tr*sh. One of the worst, most by-the-numbers, mediocre cultivation novels I've ever read.

There's no real world-building, anything of consequence pretty much pops into existence only when it's immediately relevant.

It's basically the entire world vs. The protagonist. Everyone he's allied with is too useless or passive to ever do much of anything.

The protagonist is supposed to be unbelievably ancient with many lifetimes' studies of the highest-level knowledge possible and yet he can barely fight someone one small realm above him in cultivation. You're seriously telling me despite millions of years of... more>> life where he couldn't cultivate, he never looked into defeating even low-level cultivators without having cultivation for oneself? That's literally unbelievable, my suspension of disbelief is shattered.

Despite having extremely fast cultivation speed, he is guaranteed to always be oppressed because he has stronger enemies permanently. Yet again, another perma-underdog.

The only thing this story might have going for itself is the promise of women and s*x, but I couldn't tolerate the ridiculously boring, mediocre story to stick around long enough to find out. <<less

The story is okay, it is repetitive and I'm used to that, but the thing that really gets on my nerves is the cultivation speed of the protagonist.

There are multiple realms of cultivation like 'True Qi Realm", "Spirit Ream" and so on. And each split into 9 sections which are further divided into 3 separate parts. Easy to understand right?

The thing about this is that the protagonist gets stuck in the weirdest cultivation levels every so often for 100ish chapters for some reason. An example would be like a sub... more>> realm of 2 or 5 for example, why not 3 or 6?.

The way that the author put it is so that when the story progresses, the protagonist doesn't level up, but when he suddenly focusses on the protagonist's cultivation level, it suddenly jumps up 2 minor realms. Very minor compared to what one would expect from the son of the celestial emperor with overwhelming knowledge.

This is how I felt when I checked the novel's wiki for each realm:

*The spoiler only contains the name of each realm and the chapter length for each realm's progress, nothing big

Spoiler
    • 'True Qi Realm' to 'Spirit Realm' 150ish chapters. (Okay)
    • 'Spirit Realm' to 'Origin Realm' 250ish chapters. (Reasonable)
    • 'Origin Ream' to 'Sage Realm' 170ish chapters. (Nice)
    • 'Sage Realm to 'Emperor Realm' 500ish chapters. (WTF!!!) this is where I dropped the novel
    • 'Emperor Realm' to 'Great Emperor Realm' 400ish chapters. (Very bad)
    • 'Great Emperor Realm' to 'Empyrean Realm' 150ish chapters. (Why??)
    • 'Empyrean Realm' to 'Divine Realm' 430ish chapters. (Holy crap)
    • 'Divine Realm' to 'Godking Realm' 16 chapters exactly. (@!#$@%$#$#@)
    • 'Godking Realm' to 'Celestial Emperor Realm' 10 chapters exactly (I don't care anymore)

I'm going to keep reading it since I'm already this invested, but you might want to give this one a pass, or skim through once it's wrapped up. The start was pretty neat, and it has a similar premise to Emperor's Domination or Histrory's Strongest Senior Brother, in that it has an overpowered/godly character being reincarnated as a weakling.

It doesn't have the staying power of those stories, however; it falls into the usual trap of Wuxia novels this long, which is to keep stretching out and repeating the same plot... more>> points with slightly stronger enemies in a slightly higher level location.

If you're really into standard Wuxia, go ahead and read it. Otherwise, skip. <<less

I stuck for so long just because I was in the story for too long. But it is just... the premise is nice. But the author does not have the competence to execute it. MC is supposed to be a million year old genius, but is usually dumber than most side characters in other novels (author backed himself into a corner with this setup).

The dao of word count is also too strong. Chapters go by with nothing happening. Only some common people talking about rumors, changing their opinion etc. It... more>> gives no information, nothing. Usually there are whole chapters of: Hey did you hear this? I believe this! Others then: No I do not because this. - There are just bodyless people you never hear of again. Just commoners.

There are numerous plotholes, where author sets something up and then just goes and changes it because he is unsure of how to proceed. I recently stockpiled 400 chapters and almost nothing happened in that. Just bland sauce. The author also uses just the tell, dont show way.

Do not waste your time, at first it is not so apparent how bad it is. Authors usually get better. This one just wants to make money and lost interest. So he just keeps spewing words that do not tell anything and does not even try. I am sad how many chapters I invested in this, if I could reroll all that I would. <<less

This novel should be called ' Sovereign of rethoric'.

My God it never ends... This demon keeps pulling my leg, trying to drag me down to the abyss of passive aggressiveness, where I shall be bounded and r*ped, and forced to endure countless hours of torture and agony.

The idea behind the novel is not that bad, and the translation is also good. Maybe this is a cultural thing? I can't understand why there is always the need to face slap someone in every chapter. Maybe this is a disesase that has... more>> spread the Chinesse continent for millenia? If a chinesse author does not includes two face slaps in every chapter his new born child will die from a misterious event at midnight.

There is not cultivation in this novel, so all that remains is the rethoric and face slaps.

Maybe I'm judging it too fast, since there are thousands of chapter, my soul crumbles at every chapter, and every time the main character acts like a teenager I die a little bit inside. <<less

Sovereign of the Three Realms was one of my favorite Novels in the beginning. It really started great!

Before the half of the chapters were reached it was a great read and interesting one. But later the story became repetitive. The final arcs are rushed (like the ending) and there are as many errors in the story (can't do this and that but one second later it's possible) as there are open Questions.
Spoiler

Most of his harem girls are ignored in the later story and the marriage at the end doesn't make any sense in my opinion.

[collapse]

All in all the story wasn't that great and rushed so I can give only 2 Stars.

I stopped reading this for quite some time because I want to complete first the story but I became sad after reading some reviews here. For me SOTR is one of the most underrated wuxia novel. I really like the way the story was written and how wise and knowledgeable the MC is especially how he slap all his enemies with his words.I also love the romance in the story because of how gentleman and manly Jiang Chen is for me. So I hope that the author will continue to... more>> write this story as I am sure that I'm not the only one who could appreciate this novel and for the translators to continue with their efforts and to not give this novel up. I'm still a student so as of now this is the only thing I can do but once I could have my own money I would very much like to be a patreon so I could clearly show my support and for them to see that they clearly not wasted their time in translating this novel. ☺️ <<less

Low IQ reading material. as the author doesnt have what it takes to make a decent long story plot makes the story goes down to the gutter real quick.

Repetitive storyplot, brainless antagonists that keep spawning like roaches, a bunch of asskisser follower without brains which always need MC help that gonna get forgotten after a couple chapters, alot of filler chapters that can be skip without affecting the story (probably 70-80% of total chapters), unreasonable long description that last till u drowsy, etc2...

so I assumed:

  1. u probably forgot 90% or more of characters name in this novel since they too shallow n probably died after a couple chapters. not ur fault, blame the author.
  2. the plot keeps repeating, so when it progress to next arc, u might already guess about 80-90% of the future development.
  3. too many fillers n unnecessary long description who probably to show how JC is so smart, cool, op, etc, blahblahblah... that gonna make u drop this novel for a while bc of nauseating reasons... then continue to read this bc u got no other choice. RIP... xD
  4. while all those reasons above make this novel slow like snail progress, I keep wondering how the heck some readers comparing this sh*t with ZTJ? bc reason 1 n 2 above is definitely different from ZTJ if u had really read ZTJ!!! or maybe ur reading comprehension just s*cks... whatever.
Ok. thats all from me... last, in the beginning MC farted & beaten to death n imo, he should stay dead to save us readers from the torture of reading this braindead novel...

THE..... END.

Pretty good start at 1-50. After that the main character kind of becomes an empty vassal of an overpowered plot armor- I wouldn't say that's bad but I was kind of hoping for most of his/side characters perspective of things rather than the author dictating it after the 50th+ chapters most of the time. Don't get me wrong- It's still a good read but I'm still kind of hoping for character development in the future. I'll edit this once I reach 200+ chaps.

It was good at the beginning, I was even ready to give it 4 stars, but.

It became an endless stream of trials and pill battles with nothing of the essence.

Why does the author even bother to start a new novel, he could just continue adding pointless chapters to his previous work.

And this manner of Chinese authors to add meaningless events and dialogues for the sake of page count. "I gave him a punch" or "he sat and read a technique" can be stretched to several or even dozens of chapters... more>> with elaborate descriptions and opinions of onlookers, so... so... infuriating! <<less

Drops significantly in quality around chapter 100. It's a good story up until then, but then it's like the author was replaced with an absolute idiot.

Before around chap 100, it felt like a fresh, decent novel with no BS power boosts, the MC had to work had to cultivate and fight with his knowlege.

Then around chapter 100, it all changes.
Spoiler

The MC defeats the actually decently written villain, but then is unable to kill the new, badly written villain that you desperately want to die because of how awfully she's written and hyped as some supreme talent that got picked by a sect. Her so called supreme talent is a load of BS, even her peers are a lot stronger than her. She manages to get saved because of random, infinite plot armor reinforcements repeatedly appearing out of nowhere to save her.

[collapse]

Don't bother using VIP to buy this novel on WuxiaWorld, it's not worth it. All the good chapters (0 to around ~100) are before you require VIP to purchase it, so they are free.

Decent xianxia but as many do the story tails off in latter third. In 2 months will be fully translated and if you enjoy the simpler reads where you don't have to think too much it's worth reading.

Pros:

    1. Will be fully translated soon
    2. Ending with closure (happy ending)
    3. Decent story and characters
    4. Alchemy novel - more so than most. Lots of potion making throughout.
Cons

    1. Rushed ending with no clear antagonist til end - last third of novel has a drop in progression/ quality
    2. Lots of fillers but this can be good... more>> for some who like dialogue/ opinions of side characters
    3. Many potential love interests won't make the small harem so be warned!

Each arc started out promising, but then got messy real soon. So much time and emphasis is put on this character/that strategy etc, but are very soon forgotten - as soon as the beginning of next arc! Story was still tolerable initially but quickly went to the drains after Peac*ck emperor disappears - what we get is lots of BS and MC's one-man army. The rest of the story is a very very bad, repetitive and useless narrative, especially after MC reaches Upper Realm...

Inconsistent, poor writing, mediocre story. This is at best a time sink if you don't care about quality. The beginning was alright but like many of these novels the longer it goes the worst it gets. I had to stop reading when a female character asked the MC to pull a giant needle out of her buttcheeks because she couldn't reach it (huh? Wasnt there a more believable excuse for an "ecchi" moment?).

Interesting story. The great thing about the MC is that he doesn't left behind his friends/followers. He granted them strength and takes them along for the journey. The downside is that the MC is too smart, thus nothing fazes him... his psychological state doesn't grow at all.

Starts good with lots of potential, very quickly gets worse and worse. The characters that have potential and are interesting eventually becomes useless and boring. The MC don't seems to be that wise for a reincarnated person either. For a guy with 2 lives worth of experience he makes tons of childish behaviors based on childish reasoning. I think maybe in his past lives his parents must've spoiled him a lot till he become like that.

Currently up to chapter 480

The novel is alot better than your typical reincarnated MC stories. The major difference here is that the author actually focus alot on the MC previous life experience and skills and no just brush it away after the first chapter. For example the MC uses his previous life knowledge to produce pills and luxury wine to make money and win favors from other people. This make for more unique and interesting scenarios in which the MC uses his brain instead of just going plot armor mode... more>> and fighting everything that looks at him funny.

One negative is the story can get EXTREMELY dragged on later on in the series. There are some chapter in which it is just the MC and his enemy acting arrogant with each other. FOR THE ENTIRE CHAPTER it just 2 people repeating the same sh*t "Your so weak, your just a ant for me to squish on". Also the arc can be very repetitive in which the MC will move to an area, become strong then move on to the next area get even stronger and become the boss etc.. etc... But the author dose a some what good job at world building so that it doesn't become to much of a hindrance on the story.

Spoliers for you harem lovers who are reading this novel because of that tag.
Spoiler

There is none, or better its BARELY a harem. The MC has the s*x drive of a old virg*n wizard and doesn't show interest in any girls. There is one time when he will have s*x and that's only because of influence of drugs and being forced into it.

[collapse]

If you are a fan of reincarnated novels, this is a great novel to read because the plot is majorly based around the MC using hes OP pass life knowledge.

If you are like wuxia/xanxia justice p*rn this will also give you a major boner.

But if your looking for the real boner material (romance, harem, sexytime) prepare to be majorly dissapointed. <<less

Enjoying the story so far but I'm already seeing tendencies from this author that I don't particularly like. The start of the novel (first 100 chapters) had showcased strong writing; the characters were developed well, the conflicts were tasteful, and the plot pacing is commendable. But I found the climax of this "arc" and the transition to the next had been quite lacking. The author makes the MC omnipotent one moment and then inexplicably vulnerable the next. It's not quite at the level where it's a major peeve but it... more>> does seem a little too convenient. Other characters experience similar 0-100 changes to make it easier to write them off in subsequent chapters. This is in contrast to the attention to detail in fleshing out characters seen earlier in the series where their development seemed organic and believable. Just my 2 cents in an otherwise very enjoyable series so far. <<less

Love the concept and it doesn’t lack imagination if not for this I'd give it 1/5. This novel would have been epic if the author had half the literary skills as the author of ATG or TDG.

It’s too detailed, too descriptive and too many treasures involve that the author himself can barely remember them all. Still a decent read but I find myself skipping through the paragraphs even skipping through pages from time to time. I don’t even read the dialogs sometimes, it just gets too redundant.

The author keeps repeating... more>> unnecessary details over and over again, like if a character owes him something, the author would keep reiterating in detail what that favor was instead of just stating the fact that he owes the MC. This happens with his treasures too, every time he uses them the author for some reason had to describe this treasure again and again, where he got it from and what it does, as if the author decided that the reader can’t remember any of them in the first place.

Every emotion/sentiment, every reaction of every character in this novel, somehow needed to be explained and elaborated. When some character cry for some reason, those reason had to be explained in at least 20 sentences, perhaps to justify every drop of tears from that random character.

In later chapters, the author keeps adding random characters just to mess with the MC. In crucial moments of the fights, some random dude would pop-out out of nowhere and interrupt the MC for some random reason or another. It happens a lot, you can almost expect it every time. Even in mundane circumstances, the author would add a random villain to mess with the MC. The MC is suppose to be low-key type of dude, but for some reason or another he would attract some random conflict time and time again.

Fight scenes are BOOORRRRRINNNNNGGGG to the nth degree, the most boring fight scenes I've read in light novels, especially with tourneys or with lots of people around. The author keeps adding too many distracting, useless and redundant descriptions and commentaries that you can barely visualize the fight. Too many useless bickering back and forth even in crucial moments of the battle. Even during unleashing of suppose to be fast speed attacks, both parties will still manage to squeeze at least 4 dialogs in there.

And some minor details are inconsistent, like timelines and power structures, its almost negligible, but still it reduces the quality of the novel.

With so many useless/redundant details in this novel, any decent editor can rewrite this and cut the number of chapters/pages of this novel by at least half and it would be a more interesting read. <<less
