Best praise I can give is to call this a time-pass novel.

Nothing original but its entertaining enough.

Bit of a cross between 'Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint' and 'Solo Leveling'

Couple of the supporting characters are pretty fun (the cheapskate Oh Se-chan, and the super talkative Lee Jin-ah)

Translation quality is also good

The protagonist is the luckiest unlucky person.

The story isn't really worth it. It is something that you read on autopilot.

Well.. It's just a revenge story from the start to the end, with super lucky MC that will have anything if he thinks about it.I recommend reading it if you don't have anything to do...

It's not a very good read. The way this book functions is kind of like pre-set rulebook. Best way I can describe it further is by saying that it's like a REALLY well done skeleton of a novel. Here's why:

  1. It does not have world building. At all.
  2. No character ever experiences any growth other than in game levels.
  3. The main character will always win without any setbacks.
  4. Fights are almost always the same.
  5. There's literally only 1 joke in the whole book.
Rather unexpectedly though, to a certain point anyway, you can absolutely tolerate those... more>> faults. There's still a background story that's constantly being pushed forward, there are some pretty cool items and achievements the main characters acquires/pulls off which gives the reader a feeling of accomplishment and most importantly of all there's also the feeling of satisfaction you get from the perceived superiority if you relate to the character. (Wish fulfillment, power fantasy style)

Unfortunately, after some time even those things start being not enough. Not to mention the little fact that the author just basically stops some explaining items midway through the book due to creative laziness and other stuff like that. Had these 275 chapters been condensed into maybe like 150 and given little bit more work on the aforementioned fault points it would have probably been rather nice story.

So why did I give it three stars even though it s**ked that much? I don't know honestly. It just felt somewhat appropriate. If anything this novel feels like a nice baseline for stuff to read by being.. Well the baseline under which you can never go. Like if it's a book worse than this you should never spend any time on it. Three stars just feels pretty good for that. <<less

So, I just finished the novel. By far this is the best Korean novel I've read so far. It didn't lose its goal midway through. But it strives toward it.

The MC Kim Woo-Jin is a very interesting character, we don't know a lot about his past, only few key-points. But he is very intelligent and the novel would've ended a long while ago if he wasn't this smart. Also, there isn't a lot of side characters, but Li Jin-ah and Oh Se-Chan were amazing and very entertaining.

This novel has a... more>> special place in my heart because it is the only webnovel I've finished. Most of the time, I leave novels because they stray from the main story or get dragged way too much. But KTH didn't do that and ended on a good note, kinda.....

This novel has a lot of action, that is a fact. But if you are entering this novel expecting grand fights like Solo Leveling or Second Life Ranker, then you will be disappointed. Most of the plot in this novel is about plotting and scheming. And the author did the plotting and scheming in a near perfect way. The characters are intelligent, but you won't feeling like they are because of the behemoth that is known as Kim Woo-Jin.

Spoiler

I personally liked the way the story ended, it was an open ending 100%. But the game was not the goal of the story, the goal was to kill Lee Se-Joon and Kim Woo-Jin did just that. I also liked how their fight wasn't like any other cliche fight, but it was a real fight. One where a person dies immediately without giving speeches or talk for like two chapters about their motives.

I also liked the implication that Oh Se-Chan maybe is the creator of the game. Also the I liked the way they explained why Kim Woo-Jin came back, that he came back as a bugfix, to finish the game God created.

[collapse]

Finally, I recommend this novel to anyone who wants an intelligent MC but not a cultivation setting or a modern world. It is not the best story and it is rushed at some points, but I promise the experience is worth it. <<less

This is very similar to emperor of solo play but better so I recommend reading this one first.

Overall I liked the levelling and fighting as well as the scheming. They were all pretty decent.

The ending was kind of disappointing though. Its hinted at why he went back in time but not who made the world a game and we dont even see the last dungeon.

... more>> The author skipped quiet a lot of interesting fights or ended them quickly while the fights we did see were fine but maybe slightly below average.

A lot of times people know Information they have no Access to. They will know what Monsters are in a dungeon and refuse to enter it even though its impossible to know because you have to clear it to get out after entering. They will also know if an item is good or not just by the Name even if they have never seen it before.

I dont like the halo and stat System. Levelling your skills is completly rng you have to wait until your halo thinks you are interesting and then he will give rank ups to random skills. The stats dont make sense either and there are only 3 of them. You get 3 stat points per level up and at level 200 MC has like 6k stat points because of random achievements while other people dont. <<less

I really liked this novel. No romance just "revenge". MC has a goal set in stone and he does everything that he need to do for it. Killing people and robbing people. MC is not really evil but like he kills people. I don't really know what to say but I definitely really liked it it was worth reading and like for me it didnt feel like that perfect amount of charactersand I was capable of remembering them when they came up. MC I definitely op but we'll if you... more>> dont like that don't read it.

All in all I liked it I would recommend to anyone who is thinking about reading it.

Just finished reading this. It's my first KN dungeon novel, so I'm not aware of the cliches and would be biased against this story.

For those considering reading this novel, here's my review:

... more>> 1. Characters: 6/10.

A. Don't expect anything great here. There are only a handful characters here. This is my biggest complaint.

Despite so many dungeons, the world feels small.

You don't get the feeling of a big world filled with real people, instead, it feels like a small play with limited players.

B. There is no character development. You can argue that one single change that happens is MC teams up. The same MC who said he'd never trust anyone.

But that's it.

C. Characterization. It's weak. They're 1-D. They do have motivations and goals, but that's it. They lack depth.

D. Character Interactions. I've just finished the novel, but I can't recall any memorable character interactions.

2. World Building: 5/10

The world feels small. It's dungeons, dungeons and dungeons. I know, this is a dungeons story and naturally, they take the central focus.

The dungeons are above average.

But the rest of the world received zero build up. Dungeons are important, but at least build the world they're in, it'll in turn make dungeons more impactful.

3. Plot: (6+1) /10

It's pretty straightforward. From chapter 1, everything MC does is to kill the hero.

There are twists here and there, which sometimes are nice. So, a +1 to the original 6.

The reason for this score is every arc feels is pretty much dungeon clearing. Rinse and Repeat.

It isn't bad. But it isn't good enough to get a 9.

4. Power System: 9/10.

This is perhaps the best thing in the story and also the reason you might want to read it despite the low scoring in other segments.

The power system itself isn't ground breaking. But what makes it stand out is the synergy—the way MC uses his skills together to become OP.

The items are good, but skills were the most gripping to me.

Overall: If you want to read a story about leveling up, growing OP, no romance/harem, no nonsense MC, not a lot of characters, this story is for you. <<less

The action is fun, the characters are fun on some level, the plot is fun. Wish the MC developed more relationships with others and make more friends.

My only gripe is the level of repetition. My god does the author need to work on it. They'll say something once in one chapter and repeat it twice in the next chapter. A huge turn-off since it felt like I was reading the same scene, sentence, sometimes even chapter repeatedly. I'm usually ok with this. Sometimes authors repeat the info just in case... more>> the reader forgets and it's common in CN since repeating things three times is their way of showing that something is important. But... wished that the author toned in down on this one. <<less

I love this book. Every once in a while I come back to re-read it. Why? Because it's simple. It's full of awesome battles with no angst. You don't have to worry about if the MC will win (... more>>

), but the ways in which he does are awesome and full of action. I hate novel with angst (I don't know while I'm unable to handle them. I get anxty and just want it to stop). I know people like novels with angst. I know some people like the unexpected and want to be surprise. I don't; And especially like novels that are smooth sailing with OP MCs. Those are the most fun for me. If you're like me, you'll enjoy this one. <<less

at Chapter 194 Forest of Giants.

Kill The Hero. Yup, I bit the bait.

  1. The translation, or maybe it is just the way KR novel is? It feels like many things will be said twice. Example ch.3 -**********‘For signing a two year contract, the signing bonus is six hundred million won.’ The standard two year contract came with a signing bonus of six hundred million won, the standard for a three year was a billion won. Moreover, this was only the signing bonus.

‘Clearing a one floor dungeon will have additions rewards of thirty million won each time.’

When the first floor of a dungeon was cleared, the player would be rewarded depending on the results of one’s clear, and in a situation where the second floor of a dungeon was cleared, a clear reward would be given once again, this time in hundreds of millions of won. ********************

While not exact repeat, but I found too many similar wording that makes me feel like I had been told twice.
  2. Also, the dungeons. I came to a point where I have to login and write my first ever review on novelupdates (maybe).
MC is attacking Forest of Giants, which was never cleared before, and even abandoned by LSJ. It is 4 floors dungeon, which, as described in the novel, compared to 3 floors is like heaven and earth. So, here is concerns:
    1) Nobody clears the dungeon. How do people know the mobs and the boss monster in the dungeon? They even know what boss monsters inside? HOW?? They even know the clear condition, but every floor has different clear conditions. If nobody ever enters and come out how the info get out? In this novel, either you clear or you die inside. Thats how Aegis Shield got stuck in Hellhound dungeons. (and how they know the boss is Hellhound??????)
    2) LSJ abandoned, didn't attack Forest of Giants. It is 4 floors dungeon. BUT NOW LSJ already cleared 7 floors dungeon, and going by the novel, it should be like earth and the sun, 7f should be much much much more difficult to clear. BUT WHY LSJ didn't clear it earlier? Why leave it as his weakness? as his Reverse Scale? Surely he can clear it now, since he should be much much stronger now? MC plan to clear all abandoned dungeons by Messiah Guild... why would Messiah leave it uncleared?
OK, just crossed my mind, maybe because there is level restriction? However it was not mentioned for FoG (yet as of chapter 194). But a big guild like Messiah surely can gather all manpower and gear to clear it.
plus others, I can only give it 3 stars now.

The title stays true to itself. The series ends when he kills the 'hero', but it is pretty average overall with the protagonist always getting what he needs. The only reason why this isn't a two stars is because the way he used all of the characters we're neat.

This a 50/50 novel. One half is amazing, the other utter tr*sh.

The politics/schemes/shakedowns, the fights/hunts, the food/cheapskate jokes and the feeling of having an OP necromancer are amazing.

The one-dimensionality of the MC, the lack of romance/girls, the plot-holes and -most annoyingly- the verbose writing style of the author (he/she is definitely getting paid by word-count) are lackluster at best.

In the end I give this a 4*, because it has a decent ending/epilogue, even though the last fight was very much rushed. Read this if you want an OP character getting skills, doing dungeons and out-smarting his opponents on repeat. If you are looking for depth you should search somewhere else. <<less

good past time if there's nothing to read

some transition of scenes are iffy for me, the interaction of the characters aren't really my thing, the schemes of characters just comes to me as gibberish sometimes

overall it's another junk food type of novel, many points in this doesn't have any depth and isn't explored upon, so some things comes out as subpar

it's good but it's bland and doesn't really make me feel invested or that immersed into

It is an okay read. There is no character development or anything, MC remains the same from the start to the end. Not a bad thing considering he does not have any flaws in his personality (I am talking in regards to carrying out his goals). He is a guy who is experienced and has luck on his side so there are no obstacles that can stand in front of him. He plans meticulously to get stronger and target stronger preys.

There is no screen time for anyone except the... more>> MC, not even the antagonist. A lot of unresolved plot points and plot holes. We have information on nothing except what MC perceives of himself, his situation and the people around him which is frustrating. I wish the author had side stories to tie these loose ends.

Spoiler

The novel ending at killing the hero was more suitable compared to ending with completing the tower. MC's goal for this novel is killing the hero, not completing the tower so it is a good way to end the main story. That is why I sincerely hope author adds other details in side stories (if he ever writes lol)

[collapse]

All in all it is a good read for those who are looking to pass time and read a plot that heavily favors MC. There are few consistent grammatical errors in the translation. Nothing that would seem incomprehensible but honestly it ruins the experience, they need to proofread older chapters. <<less

So the story is about a regressor who was betrayed and stabbed to death, apparently he was a hunting dog who used to kill criminals. After regressing he becomes a necromancer (as if we already don't have enough of them) and a poison user. He becomes stronger by targeting dungeons which has a level cap.

If you are interested in an op, cheapskate MC who always succeeds and the world itself moves to provide him with everything then this is the one.

The plot is kind of interesting and some might even... more>> say that the MC is smart and calculating but honestly I dont think so. He just uses tricks that any average person in his right mind would do (ofc provided the person was calm and collected in life threatening situations but that compliment doesnt really apply to the MC cause he has already lived his life once and was a top hunting dog who was always in battle.)

Like I said from the very beginning itself the MC has been handed over everything that he wants be it skill, items, or even a immortal punching bag who will never die and draws the aggro of all the monsters.

The novel is around players who are chosen by the gods or something (not sure) and the players acts as their priests I think. Anyways the god the MC chose is a big sugar daddy who will reward the MC for even killing normal mobs (I mean its not enough that he gives MC skill boosts after every time he defeats a boss be it an easy one or a hard one, he will also reward him for hunting normal mobs like wtf)

The MC keeps repeating that he is unlucky while he keeps on getting legendary and unique items and skills (ranks are like this" common, rare, unique, legendary) which is really annoying.

The MC has it going really smooth all the time, he never encounters a formdiable foe (the one he did encounter the author decided to skip it. Yes he skipped the entire fight and only the results were shown). Till the chapter I have read you wont find a single smart human being (even finding averagely smart world be hard). The single smart person would be the MC and rest are either ret*rds or too full of themselves (which also makes them ret*rds)

The whole story is a huge plot armor for the MC.

The MC openly antoganised a guild whose primary target is killing players when he was weak as a caterpillar compared to others but he got away with that. Yes the MC is op among his level range but what about outside the dungeon, he has no backing whatsover to prevent his death and even the backing he had, used him as a bait to lure that guild. Its a damn miracle hes still alive.

The novel isn't shit, but it's pretty bad. Not that it isn't entertaining at times.

The thing that bothered me the most is how inconsistent the author was. "Everything started in 2020"... some chapters later "JK, it started in 2018."... "wait... scratch that, 2020. Finally remembered, I wrote 2020 in the beginning."

You could say that might have been the translator's fault, but this is an author that consistently went from xyz summoning skill, to just xyz skill over and over again. So at best, both author and translator were at fault,... more>> at worst, the author just didn't care enough to keep track of all the skills, items and people that showed up.

Then you have the constant repetitions. "MC took a shit." The next sentence: "MC just pooped!" Things were usually repeated twice, not just dialogue between two characters were one was confirming, if he had heard correctly. Even the descriptions of the scenes were repeated twice. "The ass was big." "The bu*t was huge."

The end isn't too bad, but too many things got left unanswered.

Spoiler

Dude was betrayed and didn't want to hear the betrayer's excuses. Fair enough. But he has a skill that can let him see all the memories of a dead person, and he didn't f***ing use it on him... I'm pretty sure the author either forgot or really wanted to skip that and finish the story.

Same thing with the setting itself. In the last chapter, the wingman (supporting character that really only did that) alludes that the one who made the world a game mustn't have been happy with the players that refused to end the game, so he restarted the game. Basically, the supporting character told him: "Brah, I'm pretty sure you got sent to the past, 'cause big boy player didn't like the ending."

They have a setting pretty similar to Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, but nothing about that is explained, nor do people wonder why tf it's like that. They choose a halo aka a sponsor, who from time to time gifts them stuff, but the author only left it at that. No one knows why they made the world into a game or why they were supporting the players/humans.

And they never go into the last dungeon and clear the game... like, seriously. Was it really that difficult to write 10 more chapters about the dungeon and end the story afterwards? I guess this leaves the author with the possibility of writing a sequel in which MC clears the game and then goes to a higher real or something, but still...

I've read it all and honestly I'm a bit disappointed, I won't say too much but will point out the problem that I find the worst. That's the author's style, it's really bad, he always repeats the line twice throughout the whole story, for example, if the MC thinks "I like to drink coca" then the author will repeat that - he love to drink coca !!!! So bad I tried so hard to finish the series and was very disappointed in the style! I'll give 3 stars, +1 stars... more>> because I've been watching it for so long! <<less
