Read this a while back and skimmed through up to c35. Pretty ok and I like how the story is not over dramatised, the FL is likeable to me, and personally for the most part I am glad the ML is not (yet) showing signs of the typical overbearing tyrannical CEO. Yes, I do get that it's a turn on for some but after reading novel in the tens about similar tropes I'm glad there is a ML who is not as extreme as many of the novels. He... more>> may be one of the rare few ML I actually like! Very refreshing and I may just continue the novel because of that. <<less

This novel is the first one that I've read that really explains the horrors of the 'Cold Palace'. I've always thought that the villainous step-mother empresses were just spoiled and throwing a tantrum when they were sent there. Welp, now I know better.

im too early in the novel to officially rate it, im not even going to.

When I first read the story summary it gave me the impression that the MC transmigrates into a poor-ish family and uses social media to get famous off-handy. And indeed it is! but.... every time I read about how desperate she is for the money and what she does for the extra fame is a bit unpleasant to read given how she is constantly said to have this noble bearing and all.

personally there is way to... more>> much drama for me to chew and swallow easily, its like there's trouble at every corner, or for every step she takes. Its not that those troubles should not exist but that they should be given some time before happening!

i actually also find it so s*upid for her to continue taking those college courses, Who is she pretending for? Her mother had already known so why is she struggling so hard to pretend to be someone shes not? She is clear that the original body had come to the uni for a boy-not because she loved it so much, because if she was worried about orig. feelings she wouldn't have thrown out what the original had found so precious-that shoes collection she had kept which the MC tried to sell off.

As someone else mentioned the original ending up in the MC's previous body and taking over as queen is just terrible. I mean she was originally a bad person and had a horrid-ish character but still does not suffer as much as the MC? Its pretty ironic to me. I mean the MC has all memories of the prev. body owner and so she also has memories of the MC-meaning calligraphy, playing the guqin mannerisms etc... whereas our MC hardly receives any benefits from her, her piano skills you say? nothing worth mentioning!

im not saying I hate the story, these flaws are ignored as you read the novel but once you stop to analyze they can be picked easily. But again the multiple character flaws seem to be there so that the character growth can be highlighted more.

Leaving the plot aside, id like to talk a bit about the MC and ML's relationship. Honestly in my view the guy doesn't seem to like her as deeply as it was implied, nor does he have particular care for her. Im not saying he is a horrible person but he isn't the most concerned bf either.

their relationship started pretty early (considering how long this novel is) but they both liked each other so it was alright and cute. After the ML found out about MC's dad being in prison he never even felt like he should help the MC who has obviously been struggling for so long due to this, and yet another man is the one who helped. Yes, drunk driving is horrible but for him to just judge the father based on this wasn't very good not to mention how he cruelly said that he should stay in a few more years to not affect MC yet doesn't realize the longer he stays the more she shall suffer. Basically he's never there when he is supposed to.

after they got into a relationship they haven't even been out on a date-yes maybe it'll happen in the future chapters idk but I just think that the should have at least been on one proper date earlier. Honestly some characters I have to say are very well written and realistic. especially the guy who plays the violin. I really liked his character. in the start I really disliked him and thought of him as a fickle man but he later proved to be otherwise. Another one of my favorites would be the violin players ex-gf, she is what every woman-or at least i-aspire to be character wise.

the plot is not entirely bad its interesting ig but for me who went in with very high expectations I was even more disappointed.

i do think this has potential and there will be many people who would love it, and I would have too had I not have already read multiple such novels with similar rising from the ashes trope. <<less

The plot of this novel is not any rocket science, but the characters are truly likeable and this is the major selling point. The author understands that human thoughts are not usually black and white, that people grow under adversity and that they change, both their minds and their feelings. Different people, different upbringings and inner nature, experiences and agendas, there's no same character thus far. The pacing of their development is also reasonable.

It feels like I'm not doing it enough justice by summarizing it like that, but there's really... more>> nothing else that stands out in my opinion.

However, one thing worth mentioning is that the pacing of this story is extremely slow, specially during scandals. On one hand it allows the author to spin many plates at the same time, which he does and never forgets a plot development. But on the other hand, the character development and personal interactions are so much more interesting than everything else, that it gets straight up annoying that it doesn't get more focus. For instance, I believe the author completely missed the point of writing netizen opinion. It feels good to share your excitement with someone, and watching the netizens talk gives you the feeling of being a lurker in chat, which is close enough to it. But you only talk about it until the next development, there's no other reason to keep searching and this is what it feels like I'm doing at some point: scavenging for a particularly witty or educated comment, which is rarely the case. Talk about a chore I don't feel like doing.

I'll give 5 stars for the enjoyment however, even by skipping like mad I still liked the developments up to now, and the translations are good. <<less

FYI If you're having trouble with the chapters being "locked, " you can go to the translator's site directly and access them from there

A ML that is doting, but also supportive and happy to see the independence of the FL. That is rare enough to instantly set this novel apart. TBH, there are points where the story drags quite a bit - too much time spent on certain events and her focus (making money and being a cyber star) is tossed to the side - but I think if the... more>> chapters weren't so short it wouldn't be noticeable. You do have to ignore the Mary Sue aspects of an ancient girl so easily integrating - and that such a neglected princess would be so well educated...

Spoiler

I really appreciated that it gave closure to the original owner of the body, and that the parents (and probably her friend) found out the truth. I don't know how a modern girl survived and preferred the ancient time, but if she's happy... to each their own. Sadly the father seems to be on an irredeemable path, and he's the reason they had to work so hard. I understand being upset about his daughter being gone, but he's also being a jerk to his wife and not contributing at all.

[collapse]

I like that there are some strong female friendships and it often avoids the stereotypical green tea route that so many novel women take. The side characters are all interesting as well, and are developing their own relationships. Given the length of the novel I'm not sure how long this will stay good, but it's kept my interest so far.

*Edited to add*

I read the MTL up to 1250, which should be the end (although maybe there are bonus chapters?). It was painful to read, with names being translated inconsistently, not to mention numbers (something like $700m is suddenly $7m a paragraph later). So it's difficult to tell if the writing or the translation is the issue. The ending was extremely weak and rushed, and left a lot of threads dangling with no resolution. I think there were too many characters and complicated subplots to do any of them real justice, so it got very tangled and confusing. I was disappointed in a lot of the characters' development, particularly of the men, and some of the relationships went a bit sideways as well. I did like the strong female friendships and very supportive friends - the FL and ML remained loyal and kind throughout. I did have to roll my eyes at some of the depictions of US culture (apparently we hate, and the awkward names (of names for rag doll cats, Susan, Jenny, or Danny are rather unlikely) and the value of things was crazy. Either the translation was off or the author has a very poor concept of finances, because an actress getting paid $500m USD for one movie is... yeah.

It did manage to keep me reading for a few days, but it should have ended somewhere near halfway. <<less

It is slow but feels more adult than a lot other novels that focus on the youth of the characters to make them OP and likable.

I came into this novel after reading all the positive reviews. I expected to be met with good plot that could keep me reading, and a cast of characters that were likeable. You know what I was met with instead? Different pointless plots appearing randomly, a “perfect” female lead who felt like she had no personality, and a dead romance. The female lead was a Mary Sue little perfect girl who was good at piano, amazing at Guqin, good at bargaining, and managed to snatch the most “perfect” man who... more>> was quality as good as her.... blah blah blah. I didn’t care, the things that I’ve mentioned were said so much throughout the novel to the point I almost fell asleep. I was gonna mention how dark skin was viewed negatively as ugliness but I’ll remove that since they probably have different beauty standards. The male lead... where do I even start. He just didn’t feel important at all. I couldn’t see why the female lead fell in love with him even when it was mentioned. There was no chemistry between them. It felt like he was added as an afterthought in order to enhance the female leads greatness. Let’s examine him, handsome? Check, Powerful? Check... that’s all I remember from him and what I can mention without spoiling anything. As for the plot, I honestly hated it. The only part I liked wa s the live-streaming, it was interesting seeing her interact with her fans while being able to see the behind the scenes. After that, the plot went downhill.

In the end, I’m criticizing the story, not the translator. This story was translated in a clean and easily readable way. So thank you to the translating team. I wish them well and hope they’ll be able to translate a better story than this. I truly enjoyed how it was translated. <<less

My impression as of chapter 156 was really good. I really like the storytelling style and I love how the characters are fleshed out.

My favorite is the interaction between MC and ML, they are so sweet together (ʃƪ^3^)
Of course the MC has her MC halo, but I think a lot of the interaction happened because the MC's hardworking nature that made people want to help her. I am impressed by how the author incorporates history and music lessons so smoothly in the story, made me learn new stuff. The... more>> translation is also smooth and the sentences flows nicely.

Might be difficult to remember some characters as there are quite a lot, but I was binging the series so it wasn't too much of a problem so far.

I will update more as I read more chapters! <<less

FL was fake Mary Sue. I can accept that she was talented in four arts since she was ancient. All her business ideas and success are due to the people around her. Her acting was mediocre since all her roles was related to her. Romance was tasteless.

ML was a yandere. He was first describe as a kind-hearted vet. Gradually showed his dark side esp when he schemed for FLs father to be put in mental. Etc.

Too many side characters and romance was a bit force in some of them but... more>> they have more character development than MCs.

Villains are brain dead. They just existed to make the protagonists shine.

I read this and I'll proceed for my next.. <<less

Cute story, strong translations. Great job. My only dislike is that the MC comes across as too perfect, fame too easily attained and it makes the internet portions drag. Otherwise a sweet, easy read when you need some fluff.

It's alright, it's very much one of those potato chip novels you read when bored or just want to pass time. It's not very deep, just your typical "transmigration and now watch MC succeed in her new life" ordeal. MC's your typical pure good girl, it's really nothing outstanding however it really isn't a bad story for what it is. For example, when this one guy's girlfriend found out about the guy getting closer to MC, she didn't antagonize MC in this long and drama affair but instead side stepped... more>> the problem beautifully by realizing that the problem lies with the guy, not MC, and breaks up with him. That said, the beginning is a bit too smooth honestly. MC's rise to small but devoted fan base is quite fast, along with her quite literally stumbling upon ML and catching his attention immediately. She catches several big breaks quite fast, and while she does run into trouble at times; it's been quite minor so far. While the drama does ramp up later on, the first 100 chapters can be a bit of a snooze fest depending on the person.

Overall the translations are quite nice, the story isn't very original but still a decent read. While this might not be some body-twisting break out hit, it's a good story to read while passing time. <<less

Currently I have MTL-ed the story to the 100th chapter. The plot of this novel is that Liu Man transmigrates into the future 2000+ years, and with her skills/talents she developed as the past Cold Palace's princess embarks on the road to making money/becoming a super star.

Things I've liked/Seen other people liked:

-Liu Man. As someone who was essentially a forgotten princess it's nice to see Liu Man enter this world and enjoy life like she was never allowed to in the past. There's some interesting bits about practices of the... more>> Han Dynasty and values that she applies to the modern era. However she isn't too disillusioned by this time due to sharing memories with the o.g. Liu Man. The o.g. Liu Man
Spoiler

actually transmigrates into Liu Man's old bidy and becomes the empress. That's what she explained to her parents in a dream.. the mother being accepting after a while although the Dad on the other hand is a a**hole who kept referring to Liu Man as a fake...:/

[collapse]

-The characters feel quite real. They are all people with their own motivations and different projections in life. Some people that you may end up disliking at first, can grow in the future.

-Live-Streaming/Other talents Liu Man has. These aspects are quite enjoyable and I like that she has such a broad range of talents but isn't too OP. Take for instance that although she may be very talented in folktale instruments, she's not an automatic master at the piano.

Things I'm not a huge fan of (personally) :

-Despite me saying that I like the realistic characters.... it can get a bit annoying for the "villains."

Examples:

Spoiler

-In recent arc, MC stars in a movie and the rival of the 2nd ML (well at least that's what he is at the moment) gropes the MC bc he saw a bit of her underwear outline and as the author described "was thinking with manly physical instinct" (tf is that >: () but the only punishment he gets is rumors across the crew that varnish his reputation a bit. :/

-MC gets targetted repeatedly bc of doing things in association with others or jealously.

[collapse]

I had to skip a bit of sections sometimes since I got so annoyed.

Right now I'm not sure if I'll continue reading since it does have a whopping 1250 chapters. I'm sure it'll be a fun ride with her path to stardom but my interest for completing this is not that high atm.

Its a 4/5 star for me. If the pros appeal to you and you're not as easily annoyed as I am lol you'll surely have fun. <<less

I really enjoyed reading this, I love the characters especially the ML. The antagonists were not brainless, and there are reasons why they opposed the leads. It was realistically portrayed by the author.

The only thing that made me stopped reading this is because there are too many problems coming one after another. Like please, let the MC and ML enjoy some peaceful time. They were always so busy doing their own thing and then a problem will arise. It's repetitive and I'm tired reading it. I don't think I can... more>> finish this anymore.

P.S. The focus of this novel is MC getting rich and ML doing business and such. There's too little lovey dovey moments of them and other couples so it should be a romantic subplot, not romance genre. <<less

I tried moving forward but it's really boring (well, at least for me). Slow paced is really not my style as it seems. The romance is slightly fast, but there are a lot of fillers and mundane things. Therefore, although there's quite a lot of things I approved and appreciate, I can't really continue anymore. But hey, I like that the netizens are not brainless. That's the biggest check. The next is that the supporting characters are not just background characters. They have their own stories and character design. But... more>> sometimes, I feel like it's too much. I prefer that the ML and FL have more scenes.

Anyway, the MTL is surprisingly good so it's really a pity that I find it boring because I'm here for some sugar🥹. I planned to finish it but I saw that I still have to endure reading 500 or so chapters and I really can't do it. Still, I think it's a good story, it's not just my cup of tea. <<less

I've been looking for this novel in every website I could get my paws to... and when I finally found this, I very much expected to read tons of updated chapters over the pass year that I've missed and looking for this!

very disappointed to see just 2 or 3 chapter have been updated

(╯︵╰,)

... more>> this is a wonderful novel too!

I still love this though I would re-read this anytime! (♥´∀`) /

I guess I'll have to continue searching for the other one I've lost (o´Д`) =з

(͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ᵇᵗʷ anyone here know a novel that had both the FL and ML reborn in their younger year (1917s or so) ?

and they are already in love
Spoiler

in their current time just about to get married but some psycho b*tch ruined it for them.

[collapse]

The FL has a storage system with lots of food and stuff in it form the modern era, while the ML was/is a businessman (?) or was it a military?.... it's been a long time since I've read this novel and I would very much (desperately) love to read it again!

And if you knew the name of this novel and where I can find it please reply to me!😫🙏🙏💓 <<less

I love it. The female MC is not the typical Mary Sue and fights head on the troubles on her way. Some parts are very fictional but some parts are also realistic and depicts the current society. I love how it showed how unfair the society is with those with lesser power, and should never underestimate the power of internet because it could give those weaker a chance to fight.

Thank you also for the translators for working hard! I love the translations and some additional points.

Every character in this book is beautifully fleshed out. The MC and ML have one of the best relationships I’ve read of so far (aka non-toxic). The ML isn’t an alpha character but their relationship dynamic is the most sweetest ever. Highly recommended
