Loved this, absolutely tragic. I was still hoping at the end that MC while have a "happy" ending with ML1 or ML2 or even just without them, however it is what it is. Made me cry buckets of tears.

One of the most beautiful and sad things I have ever read, I cried a river and I will do it again. No one deserves sto be cheated on, all he wanted was to be happy but he couldn't even be left alone to start over...

3.5/5.

This is a short angst drama about cheating. There were a lot of gut punches, which I appreciate from an angst read, but it isn't tragic enough for tears (imo). It's the perfect read when you want you want to feel twisted up, but you don't want the rest of your day/week/whatever bogged down by post-read depression.

On the positive, this novel is exactly what you think you're going to get from the tags and synopsis.

On the negative, I hate all of the characters. They're not drastically unrealistic, but they're melodramatic.... more>> There's a decent amount of dialogue that is very "oh woe is me". While, it's 1. Not untrue and 2. Delivers some gut-punching, I ended up not liking any of the characters. <<less

i didn’t plan on writing a review because usually for an angsty piece I would just rate without commenting but I feel like I had to say something for this...

while reading, there were multiple times where I stopped to think of the reason why MC didn’t leave the moment he found out about ML’s infidelity because if I was him I would pack up, beat that mf up and leave after taking everything from ML. so I went online and searched “why do people stay with cheating partners” and most... more>> of the answers. I got was because people fear having a change in their life.

to everyone who read this, if your partner is cheating on you, leave them. live your life. do not drown in self-pity and sorrow like MC
Spoiler

even though he did got freedom for himself at last. (at least I think so)

[collapse]
leave them and do not take them back. if possible do not even think of giving them second chances. you deserve better and do not settle down for somebody who thinks you’re replaceable :)

however I do understand why MC was hesitant about leaving, just that I wasn’t really satisfied and it may have something to do with my personal views.

i hate the ML thats it nothing else to say.

Having only read the translated version, I reckon that the story would have been better in Chinese cause it seemed like the writing style is more towards the abstract side (also something that is not that easy to translate). I think the author did a decent job in portraying the realistic side of cheating and the devastating effects it may have on those involved. Even with such short chapters, it does not seem lacking in substance and everything did tie up nicely in the end despite the "sad" ending.

Summary:... more>> short story + "sad" ending + abstract/flowery style <<less

This is a harsh reality novel about a player and a loyal man
Spoiler

about MC who deeply in love with the ML for like 12 fudge years, MC is the -I give u everything in da world- type. At first they like other couple, very sweet then ML afraid he will get bored with MC then ML f*cked bit*h n sluts so ML won't get bored.

MC can't keep up anymore after 12 years, MC sees ML in love with his new friends. MC want break up to keep his sanity still, ML response with his trade smirk and raised eyebrows while saying YeZ u can go now.

Then MC finally can have a calm life but then scum ML begs forgiveness for MC to go back. MC then back to ml, ML still think MC deeply love him even though MC go back cause he's forced by circumstances. ML after getting MC, force MC to have interc**rse MC say he's sick but bastard ML say ur here anyway so let's f*ck.

Mc's depression getting higher n higher until he snaps at ML then cut his own legs cause ML won't let him go so what use his legs for?!when MC in hospital, he's already determined to get his freedom and yes, yes he got his freedom 🤧. That scene was beautifully done by the author n translator (thank you) , I was crying n smiling at the same time.

Actually after MC got hospitalised ML gradually got his memory n when they in love, ML worked hard to make MC mood brighter now he's really want MC to stay until old age. But you reap what you sow.

The conclusion is : When you got cheated once, never get twice, because it will be more hurt thrice. <<less

the ML really is f*cking shitty. I wished that MC really could've had his happy ending, without the ml. Ml's the most s*upidest piece of sh*t i've ever seen. Not letting MC go, when he himself sleep with others and loves others? I hate bad endings, which is why I read the spoilers of this before actually reading it. Even though, I knew what would happen, I still cried when I reached the end of the novel.

mc's really strong, he's just in love. ML should've respected mc's wishes when he... more>> wanted to leave. It's heartbreaking seeing MC believing again and again in ml, which only ended in mc's disappointment.

Spoiler

MC even watched the whole process of ML falling in love with someone else, it was all happening right in front of him. He's been through so much, the ending for MC can be considered as a happy ending from this pov. He finally escaped everything.

[collapse]

i find the second ML pitiful too, he, atleast towards the end, was truly in love with MC. He accepted the mc's wishes, wasn't selfish and genuinely wanted MC to be happy.

the whole thing was extremely painful to read, just imagine experiencing it.

i feel like beating the ML up.

my heart has been torn out and stomped on. <<less

Right now, I'm currently writing this review with snot and tears still running down my face. It's disgusting I know but f*ck This laozi just wants to burst into tears again! The emotional lessons this novel has given me makes me just wanna suffer all over again to read it.

While I know that some people might not like this novel as it has too much angst in it, but please give it a try. I went in thinking my heart was gonna get abused because of the weak MC. And... more>> in the end, my face was slapped. As you read this chapter, you won't feel as if Ah why is the MC making himself suffer like this instead Ah this person is human too. Humans make mistakes and perhaps that's what made this novel amazing for me.

I think I cried more in the author's note at the end instead of the whole novel... Or maybe it just made my sobbing worse? The author is too frikin kind. And that sentence is not sarcasm OK! She really is awesome. And thank you for the translators for picking up this novel. I feel really glad I read this masterpiece.

Now it's time for me to imagine of what a previous reviewer about the reborn ML idea. And maybe sob all over again.

Jiayou! For the future readers of this book o7 <<less

Heartbreaking... You feel the inevitability of it all - they're in too deep, too stubborn, too tired. There are definitely some lessons - don't accept repeated cheating - it won't end and you'll only end up more hurt and shackled.

A painful yet beautiful book somehow - cathartic

I'm a sucker for tragic stories. One look at the summary and I was already sold. I'm used to the pain. I like sad endings but this ending is one of the things I don't like. That's the only reason why I gave this a 4/5 instead of 5/5.

The writing is above other Chinese novels but definitely not the best. The writer did say she still had the 8th grader syndrome when she wrote this. But it was still beautiful. It managed to moved me but not turn me into... more>> a crying mess.

I picked up some life lessons from this book. One of them is impulsive decisions can really ruin you. This resonated with me because I'm like that.
Spoiler

YanHan's impulsive decisions is what ultimately ruined them. He kept on thinking of what could choice could satisfy his "now" and that lead them to this abyss.

Also WenQing's stubborness in staying with Yanhan. Maybe his life could have been better if he chose to move instead of get cheated on countless of times. Learn to know when to walk away. It's an act of self love and he seemed to lack that. And when he finally did regain it, Yanhan traps him which lead him to his final choice.

All in all. YanHan doesn't deserve any sort of happiness. I don't car eif I'm being a bit*h but he just doesn't. Not after everything he's done.

Though I am a crybaby, I didn't cry at this one.I came here after reading 10 years when I loved you the most wanting to torment my heart. But I feel nothing. (_ _|||)

After reading this story, I came to know why people can't let go of toxic relationships.I was anxious in what way this novel gonna end but I feel relieved and a bit of unwilling at the same time in the end.

I'm afraid what if my future partner turn out like that? And still going on this kind of... more>> relationship suffering everyday. Divorce is easy to say but not easy to do I think. As my mom used to say she didn't divorce because of us (PaPa didn't cheat my mom is just dissatisfied with sth else) . Welp I have never been in a RS and probably will never be XD as I have a very bad temper (・`ω´・). <<less

I simply love this book. It felt so natural and I could see myself feeling the MC's emotions. I could vividly picturize them and my heart felt the pangs everytime.

Although I more often read happy endings, I still prefer these types after all. And it's really rare to come across a book with a sad ending that has a smooth and realistic plot line.

Well, if you are in the mood to be emotionally beaten up, read this.

If you also just discovered that someone you're inlove with is cheating on you, this is a good cautionary tale on what to do next.

It' s this kind of story that's so painful and sad but it feels so real and written so beautifully that you just can't help but love it just like life. Some may think that the MC is just some guy who suffers from stockholm syndrome, but the author whom I admire because of this story made it much more than that. The author created different depths and described complex emotions tangled between all of the characters quite ingeniously. I won't write about the technicalities or whatnot of the story... more>> because the emotions were so gorgeously portrayed that I cant help but to savor it thoroughly.

Try it. Give this novel a chance. If you do just be sure to have tissues in handy...?? <<less

Honestly, I don't have anything to say. After I read this story I just feel numb with unstoppable tears.
I also can't say the ending is Bad or Happy. It depends on your point of view.
The way the author expresses the MC feels, it was so deep. You can feel his pain, despair, and eventually, make you couldn't even be asking "why" he decided it.
It just... you will know if you read it.

As a fan of angst story, this is really good. I seriously couldn't say anything. I love this T^T.
If you can't stand tragedy. I suggest you do not try to read.

I feel like a mental masochist now.. ;-; Why do I like to make myself cry? :C

Aight, so this is perfect if you want to cry waterworks. Kinda irritates me how dumb the MC can be, but I guess that’s one thing you need for a tragedy novel prolonged.

Meaning that the MC doesn’t have the guts to leave (yet) and keeps everything to himself so the torture can be prolonged.

Anyways, 4/5.

Holy hell, for a short novel this one can hit you hard. Even though the novel was said to have a bad ending. I don't think it was one. It depends on how you view it. Personally, I think it was a bittersweet ending. I'm glad that MC finally found his freedom.
Spoiler

Of course, I never wanted to see him die but honestly? It was a better ending than him ending up with the cheating hoe again. Yes, I still want to mu*der the cheating hoe.

For someone who doesn't like angst, this one was great. It's scarily realistic, nothing too edgy. I highly recommend this even if you hate angst.
