The demon is born!

The three realms are in chaos!

A catastrophe for the common people!

The lords in heaven were jittery.

But as they waited here and there, the disaster didn’t come.

100 years later, Ruan MingChi who vowed to devote himself to feeding the demon, finally returned.

While holding the hands of a male, he brought him to the Hall of Marriage. “This is my other half, the demon, JiHao.”

Later, someone asked Ruan MingChi, “How were you able to do it?”

Ruan MingChi could only bitterly smile, “It’s better to ask, how did he do it?”

“How?”

“He… He’s a natural at spoiling people, and I just…”

~~~
Ruan Mingchi, the leader of the human race, pinched his fingers and calculated that the three realms would be in disorder. He decided to sacrifice himself to feed the devil for a hundred years and set up many magic arrays. The demon, Jihao, was deeply trapped in illusions due to the magic array.
In the illusion, JiHao invades Ruan MingChi’s sea of knowledge. He created small worlds and actively brushed up goodwill with the immortal Ruan MingChi.
[This immortal and I are relatives] [This immortal and I are friends] [This immortal and I are classmates] …
After sharing tender feelings for 100 years, Ruan MingChi turned around and left.
Outside of the illusions, Ruan Mingchi suddenly blushed. He was captured by JiHao’s gentleness, and he willingly re-entered the world of illusion.
JiHao later held Ruan MingChi’s hand and said, “Love is always mutual. If you are merciless, how can I be tempted?”
Ruan Mingchi asked him, “Do you still have mu*derous thoughts?”
JiHao laughed, “Dare not.”
If you’re in the mood for another world-hopping novel, then this is one you must read. Unlike the normal ‘died in a car crash and got bound to a system’ trope, this is the story of how a demon travels through different illusions to repair the soul of an immortal whom he’d accidentally killed. I usually read reviews to figure out the gong and shou roles before I read, so here’s the tea - this is one of those rare novels where the MC is the gong and he woos... more>> the shou in every world. Also, translation is satisfactory, and update speed is wonderful. Thanking the translator for their dedication and good work. <<less
Chapter 1 is a bit confusing. If you want to see what this novel is like, read to chapter 3-4.
It's a pretty interesting novel so far, arc 1 was a very good introduction. It's very different from the novels with the systems, because here MC is free to do anything and has the power to do anything. He does not have tasks in each world, just a general goal (that he set himself) and a plan how to do it (but the plan can be changed). The romance starts in... more>> the first arc, but it doesn't just continue on from where it ended in the second arc, but is not completely reset either (I don't want to spoil, but it's handled well.) ML is a little iceberg angel.
At chapter 27, it's not enough to judge the story, but enough to get me very interested. Now, back to reading...
Edit: Finished the story... whoa, that was something! Don't judge the story by it's first arc, I guess.
The story (and MC's character) took almost a 180 degree turn in the third arc. Maybe it's because of MTL, but it felt like two stories of different genres got smushed together. HOWEVER! I'm not changing my rating because
  1. Both parts were interesting
  2. The transition was made relatively well
  3. It is not a mistake on author's part and it both makes sense & is necessary to tell this particular story
  4. No, really, in retrospect everything makes so much sense
  5. I read this in crappy MTL from ch 34 and I couldn't put it down until I finished. I can't really call it 'meh' after reading it for 17-ish hours straight, without pause or sleep.
The ending was too short, though. Why do Chinese writers either cough out 20+ extras (children, side couples, tying up loose ends and so on) OR (like in this story) rush trough the ending like their bu*t is on fire? <<less
I love the plot and the direction of this novel. Gong MC and shou ML, what a great couple. the way they part ways in every arc made me a little sad. Welp I know they can meet in the next world again lol.
The only problem was that sometimes I dont know which part were they talking about...."is this a foreshadow/flashback of it?"... like in the middle of the pharagraphs in the present arc, they would suddenly talk abt the past arcs and I will not know unless I inspect... more>> it deeply....i wish the translator italicized it or marked it.
Anyways, the translation was good. <<less
This novel is so good, the ratings does not give it justice. I am writing a review so that the ones like me who are hesitating to read this novel due to the rating can read it with ease. First I want to clarify that the reason why the ratings are not ideal is because it is quite confusing to realize what world is real and what is not. But as be read on the mysteries unravel with the romance. I believe this world hopping novel has more essence and... more>> meaning compared to others where the MC has to counterattack as a cannon fodder while falling in love.
Spoiler
what I am going to write now is the "real" truth so read at your own risk. It would be better to read the book first then if you dont understand you can read this.
Here the MC is the gong who believes that he has transmigrated into a novel as the villain who has just killed the male lead's (of the book) shifu (the shou or ML). Then, to not be killed by the male lead and not die as the villain he tries to save the shifu using an scroll like artifact. This part I too am slightly confused but the ML sound like a qin spirit or qin has some significance to the ML (I was in the middle of an online class). The MC is trying to fix the string with each string representing a life, to do that he has to 'repair' relations of ML. In the first life the broken string was represented as Family relation, Teacher/student, Friends, Career and love. In the second life we have the same except for teacher/student its pet love. Similarly in third life self love. And in the fourth world is satisfaction.
there is a bigger truth to the transmigration than MC knows which is revealed in the final ch which you need to read to find the truth.
[collapse]
Except for some initial confusion, I cant find much fault in it. This is perfect for binge reading as the confusion which you had is revealed as we move to other ch so if are reading after a certain gap you forget such incidents and what it was representing. What I am saying might make it seem the book is profound but its actually just a fun read.
I noticed that many did not prefer the MC but the problems they pointed out made me like the story as well as the MC even more. In the first world, the feelings that MC have is not so serious almost like a convenience. He reminded me of me when I did not realize that I was in love and was bullying (not exactly) him because of that. The MC does not realize he is in love. In the second world there is a hint of jealously shown by the MC and during the end of which he realizes he is in love. The reviewer above hated the MC especially during the 3 and 4 life but you dont realize that first, MC is a demon he does not have the same moral as us and second the character setting itself makes the MC to act that way (during 3 and 4 life) he cant get too out of character. But for me third world shows how much he loves ML. As I said before hes a demon, the presence of demonic qi makes him more susceptible to evil. He goes on in his mind how he wants to punish ML how he wants to bully him but does not really do it. He is a strict lover and does not spoon feed the shou. All the 'bad' he does is because he's character need to be that way and he likes it because as I said before hes a DEMON.
looking at the title, I thought I would see a heartwarming love story, but turn out xxxxxxx
[collapse]
I must emphasize that I've never ever hate a MC before this story's MC. What a selfish-scumgong MC! But, the story is so good and interesting that I cannot drop this one, and, I also like ML a lot. ML is the main reason I want to know what will happen next.
*Edit after I've read completely*
Spoiler
I start to dislike MC (seme) and how story goes at third arc and totally hate MC at the last arc. What make it worse is that the story is mostly written from MC POV and so we can see how selfish and ruthless he is. The author have to write repeatedly about how he love just to remind the reader of it because as far as I see there's no sincere love at all. I don't understand what author want us to see in MC by making him such a scum (totally different from how first two arcs go), and what ML supposed to see in him to fall in love. I first thought I would see how he love ML in the end, but guess what?
May be I felt unsatisfied because I've been hoping for a beautiful love story based on the story name.
[collapse]
This story might be suited for someone liking but totally not for me. It's interesting though.
There are 4 arcs in this novel.
To be honest, the first three arcs are actually great. I love the development between the MC and the ML and I also love the plot in each arcs.
If the pacing is just like that, then I would've given it a 5 star.
But the last arc really ruined everything. The transmigration was finally explained, but it's really bland and boring.
The plot also made me uncomfortable and there are a lot of plot holes.
... more>>
Spoiler
In the last arc, the ML is split into two bodies with different identities. The main body of the ML is called Ruan Mingchi or something. He cultivates the ruthless or unfeeling tao, so he can't fall in love.
Meanwhile, the split body is called (Ruan Xian'er?) and he's married to the MC.
There are a lot of dramas so I won't type it because I'm too lazy, but one thing is for sure, the next scenarios are really uncomfortable specially for me who take monogamy seriously.
Although I know that Ruan Mingchi and Ruan Xian'er are the same people, I just can't help rejecting the split body. The split body is the embodiment of the ML's emotions, so he's really giving off a white lotus vibe... His personality is really different from the previous ML so it's easy to say that they're not the same person at all.
Although there's a reason why the MC did terrible things to the main body, but those reasons doesn't actually convinced me as someone who have read a lot of dog blood dramas. I just think he's a scum at the split body is a white lotus. The main body just turned into a third wheel in the end, which really dissatisfied me.
This is the first ever review I've written in my life so please bear with me.
The translation was a little wonky especially regarding Chinese idioms and slang words which is understandable but overall, the translation was good and I appreciate the translator for taking time out of their busy life to give us this QT novel.
Regarding the novel, there are in total four arcs. The first arc was my favourite arc as there were more emotions placed into the arc. The arc gave us an insight into the process of... more>> how Ruan MingChi fell in love with JiHao and his reaction towards his own feelings. It felt a little unreal as they got together and spent the rest of their lives together due to the seemingly uncaring attitude JiHao had towards their relationship. It was like he was only just going with the flow and even at the end of the arc, it wasn't sure whether he truly liked/loved Ruan MingChi or not.
The second arc was my least favourite arc as it was quite bland and boring due to the fact that the MCs were so OP that no challenges could get in their way. Any obstacles that tried to get in their way would only be easily broken through by them. The only thing that kept me going through this arc was the MCs' relationship. But that only led to disappointment when as soon as the MCs got together, there was a whole ass time skip towards the end of their lives in the world and we barely get to eat any fluff from them in the arc.
And then the third arc. I cried a lot in this arc. Like a lot. Like snot and everything. This arc was just full of tragedy (in Ruan MingChi POV) and I read a lot of the comments saying about how this resembled killing stalking except with a happy ending. Anyway, I'm not going to comment much about this arc except that you'll cry, at least like a tear or two.
The fourth arc I have nothing much to say about except that all the confusion that was still left after reading to that point will be cleared up after this.
Spoiler
So I'll go into detail more here about what I've read.
As have been said by another reviewer, the first arc is a swimming competition world, the second arc is an entertainment world, the third arc is a master and servant world and the fourth world is a cultivation world (s).
In the first world, JiHao is Ruan MingChi's senior and they are both in the same swimming team. JiHao transmigrated into the body when the original was in the midst of bullying Ruan MingChi due to his (OG) jealousy towards Ruan Mingchi for always being praised by the coach for being good at swimming. In the first few chapters, you'll be confused by the sudden strange information given to you by the author, but that's fine as I'm here to enlighten you as to what was going on.
So, essentially, JiHao was a researcher in his first life and he transmigrated into a book, becoming the Heavenly Demon in the book. He was destined to fight with the protagonist of the book's master, Ruan MingChi, and kill the master which would result in him dying by the protagonist's hand after. He accidentally wounded Ruan MingChi severely after first transmigrating into the story and because he didn't want to die, he planned to go into Ruan MingChi's sea of consciousness to mend the qin spirit (the qin is the spiritual weapon of Ruan MingChi) which will in turn help save Ruan MingChi's soul. It was mainly self-defence that JiHao fought back as when he first transmigrated into the novel, he was already fighting with Ruan MingChi and he (RMC) had the intention to kill.
Now, here comes the truly confusing part as I have also not yet figured this part out. How was the qin spirit related to Ruan MingChi's soul? And why was fixing one saving the other? From what I had gathered so far, I think that it is because Ruan MingChi and the qin spirit sort of fused together. So, Ruan MingChi is the qin spirit and the qin spirit is Ruan MingChi but even though I'm confident with this answer, I'm still not sure whether this answer was the correct one as the author can be really confusing sometimes.
So, in order to fix the qin spirit, JiHao has to enter Ruan MingChi's sea of consciousness and into the illusionary worlds there and fix the worlds. He had to fix 6 worlds in total and he had already failed two by the time he entered the world for the first arc. I won't write about how the worlds are fixed as you'll be able to find that out by reading the novel.
In the first arc, it was about establishing the MCs' relationship. In the second arc, it was about how JiHao chased Ruan MingChi. And in the third arc... moving on, at the end of the third arc towards the fourth arc, when JiHao chased the white beam of light fleeing from 'Ruan MingChi's' body, it was revealed that the white beam of light was, in fact, Ruan MingChi. So why were there two Ruan Mingchi now?
Ruan MingChi (the one being chased by JiHao) used a scroll/painting to trap JiHao in a world of his own making. He sealed the memories of JiHao so that he wouldn't be able to remember anything. But not only did he seal JiHao's memories, he also sealed his own's.
To clarify some doubts about why the JiHao and Ruan MingChi left in the third arc could still live on normally even after the 'souls' left the bodies, from what I could understand, JiHao left a little bit of his divine consciousness in the body so that it could continue to work normally even after he was gone and I can only assume that Ruan MingChi did the same thing either out of attachment or something that I don't know about.
[collapse]
Either way, I'm still upset about how rushed the ending of the arcs were (excluding the fourth arc). The relationships were rather fast-paced (not that I'm complaining) and I would've hoped to get more chapters about the MCs lovey-dovey times but alas I'm not the author and I'm just a reader. I hope that my explanations helped those who are still confused about the story. I'm not sure if I included all of the confusing parts but I'm sure that I've at least got the majority of it. Anyway, thank you for reading my long-winded review and happy reading! <<less
The chapter count on this book seems low, but each arc is quite long (there's 4, and then short real world arc). Starting in the 3rd arc, the story gets a bit confusing, but reading until the end helps pull everything together a bit.
I really liked the initial couple arcs, and sort of wish the author had just continued the "repairing strings" idea until the end. However, after reading the 'explanation' for the transmitigation, I can understand why she wrote the 3rd arc, and also sort of understand the rationale... more>> for the 4th one as well. I think it still makes the book feel like 2 completely different stories though, since there's plot holes in the explanation.
The stories themselves are entertaining more than anything - a lot about the importance of love, and finding that one person to love forever. Nothing to complicated or thought provoking, but it's quite entertaining. <<less
If you read the whole summary (which can be found in the translator's site), you will have an inkling as to the direction of the story. Note that the summary here is only the first part of it and maybe it's the cause of others' confusion.
I dont really have anything particular to say about this novel. It's good to waste your time on as you wait for other novels to come by.
If you paid attention to the flashbacks and read the full summary then the ending would not come as... more>> a surprise.
The story as I understood it, is
Spoiler
when the MC/MoZun was still in gestation period, he was in a coma-like state where he was fully conscious (about the world) but his physical body is asleep. He hid himself inside a volcano and then ML came. MC was fully aware as ML tried to seal him and they entered the illusions. The small worlds are all created by ML in order to 'educate' MC. The world where he was human who then transmigrated into being the MoZun where ML was the master of the protagonist were illusions, as is the case of the worlds in the 4 arcs. The fourth arc may be confusing as it started with MC having no prior memories (the world I mentioned above where he was trying to satisy ML in order to repair the strings was abandoned, as it was not mentioned again). The scroll/painting was what sealed MC inside.
in the first 2 arcs, there's mostly fluff and pampering like implied in the summary. it's peaceful there's minimal manipulation as MC and ML spend lives together in love. in the third arc the toxicity intensifies a lot but I don't think it was absolutely out of nowhere, it was just that there wasn't really a chance for it to show up before.
... more>>
Spoiler
MC is a tyrannical person, he got mad when MC pushed him away and immediately thought of MC as ungrateful for his nice treatment? like, bro- and MC and ml's relationships in the first 2 arcs were based off a lot of manipulation + pampering to mend what "mc" had done in that world before. meanwhile, ml's real self is different from the mls in the worlds which MC seemed to partially forget that or push it out of his mind when spending time with the "qin string" ML but when he came back to the real world he's reminded of this again. he realizes that he already feels deep love for ML even though its not mutual and probably never will be and he hates it, he even seems to go a little crazy. this craziness + his tyrannical nature + the new story of the third arc combine for the intense toxicity and manipulation in arc 3.
i think there couldve been a possibility of healing and less toxicity if MC did more of a slow burn to remedy the previous plot but MC just jumped straight in, continuing the hot and cold treatment because it's in line with what he's feeling and his nature so he wants to. in previous worlds MC had to hold himself back a lot more and put a lot of value in making sure the relationship strings were fixed but now in this world he's given the opportunity to bully MC and he takes it. MC still loves ML but like how they could have a fluffy relationship, due to personalities and backgrounds they could also very easily have a really toxic one
[collapse]
it definitely has a different feel/genre than the previous arcs tho so if you're looking for ONLY fluff, you probably wont like this novel that much. after these 3 worlds/arcs, I feel it kinda goes a bit bonkers. most of the plot is still ok but like someone else said, the lack of foreshadowing and organization ruins it a bit. it almost made me think the author forgot what they wrote before. in the end it still sorta feels like that but instead of completely forgetting, it's more like the author remembered last moment and tried to shove it in... everything gets wrapped up and explained, but definitely not very well. in a sort of story where there's a lot of mysteries it's crucial to reveal everything in an organized way which is something the author definitely didn't achieve. the summary is definitely very misleading too so don't trust it.
overall I wish I wouldve rated this a 4 instead but I already did it prematurely and I dont know how to change it anymore. <<less
Personally, I felt that the entire story was just confusing and although in the end I realized what the author was trying to pull, it didn't quite work because there was a lack of build up and not enough foreshadowing. Towards the later end of the story, the author also went a bit bonkers and confused the hell out of me.
As a result, the first two arcs were fluffy, warm, and lighthearted, and then the third arc to the end of the story was like the truck derailed and hit... more>> you, leaving you with a confused mass of feelings.
Overall, it's an ok read to pass time. <<less
As the other reviewer said, Chapter 1 is a bit confusing, and readers have to read a couple more chapters to understand.
The first two worlds are nice and easy going, and then yeah, the 3rd and 4th arc was a complete 180.
The arcs were like this:
... more>>
Spoiler
Arc 1: Swimming world
Arc 2: Entertainment world
Arc 3: Rich boy and adopted boy. Here, the story is completely twisted and dark.
Arc 4: MoZun and the immortal. This arc was a bit confusing, but it gets explained later.
[collapse]
All in all, I understood the reasons for how it all happened and everything I was confused with in the first chapter were explained.
I actually think that the MC and ML are both pretty manipulative, and the question really becomes "Which came first, the egg or the chicken?"
If you need an explanation after you've read the book, Nikos explains it really well, but I just need to clarify a point.
Spoiler
Ruan MingChi's life force/spiritual energy/qi is connected with the Qin. Just like how other cultivation stories have people connecting their life force with their sword, etc. Which is why JiHao goes to fix the Qin instead of fixing Ruan MingChi.
I also don't really understand the scroll lol Maybe other readers would be able to understand it XD
I'm not saying I don't understand the low rating. But to people who actually finished it, unless it's just not your favorite, I don't understand the low rating.
I admits the first few chapters was a bit confusing. But but but please just continue read the rest of the story....!!! Even though the last arc is also going to be more confusing, but but but bear it!!! Because everything will be Explained in the end and it make sense!!! The Idea is so Freaking Interesting!!! It's Epic! It's Rare! It's Unique!!!... more>> Everything what happened is for the Goal that would be shown and explained in the ending. It's Good!!! Everything make sense when you reach the final chapter!
The story from the first or second arc (i kind of forget when the first hints start) already left hints of things is more than just what the MC think he knows.
It was Absolutely Interesting Plot! I'm not stating this novel is perfect, but it's COMPLETE!!! No hole. Truly Completed!
I'm pretty satisfied with the Ending. Before, I want to say the Summary was a lie, but apparently
I feel like eating but not eating until full, , my heart is in a mess and I feel complicated towards this novel.
This is good altho the story is a bit complicated to understand in one reading, , I read it two or three times at some parts before I know what the author means.
The ending too... feel to abrupt. I am not complaining that it is bad but the ending give birth to an unsatisfied feeling. Like, it should have ended but I want to read it more but... more>> it also has ended. So complicated, my feeling.
The translation, , not as worse as the MTL but I am pretty sure not as good as other translation. I don't want to say that it is bad cause every effort on every hard works need to be appreciated. I am already pretty grateful there is someone who took their time to translate many kind of different novel.
Lastly, thank you very much for novel updates and the translator. <<less
A QT/Quick Transmigration genre story with a more complete background and setup.
The author was pretty ambitious with the story (there's an idea that couples without opposition or getting angry at each other meant not seeing each others' true self, which had some merit) and tried to link the QT setup with an overarching plot, mind tricks, unreliable narrator etc. But, it felt short somewhat in the execution.
Overally, if you like QT-style stories, this one isn't bad. But it's also not super special overall.
Translator is fairly new, the earlier chapters were... more>> very clunky to read, but the reading was smoother near the end.
Appreciate the effort overall. <<less
This book wow... I liked it but wow my head hurts a little bit after going through all the arcs. Like thestory totally makes sense when you finish it but from the start it is hard to understand. The author dives right in (literally lol) from the first chapter and the switch in arcs also makes it slightly confusing until you get a swing of the plot but overall it was a great story with a witty MC and a favoured ML and well done translation. Truly loved the unconditional... more>> love over different arcs though that really was the sugar in the tea for me. <<less
This is such a sweet read. It's worth it, I sometimes couldn't stop myself from binge reading it. Sometimes it gets confusing but all of it is explained eventually. There are also some twists along the way that are not too angsty but get you more into it. If you find it confusing don't give it up and just keep on reading.
