mind. It happened a bit too easily I feel. Sure our MC is self-deprecating but is that really enough to not go insane when others that are actually talented have stayed for a comparatively much shorter time period?

Heoju. Like where'd this dude even come from. He just shows up and gives MC a ridiculous power boost. This might be where MC starts becoming unstoppable.

Great.

Amazing.

Moving.

Those are the three words I'd like to say concerning this novel. The part about his self-depreciation and worthless self-esteem at the start may seem annoying to others but once you get past that, you'll start to understand that there is more to this novel than meets the eye (or in this case, the first fifty chapters or so). I like how I can relate to the MC. It's realistic in terms of weak to strong character development. He also becomes a bit more badass in the long run (which... more>> is awesome hehe).

Anyway, there's a lot of mystery concerning the MC as well, like
Spoiler

why does he seem to attract goodwill from others so much? Who is the entity behind him? Who is Endvirus (sp?) etc.

It actually gets better the more you read so try it out. (Although if you really don't like, don't read it then lol) <<less
