Kamijou Takuma was one day caught up in a hero summoning with his whole class.

While each and every one of Takuma’s classmates got powerful abilities, Takuma got Drilling (Hole digging).

Branded as useless, Takuma was driven out of the Royal Castle. While inevitably digging a hole, he chanced upon hot springs. With a great effort, Takuma was determined to run an Onsen. However, that Onsen included a cheat-like effect of raising stats upon entering──

He runs the Onsen while sometimes kicking his annoying classmates around.

Obligatory beast girl s*ave who is abused to death before being saved by MC, and then falls in love with him as a willing s*ave. MC does whatever the f*ck he wants because the author cant make the MC have realistic reasoning. Cliche of MC who gets op without earning it and then proceeds to humbly do whatever he wants while making those who actually worked for their power see mount tai... Multiple times... Taking pride in humbleness.

Reading the description I immediately think it shouldn't be anything special but because it update quite often and the rating is good I took the bait.

First thing first, Thank the translator for your hard work... Now for the review.

This is the blandest novel I have read in quite a while. Nothing special, everything is so cliche that it is not funny. I don't feel anything when I read it and trust me I'm quite emotional. I don't even laugh once in all 15 chapters. It's just plain old boring thing.... more>> Only good thing about this novel is that cooking description is goodish but this isn't cooking novel so...

If I were to compare this to food it would be plain omelette without any seasoning. It doesn't taste terrible but it is so bland u gotta ask why would you eat it? it's like the author read a book on how to make a cliche jp novel and following it to a T. Absolutely no originality.

So there we go my feeling after I took the bait and read 15 chapter of it. I deem it a waste of time. Now I will go read something else and will forget the story in like 30 minutes, there's just nothing new in it. <<less

It's a fun read, good for passing the time. Just don't expect an epic and you will have fun reading it too.

I really tried to read this one, taking it as a light read, but everything from the writing style to the MC personality made me lose focus more and more to the point where I just stopped.

You just can't expect anything from this novel :
- The MC has just no personality, he just acts... like a Japanese guy, he makes references to his country (cf onsen), but that's it.
- A cliche novel is normally not a bad point for me but there you won't even find a tsundere... more>> character because no character is developed well enough to know.
- After reaching something like chapter 20 I realized that I forgot what happened in the previous chapters.... it just passed by me.
- The only bit that presented the why of the Onsen power is just an illogical excuse.

Can't recommend it. <<less

Isekai Onsen is a really nice light read. There's nothing much on the plot, and characters are more or less a bunch of cliches, but the narrative could properly convey underlying nuances without being excessive, including the charms of an onsen. It made me want to go to an onsen or something like that...

I was going into this one not expecting much at all, especially after reading the reviews, but I am glad to say that it was fairly nice despite its flaws.

The writing is not of the highest quality, the translation is alright but suffers from some fairly serious issues.

I do get that leaving the "end of phrase" things is a very Japanese thing, and it translates very poorly in English, so leaving it as is somewhat works, but leaving whole phrases that can be properly translated as well as words that... more>> do have a meaning that's easy to translate leave a very "rough" and "unfinished" feel to the translation. "Otsukaresama" left as is (means roughly "thanks for your work" at the end of a shift/day). "Irasshaimase! Isekai Onsen e Youkoso nanodesu!" just can be translated really easily, even if you want to keep the name of the establishment "Welcome to Isekai Onsen". The "Irasshaimase" and "e Youkoso" both mean welcome, and a proper translation in correct English is as above, but it is left like this multiple times, in multiple chapters.

I have not stopped on the usual big grammar issues though, so at least it seems to be right on that front.

As for the story, it's fairly basic all things considered, but at least it tries to incorporate other characters and to give those a personality. It does not really succeed in doing so, as everyone remains very one dimensional and only have superficial personality, but at least it tries, which is much more than we can say for a lot of those stories that use basic writing and that don't seem to have a story attached.

As a result, after a first arc about setting things up, I can say that it's worthy of getting a 3 from me, and I am probably going to read chapters after they are released. <<less

MC wants to build an Onsen. OP abilities allow him to do it for cheap and spread it to the masses. A very relaxing, semi-plot-less story. I can't exactly explain why I liked reading it, but I also can't easily explain why it wasn't a great read.

Too bad its dead.

This was such a great find for me.

Its got a relaxed take of what could have happened if Nagumo Hajime (Arifureta) didn't fall off the abyss (since their powers are so similar)

It was just relaxing to read, so relaxing, that I feel that im in an onsen xD
