On the wedding day, her fiancé and his lover had a love affair and eloped. Her eyes were dim, she seized the man in front of the Civil Affairs Bureau.

”To sum it up, your bride is not here, my groom ran off, wouldn’t it be better if we… fight together?”

Before marriage, she said, “Even on the bed, between me and you, there will not be anything!”

After the marriage, he said, “Do not try, how do you know?”

This novel is one of my all time favorites. I don't know why many people are against it. Yes, many people are against Tangning but entertainment industry has many dark sides and everyone has to keep their eyes open all the time. Yes the plot is repetitive but it is never boring. It is the kind of repetition where you don't want to skip the arc even though you know the MC is gonna win. The author keeps it interesting in every arc.

And people keep saying this is illogical... Like... more>> really? What do you expect from a fiction? I don't see people saying that rebirth and transmigration is illogical?!! I mean it's fiction. Why so serious? If you want realistic things go read something philosophical instead of a romance novel because romantic novels are literally going to be presented as a fairytale. I mean, yes the plot twist about Mo Ting's mother arc was kind of absurd but there are novels where the MC literally gives birth to a child and forgets about it and the ML (who raises the child) does not remember the child's mother. Like you guys don't find that absurd?!!

And the thing about the MC and ML not being in love... MC and ML met and got married without knowing each other but they develop understanding, respect and trust, which is rarely found. I mean there is never a misunderstanding between the ML and MC in this novel. Or if you want the type where ML and MC have a one night stand then trial marriage then many misunderstandings and finally an end then you won't find this novel enjoyable. I mean love does not have to be passionate all the time. The ML understands MC and he is not like the scum ML who r*pes MC because he gets "jealous".

The MC is not perfect. It is shown many times. She is not a pushover. Yes, she was mistreated by her fiance but she didn't know that he was cheating. She literally gave away her family and her success for a guy she loved and that guy cheats on her. I mean who wouldn't want to slap a scum like that. But she doesn't kill him unlike in some novels. She got backlashes many times which shows that she was not perfect. She did not become a supermodel but changed to being an actress. But again she got backlash. After that she started becoming a producer.

If this MC isn't considered a strong MC then I don't know who does. I mean she would've gotten up by herself even without the help of Mo Ting. She rarely needed the help of the ml. And she even helped the ML a few times which is kind of rare. I mean in most of the novels, the MC hugs a golden thigh and after that her job is done. The ML does all the work. And the most wonderful thing is that there is no second male lead here. This is 1v1 novel <<less

This was the novel that introduced me to this hell hole of east asian novels. It's too long and while I thoroughly enjoyed the 1/3 of the story, it became a chore to read as it went on. This should have been a shorter novel. Three stars because I really couldn't stop reading the first parts, and because this was the novel that started my obsession with east asian novels.

I remember really hating the part where... more>>

ML, despite being all powerful and perfect, had to go and become an actor. Wth it's so unsuitable for the character.

This is the first 1000 chapters novel that I read and I can say that it was like a telenovela in writing. The antagonists are like villains who doesn't used half of their brains while the protagonists have god-like brains. (But I love it).

There are three downsides for this novel in my opinion.

First is how the romances for each couples started except for (the assistants) and how one couple felt too forced.
Spoiler

MCaMC ML started out as a trial couple but in a few chapter it's like they have known and loving each other for years. But since both have a common denominator - ruthless and calculating, it became just normal that I forgot that they were literally strangers from the start of relationship. The model and PR man started out also in a flash romance. The bro x CEO's relationship and actor x ex-sisinlaw is a bit better like the assistants. But the sis and the director? Their relationship looks so forced that it was like they were made so for the sake of everyone near MoTang to be in a cute relationship.

[collapse]

Second is how some of the villains were handled. I get that some deserved to be given a second chance that their end wasn't that bad. But some villain doesn't deserve to just have their ending to disappear like that. The fraud, the fake legal heiress, the gangster, that secret weapon, sl*t soldier and the last arc family. Those people deserves a tragic ending especially that last arc family.

Third, the story focuses too much on never ending evil schemes against the couple. The kids didn't even have that much interaction with the MCs except for the epilogue ?. I was hoping for a cute family bonding between them but no, the author lives too much in angst. The main story should have ended with Tangning being a great actress/model recognized (the arc after that was really unnecessary). Then have a split side story of how MoTang doted on their children.

On a positive side note, I love how the ML dotes on his wife from chapter 1 to ending. The MCs loving interaction is this novel's saving grace for me.

I'm sure that I'll be rereading this in the future especially the model and acting arc which by the way is the most exciting part even though some problems are quite repetitive.

Novel's about a weird af relationship and love story of two crazy overpowered and favored god-children of godparent author.
To start of with the synopsis, you can believe in the event that's following but characteristics, conduct and everything plus dialogue can be scratched, yet another click bait-y false advertis**ent novel synopsis, why am I not surprised....
FL gets cheated on before wedding day but takes it surprisingly cool by tossing her cheating ex out of her mind and immediately throws herself body and mind onto a la creme de la creme CEO, that's obv. under chinese novel standards: Rich, good looking, talented, got an enterprise which he rules over like an emperor, cold to women but warm to FL and has the backup of an impressive family.
Unlike in synopsis, FL willingly gives herself to ML merely after 5 chapters out of 1k+.
Also extremely tired of authors using the "rescue damsel in distress to have her fall in love with ML/Let him support you all the way to the top, yet this is still somehow a story about girl power and girls need no man"strategy.
Things that will keep bothering me are:

-ML shows up & saves FL at where FL is the most vulnerable over n over

-despite agreeing right after that shotgun marriage they wouldn't interfere with each other's business, he breeches that verbal contract and kept helping her out
(she overlooks the first couple ones, and then when it became obvious she merely gave him a soft warning and despite him repeating the same shit, she never really took action against it)

-for somebody who didn't care who he was married to, he immediately gave her unlimited backup and love

-relationship progresses thanks to multitude of times of ML saving FL and supporting her and them just getting along right of the bat like they were married already for 80 years just with a heavy dosage of honeymoon phase.

-stereotypical cannon fodder lose all their IQ fighting against leads traits; smart scheming mistresses seem always to lose their guard after years of hardship and acting just to give opening to the protagonists

-too many plot convenience meet ups and lucky incidents

Spoiler

FL been mistreated for many years by cheating ex, stood up, undermined and even forced to support other artists under his label in disguise, she seems completely lack of awareness and self respect for tolerating that sort of bullshittery without even trying to resolve their relationship hurdles. EX might've coaxed her every time but never really showed changes in his actions. My suspicions are that she stayed with him because she was already blacklisted thanks to him, her family turned against her because of him, her ego couldn't handle being in the wrong so she stuck to him while ignoring all the red flags until cannon fodder mistress gave her too much insult to bear.

As for the dear ML, his character is the usual stoic I-will-ruin-you-if-you-ever-cross-me type. Famous for hating honey traps or general schemes in the entertainment industry, he immediately breaks character by hooking up with a former top model. From start to finish, he's the one that's doing most of the work and even FL acknowledges it.
Weird ass reason for sticking to being a model was first of just revenge, then she aims to become his equal.
Though I cannot relate how the best top model could ever compare to someone who's on the very top of corporate giants, it's net worth gap of dozens of millions VS dozens of billions, no matter if its influence or power, she'd never be able to match up merely as a model. It just feels like FL/Author needed a reason to keep the story in the entertainment face-slap business.
for 1k+ chapters, I feel like author could've also squeezed out more fluff than bunny fk.
Title is also utterly BS, no less than 1/10 into the content, they no longer treated it as a trial marriage and this sad husband worked his bu*t off till he started burning with a fever. Trial, where? Work hard, who? Roll credits after first arc please...
Lastly, examples for how most things are going in FL's favor are like how often the timing is just right to prevent her suffering from a huge loss or how she meets up the next company she wants to sign with but the CEO rarely attends charity events decides to attend for some reason but doesn't even act upon those reasons.

Too many plot holes. I used to read this and think this is good, but the really long chapters and the endless drama that come one after another just destroys it all. Honestly, the plot just keeps on repeating and so many twists. At one point, we find that the ml’s mom isn’t even his mom, but his biological mom’s twin sister, who schemes to destroy his biological mom’s face and take her place.

The fact that the MC often gets schemed by many women jealous of her, is getting old.... more>> It happened too many times. You really need to be an inexperienced young child to read this or turn off the logical side of your brain.

Also, this would never happen in real life, at some point you may have good luck, but sometimes that luck just goes out. Not that many people would actually scheme against someone famous, no one is perfect.

The MC is just too perfect, to the point I think she’s too fake. <<less

I tried, I really did. Maybe if I had read this before some novel like "the bad new wife is little sweet" I could have possibly liked this. There should be a tag that says 'weak female lead'. After the whole fiasco with her ex, she was like... from now on im gonna toughen up and not rely on anyone even my op mogul husband... but at the merest sign of trouble... guess who there for the rescue, it's not like she asks for the help, but she doesn't refuse... more>> the ML when he decides to solve all the problem for her. She didn't climb her way back to the top, the ML got her a jet and dropped her off there! Its like all her words of self empowerment went to hell when she realised how easy it is for the ML to do it for her. She might have a high EQ but her IQ is smaller than my shoe size. I really tried to like this but I just cant like the MC as a person, she sucks as a modern independent woman. <<less

If you're looking for a good plot, character development, or something that will blow your mind, this may not be the novel for you. However, if you want a story about a power couple that supported each other as they overcome their obstacles in order to obtain their dreams while living their lives as a happily married couple, then this is for you.

I admit that I picked up this novel just because of the above reason. Before this, I just came off the wagon of Hidden Marriage, Evil Consort, and... more>> Transmigration vs. Reincarnator. Thus, it just made sense for me to continue on this path until the good novels that are I'm really waiting for such as Memory Lost, Pristine Darkness, and a ton more to finish translating. So long novels like these help pass the time.

TBH, I wasn't expecting much from this novel but the same repetitiveness (which it got plenty of), but I really liked the couple's devotion and support for one another. It's something I cherish in a good novel because this has always been my vision of how a couple should be. It the love and emotional side of the novel that moves me (a reason why romance is my all time favorite genre.). I ashame enough to say that I primarily enjoy novel based on whether or not it is capable of moving my emotions and this novel has many moments when it did.

If you're looking for something similar but with better plot and characters, then this story is definitely similar to First Marriage, Then Love. That one will be much shorter, just as sweet, but has better story and characters development. Since I'm on the topic, I would say Marriage Concerto is also well done with the added benefit of giving its readers lots of cavities which will eventually lead to diabetes. LOL. Don't believe me? Try reading it.

Sorry for a crappy review so far, but I'm not even halfway through yet so I'm just stopping here to give some of my thoughts. After I finish, it might change but for now, I'm really enjoying it. <<less

This story is fun only up until our main leads announce their marriage publicly, after that it gets so annoyingly infuriating. The story is a constant endless loop of the same face-slapping climaxes, some of which could have been avoided entirely if our main character wasn't so prideful and secrative. The author is just dragging out the story needlessly. After the end of this arc, unless someone can tell me a change will come, I've decided to drop this novel for good.

For a “trial” marriage, the trial period sure didn’t last long. My netflix free trial lasted longer. The MC and ML fell for each other so damn quickly without much basis, that’s why people call this novel is irrational.

Spoiler

The MC lived as a cicada for years. Then the cicada turned into an oriole.

No will, blind bad love, gave up everything for a scoundrel that betrayed her all the time. Then she find out about the mistress, but went to the CAB on the next day (where she was supposed to marry the scoundrel) anyway (guess she was waiting to see what would happen or maybe still had some hope). There she found the ML who was supposed to be marrying someone to, but that woman was late (late to marry the godly handsome and powerful entertainment king, she is probably crazy... I would have camped there) and for some reason (family pressure? Never heard about it later), he had to marry that day.

Then... She proposed.

Yeah, like "So, my fiance is with his mistress, your bride is crazy, wanna marry?" and he was like "Assistant, google her... Yeah... Hum... Ok, I accept. But you have to live with me in my spanish-palace-style super-expensive house, stranger.".

So... I was not even sure why she decided to marry a random guy. Okay, not so random. Hello? Godly handsome and powerful entertainment king there! But, anyway, within two seconds she decided to marry him, get the so called fairness (revenge, baby) and end her career hiatus as top model. And boost her career through revenge.

Tcharaaam, instant couple! Don't even need to boil it for three minutes!

They act like a married couple: cooking together, worrying about each other, fluffy, fluffy, fluffy. BUT, no love yet. Like ML said "If we keep our figure like this, we'll never have to worry about divorce". Yeaah, all about "I'm in love with the shape of you". But they are all fluffy anyway. Ah, of course, MC was virg*n and the ML decided to wait, because for some reason he decided he wanted not only the body, but the heart of this strange too. Of course (again), they ended up doing it anyway, since I guess it would take too long to wait.

After a while you think "wow, their relationship progressed so much!" and then ML and MC let this out: "I like you so much, miss you so much, maybe even love"... WHAT!? Only now its >maybe< love????

I was like "Its one of those forever histories..." (which I like, but I was sure this history would not have a slow development as ML and MC decided to marry in two seconds and acted like long time married couple after one blink.)

MC's long term goal is to reach the top to be proudly side by side with her OP husband. "Mini-missions" are all about someone trying to ruin MC's reputation for [insert futile reasons here]. Short term goal is, I guess, revenge? Deal with dumb villains?

MC is... She wishes that her husband don't overwork, but keeps interrupting his job, asking him to go with her everywhere out of blue, making him work for her... She is a hell of a job! I want to slap her! She is so independent, but can't stand to be away from her husband for one day. Her husband is having migraine and MC... CRY!!!! He is suffering and the one crying is her! So ML has to deal with the pain AND with the crying wife. Double trouble, yay. RUN!!

Dude! s*upid couple! Hubby / Wifey s*ave!

Also, she is famous and not so famous at same. I can't completely understand how fame works in this novel. In the end, I guess that background is more important than talent since MC is so OP when she is working. And she always hit the target (best results/top quality), but models with more works (ordinary results/ordinary quality) are the ones to get the cherry. WHAT!

She said to ML "do not use your influence to help me, I want to use my own strength!", but most of the important parts are done by him. Her schemes, two layers tops. ML, sadly, not doing so better. Wife s*ave, cool, kind of wild, but his main weapon is his power and his money. Dude, you can do anything with those two and don't even need to think too deep. I'm kind of surprised a man with so much power and money decided to marry a stranger. I guess a divorce must be as easy as drink water to him, so, whatever.

I need to say, her type of blind love is just... She gave up her top model career, her family (rich, of course) and even herself for a man that never really loved her. Sad... but the revenge is the sweetest.

I can totally see this novel as a world of a worlds-system novel. The protagonist is not as smart as she think she is and could be taken down by a soy sauce MC. BUT, thats just because I love deep and clever plot more than I like fluffy.

I know relationships are like onions (Shrek feelings), layers and layers... But at least don't peel off all the mature layers! How come they understand each other so well, but you don't really feel it? How come I can't see all the love on the details? So, they hug each other, snu snu, love declamations, knight in shining armor... And the rest? Its a typical recipe of the shallow part of a relationship. The real emotional part needs more than this, so, sometimes, their love looks so... not real. MC reminds me a leech and a forever damsel in distress.

[collapse]

The history is shallow and not as clever as it wants to be. But a good read to pass the time. Comparable, maybe, to a chic-lit.

The slow pace is killing.

The quality of the history improved from the first chapter until 238. The history lost a bit of the shallowness.

The translation is awesome. <<less

I honestly quite like this story but after 150 chapters the plot just keeps repeating itself. Someone jealous or angry with the female protagonist tries to block her path to success by making some scandal about her online or somehow makes her look bad, the female MC keeps her cool and one-ups the antagonists with the male MC behind her all the way using his money and reputation to help the female MC. At first it was sweet and I looked forward to reading how the MC would resolve the... more>> problem but I'm at chapter 192 and it has been aroubd 5 times and to be honest it's starting to get old.

It's not even legit struggles with her modeling it's just people scheming against her. There's no scene so far where she struggles to internalize how to get into character she's just automatically in sync with the clothes she's wearing. Like she wears it and bam she has the right aura or something. I liked this at first then I realized it was the first time she even saw the gown and she has it down pat. The author doesn't walk us through how she became one with the dress... She just did cause she's that OP.

I might get back to this later... Hopefully there's more to the story than the redundant part I've pointed out. <<less

Very light reading material, on par with daytime soap opera. The heroine's confidence and ability makes you wonder what exactly caused her to land in her predicament as outlined in the early chapters: the transformation from a weepy and bullied woman into a self-assured and level-headed one is very sudden considering that this is not a transmigration or second-chance story. The antagonistic cast remains s*upidly unaware of her change in personality and kept on underestimating her abilities, to the point that they really deserve the simple (but effective) payback she... more>> is doling out.

From the synopsis you might be fooled into thinking that the heroine and the male love interest would need to endure long bouts of conflicts and misunderstandings. Fortunately the story dispenses the need for the "melting iceberg" type of character: the pair very quickly (some would say too quickly) declare their love for each other. Over the course of 30 or 40 chapters they work seamlessly and harmoniously as the heroine goes about fulfilling her ridiculous contract with the antagonistic modelling company.

This novel is obviously targeted at female readers: a determined female character who rose from the ashes and a strong and wealthy partner who oozes alpha male appeal. There is little time to dwell on the bizarre circumstances that they meet, suffice to say it's a story centering around an attractive couple surrounded by jealous and petty characters whose greatest foes are the internet and camera phones.

For casual reading. <<less

I've seen this title and cover for a while on web novel and ignored it because I got over m/f Chinese web novels a while ago. Honestly, they all seem to be the same, but I caught an ad for this on youtube because it was localized for a US audience I guess. It was an audiobook, but the ad I saw made it seem like a completely different story. First of all, it started with the two MCs in front of the civil affairs office waiting for their partners... more>> who are a no-show. The dialogue is different from the original. When I listened to the real first chapter, I thought I had the wrong book, but no. I should have dropped it then but I was already interested, so I gave it a try.

Big mistake.

I'm getting over the mindless face-slapping in most Chinese web novels. Sometimes it's entertaining, but often it's the MC/s who are simply better than everyone else at everything beating down endless cannon fodder villains with low IQs every few chapters. The FMC is always a Mary Sue who's beautiful and loved and admired by everyone except the villains, and the ML is always a cold CEO who's kind and doting only to the MC. Which was nice when I first started reading these novels, but I got over that very quickly because it was nearly every M/F story (and some Bl stories). I stopped somewhere around ch20-30 and started skimming because I just wanted to see the parts I was interested in like the relationship reveal and other secret reveals. I probably only read like 300 chapters or less, which is still a lot.

I tried using the chapter titles, which weren't always reliable, so I did a lot of reading/skimming back and forth. The actual relationship reveal was so anticlimactic I hated myself a little for looking for it so diligently, but I DID love the mom's secret reveal.

Mom revealed the MC's birth secret in ch391, and it was so good I actually shed a tear. It was probably the only scene in this that really moved me besides the first handful of chapters, and I nearly gave the story two whole stars for that, but I decided to stick to one star.

I just don't feel sympathy for the MCs at all. She is a Mary Sue, he is a Gary Stu, they are oh so beautiful and perfect (this is repeated ad nauseam) and they are naturally both good at everything and the center of the universe. Meanwhile, all villains are cannon fodder with low IQs and completely jealous of the MCs, sticking out their faces to get slapped and ridiculed once the MCs are done with them, I think a few are killed but I didn't really care. I'm over the complicated family drama and dynamics found in these novels. I'm over the cookie-cutter villains who serve no purpose than to make the MCs look good and righteous and perfect! They're taken care of with no suspense, and sometimes, I end up feeling more sympathy for them than the MCs. Seriously, a lot of these MCs show some disturbing sociopathic tendencies. Sometimes I think these stories go too far for revenge (and sometimes, not far enough so there's always something to disappoint.)

At first, it was great. I felt sorry for the MC, but the progression of things is just too unbelievable. Tang Ning and Mo Ting end up meeting and marrying completely by coincidence, and even though he obviously didn't care who he ended up married to, he takes an interest in his new wife right away. They hardly spend time around each other while she's running around taking revenge on her cheating ex so though it takes several chapters, they very quickly move in together, come to trust and care for each other, then decide they love and want each other. And of course, neither introduces the other to the family or reveals the relationship publically because it leaves room for drama in the future (and there was plenty.) MC starts out pitiful, then admirable with how she takes on her ex and the cheating mistress, but she grows to become arrogant, conceited, and privileged. Everyone else's ability and intelligence is dumbed down just so everyone can praise her as the pinnacle of whatever career she's trying to master. Also, certain characters who show the bare minimum of human decency are praised to death when they haven't really done anything that impressive. I could go on but I've spent enough time on this story.

In the end, I just felt like the MCs were too hypocritical and pretentious (and a tad sociopathic.) They have kids who also grow up to have their own love dramas, but other than one or two chapters of Mo Zichen's and several chapters of Mo Zixi's (the oldest twin bro) love drama, I skipped to the end.

I only really liked Bei Chengdong and Han Xiner and would have loved to read a story with these two as the leads. <<less

Previously, I already read another novel from the same author: "Sweetest Top Actress in My Home" and I could tell that this novel was a bit better than STAMH although both novels had a similar vibe. What made them similar:

  • Their stories revolved around entertainment circle.
  • Both MC and MLs hit it off immediately just after a few chapters.
  • Both MC and MLs were so loving and never had any misunderstanding.
  • Both stories contained so many face slapping moments.
I couldn't say much about the plot because there were so many arc stories in this... more>> novel but at least the author had a clear goal that made this story wasn't completely pointless, that was: to make MC be the best of best so she could stand proudly by ML's side in the pinnacle of entertainment circle.

But of course as typical dog blood novel, this stories had many flaws, such as:

  • The story about how MC and ML fell in love with each other was a bit fairytale like. I mean, who married a stranger casually in front of Civil Affairs Bureau, especially when you're a CEO of a big company? Also, it only took a short time for MC and ML to fall in love with each other after their flash marriage. It's a bit unrealistic.
  • The story was so dragging, especially the face slapping parts. So many villains kept popping up one after another until I couldn't even remember their names and stories. The patterns were the same for each arc: someone slandered MC, the netizen got riled up because of it, MC face slapped the villain and netizen with a solid evidence, netizen felt bad for MC and apologized to her, and then it's back to square one again.
  • There were so many death tolls in this story and many of them were actually a likeable character. It made the story a bit depressing.
But those flaws didn't really dampen my enthusiasm to read this story till the end because although most of dog blood novels had a generic plot, reading how MC managed to face slap her enemies was particularly satisfying. <<less

Rating this a 2 because while it started off quite interesting, the story becomes so repetitive and cringy that it's hard not to want to guve up after every chapter past 100. The FL starts off as super admirable but slowly becomes incredibly arrogant despite the "good" she does and her motto of fighting back only when attacked first. Sometimes she even reads as unbearable esp with how everyone around her sees her as some sort of goddess when all she really is is priviledged. Also some of the body... more>> shaming and sexist/s*xual harrassment described in the chapters are way too much. Honest to God, the only highlight really is the fact I did enjoy some aspects of the ML for being incredibly doting and supportive... but only up to the healthy level. Not to point of being manipulatively controlling. <<less

I came back to see how this novel was fairing because this was one of the first showbiz novels I have ever read.

I haven’t read all the chapters and I don’t plan to ever.

It is way too long. There are too many revenge arcs.

It is unnecessary. It is so cliché because the MC always has the ML to support her.

It feels like reading a mush of every possible fix it revenge plot.

It’s a waste of time reading all the chapters.

I had high expectations for this novel. This expectations sadly ended up making me want to vomit later on in the story. I liked Mo Ting and Tang Ning's story, mind you, no matter how ridiculous some of the 'arcs' in this story was. Full disclosure, I actually stopped reading this story once. This was even before the Mo Yurou arc was finally done. I discovered the manhua and tried reading it again. It was fun but I had to skip some lines because they do get repetitive. ... more>>

Yes, yes, author. We know Tang Ning has high EQ and she won't attack unless she's provoked. Believe it or not, we actually got the clue before the 20th time you said it.

But... Huh... What can I say? I don't want to say it, but I registered on this site to say it sooo...
Spoiler

The "thinly-veiled misogyny is strong on this one.

I forgot most of the things that happened for the first 94 chapters but I know that MYR was a bad person. So the first issue on the table...

Spoiler

An Zihao's dead girlfriend. Huh. That one was strange but it wasn't so bad since we know this character simply as a model who died and she also happened to be An Zihao's girlfriend and the reason behind his retreat from the industry. With how many times the accident was mentioned, you would've thought that this dead model will be respected by the author? Uhm, nope. Turns out she's a cheater and someone who was willing to sleep with another man for support. Why did she have to be portrayed that way? I don't know.

[collapse]

Again, this one got a raised eyebrow for me but it's not that bad. Maybe the author just didn't want us to dwell on her that much?

But then, the second one...

Spoiler

Tang Jingxuan's first love interest. I can’t even remember her name. But she's introduced as a good person. At least that's what I got from her refusing to harm TJX and TN. She will disappear for at about 100 chapters but lo and behold, the sweet girl we were introduced to is no more. She turned out to be a cheater (I'm sensing a pattern here) and she accidently killed someone 12 years ago (which is also mind-blowing because if TN is 27 at this time and TJX is younger than her and this girl is around the same age, she's what? 15 at most when this happened?)

[collapse]

This was worse than the first issue for me, but I got what the author wanted. It's a cheap and weak twist, but it wasn't that big of a deal for me since we didn't know much about this girl to begin with.

But then the third issue happened...

Spoiler

Now, we have Song Yanshu. At first, she's a bland character. Someone the author came up with because Xiner/Chendong ship must sail. But she grew on me. Sure, she's bland and always on the background, but she's also perceptive, loyal, and kind. And then she ended up being TJX's second love interest. It's meh for me but it's okay and, eventually, I started rooting for them. But I should've known, right? Somewhere along the line someone must've thought (was it the author? I'd like to believe it wasn't her) that Yanshu wasn't good enough for an immature and fickle prick like Jingxuan

[collapse]

I don't even want to discuss what happened between
Spoiler

Yanshu and Jingxuan

made me tear up and almost vomit sooo... Yup. I wanna give this one a 1 star review because of the side characters but since Tang Ning and Mo Ting never fell for the s*upid traps from the "antagonists", let's keep it at 3 stars. <<less

I didn't like the repetitive template of this novel. She lets herself be humiliated for the sake of face slapping her opponent later. Immediately after the revenge is completed, something happens again to her and she lets herself be humiliated for the sake of face slapping her opponent later...

This happend 3 times with the same opponent and everytime they "play cards" with career destroying high stakes. You think after this time, her opponent is definitley done for. It is impossible for her to recover, but very few chapters later she... more>> is back in the game...

This isn't a coherent story, but one episodic face slapping event after another. <<less
