I am a holy knight. To be precise, I am the Church of the God of Light’s Sun Knight…in training.

The Church of the God of Light worships and serves the God of Light, and theirs is one of the three largest religions on this continent.

As the whole continent knows, the Church of the God of Light has the Twelve Holy Knights, and each one has his own unique personality and features.

To be the Sun Knight is to have shining golden hair, sky blue eyes, a compassionate nature, and a brilliant smile.

…even the Sun Knight-in-training is no exception.

The 38th generation of the Twelve Holy Knights have completed their term of office, yet the time for the 39th generation to take over is still far in the indefinite future.

The Judgment Knight is brash and easily angered; the Storm Knight and the Leaf Knight are always fighting nonstop, day and night.

Since childhood, the Sun Knight-in-training has watched the others grow from kids into adolescents.

What must he do in order to become comrades, who will fight through thick and thin for each other, with this group of “younger brothers”?

“Benevolent God of Light, may I ask when I will complete my training that has taken more than ten years?”

The story about the 39th Sun Knight and his troubles as he tries to fix the relationships between the Holy Knights that serve under him. Really funny, but more serious than the prequel.

Read the prequel first before reading this.

This is pretty good. Not a legend as its predecessor, but pretty good and tolerable to me because it has Grisia and the others in it...

One complaint is about Grisia (Surprisingly) and his... ... more>>

wife. CAN YOU F***ING BELIEVE IT?!!! I DON'T ACCEPT THIS BLASPHEMY!!!

The characters are pretty great, but it lacked many things... I don't know, the predecessor is just too amazing at everything and the transition made it feels... Bland.

Let's just say, the new generation's knights were all A-grade characters... Meanwhile the last generation (Grisia and his own band of rowdy unique brothers) were S++ grade characters. Yeah, that's the devastating disparity. But it's entertaining enough... I might be selfish. But I really didn't like how

Grisia actually getting laid and has a freaking daughter in it. This is a F***ing blasphemy and I really want to forget this ever happened and pretended like the sequel never happened.

A continuation from Legend of Sun Knight. This time, the Sun Knight position still belong to Grisia, but the main character shifted to Elaro as the Sun-Knight in training. The previous cast barely appear, but still mentioned often enough. Story wise, it has less comedy in it. It focused more on the relation between Elaro and the other 11 holy knight in training. If you like LSK, it's a must read.

Final rating: 4.5/5 stars

Adair mumbled, "However, if you want to win against Captain, you do lack one certain characteristic, and that's being despicable... cough, cough, and shameless... cough! In this area, you will probably never win against Captain."
Elaro laughed. "It's true that I can't win against my teacher in that area."

Oh how I wish for more books in this series. There can never be enough of the 38th generation of the Twelve knights, and the 39th generation. But there was just something lacking - I wasn't that much... more>> attached to this generation as I was for the previous one. But overall, I still love those who were present in this book.

Thankfully, Yu Wo said that this will be trilogy, but this book can be read as stand alone too. But it felt incomplete because it was not planned to be actual stand alone... Anyway, I loved the switching of the POVs, recalling the past events (see: how to make Adair into a obedient and loyal Sun's Vice Captain by throwing him down the cliff a lot of times) and the new characters were cute and loveable.

► STORY & CHARACTERS:

Even though the 38th generation were absolutely close friends, this generation is more like a family, with Elaro being the eldest one (23) among Hungri, who is 17 and rest that are around 15. Basically Elaro is everyone's big brother, and Ludia is everyone's big sister!

What was interesting and great was that we finally found out what happened to Awaitsun and the rest (more or less) but there is just this fact that Awaitsun and Alice are waaaaaaaay too busy to maintain their own pack of children.

The relationship dynamic between the Storm (Shuis) and Leaf (Valica) knights, between Hungri and Elaro and others, but it mostly focused on these four this time around.

Shuis is in a way insecure, because he feels estranged from his own family and he found a brother in Elaro, who is also a brother figure to Valica who is an orphan (just like Elaro) and therefore there is this unsaid hate between Valica and Shuis.

As the previous generation of Sun and Judgment knight were, Elaro and Hungri keep each other in check, but this time it's the other way around. This time Elaro is the one who needs to keep rein over Hungri, so he doesn't go overboard with putting his feelings that get in the line of his duty.

And finally, the plot happens in "that" period when Grisia and the rest have to go each 6 months. And then something unexpected happens... an undead appears!

Overall, this was a fun volume, and I can't wait for more of it, honestly.

So a bit of a note from what I gathered who is who...
1. Elaro Sun
2. Shuis Storm
3. Hungri Judgment
4. Valica Leaf
5. Snow Cloud
6. Youg Blaze (????)
7. Valkyrs Metal
8. Judge Earth
9. Absenplum Ice
10. Luke Hell
11. Leo Stone (????)
12. Fey Moon

► OVERALL:

I just can't wait for any news about this series additions. Even short stories would do, but I highty recommend this series.

It does have it's flaws, but everything else makes up for it. But if you are looking for exceptional female lead or secondary character... you won't find them in these books. Only those who pass by in the volumes.

But the humor, feels and story are worth it.

EDIT 02/10/2017: Good to know that Yu Wo is working on the second book as she put some snippets from the first chapters of the second book! Can't wait!

It's a cute story less focused on action/magic/knighthood but more slice of life style with different personalities interacting with each other.

Highly recommend reading The Legend of Sun Knight (prequel to this) before this, it's worth it.

Okay, not as good as the original series, but still entertaining. Supposedly the first in a trilogy, but it has been almost a decade since the first volume was released so I'm not optimistic. You can still read this, about 90% of the plot is standalone.

I think what makes this worse, is the fact the 39th generation consists of young to very young teenagers with thier teenager appropriate issues, which is inherently more boring for me than dealing with the adults of the 38th generation. The problems they have are... more>> usually "communication" problems and I find it hard to care.

The best parts of this novel are those that deal with the now 40 year olds of the 38th generation, but that is only about 15% of the book.

Translation is excellent. <<less

A decent standalone sequel, but it pales in comparison to the original novel. The 39th generation isn't as interesting or entertaining as their predecessors but the family dynamic between the young knights is cute.

The sequel is good, not as humorous as the prequel but I won't blame it since Grisia can't be compared and I still love Grisia more, I didn't find it weird he had a daughter with Charlotte but yeah, I was shocked they didn't get married. Grisia is indeed a devil making people think he and his student are brothers without knowing who the older brother actually is (his teacher is 39 and student is 23) I understand Charlotte's anger. This generation feels somewhat normal since not all generations... more>> can be too abnormal, the personalities of the students and teachers were a bit switched, Sun Knight and Judgment Knight in training while Judgement knight and Sun knight in training, but the fact remains the same that, they still need to worry about the Sun knight (no matter the generation) being a bastard.

I still love Grisia, he can't be replaced, I repeat, I STILL LOVE GRISIA HE CAN'T BE REPLACED but our demon king really needs rest

When will the next volumes be released??? It's been so long.....

There seems to be many things that won't be answered without the next volumes. the demon king issue and Hell knight issue, the question about what Roland asked Luke to promise him.....I would love to see more interactions and stories of the 38th generations, the teacher student seems more interesting than student -student but it's fine since this is the 39th he generation not the 38th.....

This is good to read and I would definitely say to give it a try but to read the prequel first to understand what is happening here or some might really mistake it as a thriller or something for it's sub genre and for the most part, it's a lovely read and I recommend it for a nice past time but the sequel is a must read if u do decide to read the legend of the sun knight and then u can decide wether to read this or not...

I don't mean to say I don't like the 39th generation but the interaction was too limited and it felt a little, not so attachable since it only got a few chaos covered up I am waiting here for more actions for a long time and decided to post a review since it's not being updated but I still recommend this and it's prequel they canbe considered one but the prequel was a first person POV while this is a multi person POV that changes.

And I really want to see a wedding ceremony and a well deserved retirement and the money Grisia ended up saving by the end of the 3 volumes.... of this sequel
