What do you do when you wake up and find yourself inside the very game that you love?

What do you do when you realize you that you have not only become an NPC – you have even been thrown back in time to before the game even launched!

What will happen when our protagonist’s two realities coincide?

Han Xiao was a professional power leveler before his transmigration. Using his past life’s knowledge, Han Xiao sweeps through the universe as he prepares for the arrival of the players. This is definitely not your typical transmigration novel.

I love this novel. The beginning starts off amazing with an prison/break out scene which I just loved. He slowly accumulate lvl and power to fight back against the organization and rise up.

It does get a bit tedious middle since the tournament arc isn't fun and a bit of filler, but after that, it becomes amazing again.

Therefore, I would say read the beginning areas, into the outer space area, skip tournament arc, and continue.

Also, it does make me sad we never get to see the old character. Like the daughter... more>> of the old mechanic MC meets very early on. We only got to see the pugilist team member that bought MC's gaunlet later on, everyone else is gone. <<less

How to evaluate this novel? Awesome!

We follow the story of Han Xiao, a normal guy that used to play a VRMMO that allowed player to explore the universe, join different forces and event, and change the destiny of civilisations.

When he woke up, he found himself in the game, before it was launched. However, even while he became a 'NPC' inside the game, he still has the player pannel (with some NPC option, like 'shop' added).

This story is about how, using his knowledge of the future events, and this 'NPC pannel',... more>> he strive to get stronger.

The only "bad point" I can think of, is that the player's role isn't as important as you progress in the story. It feels like towards the end, the author talks about them, and I'm like "oh yeah they're here". However the role of the player has been really interesting during the most part of the story and it was quite satisfying.

I really liked this work. The way he masterfully 'manipulate' people that doesn't know he is a real person, how he change the destiny of other NPCs, how, despite putting his own interests foward, he still help to save people.

The world built is really awesome and the scope just keeps getting bigger, from a sole planet, a star cluster, to the whole explored universe.

It was really a bit emotionnal when it finished it, the end is open, the story could go on, there are still possibilities but the author said that the main text was over. From now on, only stories on some characters will be realesed when the author feels like it. Maybe there will be parts about some players and what happened to them IRL.

Spoiler

The first side story is out, it is about the origin of the Germinal organisation Leader

Ch 1178

The best and more entertaining novel I have read so far. I have been following it since the first good translation it had and it never gets boring for me. Every single day I am checking if there is another chapter and it always makes me want more (the only chapters that I didnt enjoy were the ones of the pro league).

Ch 1463

This was an awesome novel.

A piece of something that could have been regarded as art, yet ruined by the author. Towards the end of story, it is clear as sky that the author had already given up on the story, and they rushed most of the stories and destroyed potential plots.

The main character, Han Xiao, who had never even once mentioned throughout 1400++ chapters how he miss his former world (the Earth) suddenly acted like returning to Earth had been his lifelong ambition. Very peculiar in my opinion.

The threat of small restart, as well... more>> as the big restart had yet to be solved but the story had already come to an end.

Out of many players, why do I have to see the ending from Bun-hit-dog's perspective?

If Earth is a Surface Civilization, then how did he get reincarnated in the darkside cosmos? Why no answer?

Who made the Galaxy game? I'm quite sure that person has to at least possess Cosmos Grade Civilization and at most Ultimate Civilization technology to be able to connect main cosmos to darkside cosmos. But Earth is Surface Civilization. And the Carbon Expeditionary team did not seem to now about it.

RIP Lu Qian, Li Yalin and the other mortals who were once important characters.

There are 6 sanctuaries, each corresponds to the 5 super power systems except the 6th sanctuary. What's inside it?

Honestly, the sanctuary, the iterations, the big restart, the loops, as well as the darkside cosmos had made this novel's world extremely interesting to me and I am extremely disappointed that it ended this way. <<less

I guess the best word to describe this would be "meh". Had good potential and the MC has a slightly above average personality, but it's not anything great. Many things aren't explained, but not in a mysterious way, more in a "I don't know how to properly write this plot point, so I won't mention it." Filled with holes. The MC never loses. He's tied before, but he has never lost (not from what I can remember).

I'd say the most disappointing thing is how the author is developing the MC's... more>> personality. I only read this for the Ruthless MC tag, but he's not ruthless at all, actually. He dislikes "evil" and is only willing to do bad things when he has no other choice (supposedly, but that seems more as an excuse for the author to keep up the anti-here charade), or when the other person is "evil". Although he describes himself as "chaotic neutral", he's always on the good side. I'm also not a fan of the whole "world within worlds" concept, like Renegade Immortal. It's never properly explained why he was transported in this world, nor are any conjectures given. The MC doesn't really seem to have a goal. It appears he wants to fight off an invasive universe or something, I guess? But there is no personal goal. Lot's of moments I consider cringe as well, are the forums, the "warmth" (yikes) and the comedic undertone. The story isn't serious at all actually, and I never really got immersed in it. It's a fairly ok fast-food novel, but it's pretty tr*sh. Would not recommend. <<less

Its alright. I'll just point out the things I think of:

    • Where are the Dev's? You don't hear anything about them so far.
    • I fail to see what disadvantages the Chinese players have that other players in foreign countries don't in the original world. Conflict means more chances for XP gain for players.
    • Skipped out on all the player pro season chapters because it was pretty obvious what would happen when you give a former player the chance to uplift his country's team and barely bother with expanding to other star clusters which apparently are where the majority of foreign country players are.
    • No Romance so far. He had bad experiences with ex-girlfriends. Unfortunately, he doesn't even bother with enjoying his life and its just ambition for more power, fame, wealth.
    • We eventually hear his goal like several hundred chapters in; where he knows a civilization stronger than his known universe will be coming and is preparing for it.
    • No Morality in business. Just all benefits and losses. Neither a good for bad thing.
    • Although he doesn't get lucky all the time, his 1 Luck does not matter. His 2 lucky halo NPC characters that have a skill in luck are able to somehow give him luck if he touches them. I'm pretty sure that's not one of their powers though.
    • Player exploitation; neither a good or bad thing. It would only serve his interests if he did get them to work for him so that's not bad.
    • He's actually smart. He doesn't spill his plans like a 3rd rate villain and keeps his secretive act up so he doesn't spill anything to players.
    • I don't think there's that much racism, but there is nationalism here and there.

Cons:

MC is extremely self-serving, borderline sociopath that doesnt seem to feel any attatchment to either his old life or his new friends, treats both the npc's and players based on pros and cons. This novel isnt for you if you want some friendship bonding i.e. Reciprocated both ways.

MC doesnt seem to have a clear goal like returning to his real world or finding out why he became an npc, just going through the stages of the game he remembers.

There isnt any sense of danger, he is always calm, composed and... more>> usually op enough to get through most situations.

Pros:

On the flipside, the story is interesting. Its fun to see him get new abilities, assets, npc companions (the way he sees it) and the way npc's react to him being a lowkey monster.

Its fast paced and feels fresh enough to not be repetitive.

Tl;dr: Its a light hearted novel about a calm op intelligent npc/player that knows about the future. Not for you if you want serious stuff. <<less

Don't expect brilliant writing or riveting plot. This is a power fantasy, where the MC is fairly over powered. There's nothing really new about it, it is flawed in many ways, but it is very fast paced and as such not a chore to read.

Honestly, just making a decently paced novel, where the author doesn't try to pad the sh*t out of it with irrelevant garbage, gives you such a big boost in my eyes. Way too many other chinese novels love to pad sh*t out and there's very little... more>> of it in this one, mostly just stats when he levels up, or upgrades equipment, but its easy to skip and not overly common.

The general writing stays consistent throughout. No changes to how things work 100 chapters in, like with other novels. Now granted, the abilities, and level ups, and all that are kind of irrelevant. They are there, don't get me wrong, however they don't really matter, and are fairly poorly implemented really. The side characters are alright for the most part, except for the players, who as a whole are mostly there to be his cheat.

So, what can I say ? Its not a recommendation per se, but if you have nothing else to read, and are looking for something easy to digest, with a fast pace, then you can have some fun with it, if you approach it with the right mindset. <<less

To be blunt and concise: this is a power fantasy litRPG story with tight pacing, good action scenes, and decent comedy. On the other hand, the world building suffers from an overblown scale and a lack of logical consequences, the action scenes often lack tension, and the comedy, and the MC's pragmatism, while refreshingly direct, too often veers into full blown sociopathy. Overall, it is a really enjoyable read, and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a LitRPG or just a good, amusing power fantasy.

I kind of get why this is at the top of so many recommendation lists - it starts with fresh flow of the plot, nothing too fancy but it is fast-paced and well-executed. The MC is somehow profit-driven to advance his pseudo-technology power mechanic, but also sets a strict moral limit.

Sadly, the after 300-odd chapters the MC is gifted with obscene power upgrades in the most deus ex machina way and the plot struggles to progress since the author can't create tension anymore. The quality drops like in Swallowed... more>> star
Spoiler

He gets basically unlimited XP from the players by selling them knowledge and the only reason he doesn't instantly powerup to max is due to many advancement requirements that are somehow way harder than for other players.

He also gets obscene amounts of op abilities as rewards from quests. Like casually 12 uses of instant full HP recovery as one of the 5+ such rewards from a single quest

[collapse]

Also the world building has flaws that bug me to death:
Spoiler

Like after many months the players can't figure out there is something wrong with the game- it being a real world- and still thing it is just clever AI. The NPC in the world also are very casual about millions of undieable people spontaneously spawning in their world... even when thousands of players reach level cap of 60, meaning they are as powerful as the top 20 natives there and can do whatever they want like humans in an anarchy game like to abuse their power and simply troll... but the countries still somehow persist and the cities don't get randomly destroyed without automatically regenerating like in games. Yet the players don't seem to cause any damage to that society or suspect it can't be just a game

really noice, not like your typical cn novel with MC hiding identity/power for absolutely bullsh*t reason like safety but not reveal it even after he leave his/her realm/planet. He reveal his identity and use it to his advantage when he have the power to.

  1. Honestly don't get the complain about devs not doing their job to fix what the *storyline* was suppose to be, you have to look at it not from the reader pov, but the character in the novel. The dev don't know what the ending of the story line, the MC does. The devs shouldn't also know what the start of the story is or who it should be, and we don't even know what type of technology is used to build this world the MC is in, be it a supercomputer or something. And people, the author introduce a game-like world, but this world is pretty much a real world to our MC, death mean the end, he can't treat it as a game.
  2. This isn't just a game, it is considered another world, albeit a virtual one. Devs balancing the game? Just why? The god in our world balance the human race? I don't think so. As a reader, you should also seen the interaction between the MC and npc, they are pretty much real life, even small change from the dev would affect the mindset of the resident of that world.
  3. When was there ever a fixed main story line? We only know of this because of the MC going back to the past. If we were looking this as a outsider view from any char in the novel except the MC, we would not even know about the hidden story, the past of special character, the power of special character, their relations, etc. If the you were one of the player, you would think what the MC doing rn is just part of the story, not destroying the original story that was *Supposedly* exist in the previous MC life.
  4. The MC still have the some mindset of a player, so npc is just tool for him to be use, and so he treat them as much., just like how the player are treating the npc. Most npc are just canon fodder, except for some like hila.
  5. honestly just read and not try to think like some reporter, I don't get the point of acting like one, either enjoy it or drop it. This apply to every novel, like watching a movie, no random dumbass gonna write a essay to report on a movie. Unless you get pay for doing that ofc.

It started off a bit bland near the beginning, but got better. When the players start coming in en masse, things heat up for sure! I especially like MC's interactions with players. It's the most creative VRMMO transmigration? I've seen in terms of interaction with real players. Overall, it's a decent novel that develops into a brilliant novel.

Cons: a bit of nationalism (not too bad, just the MC trying to boost his country's rankings), and stat dumps (people kept complaining, but it gets less and less)

Pros: Seemingly well planned... more>> and organized. Interesting side characters. Smart MC who has a sense of humor, but is hella cool and capable of manipulating.

No romance yet. Lots of mysteries. MC has cool fighting skills, and the fight scenes are pretty good. <<less

It's imaginative and the universe is interesting, but those are the only positive points.

The story itself has no actual plot. There's no purpose. The MC got transferred, and knows a lot of things about how things will progress, but what is going to do with it? Become the king, kill everyone, look for a way home? Nobody knows!

The MC is a jerk focused on growing and gaining more tech and power, purely for the sake of becoming powerful? Even the lamest story out there as some reason.

Basically, the author fell... more>> in love with the idea of an sci-fi transmigration novel and wrote it with those two specific things in mind, ignoring everything else. <<less

I must say that it's really not that good. IIRC MC used to be a "Yorozuya" so he does odd jobs which makes him more of an all-rounder so expect him to be good at almost anything from stealing, conning, manipulating, assasination, infiltration & so-on. And as you can guess MC is not one honest guy he's more on the grey side.

What I don't like about this novel is that even though MC is transmigrated into the game MC's attitude is only like a player with only 1 life, I'm... more>> not expecting MC to overly cautious but he just kinda rubs me the wrong way as he's pretty much treating everybody as a disposable NPC then suddenly being nice from time to time what is he a tsundere? I'd like for the author to just focus on the MC entirely as some NPCs have background stories which makes me feel weird as sometimes I forget that they are all just a bunch of data not living humans.

As of now other than getting stronger MC has no other goals which is kinda boring, like atleast make-up some kind of goal to strive forward this is not a SOL novel, like aim for being a pirate king or one piece etc. Even if it can't be realized atleast there is some kind of specific goal.

Also as of chp191 there is no possibility of romance or anything remotely similar as MC stated that he's not interested in women/men/humans.

There are also a lot of info dumps at the beginning which I suggest just skimming it as it's not that really important, even now I skim the histories, skills, abilities, blueprints etc. Yet I can still follow the story without a problem. <<less

I came into this because of the ruthless protagonist tag with everybody saying MC is super smart... I guess there's a possibility that he grows a brain later on, but I've given up on getting there. Pretty much every single character so far is an idiot, MC included. So far it seems to be going for chaos and quirkiness above any logic. The system is really excessive with constant stat dumps, and fights make about as much sense as batman fights (lots of dramatic melee despite having guns and being... more>> said to have "godlike aim").

An especially bad example of the lack of logic when the author wanted to shove in a rival:

Spoiler

MC comes across a camp of travelers, and a young person tries to rob him with a broken shotgun. He just ties up the thief and then ends up staying the night at some random friendly family's home, and the thief steals two guns while he's asleep. He notices the theft and asks for it back, gets one back and just assumes that's it and leaves. He randomly counts his stuff a few hours later and comes back to find that the caravan has been slaughtered by a group chasing him and vows revenge for them. He then ends up taunting a boss of a giant organization, saying "you killed my friend so I'll destroy you all" basically. Bro ffs, you met them for one night and somebody tried to rob you three times! Not to mention he came back while being hunted to try to save them by getting the stolen item back. All this is just so his rival could be killed and revived and now they have undying hatred toward each other?

[collapse]

If you really like Marvel movies then go ahead, they have a pretty similar feel imo. Otherwise... it's super popular so you probably should try it anyway, but I'm giving up here. <<less

Mediocre. Above mediocre at best. Classical good guy travels back into the past to fix the problems of the past. Even if the MC doesn't see himself as such and doesn't act it in the earlier parts, you'll come to realize that he is toward the mid-later parts.

There's not really a story or any overarching goal. He just reacts to the moment and focuses on getting stronger. But really, this is the goal of any MC. Nothing really sets him apart from any MC besides the fact that he's actually... more>> pretty funny and sarcastic during some moments but those comedic scenes will just make you go, "oh, that's a good joke" rather than actually make you lol. If you want something to genuinely make you choke on your spit, go read A Will Eternal. At first, I was a bit intrigued by the novel but it basically stayed the same. With things constantly going the MC's way. He comes out on top, this gets especially bad towards the point that I'm at in the novel. All his close friends make it out alive. And he's got a group of hot babes surrounding him. Like every other generic thing out here. At some point, you can tell the author was struggling to not turn this into a harem.

It's better than the average stuff you find on here, don't get me wrong. But shiny, crystalized sh*t is still shit. Even if at first, the glow makes you mistake it for a diamond. You'll eventually realize upon further investigation, it's just shinier, more pleasing to look at shit.

This really got me good. Over 900 chapters in and when I saw the MC deal with a bunch of things with no problem despite every party being far better prepared, I just realized that this was face slapping and MC halo packaged into decent world building to throw you off. <<less
