Jun Xiaomo, notoriously known as “Lady Demoness”, finds herself chained and bound in a dungeon. Her hard-earned cultivation has been completely crippled, and she has no means of escape. Qin Shanshan, a lady she used to called her “close friend”, mocks Jun Xiaomo, revealing that Jun Xiaomo had been used by the people around her. Even her lover, Qin Lingyu was one of the masterminds scheming against her. Jun Xiaomo watches her life flash before her eyes and realizes that she had indeed blindly placed her trust in people. Her naivety had led to her current predicament.

Jun Xiaomo wanted to end it all. However, she is determined to deliver a swan song. Over the hundreds of days tormented in that very dungeon, Jun Xiaomo had painstakingly painted a complicated formation array with her own blood. With a determined look, Jun Xiaomo burns her life force to activate the array. Her sole intent? To bring with her as many schemers to the gates of hell as she could. The bright red light from thearray intensified, and the end was nigh.

…or was it? Jun Xiaomo opens her eyes and finds herself alive again; time had rewound right back to when she was sixteen years of age, albeit only at the eighth level of Qi Cultivation. Armed with the knowledge and memories of her previous lifetime, Jun Xiaomo is determined to learn from her mistakes and bring retribution to those who so deserve…

My rating is closer to 2 than 3 stars, but I want to balance the too much harsh 1 star rating. The plot is nothing new, a woman gets reincarnated after being betrayed and dying painfully so she vows to get revenge on everyone who wronged her. The story is entertaining, there are funny moments and sweet scenes if you like romance but the focus is on the cultivation aspect. It's a decent read, though hampered by too many defects.

The main problems are undoubtedly the too much "telling not showing",... more>> the repetitions and the MC herself. Many times there is too much over exposition of concepts and repetitions of things said and re-said dozens of times. Like we are told so many times that the MC was an expert who lived on the run for hundreds of years relying on her skills but that expertise seems to be evaporated as she often acts naively and makes silly mistakes. There is nothing wrong with a weak or clumsy protagonist, but then the author should stop saying how cool and great she was in the past.

The side characters are forgettable as we have the usual cast of black and white villains like the evil ex boyfriend, the white lotus female and a bunch of other cultivation sect's members who are just there to act as the flock of sheep who can't distinguish between good and evil and so blindly follow the evil sect leader. <<less

Reading frm begining to c47 ->skip to middle -> skip toward the end..

I say... this is the most worse novel I ever read!! The FL and her 3-male-consort (a.k.a male leadS) keep on failing to kill the the female villain and her many male pets until the end.

The progress of the plots too slow!

In the end, of course it's an HE.. but... the fl.. she nothing more & less then the female villain.. *lol*, she keep on birthing more 'cubs' for the 3 ml... hahaha!!

pros

  • decent deus ex machina plot armor
  • okay female protagonist
  • eye catching opener chapters
cons

  • reverse harem 'nuff said
  • always mentions past life experiences but she's still pretty f*cking naive and did I mention she had a past life full of torment, violence, betrayal and chaos? yeah she already forgot that and has amnesia now in this current life of hers---because she still makes NOOB mistakes
  • strutting around like she's all that... yet her level is abysmal and needs a MAN to get her out of most jams...i think a sidekick would fit her more than an MC role

I really like the novel's progress. And just like any other novels I've read, I'm after the novels romance. But even if there's less romance in this novel. The story is pretty decent. Given the fact that I just gritted my teeth and read through the blood boiling schemes, plots and hipocrisy, I still rather find this novel a good one, not until I've reached ch345 Being a hopeless romantic reader I'm not into poligamy. But I realized MC's feelings towards supporting ML is rather questionable. I can't... more>> bring myself to read the rest of the story and skip through the end, voila! She got entangled with three men. Just like how she judged Yu Wanrou on how the men around YW have a tacit understanding to not mind sharing one woman. She ended up just like her. Her men have come to a compromise and shared her among themselves. A hypocrite I may say. Really, this novel is so disappointing. <<less

The story starts off decently enough and was quite different from the majority rebirth novels. I appreciate the chapter lengths as it's roughly 3x longer than novels of the same genre. Now, I've never liked harem/reverse harem novels but the hypocrisy of it all really baffles me. She criticizes Yu Wanrou for her entanglement with multiple men yet she herself ends up the same. The ending seemed VERY rushed. They glossed over many things like her parents and master. It just felt like the author tried to appeal to those... more>> second and third ML fans.

In short, I enjoyed the first half of the novel but disappointed by the second. Worth a read if you need something to pass the time with. <<less

The novel started off like a typical reincarnation novel with VERY unexpected plots twists that you'd love or hate.

It ended in a very uniqie way although I do prefer brother Rong who never failed to love be her and trust her even up to the point of wishing MC's happiness with someone else. I think neither the previous nor the current lifetime could give justice to all his sacrifices. Ot pains my heart to see (in my imagination) him suffer. Brother Ye (which I STRONGLY believed) already betrayed her by... more>> falling for another woman in the previous life.

Overall, it was a great work of art filled with love and adventure. <<less

The story actually started off good. A bit unrealistic but passable. Like if you had to witness your mother being forced up on, your parents killed, your sect brothers killed and the death of your own child etc. It's unrealistic for her to show such childishness. It's only slightly passable since she's just trying to find the warmth she lost.

The story goes on to talk about how she defeats her opponents. It's great she uses her previous life experience to her advantage. But like is she s*upid or something. She... more>> doesn't cut off he roots of enemies. If it was modern day we can't kill people but send them to jail. But this is ancient time during cultivation. If someone came to you trying to kill you, don't injure them and let them go. She does it so many times. Like you've experience the cruel reality of life, learn to survive. These people look for trouble, she injures or hurts their pride, they escape, they bring back reinforcement later on. Like multiple times, if you killed them like what they tried to do to you. You wouldn't have this problem. Doesn't even lock them up or give chase. Like those people are arrogant, obnoxious and won't let you go. As you enter in the 300s her dealings with energies just get boring and s*upid.

The chapters on romance left me shocked. Personally I believe in only having one significant others. Like sure you might like multiple people along the way but eventually you settle down with 1 person. The author goes on about how her enemy Yu Wanrou, is sleeping with multiple guys so that they would do whatever she wants at the same time being proud so many guys like her. While the MC isn't like that, but she isn't not like that. She ends up with 3 different guys (not in a break up one get together with next). Sorta like Empress with no virtue (at the beginning before he dismisses everyone except her). Like I'm not being sexist being okay with the guy in one story having multiple wife's and being not okay with a girl in another story having multiple husbands. My problem is (for reference) Empress with no virtue the emperor eventually figures out that he likes only the empress and dismisses everyone. How did her relationship end up? She had a 1st child with her senior brother, 2nd with first prince, 3rd with senior brother and 4th with the guy that turns into her pet. The senior brother and first prince were due to the fact they both saved her, she can't decide who she likes so she keeps both. The third guy? The author just goes she ended up accepting him, there was no two sided build up of their romance. That third guy was on verge of giving her up but then last chapter the author is just like she ended up accepting him, like excuse me she was treating him like a pet last chapter. The only true 2 side romance is with her senior brother, with like slight 2 side with first prince. But to go a whole circle of MC ridiculing her enemy for sleeping with multiple guy to get what she wants. The MC is also sleeping with multiple guys, while she doesn't plan it on purpose she gets what she wants from them. Also the BLOODY ending. What the heck is she wants a daughter after 4 sons so the 3 guys plan to work hard. Leading her to have an eventful night. <<less

I have mixed feelings about this story. It’s well written with a clear structure of the world. Many characters are given a complex backstory that it feels like they could be the main character. Our lead is a strange one. Sometimes she’s cunning and ruthless as one would expect from the story’s premise. However, similar to Reincarnated as a Villainess: All Roads Lead to Death, she becomes remarkably s*upid. Don’t get me wrong, I like her, it’s just that it feels like her intelligence undergoes a large contrast to how... more>> it was during other moments of the story. It is bothersome how she was a top tier expert in her past life only to end up someone who is crying over small matters in this life, or how she’s treated as a weak child throughout the story. Lastly, the pacing could certainly use a lot of fixing. She spends almost 200 chapters in the most elementary realm and then it skips ahead to her in the nascent realm, skipping two entire great realms. <<less

Ugh, I wish I could take back my rating. As of this point, it might just reach a 3. No way is it a 4.

A tinge of Mary Sue, but MC still has a unique personality. In front of the love interests, she developes this fun, quirky, personality. I have no clue why, the author says this personality is reserved for those she's super close with, but the MLs get it from the get-go. Outside of that, she has this mature, sharp personality. Completely different and incompatible with the other.... more>> It's not as if she's hiding behind a mask either... It's a bit confusing how the author weaves this.

The author in general doesn't have a good memory. For example, she used whatever weapon was convince the, laying around, or available in the beginning, with no deep understanding of any weapon. Then later, she apparently was super proficient in the whip, her weapon of choice. The plot has armor, sometimes things are "very convenient", but it doesn't take away from the novel much. Only if you're paying attention. There are also some discrepancies surrounding her age.

Also, I found it annoying how there's supposed to be huge differences in "levels" (?) in cultivation, but the protagonists seem to overcome that pretty easily and unrealistically. It's one thing if it's beginner Foundation vs. adv. Foundation, but it's like
Spoiler

full throttle Gold Core Fire Fox (which is naturally extremely good at combat) fire ball at it's most hated person can be dispersed by MC lv. 6 Qi Cultivation because she has fire roots...

... like wut? There's a poor understanding of ancient Chinese cultivation in general, especially regarding demonic energy and cultivation if that matters to you. It's not obvious or anything, though, it's just like, "Ok, I guess we're going with that."

Another annoying thing is that there aren't any gray areas. It's really impressive how this plays in. I'm not really sure how much I can explain here, but most of the "great giants" suck, MC is always right, good people are absolutely terrible at lying except MC and MLs... so on. The author takes every opportunity to raise up the good people and throw dirt on the bad, often doing comparisons to kill two birds with one stone. Like, move on. We get the jist.

Don't read this for the "vengeance". It's just nonexistent. She's like,

"You just tried to kill me and my martial siblings just now so obviously, so although I won't get you disqualified, I'll make you suffer from severe weather for an hour and then let you go."

[collapse]
I'm not exaggerating. That actually happens. It's, "You take an eye; I'll think about giving you a spanking." Although that's too s*xual for this story.

The MC is a sheep when it comes to this. I finally got a genuine kiss a few chapters ago, although it was made explicitly clear there was nothing s*xual about it. I expected a bit more for later in the story since the scene where
Spoiler

a drugged MC was kissing the main ML with ML2 witnessing. This is a 1v1 story btw

[collapse]
She randomly becomes pretty useless in front of ML too when the author wants MC to be the damsel in distress an ML needs to save. ML1 and ML2 also overlap a lot. Random note, but the MC was super annoying and senseless in her first try at life.

My final verdict is a 3 because it took me so long for me to wake up and realize how much I don't like it, and because the story is easy to read. The world building is pretty alright. The explanations come when they are relevant, and aren't too excessive. <<less
