Couldn't continue after chp 1425. The author needs to switch the ML asap. This "ML" sucks. The words used to describe him are usually "scheming/cunning/selfish" etc... Erm??? Am I expected to root for this a**hole? He doesn't deserve the MC. It's just too bad because I finally find a good book that's interesting and the MC is super strong, even stronger than the "ML" (which is usually not the case in female-protagonist stories), but the "ML"s character leaves a lot to be desired. Btw I used " " for the... more>> "ML" because I think he doesn't deserve the title.

The translator note (on webnovel) says that this story isn't primarily focused on romance, which is true for the first 900-1000 chapters I think, but it is quite clear who the "ML" is supposed to be. And after that the story unfortunately starts to split some attention towards the romance aspect, which really spoiled the story tbh. I think everything was well and good before that. The romance and the "ML" are totally unnecessary. This story really does not need romance. The action/adventure is good enough.

In summary: Really interesting story with superb plot and world building and decent characters (except for the "ML"), but unfortunately got ruined by the romance/"ML". If you're looking for a story without much romance, you can probably read until maybe chp 1000 and then drop it. <<less

I'm so glad I came across this novel. I mean, it got me through a really tough week without boring me out. It's not cliche, and I'm also amazed at the author's imagination. It's quite vivid tbh.

p.s. I'm so invested in this, but the novel is on hiatus so author, pleaaaase, hear my plea. Update when you're good already.

Okay I gave it a chill time after getting into ch 878 bcs yeah! My overview rate for this novel is 4.5 it's one of my favorites novels in the world. I love the MC, her gang of friends, Little 4, some of the instructors and so on but I need to say this has some sligthy and some really annoying flaws overall for me.

1. The author tends to drag the history...a lot of times. I've literally jumped 10 or so chps or just skimmed trough some and didn't lose... more>> anything really.

2.
Spoiler

The ML...I hate him for real! Just disgusting man!! I think I've never hated something or someone as much as I hate him. It's a deep gut thing. Ling Lang deserved WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY BETTER COMPANY IN HER LIFE.

[collapse]

3. Some views of the author like Ling Lang's personal goal to become strong... it's just doesn't make sense... absolutely NO sense

4.
Spoiler

The ending.

I truly have horror to the ending so I've never finished it after getting spoilers and getting to the end of the work to confirm... it gives me the chills... why destroy a perfectly good work like this? Author!!!!!

[collapse]

I believe I didn't put any spoiler really but just to be sure... anyway try it definitely! At last until ch 100 or so you will have a hang of it and can decide between going down a little more or quitting it...I hope you read, love and if possible make content for the Fandom we just have too little T-T <<less

BRO I love this so much I dont know how to express this in words.. It's like, so perfect for me and even with my tastes changing ever so often this novel will forever have a place in my heart.

It's got the romance, the action, the cultivation, and system + transmigration + friendship/found family which I absolutely adore !! Ling Lan is also hella strong +has her own weaknesses and setbacks too!! Her family loves her (distant relatives.. Eh) and the novel itself follows her journey like actually follows it... more>> from childhood to teenager to adulthood, not a lot of major timeskips either!!

My love extends so far I love this novel with my heart omg

My only complaint is that it's kinda confusing what's happening near chp 1000+ but maybe its cause I read mtl.. And that the hiatus is at like, a major major major climax in the story (important things must be said thrice) <<less

I am at the latest chapter and I felt that this novel is one of the best novel I have ever read.... although there are some points I don’t agree with somehow and because of how slow it was overall I think those flaws are nothing compared to the story

I did actually have doubts and headache about how slow paced this was but this is a 1000+chapter novel I think it’s understandable

Things I Don’t Like

I... more>>[/spoilerI personally don’t like about how Ling Lan forgot her dream about having a powerful baby and her losing femininity but since the author went into hiatus I can only see till the end about how the author is intending to end this

Overall one of the best novels I’ve read <<less

Okay so im gonna be honest, I've already read this until the most recent chapter but I came back to it a couple days ago. I seriously love this novel from the bottom of my heart and I am a very picky person when it comes to novels since I want a certain something when I read so this was definitely a hidden gem for me. But... (there's always a but) I have given it a 4/5 because of a character in the novel. At first when he was introduced,... more>> I didn't think much of him but I did hate his attitude but after he was reintroduced later in the novel I have begun to seriously despise him and that character is none other than Li Mulan (forgot his fake name). I really hate his character and pretty much everything about him. I find him too annoying and clingy it kinda grosses me out,
Spoiler

not only that but I really didn't like it when he took Han Jijyun's spot as the strategic. Jijyun worked hard for that spot and established himself in that spot but then all of a sudden this random mask dude come out of nowhere and steals his spot? not cool. Plus when Ling Lan is injured after getting into the God-Class Mecha during that war, she wanted to retire so she could finally live how she wanted but this bloody bast**d comes again and plays some s*upid tricks to make her come back which really set me off and ever since then, I hated the selfish little prick.

[collapse]
So yeah... maybe some people who read don't see those things in Li Mulan or do but like it which is weird but yeah I hate that f*cker. I literally stopped reading at some point because of him. I'm sure most people have that one character they absolutely despise in anime or tv shows or whatever simply because they exist like me. Aside from a selfish c*nt the novel itself is a true diamond in the rough. Enjoy if you're gonna read this beauty >///< <<less

A real effin gem. Been waiting for months now, it's currently been on hiatus since August 2020. The MC and the budding romance between her and the ML for me is definitely worth the wait. I continued reading because of the entertaining MC and the unexpected plot. Can't wait for the next update.

Patiently waiting...

Honestly, I adore this novel. After reading so many novels where the pacing was screwed up, reading this was so refreshing. There is no bam bam bam nth incident within three days to screw with my concept of time. The FL and her friends grow up gradually even if they do so at a faster pace than others. But that is due to hard-work and not just their pure talent like it often happens in other novels.

The plot is just the right amount of action (a lot of it actually),... more>> just the right amount of scheming, just the right amount of leisure time with a side dish of romance (not a lot of it right now, but I like it like that). The focus of the story really is on the growth of the FL and her companions so romance is just a side note which is kinda rare in the realm of jousei novels. This basically reads like shounen novel, just with the MC's gender happening to be female.

Apropos MC, the FL is talented and hard-working which I like even if she had to have a few pushes to be hard-working in the beginning. One thing I don't particularly like about her, though is her view on masculinity, like how a man must be "manly" and strong. But even so she grew to accept her companions who deviate from the stereotypical "manly" image. That's nice, I guess. Another thing I find a bit weird is her initial source of motivation to become stronger... I mean "getting a child with good genes"? My child-free brain can't wrap itself around her initial motivation being that she has to be strong enough to be able to push down the guy with the best and strong genes (essentially forgetting that that would be r*pe). Maybe I just don't like children enough or maybe it's really a ridiculous reason as it is in my head. Either way, I am glad that her motivation later on shifts into a more understandable (for me) realm.

One more thing that stood out to me is that her love interest is weaker than her. Go find me a jousei novel where the ML is weaker than the Fl. This is the first time I read a novel with this kind of power balance. It's a nice change of pace.

Relationshipwise, there are so many side ships and I love it. They bring a welcome break between all the action-filled tension of the main plot.

It is obvious from reading this novel that the author put a lot of thought not only into her lead characters, but also the side characters and especially into the plot and world-building. The world-building especially left me impressed as it was pretty ambitious to combine so many tropes into one story. Dao cultivation, martial arts, supernatural innate talents, outer space mecha sci-fi, virtual reality and a system to round it all up. Usually so many tropes would send my head spinning, but this time I felt like everything fit together just fine. It didn't feel jarring or forced. So a big plus for that from me.

There was one jarring thing though... How the heck did soldiers who are over twenty disguise as students who should be around 16? I just... The plot amour is strong with this one.

Still my rating is 4.5/5 because I don't care for small inconsistencies and enjoy the overall plot way too much. <<less

One of my favourites.........

1. Awesome cool independent female lead. Ling Lan is like an idol for me...... Cool, calm, badass outside. Tender hearted, caring and reliable inside.

2. Storyline and character development-perfect ! You can actually see those characters in your mind as you read on.

3. Sweet, a little scheming but handsome reliable male lead. I specially love the part when Li Lanfeng says- "Why should I share it with anyone else" (just for sitting on her mecha seat and inhaling her scent). His mild jealous and beautiful cold smile with... more>> the sickly prince act.........*gulp*. That's my kinda perfect male lead

4. It's a very balanced novel and keeps you fixed. Some novels it gets suffocating when it is monotonous romance, fluff or scheming or when it's all about mech and martial arts. It indulge the reader not because it covers many different platforms for the protagonist. Her main world- school/academy, family and group of friends, mind space with little four, space of all instructions. Like 'I' don't ever feel bored since the places keeps changing.

5. Her emotions and thoughts are very relatable. Her feelings towards others and the way she behaves, sometimes it makes you smile............ I like the weak to strong way!

6. Slow romance...... That's something I prefer in novels. When the two characters get to know each other development an understanding of the other's nature and ways before proceeding. I know it makes people frustrated at times, but it also builds up the anticipation and longing to see the next sweet cherry scene. <<less

Author left us on a killer cliffhanger. Has been on Hiatus pretty much since 2018/late 2017 due to personal matters (child etc etc)

EVEN WITH ALL THAT. I would still heavily recommend readers to get into this. If it means anything, this is one of my favourite stories.

This is on par, if not better (for me at least) with National School Prince is a Boy— which I will also take the opportunity to promote.

MC has hella strong but the story clearly shows that she works hard for it, and she... more>> does not win every battle. Her life is actually sort of tragic but it’s very much underdog.

Spoiler

There’s a scene where she is in the interstellar academy with her friends in their first year and they get challenged by seniors. One of her friends gets severely injured on a 1v1 tournament/bet battle with a senior, and the SCENE WHERE SHE FOUGHT BACK GOT ME SO HYPED!!

[collapse]

oh yes and the side characters! Actually! Have! Use! They! Are! Not! Just! FOIL for the mc! Their personalities and story lines are SIDJSJSJ I love them.

I’m in love with the fight action scenes. This story has one of the most tastiest, flavourful plots I’ve read in my life Jesus. The love interest... I am also in love with... but it is evident that this is NOT romance dominated and a slow burn relationship at best.

Spoiler

Crying over the latest events as of ch 1482

[collapse]

In short, read this story if you like literally any of the following:

- interstellar !

- fighting/action scenes

- gender bender !!! (not going to lie this drew me in. It’s the best gender bender novel I’ve read in novel updates)

- strong main characters

Definitely 5 stars. 5 stars the hell out of this novel. 5 stars 5 stars. Has everything I’d ever want if the author was still updating. I endorse this regardless of the hiatus. Let’s all burn in the waiting room patiently together. <<less

It's a fun read so far but I feel like it's always moving along too slow or too fast. The pacing is all over the place and I don't like it. The MC can't make up her mind about whether or not she is kind and loves everyone or cruel and cold hearted. The supporting characters feel important in the beginning but they're getting less and less attention as the plot develops and Little Four is not getting any smarter. It's cool that he's a little chibi and acts cute... more>> in the beginning but now that he can actually be of use to the MC and is accidentally messing things up instead I can't bring myself to like him as much as I did. <<less

Alright, this novel was filled to the brim with inconsistencies, unnecessary info dumps, and off topic rambling about side characters or other developments.

It was such a chore slogging through 80 chapters of this novel, which makes me wonder how this got a 4.5/5.

Pros:

  • MC is intelligent. Even though she is strong, she's also very observant and detail oriented. This is always a plus in novels for me.
Honestly that's the only good point in this novel for me, I really can't think of anything else.
Cons:

  • Info dumps are never concise. Always rambling on about something, lacking in structure, completely random. It does nothing but hinder the enjoyment of the story without actually adding something of value. The author will always go into detail about every insignificant detail, which never receives any attention down the line.
  • The novel lacks structure and direction. In the beginning its fine, the main character is still a toddler and world building is the biggest focus. But the school arc just grinds the entire story to a halt. Who are these characters? Why do we, the readers, have to get to know them? I thought the MC just wanted a quiet life. How come she's going to meddle and make herself stand out? And then we get to the point where I dropped it. Half the word count is taken up by supporting or irrelevant characters. Meanwhile the main character has gotten very, very little character development, but now we will focus on 20 different people. Makes zero sense to me.
  • Time skips and pacing. Oh boy I love random events taking forever to read through, only to get a simple time skip for the main story line. Oh boy I love reading about the main character struggling to improve herself and get stronger. Wait haha I wish. Instead there's another time skip and a brief description on what really happened.
  • Mumbo jumbo scifi speak that doesn't even bother to make sense. Genes becoming mediocre because someone in the family was too strong so it soaked up all the potential? That's not how genes work. Yet everyone still cares about genes? What did we just learn though? So nothing really matters?
  • You can skip every other chapter in the school arc. I'm not kidding. I skipped every chapter that didn't have the main character in it, and the story progressed as normal. This is a big red flag.
I may have been spoiled by Lord of the Mysteries, because I started reading this novel after finishing LotM.

Honestly just try reading the novel for yourself and see if you can spot some of the issues I've raised, or maybe find enough plot holes to sink a continent. <<less

Pretty good beginning but when the storyline falls apart, it doesn't fall apart slowly. The degradation is a huge cliff that isn't worth trying to read.

Happens multiple times too because the structure of the novel is completely nonsensical when it comes to actual military matters. The author *tries* to justify certain actions as cold hearted decisions, but I dare anyone to try to tell me that the decisions will ultimately result in a positive result.

Hell, even the beginning when we're told about the events that lead up to why the... more>> MC has to be strong becomes problematic later in the context of why it happened, and what happened *around* the decision. I.e if it was a cold hearted decision, then the results *must* match the price paid. I haven't seen any positive results at all.

A complete disaster of a novel once it hits the late 800's at best. (And honestly it got boring/repetitive much earlier on.) <<less

The novel is ok, not great.

I checked into it because of the cross dressing tab, I was really into that genre for a time and was interested in seeing where it would take me and for a while this started pretty good. There are a lot of inconsistencies that you have to just go with, or take the author's word for. Like for example the things about her spiritual level being too much for her body, and the world she is transported to being 10000 years in the future where... more>> things have "advanced".

Honestly it got so ridiculous though with the author's Chinese supremacy viewpoint, and the Empire (Japanese) being evil and behind all the terrible things that happen. It honestly made the whole story feel like it was supposed to be set in ancient times, because the biases on Gender, Nationalism, and Sexuality are so blatantly old fashioned that it's hard to believe a nation could even continue existing much less thrive in the many years in the future it's supposed to be set in.

That all being said, if you don't mind just turning off your head and just following along with what the author says, it's an ok read. There are some decent action points and the characterizations are entertaining enough.

This is a little vague, but I wanted to avoid spoiling anything for those who might be interested. <<less

It's not your typical transmigration/reincarnation story, well who will combine interstellar with mecha, martial art, gender bender, and host system.

At the start, I thought it will kinda boring repeat story, like level up, beat boss, and circling around like that.

I like MC which more macho than our common boys (lmao) how dense she is, well ML will start to move to around 1000ish chapter (so yes, it really really slow pace romance, almost none). And tbh, I almost think that the author really forgot that our MC is female, why?... more>> Because of almost 24 y.o and no one thinks she is a girl, some sign that if you looking for lovey-dovey romance better skip read it.

I don't know much about mecha or interstellar stuff, about how deep and good the author makes it. But for fiction and without editor support, I think it's passable to enjoy it.

Too bad now its hiatus, but overall, I recommend you to read it for fun. <<less

Starts out good and gets even better.

The story itself is average, but the way the author describes it makes all the difference. Instead of reading a ton of irrelevant info it's cut down to stuff that actually matters. Mixed in are moments of comedy and heartwarming relationships so you won't be reading straight monotonous plot. The only downside is that around the later chapters the translator changed or something and the quality went straight downhill. I'd recommend reading up to chapter 500 and let your expectations go after that. It's... more>> like someone made a bad copy of the original after the 500 mark. <<less

I absolutely adore this novel, it's my all-time favourite. Like, I can't even wait for the translated chapters to pile up like all the others. ?

IT HAS A GOOD STORY

IT HAS AMAZING WORLD BUILDING

... more>> IT HAS A FEMALE PROTAGONIST THAT ISN'T OBSESSED WITH LOVE, JEALOUSY AND CONSTANT REVENGE FOR EVERY PETTY GRIEVANCE

IT HAS CHARACTERS OTHER THAN THE MF WHO YOU ACTUALLY SEE GROW UP AND GROW AS PEOPLE ALONGSIDE HER

IT HAS DRY HUMOUR (my favourite kind)

IT HAS SCI-FI & MECHA, EVEN THOUGH IT'S A FEMALE PROTAGONIST (I could have cried when I realised it wasn't the same old crap, just because the main character was a woman. I'm a big Sci-Fi fan and this made my year!)

It really is something MORE than your average novel with a female protagonist, I can't stress this enough.

So if you like novels with a female protagonist who's a bit sadistic yet a mother-hen to the people she likes, who has a resting bitc-ahem, ice-block face because of reasons (hehe), who doesn't rely on the ML for everything and is stronger than the ML, who's forever sneaking closer to that 4th wall, who's an absolute BOSS! Then, you'll love this.

Plus, Sci-Fi! Mecha! Space Ships! Technology! Virtual Worlds! Military! Everything guys books have but girls books never do, until now!

Sorry, I'm rambling, but this really did make my year, I'm a total fangirl of this rare precious gem.

I'm praying the author decides to finish this before the translations catch up, (unlikely, but I'm praying for the first time in my life!).

I've seen a lot of bad reviews for this and to each their own, but I love it and I think many other people will do too. Give it a try! It gets really good after about 100 chapters and they are really long but I like long chapters soo... if you're after a quick read, this isn't it. <<less

Tldr; It's good. Definitely worth a read. It avoids harems, s*upid random romances for no reason, and has serious elements to it making sure that what you're reading isn't just a joke or waste of time. Character development is better than a lot of other novels, but I wish author was a little better since it would make the novel be amazing.

Pros:

    • Character is enjoyable. Thank God it's not a typical 'male' protagonist who has the hots for beautiful girls who are from a super rich and powerful family.
    • Side characters are actually developed (to an extent, before the author runs out of ideas and they become sidelined in favour of a new character to develop)
    • Story is decent, it's enjoyable to see a futuristic fantasy setting (at least some sort of sci-fi element which is rare for xianxia novel)
        • It slightly explores the theme of a predominantly male-dominated world and misogyny but it's not very good (but at least something)
        • Instead of being 'girls are actually strong as well', it kinda turns into 'girls have to be boys in order to be strong' - defeating the whole purpose of having a female protagonist.
Cons:

    • Main character become weak (in development) after chapter 200 (or so). The author gets lazy and just makes the protagonist op to make the story easier for them.
        • E.g. The character NEVER has to sacrifice anything every again. I wish the author developed the story around the protagonist's continual development as a person.
        • Since the character never has to sacrifice anything, the novel loses tension. Everything turns into a deux ex machina.
    • 'Male' protagonist. Even though the MC is biologically female, you will forget this 90% of the time. Since the MC is literally treated as a male (dresses up like one, acts like one, literally pretends to be one) instead of showing girl power by one-upping every male.
        • I personally don't care for female protagonists, but I would like to see it be more of a plot point or at least have a significant plot point at least this far into the novel.
    • Although this is typical of 90% of novels, the world is always expanding with new concepts shoved in, so sometimes it feels a little random, as well as the author breaking the fourth wall with in-text author notes, pulling you out of immersion.
    • Author is unable to develop the MC's strength through gradual long-term work and sacrifice, instead opting for deus ex machinas. E.g. Developed a new 'super power', MC is now stronger than people 20+ years than her.

First, let me say this: This story has everything I DISLIKE reading.

Genderbender, Sci-fi cultivation, No (may be little, I donno, haven't gotten to the point yet) romance, MC possesses all the unique things there to exists.

But till the point im right now i've been enjoying this story quite a lot. I'm not sure about the negative reviews but this story is woven very nicely. At times it might bore you with too much description, but I believe that's necessary. The author explains the future world very intricately and it add... more>> a charm to the story. If you are familiar with "overwatch' then this its even more fun and easy to imagine the world.

Now the characters are a different story. They are nice, but they are not unique from other stories. I'm still counting on the future chaps for more though. I strongly feel the inspiration for many characters is taken from over watch.

Coming to the fights, this im surprised. I basically hate Sci-fi fights cause it gives me a headache trying to imagine all those special effects in my brain. However this story did a good job maintaining a balance between explanation of effects and progress of the plot, without going off about intense mecha functions.

Also, the fights MC takes upon, though she wins them in the end, its not like other stories, where anti-heroes are powerless and braincells paving a way for glory of MC. Everything here is about strength, both of body and mind. Despite her unique resources, MC has to strive for that win.

Give this story a try, if you want something different from the usual CN stories being produced. <<less

It's probably very hard for others to recommend me a better wuxia novel other than this story. I really love how the protagonist isn't just someone who has a golden finger. I mean yeah, she has a cheat-like treasure but the FL isn't someone that just instantly became strong and badass just because of some unique magical protagonist ability or something. She actually works hard for it. She literally got the most torturous training for her to become someone deserving to be called BOSS LAN. And she kills it.

Who cares... more>> about romance? Her harem of strong loyal subordinates is enough. This novel is 5/5, no question.

Edit: Lol at that one reviewer calling ML stronger than FL. Mind you, the main internal conflict with ML is his inferiority complex because he is much weaker even compared to her friends like Qi Long, etc. Tell me you didn't read the novel without telling me you didn't read the novel. <<less
