Before her rebirth, Wei Luo was an innocent little girl.

After rebirth, she appeared lovable on the outside but was a different person on the inside.

Those who learned of her true nature yielded to her.

Only the prince regent regarded her as a treasure; no matter how much he pampered her, it was not enough for him.

Anything she wanted, he gave her, including the princess position that she didn’t want, which he stubbornly pushed onto her.

To be honest, it's a good novel. However, there are points in the later chapters that disturbed me. I felt bad about it and still wonder if it could of been excuted in a differeny way. I'm still far from the ending, but where I'm currently at has gotten be curious about the Emperor and Empress' story. The leads are good, but the side characters attracted me more, because I feel they have more character depth than the leads. I hope I get to see what happened between the Empress... more>> and the Emperor.

(Edit)

I feel the story should of been excuted to end better.
Spoiler

like, I know she does not want to forgive the mother, but I feel the mother should of appeared more. Like her, I would be mad too if my mom abadons me. But in the end, she tried to see them. Tired to want to understand them, but FL's refusal to acknowledge her and her stubborn personality disallowed her to try and understand her mother.

[collapse]

The story doesn't really resolves any of the Wei's side of story. A lot more could of been added. I also feel that the writers put a lot of importance to the brother, but did not excute his part well. There is so much that could of been added to make the story feel more completed. I also feel that some of the side characters, even though were evil in FL's past life, could of at least met with a better end. IDK this novel gave me so much feels that I feel some part should of been written differently. I also still don't understand why
Spoiler

Li Song loves FL,

[collapse]
but I guess the side story kind of made Li Song's ending end in a good way. I'm still not sure why people like Li Song's character. I got more attracted to Song Hui's character. I still would of liked it to be a little longer though. I feel there should be a prequel for the Emperor and Empress' story too. In the end, their story interested me more. <<less

At most a decent novel

I find this novel after looking for a romance that will make me feel fluffy with many heartwarming scenes, but it's just not what I expected. You can only read this novel if you try to get away from your main novel becoz for whatever reason.

what I dislike about this novel is the unclear goal. Until I read chap 60 I still didn't know what is our MC's goal. I mean like another novel that reincarnated coz revenge or transmigrate or live a leisure life, you'll... more>> end up finding one of what I mentioned before. But, I can't find any purpose of our MC in this novel. Still, you most likely to love this novel if you need to relax from such a gruesome novel like Warlock of the Magus World I guess?

Another thing that I need to mention is about MC's mental age. When WL is six years old, she has 15-17? Mental age, but its kind of change after she becomes 13 that her mental age is dropping, at least that's what I saw. She must have 20-ish mental age in her 13 years old body. But, it seems like reincarnated makes her brain damaged haha.

Well, that aside. I think I'm going to drop this one. Maybe I will read it again in the future or maybe not, it depends on my mood. <<less

I agree with Matpatpat's review. Read hers.

I gave this an honest try but... OMG. How is this a good novel?

Despite every other thing wrong with this novel, as of Chapter 23

This LN mainly focused on the romance part, which is GOOD! Most reader commented on the large age gap between the MC and the ML, and the young MC, but we should take notes that this LN setting was in ancient China and I think the age of the MC doesn't really matter much, and about the age gap, ML was part of the imperial family so... LOL anyway I love the age gap between MC and ML (furthermore MC wasn't actually that young because of the time travel, so... more>> mentally MC was way older than her physic).

Spoiler

I really love the R17 romance theme in this LN, I rarely find Chinese LN with 'adult' romance. I do think ML deserve thumbs up because ML doesn't force MC anything. The most 'exciting' thing they did before marriage was a hand job, and I love all the 'small' talk between MC and ML. Love this!!!!

I really have mixed feelings about this novel. It's a bit like when you have a sore place on your body that you should not touch for it to heal, but instead you continue to meddle with it. Sort of how you should not read this novel but it's hard to put it down once you do read it.

Actually if the female MC did not exist I would have really liked this story and would have given it 5*. Good plot, good character development, the author kept the story straight,... more>> it's not too slow paced either.

but that girl... if you got low EQ just stay that way, why pretend that you got some brains?

Never mind. Read at your own risk. <<less

Instantly thought of Mei Gongqing and The Princess Wei Yang, and since I like both I feel very positive about this. The translation for the pilot chapter is excellent considering the translator is only starting to learn the source language.

Okey, I read This tr*sh a while ago, but, checking what ratting a gave I read a comment that Im compelled to answer to.

Lets forget about all the others red, like crimsom red, red flags there are. Lets Talk about the age gap.

There is this comment about how, as it is a novel based in the ancient times, the while romance its somehow okey. Not only I agree with that, but Just yesterday I used It in one comment in the "to be a dodder flower" novel.

There I talked about... more>> Emma (Jane Austen's) and how that particular age gap its not that bad.

Age gaps are not bad pero se, its about the context. There are two main points about that, and they are born from the same question. At what age do they meet?

Lets say they meet as in the novel (and This novel, as far as my memory goes, does not have that much of an age gap, like ten years?). There are two main outcomes of This.

1. They do meet as child and teenager, but they don't see each other often, or there is a point in time where they don't see each other for years and when they meet again they are grown up. That gives you a sense of first impresion, as if they meet for the first time. And usually the feeling of "This is a child" is no more on the older partner. You have time and a chance to develop feelings without being a creep.

Then we have the other way around. The meet as in this novel, and they grow up side by side till they start their romance. Some would call This grooming, and in of the same mind. You may think that he "doesn't think about her from the start" and that he "doesn't groom her from the beginning", but lets be clear, the "he is the ML" feeling starts from the beginning.

Not only that, but he is half the novel thinking about her as a baby, a child thats playing grown up. And then one day (when she is like 12 and he almost 30?) He is like, oh, she's pretty. What??

And let me tell you, the comment above that's about "its the ancient times", the coming of age/hairpin ceremony for Girls was 15, and when you are 20/30 3 years are not a difference, but 12 and 15 are surely not the same. It can be a die in childbirth difference, and its certainly a know/not know what s*x is different. When you are 12 (more so if you are a girl) you don't care about s*x unless they tell you about It.

And lets be clear, when you go for the "its about x time/century and It was socially right" its not about the book/story pero se, its about the writter. For Jane Austen, the Brönte sisters, and so on authors, that was acceptable. Today is not.

And im not about "lets not write about This cause its morally wrong (bc there are many many reasons to write like This, like parodies or controversy, like GOT). Its about (another) two things (but this time im goong to be quicker) A. He could do a time skip (either well or bad written, This novel its not about quality). B. He could have done a narrower age gap (lets say 8 and 12), then you start the romance when she's 15 for all I care (even if its a little weird).

Let me say one very true thing. We become our actions. This stands for when you act against your moral guides, once, twice, and so one, then you obsorb those as tour own.

Its the same with reading. We become what we read. You start thinking, WoW This is not right, the its "meh I don't mind It", and on It goes.

This is not a social critic novel, and the author knows It. And so the implicit message It gives (wether the author wants It or not) is "This Is okey".

2. (I had to scroll up to recall what I was talking about XD) The meet when they are more than 22 or more and they are both adults, then I would say its fine. And maybe you'll think, why not when she's 15? Cause in that time that would be right, right? Well I wouldn't agree with that in the same way of the "Im what I read way". That wide age gap wouldn't be necessary for the plot, and It may at the end lead you to think things would be okay even today.

A good example would be GOT, and This novel uses controversy to gather attention, and It translates in the show (in*est being the biggest) but in the Khal-Dany relationship they don't translates the "she's 12 (or 14? I don't recall) yo the show. And some of you light think its because the p*rnography (and thats indeed a good point), but there's a lote of shows that show teenager s*x as plot.

The biggest reason would be, would you see a show where a 12/14 girl has s*x with a grown up? No. It would have ended at the pilot, canceled. Bc even if you advocate for the "It was ok at that century", we are not at that time, and books/TV shows have a great deal of influence in us. Thats why modern takes of old stories usually adapt them talking away those tiny bits of "This is not right" that can be something like the age gap. Like clueless.

And I feel I have to excuse myself here, why I read this? And eventhought It was years ago, I was still mature enought to understand that This was bad. So lets faces other Big problem. We have certain mentallity that because she's reborn, she should be 16/20 (I think?). And thats kind of a problem, we only see It from the MC, but HE DOESN'T KNOW IT. He thinks (and there's even another comment that talks about how shes mentally a child still BC trauma) shes a child, eventhougth she's smart, or mature, she, fisically, is a child. And thats not okey. So may you think twice befire you read another of This kind of romance. He is a pe*ophile, whether shes mentally older or not. Think of It This way, today, would you condone a relationship between a mature/childprodigy and a fully grown adult? No? Then This is almost the same.

And This is where I finish, bc there are a lot, lot more of red flags the biggest for me (and the reason I stopped reading This) was the feeling of r*pe. And yes, I say r*pe, bc almost every time they had s*x It gave me the feeling of her not wanting to. And thats where I draw the lime, seriously, why do asians feel like Girls should shy away/dislike sex??

Apologies for the grammar, its a mix of not being my mothertongue and my corrector (?). <<less

TBH I had a high expectation for this novel since there were so many recommendations for this novel. But I thought it was average. It's not so bad that you can't bare to read it. But it isn't so good that it's memorable either. I read this about a week ago and honestly the thing that I remember most about it is how weird the age gap made me feel. I guess technically it's acceptable bc of her rebirth and her mental age is older. But every time something in... more>> the plot mentioned their age (and it happened quite a lot) I would internally cringe and would have to remind myself that she was reborn. But, whatever it is, the ML was not even aware of her rebirth so his actions are super creepy. I guess just don't think about it. Bc delulu is the solulu... right? <<less

It's history is good, but it has its cons. I was a little uncomfortable, especially in the part where ML started to show that he liked MC, because of her age, but then I remembered that the plot took place in ancient China where it was normal for girls to commit so young, so I managed to get there until the end, apart from that, the story is very good.

I like the novel as it is not that heavy-scheming story. I like the ML and his way of pampering the MC. Though he was called tyrant and cold but he is not that yandere-ish type that unreasonable. Also, I like the part of MC's pregnancy where ML was reading everything about pregnant women, all the changes and difficulties during pregnancy and even mentioning right info about pregnancy. What I don't understand is why the author gave Li Song a happy ending. Li Song doesn't deserve a happy ending in... more>> past and current timeline.

In past timeline, he used five mineral powder on Chang Hong to end the engagement between his sister and Chang Hong. Chang Hong didn't do anything wrong to him or Li Xiang, he just unfortunately engage to his sister. And I think there is other ways to cancel their engagement esp. That Li Song is from a military family and making Chang Hong a drug addict is not the only way.
In the current timeline, he was the worst to gang r*pe Wei Zheng to his scoundrel friends and later to residence guards. I understand that he despised Wei Zheng but to gang r*pe her that's worst. He can just ignore Wei Zheng since he's also at fault by entering a girl's room without permission. That's why he doesn't deserve to had a happy ending.

There were other characters that should be reborn instead of him like Liang Yu Rong and Zhao Luili of past timeline. Like Ah Lou, they were victims of circumstances. Or Gao Dan Yang. Though I understand why the author let her suffered in Wu Rong country. As like what Ah Lou always said, you reap what you sow. She tried to kill Ah Lou, didn't give up of Zhao Jie after all the explanations and persuasion of all people around her and even planned to be second wife or concubine of Zhao Jie. And given the characteristics of the fourth prince of Wu Rong country, it is reasonable that he knew that it was Zhao Jie who was behind the ambush since he provoked Zhao Jie. BUT NOT LI SONG. HE DOESN'T DESERVE A HAPPY ENDING. <<less

I enjoyed this story so, so much!

It is definitely a very stereotypical revenge novel with OP protagonists, but since I've always loved cliches this is right up my alley. Besides, I knew what to expect when I started reading it and that is why the plot, the characters and the interactions didn't put me off.

I understand this is not for everyone, I understand that the ML is very much a tyrannical, possessive, obsessed, yandere ish, and a lot more adjectives that from a modern perspective are less than acceptable, protagonist... more>> but this is a historical fiction romance novel. The standards are what the author wants them to be and if that is what you like, good, if not, this is going to make you uncomfortable.

There are few cannon fodder who are pitiful, a few loose ends, so it's better if you keep a mindset of suspended reality so that you can enjoy this more light-heartedly.

Remember, the story is about the pampering of a traumatized, slightly psychotic, softcore yandere FML by a vicious, cruel and vindictive ML. There are heavy endings for a lot of cannon fodders who might or might not deserve it. Whether you can enjoy this story is entirely based on your moral standards and bottom line. <<less

If you can get through the first few chapters then it's an enjoyable read. I had dropped it a while ago after reading the first five chapters because it felt too childish but recently, I gave it another try fully prepared and it was entertaining enough,

Things to keep in mind:

  • These two leads are both ruthless.
If you are the kind that gets troubled when the punishment is cruel, then this isn't for you. There aren't as many instances of it as other novels, but it's there. I didn't have a... more>> problem, though. The author made it known early on that these characters were like that so I just focused on them being happy and it was all okay.

  • Possessive male lead, goes without saying.
  • Everything goes smoothly.
If you want angst or heartbreaking moments, this is not the novel for you right now. Even if you want suspense, I had none because I just knew everything would work out. It's that kind of novel and I liked that. It may have been a little boring towards the end, but it entertained me enough to keep reading. I'm currently reading another novel quite angsty and I needed one that could cool me down, this did the job.

  • There are some scenes with gore in it and some other things worth of placing a trigger warning (like r*pe). It doesn't involve the leads though, the antagonists are the ones that suffer and it isn't too descriptive or extensive but beware, the translator put a warning for some of those.
Final thoughts: just take it for what it is, a ruthless ML pampering the perfect and ruthless MC. If you go into the novel expecting to read just that, then you'll get that.

For what I needed which was a non angsty time without any frustration, I quite enjoyed it. Still, I couldn't rate it more than two starts because the plot really is too simple and if I had wanted something with more substance I would have dropped it. So timing is truly important even when choosing what to read. <<less

questionable plot. Questionable characters. Especially ML. Though the setting was in Ancient China, still since I have a conservative and prejudiced thinking I can't help but not want to continue reading.

While reading this, I can't help but think how pedophilic the ML is. FL has a vicious character, not likable for me. Though there are times where I can approve her actions especially towards the 'villanous characters'. Yet there are times when I think how ruthless and thoughtless her actions where. This book can really bring out my worst thoughts!

Don't be discouraged by all the negative reviews. This is a very good novel.

Spoiler

Yes there are some problems with the age, only because she is reborn as a very young girl and met the ML as a young boy 9 yrs older than her (She's 6, he's 15), but the overall plot is full of fluff and doting. Just forget their ages. Lol. He became romantically interested in her at 13, waited to marry her at 15 (that's the age girls get married in that novel).

I wouldn't compare this to Mei Gongqing or other revenge reincarnation stories. First of all, except for Li Song, the MC did not actively take revenge or hurt people who have wronged her in the past life, but she was unsympathetic and aloof to them. Same as "The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage", sometimes the antagonist caused their own demise, but unlike Shen Miao, Wei Lou does not scheme but rather it was Zhao Jie who tried to protect her as much as he can manage. I think the most scheming she's done here is to act cute with her father, brother, her ex-fiancee and Zhao Jie, the ML and she is nice to some people. It's not really a scheme.

[collapse]

As for the angsty Li Song

Spoiler

It is a love-hate relationship for him. He's totally obsessed with the MC which could have made for a wonderful second lead, only what he did to his wife is so disgusting, it's irredeemable. At first, I like his character as the angsty, one-sided love but he deserves a lot of bad things that happened to him. The MC is really protective of his younger (twin) brother. In the previous life, he and his sister ruined her brother's life, and almost killed her brother twice in the present life so she really hates this guy and maimed him a couple of times.

There is a side story about him being reborn again to the original timeline of Wei Lou before she died in her stepmom and stepsister's hands. But think of it as a separate short story, not connected to the main, coz that main LS is irredeemable. He is still obsessed with the MC, but her personality is different and he gave her a choice and did not push her and protected her in that lifetime, he eventually got his happy ending there, married to the MC.

[collapse]

For those saying the MC is dumb, she's not. She lived her second life like a regular person of that time. She is originally from a good family, she is good to those people who are good to her and ignored those who are not nice to her. Don't expect a person who was uneducated and poor in her past life and was reborn back to her 6 years old self to be a genius like some of the rebirth stories. She's a regular girl. She educated herself (books and deportment), she learned how to make herself prettier (creams and oils), and she made use of what she has to improve her life and did not scheme against other people to hurt them.

About the author

Spoiler

Although this is a really good story, I have a problem with how bias this author is. First, the author punished the evil men here with easy death or trauma, but the women have it harshly.

That lady who was married off to the foreign country's a-hole prince just so she won't cause future trouble to the Main Characters did not deserve a hard life. She's not evil and she spent her youth waiting for the ML to marry her (Although he expressed many times that he's not interested in her, their parents gave her hope). Meanwhile that prince only got ambushed and hurt a little.

MC's cousin from the mistress. Yes she tried to seduce and spoke some bad things and tried to marry above her station. The author made her a concubine to another a-hole which would have been enough suffering, I think, but the author had to take it an extra step by selling her to the red district. Meanwhile the a-hole husband got traumatized by going into the torture chamber to watch people getting tortured.

And finally, the evil stepsister from the past life WZ, she is bad but unlike Shen Miao's sisters who are truly evil and tried to evilly scheme her everytime, this stepsister in this rebirth is just jealous but never made any move against her since the MC got everyone's doting. The most that she did is try to trap the MC's former fiancee into marriage but got LS by mistake. Death is too easy according to the author, so she had to be r*ped many times. Translator and some comments disqus if she could have turned into a nicer person since she was just 5 and it's a prime age to form personalities, but sadly, unlike the MC who got doted on by their Dad and twin brother, plus fourth Aunt, the ML, not to mention, the Queen and Princess Liuli, WZ only got her mother and second Aunt who are not good people, and their Dad always takes MC's side (she likes acting cute. Imagine some villains acts cute while the MC usually are stoic/tsundere, it's the opposite here. But quite like Shen Miao who acts cute with her family.

And lastly, that singer who witnessed LS biting WC's neck got her tongue cut off just because she saw this happened to the then Princess consort MC.

I think this author is anti-women when it comes to punishing the villains.

[collapse]

End of rant against the author. He's bias against Li Song, btw. Even gave him a wonderful second chance story.

But aside from those, this is a very good read. The story is good. The translation is excellent. I would like to thank fuyuneko for the wonderful job she's done. The translation included pics and explanations to make the reader visualize some things like the clothes, the hairstyles, the antiques, etc. It's really awesome. I also like the ending. It was not rushed. Happy ending. There are also some wonderful side character love stories that have closures. Also, some snu snu and a lot of fluff. <<less

I'm giving 3.5 for this novel.

Overall, form my opinion it's nice but I won't say that it's very good. I like it because it is not too short or too long.

But the plotting is not that interesting and you can expect it. It is sweet but the sweetness are too repeating I guess. And I just don't like it when the men are just too pushy. Well, this is only my opinion.

What made me really happy while reading this novel is the Rebirth of Li Song (even though it was just a dream). He was given a chance to be upright and to be happy. I'm soo proud of him.

I wanna point out some things tho:

1. It made me think twice on the word "pampering". Well, for me, it does not translate to s*xual abuse to a child/teen.

2. Wei Chang Hong as the twin brother was merely/minutely became a side character which I vaguely understand and was not given a clear... more>> ending.

3. The story was like a straight flowing river without rocks. Although it was fine but it really made the story a bore.

Overall, it was a good read. <<less
