Thanks to various magic, the human race has been saved from calamity many, many times. Retaining his memories from his previous life, a boy, Shin, was picked up by an old man known to the world as a “Magi.”

Shin was brought up by the Magi, who had retired to a secular place, as his own grandson. With the memories of his past life, he absorbed the Magi’s craft and grew to be able to develop his own magic.

Then, the grandfather told him he has to become independent when he reaches the age of 15.

“Ah, I forgot to teach him common sense.”

The grandson who has grown beyond the level of normal people, lacked common sense; the common sense of the world. So to learn how to socialize, he goes to Earlshide Kingdom City to be admitted to Earlshide Advanced Magic Academy.

Amazing!

I cant say it's average. It is certanly lacking in some areas but OP main character is pretty much covering for it. You decide is that good or bad, The world revolves around MC and not in a bad way, the story is set around our Hero that makes it even more interesting. There are few drawn out fight scenes but everything thats done is revealing how powerfull our MC is.

The only downside is he's pretty strong at the very start.

Not a full 5 star review but if you... more>> like it you can make it 5 star. But for my read thru the writer skimped out on most of the sidecharacters that we see almost in every chapter. I HOPE he builds more on them in the future. <<less

Quite a decent novel if you're looking for a more relax-ish kind of novel, since at the point where I temporarily dropped this novel awhile ago due to lack of translations, the MC basically bulldozes his way through all his problems and saves the day with his ingenuity while having a nice little fan club revolving around him in school.

However, those people who are looking for more depth should probably not read this novel, considering that there's almost no backstory or circumstances surrounding the side characters. Its like, when the... more>> MC starts going to school, anyone who sees him gets attracted to him like some kind of magnet for no apparent reason.

One bad part of the novel is the author's writing. Considering that the MC is more or less super OP, one would expect the MC fighting capabilities to be out of the norm right? Well, the author could have handled this better, but nope, every time the MC does something epic, the author will make everyone go like "Oh I forgot, this guy doesn't have common sense" or "Well, if its Shin then common sense doesn't apply to him". This gives me the feeling that the author doesn't even put in effort into coming up with different reactions and just keeps pulling the same trick over and over at different situations, and to be honest, after seeing it chapter after chapter, it gets boring and repetitive. Seriously, I'm even wondering why this novel isn't named "The Magi's Grandson and his lack of common sense". <<less

Honestly its a great story, tailoring to the fluffy crowd. Let's be honest, the story basically takes the whole training aspect for 500 chapters, out and the MC is awesome from the start. However he lacks common sense in this new world, which can drastically affect the lives of millions.

For people who want the MC to suffer or experience setbacks (I mean its a power fantasy story why are you here then?) fret not, lots of big bad demon dudes later on that he actually has to fight, retreat, and... more>> defend the peoples he loves! Also fluffy wifu. <<less

I love the light flow of the story with the OP lead’s lacked of common sense and unintended overpowered inventions. Shin surpass everyone in magic and combat but he still stays humble. I also love the antics that his friends do around/ with him.

ITS TOTALLY WORTH READING for those who loves to read stories that not all actions, killings and stuff.

FUN read. Slow romance but budding and increasingly enjoyable. No Harem!! Yes the MC is perfect in every way and yes he solves all problems, but lacks common sense of the world. But that is what makes it fun to read how he does tings and thinks it is normal, while everyone around him just let their jaws drop in amazement at is actions. The author took liberties with some historical names here, but this is a fantasy so take it with a grain of salt. 4/5 stars as the... more>> MC is too perfect. <<less

If you are looking for a simple, naïve protagonist who is using his knowledge from Earth to be overpowered, has a high amount of integrity, and is extremely loyal to one girl (who is just as loyal back), then this is the one for you. It isn't a heavy read like some other web novels might be. It isn't too full of content, but it serves as a pleasant pastime. I acknowledge that there may be a few instances of plot conveniences, but overall, I very much enjoyed the series.... more>> I especially respect the protagonist for being especially loyal and loving to his romantic partner, which is actually unique amongst many web novels. <<less

An enjoyable, well-written story, though it's very classic and cliche. There is a short moment in the story where the number of cliches/stereotypes gets annoyingly high even for me, but improves after that.

This series starts so well, for the first 10 chapters or so, but quickly went downhill because of average story, MC's characterization, and the crappy romance. It was times like this I wished this series is harem.

3.5/5, 7/10. A review as of chapter 36. A decent series that can potentially screw itself over. It's a typical overpowered protagonist from another world series with very little that can be called unique. The main character is compassionate and powerful who loves a shy and kind bishoujo with a practically perfect life. However, it is executed well, which is why it's currently rated so high by me and many others. The writing is good (helped along by the great translator) and it picks up with great battle/action scenes whenever... more>> it's about to go into a lull. However, due to the intrinsic "perfect" nature of the plot, I'm scared that the series will write itself into a boring hole that only knows how to praise its main character. It seems like it's not heading in that direction, but it easily can and only time will tell if it does so. Until then, Magi's Grandson is a solid reincarnation/fantasy/romance series with great action, enjoyable characters, and a well-built world. <<less

Okay well this isn't the usual go on adventure and become famous this. MC is reincarnated and found by the one he calls Grandfather who takes him in and takes care of him and starts to teach him magic. Magic in this world isn't about spells but rather the imagination. Being am adult in a child's body he has more knowledge from a more advanced world. But the thing is while he was learning magic and swordsmanship from various people who came to visit his grandfather no one taught him... more>> how this world actually works. So while he is technically an adult in that world he has no idea how money or any of that works. So to help him learn some common sense and help him get a clue about how OP he actually is (cause he thought what he can do is normal) he gets enrolled in one of the kingdom's magic schools. And it's basically cute magic school romance with some action thrown in there. Anyway I enjoy it and if you like clueless overpowered MC then give it a shot or don't idk your choice. <<less

It's not the best isekai but it's still fun to read and a lovely follow-up to the anime. I think the author dropped the ball somewhere around chapter 80 though. Prior to the 80's, it was mostly smooth sailing and endless wow factor from the main group and then suddenly they do something incomprehensibly and uncharacteristically s*upid. I'm still curious to know the end though so I'll keep reading.

Another generic reincarnation stuff, but not as bad as I expected.

It's quite the same as another isekai, reincarnation stuff like that.. But as far as I've read, it became quite interesting which the MC apparently lacked some kind of manner and it's kinda interesting. I love how the MC didn't take advantage of being surrounded by girls and just chose one as his lover.

I think this Light novel has some sort of potential to be better, but the author should grasp the readers' intentions. At least, it's worth reading this... more>> novel. <<less

It's way too absurd. It would be somewhat better if he had no memories of his past life and only the knowledge, because that lack of common sense is just a no go for me... And even then, he just never realises the possibilities of what he does until they say it to him. I didn't enjoy it, so I can't recommend it, but it wasn't THAT bad, so I give it 2 stars.

This is an extremely enjoyable OP isekai story. It's very fun and the relationships and interactions between the MC Shin and everyone else are very amusing. It's a comedy more than anything else and each chapter is pushed forward mostly to see what banter the characters will have with each other.

It's also very refreshing that the MC has a strong love interest and avoids having every female in the world fall for him. I dont mind the idea of a harem, but many seem to be composed of every female... more>> character that is met for no particular reason than proximity. Seeing a monogamous relationship from nearly the start of the story is really great.

That being said, the villains of the series are less than interesting. They just revealed the backstory and motivations of the big bad and I'd honestly rather the story just be Shin and his friends. Because of the translator switching around and there being a gap of some chapters coming up, I'm probably not going to continue.

The real biggest weakness is just that we do not get to spend much time with most characters besides Shin, Aug/Gus, and Merlin & Melinda. <<less

well, as others say, this novel is the typical OP MC story. So, if you're expecting a great story, I dont recommend you to read this, you'll just get disappointed and irritated. Well, as for me, I did enjoy reading this somewhat light (trying hard to create an interesting plot) and wish-fulfillment type of novel. Its fun, though sometimes you'll really notice that some characters are 'unrealistic' (2d). And the events, are sometimes 2D too.

Just an average day to day of changing people's lives with your lack of common sense. Good story with OP MC and comparisons and such.

This a an alright story and a good read for the wait for updates to better stories. This does not have jack sh*t for any deep characters, great plot or anything else really. Story is quite predictable and cliche here and there. The synopsis pretty much is the entire story in a nut shell. He is OP to just being the very point of silly and not entirely aware of it which is the leading punchline to most of the humor.

The point where it is at and progress of the... more>> story is good with so far. No sign of some bullsh*t coming out of nowhere, popping out suddenly and getting everything absurd like some other stories. Simple, light hearted, and comical in a nutshell. <<less

I'm going to leave a review because I really like this novel, the translators aren't what we call fast in novelupdates but they're decent and they make quality work.

Magi's grandson is about the grandson of a Magi ahaha. So the MC is a reincarnated person, like 90% of the novels, he's adopted, sorry for the "huge spoiler" but the grandfather still wants to develop him and transform him into an OP character. His strengthening process during 15 years is pretty fast pace so the main plot is in the academy.... more>> He's slowly building the romance and the action is really good. The attacks and magic are diverse since his imagination is really good and allows him to do amazing things. His knowledge from the other world makes him unbelievably cheated in the other world, the gag of him not understanding why the others are surprised is a bit overused but it's tolerable. Really good novel ! <<less
