A White Lotus Host Who Does Not Want To Be a White Moonlight is Not a Good Host

Bai Lianhua looks just like his namesake, a white lotus.

So it’s probably inevitable that a system came for him.

System: come, my dear host Bai Lianhua, please live up to your name, and with your white lotus aura that is dazzlingly divine, save those antagonists who have led tragic lives and who are to stand against the world in the future.

Bai Lianhua: …Wait, it isn’t my fault my name is like that.

Before, Bai Lianhua thought this would have been the most excruciating thing to happen to his life, until all his missions were completed, and he’s happy and excited to go home. His system which had always been acting cute wipes his face handsomely, and then gives him a mystifying smile, “in fact, my real name is Return System of White Moonlight.”

#Apparently, white lotus and white moonlight are great as a combo#

So, this was actually an all-in-one service featuring white lotus + white moonlight? The missions he thought he had completed were just the preludes to his missions to follow?

And so, after having acted as a white lotus waving brilliantly in the wind, Bai Lianhua will have to return to his previous worlds, as that white moonlight that never went away in each of the antagonists’ minds, and resave the world from their clutches.

Bai Lianhua: Wait! System, come back! Explain to me why all my missions failed after I left, and why all those guys who I had painstakingly dragged back into the righteous path still went awry!

Mr. Antagonist: Hm? What’s the problem? I’m really happy with this——Now I finally have the power to take this white lotus from the pond, and nurture it well within a vase [takes a fresh white●lotus in his hand, playing with it gently]

Bai Lianhua: …! [Like the small white lotus, shaking pitifully in the wind]_(:з」∠)_

If the system lied to you, don’t despair, don’t cry, please stay as quiet as a flower, and be a stretch of pure white moonlight.

I think that instead of the MC falling in love with the antagonist... it's more like falling in love with and saving the blackened protagonist. That's more accurate in my opinion.

Okay, so this novel isn't absolutely spectacular or top tier, but it's a decent read. The characters may not be the most developed and complex, but they have some personality. At least, I think so. There are some novels I can't stand for a few chapters because the characters are flatter than flat.

Some flaws:

Summary-ish because of the way the story... more>> is set-up. Since we don't actually see the MC's first time with the worlds, the details get given to us like a summary. Even when the arc really starts, it's still a bit summary-ish, but it becomes like a fairly normal novel, so don't be put off by the first few chapters.

Formulaic. It's not exactly a flaw because we're given what we're told. It's a decent quick transmigration BL.

Predictable. Again, it's a decent quick transmigration BL. We know what's gonna happen in each world approximately. Of course, there is the twist that I won't spoil.

Spoiler

Last 3 chapters summarize the twist pretty much. I'd advise you not to read it because you don't need it and it's not a big deal. Felt like it came a little out of nowhere though.

[collapse]

Focus on the MC/ML only. Again, it's a decent/average quick transmigration BL. Side characters are gonna be meh. Good thing the MC isn't dumb (He feels like a pretty average person, no high IQ or s*upidity) and isn't boring. The ML varies in each world, though they do keep some characteristics, so it's not totally boring.

Pacing is weird. Some worlds/arcs are shorter than others. Not a big deal though.

Small translation grammar errors. Not a big deal honestly. It's nowhere close to MTL.

Anyways, the worlds are pretty interesting! The vampire world wasn't as cool as I thought it'd be, but vampires in Chinese novels aren't common. The quality wasn't bad, so it's a decent read. Try it, and if you don't like by the end of the 2nd world, yeet it. <<less

Pure fluff. No drama. No driving. Nothing substantial about this. The love between the characters is written in less than ten sentences per arc.

Cute and can be a good framework for fanfics.

[Weak and fragile Gong x Powerful and Blackened Shou]

This novel is very unique among other BL novels.

The MC is weak in every world that I was quite surprised when the system suddenly mentioned that the MC eat/topped our powerful ML. Like, how did he do that?

... more>> There are too many BL novels nowadays that portrayed bottoms are weak and fragile, that finding a unique novel like this suddenly made me feel awkward at first.

Specially in the apocalypse arc, where the system couldn't help but complain about the shou's brain circuit, because obviously, the shou is very powerful in every world, capable of causing chaos in the world, but always end up being "eaten clean" by our MC.

I love the concept, however, I find their relationship disturbing at first.
Spoiler

This is certainly a sweet novel with some bittersweet endings, but I hate the fact how some of Chi Tang's alter ego acted too servile towards Bai Lianhua.

In the first world, the ML (Chi Tang) actually offered to refine himself into a pill to fulfill the MC's (unintentional) wish.

That's really a huge red flag, because it only highlighted their misunderstanding, and Bai Lianhua didn't even explain himself at first.

There's a world, I think in the fifth arc, where the ML chose to destroy himself, his career, and his passion, because of an off chance that if he's still as miserable as before, maybe the MC will come back and try to 'fix' him again.

Another example is the last arc, where the ML was the one who kept on investing something on their relationship. Like, passing on his cultivation base to MC, guiding MC on his way to cultivation, and even teaching the MC how to actually love someone.

Their relationship is a bit imbalanced that only the ML actually suffered some real harm from it, while the MC mostly benefited.

Specially the arc about dragon shou x merman gong. I really love sand sculpture characters, and suddenly finding a cute idiot being left behind by the MC pains me.

His character was too different from other villains, that I don't see him as Chi Tang at all.

The MC was too innocent that I don't find him cute anymore.

[collapse]

But don't worry, our ML is actually not a pushover. It turned out that there's a reason why he did all those stuffs :

Spoiler

The ML was a pond spirit named Chi Tang, while the MC, Bai Lianhua, was a white lotus spirit.

Chi Tang fell in love with Bai Lianhua, but the Bai Lianhua was too pure and couldn't understand love.

Eventually, Chi Tang's feelings turned into a heart demon, preventing him from making progress in his cultivation. However, he still couldn't confess his feelings to Bai Lianhua.

Bai Lianhua keeps on getting stronger but Chi Tang's progress in cultivation stagnated, so he became worried.

Seeing Bai Lianhua's worry, the Chi Tang decided to confess, while Bai Lianhua unhesitatingly "reciprocated" his feelings.

Although Bai Lianhua's reply was positive, Chi Tang knew that Bai Lianhua's platonic liking is very different from his romantic feelings. So, they both came up with an idea to make Bai Lianhua learn how to love the worst versions (Blackened) of him.

In each world, the Bai Lianhua's cultivation and memory was sealed and they fabricated a False memory about himself being an ordinary human. This prevents him to use his powers to solve the tasks.

His task is to prevent the antagonists from blackening, but system's plan was actually to make him fall in love with the Blackened ML (aka Chi Tang) and prevent him from causing chaos.

hhmmm The story is the comeback of MC to the world's he world hopped. From being the white lotus of the "antagonist" to being the white moonlight. The story is slow and boring. Too much description and MC plus system bickering. Mostly surrounds MC (Bai Linhua) and the antagonist plus some 2d characters. There's some a uniqueness of the story from other novels. There's no protagonist per world. It revolves around the Antagonist/main villain. Since it's just shounen ai don't expect too much. The author is saying that MC is... more>> the gong but I don't feel anything from him. There's this too about the system sealing MC's emotion. In some novels's there's a touch of that but based of my observation I think there's no need to do that in this story's MC. Although the system keep saying if it did not do that it will be hard for the MC. Well anyways the Antagonists gives moooore to the MC than the MC gives back in their relationship. The antagonist/s were kinda twisted in nature because of their past (and what the MC did to them-has a diff backlash) but they are passable ml's since they respect the MC and even says outloud what they are planning. Well due to their care and love for MC it just stays as plan, they can not take it to hurt him. All in all the story is passable, understandable but bland, I'm not excited or even laughed while reading the story. It's like a post /therapy story for the antagonist. I stopped @ chap 40 ish world 5
usually it's just 10 chap per world
some arcs: 1st world:cultivation, 2nd:virtual/psychic 3rd: ancient 4th world:evil/sword 5th:mecha 6th Oracle/ancient 7th vampire 8th ghost 9th Dragon/merman 10 Zombie!!!

then Finale: How did the MC really started the world hopping, overall the story is good, kinda fastpaced per world (there's too many>.<) just like I said sometimes it's boring. <<less

Euhm... This is not a bad novel, it's quick transmigration and most arcs are under 10 chapters long. I just wanted a not heavy completed fluff novel before going to read heavy plot ones again.

It hits the mark, but a bit bland and very vague, there are non existent kisses (i remember only one on lips?) and implication of any bed activity is nonexistent (of course it's shounen ai), but I wondered if ML had ever fully gotten together with MC in any of those worlds. Of course, they lived... more>> together till death in all of them with very vague feelings from shou tho.

Another point which confuses me and I don't know if I am only one. However... you see... all this time (till 10th arc) I thought that MC is shou (I still think so tho). I didn't read 'Seme Protagonist' tag, I rarely check tags to be honest, but I didn't feel any vibe or hints of MC being gong/seme. I will explain why: he is white lotus and white moonlight (usually signs of shou), he always gets weak bodies, ML always describes him cute and in one world as a cat, ML is always the strongest and possessive towards MC. Without seeing the tag it's very easy to understand my mistake (even tho I don't think it was mistake imo). So why 'Seme Protagonist' tag? In the last world there was sentence of MC 'eat up ML' or smth around those lines, but honestly I think it was more of MC finally getting more active in showing his feelings for ML. Whole novel is very very very vague so vague that it hurts and makes it bland like salad without any seasoning. To be honest, it doesn't matter if MC seme /gong or shou/uke, you can imagine anything as I said writing is so vague you can even imagine them being reversal couple (I have nothing against weak or pitiful looking gongs too).

MC description in the very last chapter, spoilers of real form too:
Spoiler

«Though at first, the little lotus seemed dissatisfied with his form. He would puff up, despising his weak and effeminate appearance.» Due to this I am pretty sure MC is shou.

I read this novel just to pass time and it did just that. <<less

It was so-so. The reason I'm actually giving it 2 stars is because I actually read another story written very similarly to this one. However, that story was divided into arcs. So arc 1 would be where the MC and ML met for the first time and later on and then there would be another called arc 1:re. Arc 1 would be their first interaction and arc 1:re when the MC returns back to the ML again.

I suck at summaries but if people want to see what I'm talking about... more>> the name of that story is called the heroic death system.

Since I read heroic death system first, I feel that this one could have been written better. It made me feel like I was missing half of the story. <<less

I do admit there is not much drama when it comes to the novel as a whole. It isn't until the very end that anything happens when it comes to the system and the mission. But at the same time, the arcs were particularly interesting in my opinion. Each one as an individual world felt quite emotional. I cried like an idiot every time the ML died in each world only to learn in the end that they were all the same person and that he was perfectly fine.

I have mixed opinions. It's a very cute story, and not a lot of conflict.

Spoiler

Basically the point of the story is that the antagonist was supported by Bai Lianhua, during his weak time, and then Bai Lianhua somehow dies/disappears only to come back and stop the antagonist from ruining the world.

[collapse]

-1 star: There's a lot of things (plot holes) that usually wouldn't make sense but I let it go because he's a White Lotus~~~.

-1 star: The romance isn't really there. I thought it was pretty sparse and not enough. The author basically flies over the topic of romance, and then they die of old age within a chapter. Thus the development felt awkward.

Also, there's nothing r-rated in the story (this did not count towards my rating lol or maybe it did). It was full of hugs and kisses every now and then.

+1 star: It was easy to understand the plot and why things happened.

-.5 star: But also because it was so easy to understand, that the plot was repetitive, and I knew immediately what would happen next. Very predictable.

+1 star: Because fluff. Some stories can be too fluffy, but I felt that this just about hit my maximum fluff level.

Therefore, 3 stars because I found it mediocre and it was a nice read over the week.

Here's more thoughts after I mulled over the story a bit:

Spoiler

I guess I also disliked that it was a relationship/story made because of a possessive/obsessive antagonist. The roles required Bai Lianhua to be the white lotus/moonlight, and thus his actions would have to be as such and he couldn't act on his real opinions. Making him actually not fit for the role of white lotus. This was a considerable part in the storyline. Oh I got it. It was a dubious consent of forcing oneself to stay with the antagonist due to these actions. Bai Lianhua didn't really want to stay, but he was forced to stay. The only world if I remember correctly, in which he was willing to stay in was with the dragon.

Or maybe cuz I'm scum and would rather read the more violent books in which people fight back against possessive/obsessive characters haha. Anyway, for me, the romance felt uncomfortable, and I felt uncomfortable for Bai Lianhua. The author could have definitely dug deeper into the romance aspect. Because even at the end... their relationship still didn't seem like "love".

  1. The sistema sucks
  2. ML IS the "white lotus"
  3. MC is a victim in all this ok!?!?
I started reading this because the seme protagonist Tag, if You are too... Stop... it's a lie!! or at least it is never clear, there is like one Kiss in the whole story and I really doubt the protagonist is the seme.

This tags are crazy, the story has all of them, but it still isnt any of them?? I mean it just barely touches each theme

Spoiler

The MC has this baised sistem (from the origins of it you reallize why at the end), but still it is a prick

Then his missions changes whitout notice, which pisses me off a lot, like WTF? What is the point of being a white Moonlight if it is the exact opossite of what the sistem was invented for... Also if it didnt seal the hosts emotions it all would be ended in the first arc

Anyway the poor ML is always happy in a miserable way, like don't do this to yourself dude, it isnt even necessary 🤦

My favorite arc was the dragons one it was kind Of fluffy but still saaaaad af

This story is fine. Maybe not phenomenal but good enough.

The translation is good except for the first (prologue) chapter. I am not the spelling nazi but hell I was having a hard time immersing myself in the story.

I saw reviews saying the world are repetitive... sure but I don't think that's it. Ummm... it had it's own adventure but it wasn't mind blowing. I think the main reason might be the writing style but then again I'm not sure.

It was a nice read. Worth giving it a shot.

This novel is not bad... its just NOT good either. The translation is quite ok, bit I feel that the novel itself is quite bland. To me it was a bit suffocating. I felt stifled by the fact that there wasn't any significant development in the romance category. I felt sorry for the ML since he seems very dedicated to the MC but the MC probably sees the ML as an NPC or something. The MC is very much a robot, but the fault probably doesn't lie with... more>> himself.
Spoiler

his emotions keep getting sealed by the system. So at this point I feel like I'm just abusing myself by watching the protagonists abuse themselves. One is too in love and can't let go despite the initial abandonment. The other seems almost apathetic but probably due to the system's interference.

[collapse]
At this point, I need a break from this to refresh my mind and read some genuine fluff. : (

On a positive note, the ML might be sort of a yandere, but he doesn't really force the MC into doing anything. There's barely any intimate moments upto the point that I've read. But you can feel how devoted the ML is. I genuinely felt like crying at his confessions (they're cheesy enough to be borderline cringey- still, my kokoro is moved! (ಥ﹏ಥ)

Tl;dr: Read if you have lots of patience and don't mind slow romance. <<less

It’s good, a cute simple read to pass the time. The translation is good. The story is coherent... but it’s not like oooh interesting! Ya know?
Essentially MC comes back to each of the MLs he made fall in love with him via white lotus without realizing (which, to be fair, is a VERY white lotus thing to do lol) and MLs are understandably a bit of a mess given he ditched them via various means. Ignoring MC’s character (which isn’t that interesting, even a little annoying at times but... more>> does have its moments of humor) the arcs itself are definitely repetitive.

The main story with all that drama and relationship building and faceslapping happened already, this is pretty much like fixing the epilogue to everything. The ML is blackened yeah, but his affection meter is pretty much almost maxed out nonetheless so other than the basic yandere drama MC has to deal with there isn’t much else in terms of conflict?

Overall though as I said it’s a good read, not a great read, but it’s nice. I hope the worlds get harder over time like the ML gets back with a poisonous FL or something just so I can read some faceslapping haha <<less

I just reached the third world/arc and I can honestly say that so far, this novel is:

50% back story/info dump

30% MC inner monologue

... more>> 10% MC scolding his system

10% plot

I don’t know if I want to continue. If the whole premise of this novel is set up like this in every world, I don’t believe I will continue.
I feel like what I’m reading is extras in a what could have been decent novel but of course if it had it would most likely end up like all other QT novels which is probably why the author had put this twist into their novel, one where an MC had to go and revisit the worlds they had been to.

Because these worlds/arc reads like extras, I find it hard to connect with the characters. I can’t seem to immerse myself into the novel because the critical information that makes the characters whole is insufficient. The heavy back story dump is probably the author’s way of compensating this connection between reader and characters but it becomes so overwhelming the initial plot is lost within it. By the time I finished reading a whole chapter’s worth of a backstory, I already forgot the beginning of the plot.

My opinion so far, good attempt at a different angle to QT novels, but shallow and lackluster presentation.

My rating will remain 2/5 stars until I can get myself to finish this novel. <<less

I thought the premise was interesting initially, but the actual execution of the whole "white lotus turns into white moonlight into an overturned white lotus" is a bit too clumsy XD. Too my info-dumping, is one problem. And then there's the even more serious issue of making a small problem into a big problem because of poor communication. Plus, throwing the readers into a dilemma before they can even get to know the characters enough to like them... I mean, if you're not too picky about your stories, and just... more>> want to experience a not-so-typical quick transmigration story, it can still be read. But it's definitely not the best out there, and not to my personal taste.

____________

SUMMARY: The MC, Bai Lianhua, has travelled through countless worlds, playing the role of a white lotus that heals the antagonists heart. Just when he thought his mission was finished and he could go back to his normal life, the SYSTEM tells him that he actually failed every one of his missions — with the targets of each world overturning and becoming villains once more after his death/disappearance. So now he has no choice but to go back to those worlds and try to reform his targets once more. Only now, there are "surprises" along the way. For example... the first target overheard the MC's conversation with the SYSTEM after he "died" and believes that he has bad intentions and just wants to use him. <<less

I don't think this will be my cup of tea... thankfully I've read the reviews before jumping in.

I don't like mc's who are passive, cowardly, naive or dumbish even more so if they act like a white lotus. MC being a top with one or more of those traits doesn't change much.

It can be a good novel... and I do love some QT... but yeah... gonna skip this one...

I can honestly say that this story is a story almost devoid of plot, and (at least for me) the fluff and sweetness didn't quite live up to the hype. This story is basically everything it says on the description. A 'white lotus' goes through worlds (Which we don't see, we only get a summary of what happened back then when he returns), only to return later, realizing that the antagonist has gone off track and he must attempt to right everything... Only, the white lotus protagonist doesn't really do... more>> much. Simply existing and talking to the antagonist helps them. It is as stated, the antagonists kind of just take the protagonist in and fix themselves and he doesn't do much.

All problems could've been fixed with merely talking, of course. It's a bit annoying at first, but I guess you could consider it explained at the end.

All the antagonists are yandere, and possessive and a few are overbearing, though notably, they seem to become softer as the protagonist travels through the worlds, but I could just have different standards. The protagonist being a seme affects almost nothing, other than a mention or two. In fact, I probably wouldn't have known the protagonist was a seme at all if I didn't reread through the tags and the reviews.

Of course, that doesn't mean the story is completely unmoving, I cried once or twice over antagonist. Despite the fluffy and sweet feelings, this is still a QT story, where the protagonist and their loved ones will inevitably separate. The system is mildly annoying and a bit frustrating, with how it behaves towards the protagonist. However, it's tolerable, and explained at the end of the story.

I can't state how much character growth the protagonist had, my memory isn't the best, and I didn't like the first arc all that much.

I don't think I have much more to say about this? It's as stated on the box, a weak and delicate but lovable white lotus must return to each world to act as a white moonlight fall into the arms of each antagonist and make each antagonist wish to be better, if only for their white moonlight. <<less

I'm seriously exhausted reading this. It's not terrible, it's a very basic story, with basic characters, and pretty basic plots. Really, the only tangible thing is the ML and he's pretty shallow as it is. The MC is scum, my heart really bleeds for the ml. If you want to read something with interesting world plots that are never discussed again after the first chapter of each world and just continued abuse of the ML then this is for you.

Couldn't continue reading. There's no actual progress, maybe I'm just used to fast-paced stories but this is incredibly slow and repetitive. MC and ML are one dimensional. MC is a pushover and can't do anything except prostate himself to the ML. ML I could somewhat understand in the first few worlds but the later ones made me incredibly frustrated. The system can go die in a hole, why did the author make them so insufferable?

One day I said that I won't read QT anymore. Okay...

    • No complicated plot, but many angst. I have no idea for what?
    • Short arcs
    • Everyone saying that MC is Top, but you won't believe at this.
    • ML is an antagonist, but unlike most male yandere, he is really caring and sorrowful bun who never hurts his crush. He thinks about safety and psychological condition of MC more than I'm about myself. (Sounds corny, but idk he always sacrifice and do everything for MC.)
    • ML isn't a pe*vert like other MLs. He really doesn't think about this, their love much more deeper than this. Maybe he is an impotent lol.
    • MI likes poetry haha, he can speak a lot and think too much about bad things.
    • It's also a good translation besides it was quickly enough.
