The MC entered the body of the An family eldest son, An Ziran, an arrogant 16 years old boy who weighed 78 kg (~171-172 lbs), who only knew how to eat, play and sleep. Seeing his current body, An Ziran decided his first priority was to LOSE WEIGHT!

Three days later after he became An Ziran, An Ziran’s father and his biological mother died, which meant as the eldest son he had to take over the family business.

Beside his legitimate first wife, An Ziran’s father also married 3 others women, who all wanted to take over the An family fortune but only the eldest son could be able to touch it, therefore they have to depend on An Ziran in order to live a comfortable life.

An Ziran’s father also had an older brother who is always planning to steal the An family fortune. The elder brother of An Ziran’s father and the woman he married had powerful connections. In order to save the An family fortune, An Ziran has to find a golden thigh to cling on. The butler told An Ziran that there is an engagement between the An family and an influential family. Therefore he takes his sister to that family house to make a connection.

However, during their journey, An Ziran’s younger sister overheard that the son of that family is UGLY, so as a beautiful and spoiled young lady coming from a rich household, she didn’t want to marry him and decided to run away. Without any other choice, An Ziran had to take his sister’s​ place and marry that man, who told him that he would let him go soon, but lied.

. He has your typical uke physical appearance but he has a manly demeanor when he's working. Pretty hardworking and he knows when to draw the line. He's always trying to make ML's image great to the people.

ML is also OP when it comes to military might. As expected. He supports whatever the uke does and doesn't question him even if the uke does something weird. Loyal and stays true to his words.

However, the romance was practically nonexistent halfway in. You only get a glimpse of it now and then or when they have coitus. The focus was more on business building which got a bit repetitive and palace conflicts.

What I didn't like was how

So far im liking the couple dynamics between the MC and ML. Everything makes sense to me with how the plot develops and the reason behind the incidents in the story. Its still early in the story so theres probably more in store in terms of the side characters and the plot. Im trusting this one coz I really love LMW which is another work of this author (Yin Ya).

Pure poor-to-rich kind of novel! The MC is a transmigrator with a mysterious background. He's pretty OP (has a lot of knowledge about very obscure stuff) and has a solid temperament. He takes the position of the 'stoic' party when it comes to his and the ML's relationship. His own goals aren't very clear, but after transmigration, he starts to protect the An family -- going as far as to go to the Capital to seek a marriage for his sister, only to end up being the bride lolol.

This is... more>> my kind of novel~ I find poor-to-rich novels very interesting, so this was just my cup of tea. In other aspects, the novel was a bit weak, so I ended up giving up on it after running out of the TL (the MTL is readable, at least... 70% readable, maybe? If you're used to reading MTL, it should be easier) But, anyway, readable or not, I wasn't really invested in future development. Mainly because the main characters lack drive. What are their aims??? I honestly don't know lmfao. The MC being stoic is fine, I've liked many stoic MCs. But, usually they have some kind of goal, even if its to be a 'salted fish'. This one is a little eh. The ML is a bit better, but he doesn't do much either -- outside of being amusingly shameless.

SO! All in all, while this is my kind of novel, and I would continue reading it if the TL is finished, I'm not interested enough to suffer through the MTL. For those that are interested in poor-to-rich novels like I am, I suggest giving it a shot~ I don't feel regretful even though I didn't finish the novel, so I don't think it would be a loss to try!

CHARACTERS: 5/10

The characters are likeable but a bit too one-dimensional. As mentioned, they're lacking in motivation -- which prevents them from having any fun developments.

An Zinran (MC)

Stoic!Shou. Has a solemn face most of the time, and is a business genius. A bit of a tsundere, but very practical.

Fu Weitian (ML)

Shameless!Gong! He has facial paralysis too, but he's a lot more vocal than our MC~ I would have liked the novel more if his appearances were more than just 'revolving around the MC'.

ROMANCE: 6.5/10

I quite like the banter~ The dynamics are unique too, so I have nothing to complain about in that regard. But it is admittedly a pretty simple development. The romance is not really the focus, I guess.

SETTING: 9/10

Ancient Chinese setting, and it covers quite a few industries in detail. In this way, the novel is definitely of quality. IDK how much actual research went into writing this novel, but the world felt very real.

PLOT: 7/10

This is mainly a face-slapping novel with a money-grubber main character. Outside of family drama, there's also royal family drama (which I assume will be the focus in the latter arcs~). In any case, the plot is fairly simple, since this is slice of life. I don't think that's bad though. Hence the rating.

RATING: 3.43/5

All in all, its a novel that I think is worth trying if you're interested in the poor-to-rich development and the face-slapping. Otherwise, it's probably best to stay away lol. I think I might come back to read it again in the future, though I'm not sure that the TL will progress much with the update schedule T.T <<less

Personally when it's bad/so lengthy it can hit 3 stars but if you don't take it seriously, it's not infuriating to read, so it's MOSTLY a 4. CN authors disliking TINY scars on face and body and slightly overweight = UGSO is so weird but what can you do? RIP original little lord AZR, a decent squishy mantou.

I like reading about AZR's businesses. He's so good at making money, and it put his 'transmigration' setting to good use. MC and ML are both active characters. From the start, AZR quickly... more>> took over his family, and he's a decent young family head. After marriage, AZR's agency is not undermined, it doesn't feel like he was feminised by his marriage. Businessmen are often looked down on in some dynasties, so I like seeing AZR's shops and ideas helping his husband and FWT helping him to do what he wants.

It's a long novel, and the main conflict is that AZR got married with FWT, of course after that is done you'll get filler plots and messy conflicts.

The villains' are not a genius evil masterminds. Sometimes characters have to bring up AZR's weight. There's a bit of 'women are evil/crazy' element which I don't like, but I think AZR's interaction with his subordinates makes up for it a bit. MC-ML love through the many obstacles remain solid, you may enjoy reading them facing everything together with such faith in each other. <<less

Most of the reviews seem to complain about the one dimensional characters.

Personally, I don't mind, I have read worse.

What I love the most about this story is that the MC, ML are not pushovers.

It's very satisfying to curb stomp your enemy to the ground. Add in helping the community, that's all I need.

It's a great story. The MC is not dense and dumb for a change. Also he's without any special power and so on. But he's smart, capable, with a good heart. It's your day to day normal human transmigreting into ancient times. The ML so far is perfect. Not to over protective or possessive. He's very good to MC. They're so fluffy together.

and is more about how MC does his business with the slow building about their relationship. ML's personality is marvelous, and I love how dotting he is with his wang fei.

The smut appears in a few chapters and its consistent on how they are falling in love.

Gosh, that was a long ride XD. MC somehow transmigrated into a fat wealthy landlord's wayward teenage son who just lost his parents. MC suspect foul play in the original's death, but can't do much for the time being because he needs to take charge of the messy household now that the parents dead, and to lose weight! ML is the respected prince general who just come back from victorious war, but like many similar story, the decadent emperor is wary of such an excellent nephew.

The first half of the... more>> story is about business warfare, the second half is about military warfare. MC is so cool & clever, his brain is his biggest golden finger. ML is strong & majestic, but he's such a rogue to MC, their interactions is so fun. Strangely enough, in the first half of the story MC & ML husbands relation is quite explicit, not too much, but the writing definitely more daring, but the later half is more suggestive and fade to dark. ML still very shameless to MC though LoL. MC past won't be revealed until well into the second half of the story. <<less

I wanna give this one 4.5 star. But the average star is less than that so I gave 5 stars to pump it up.

The only reason to deduct star was that it dragged some places although it was interesting enough to keep reading.

Its author usual style... When you think that the story should end here, something pops up. And it doesn't feel disharmonious at all!

... more>> The best thing is definitely MC. And his chemistry with ML. Such a healthy relationship (wife s*ave lol).

And ofcourse villains. Even though the villains in first half aren't that smart (well they are only women who lives in harem so can't hope for a high iq) the later part the villains were really good. They aren't like born evil type but the protagonist of their own story type.

Lol I really wanted to support the smartest prince (you'll know when you read. I don't wanna spoil)

The MC is not that OP so I enjoyed how he would think his way thru his problems. The couple is very harmonious that's why their chemistry is thrilling to read, especially when Fu Wu Tian was flirting with the MC at the beginning. My only wish is that their steamy scenes be more explicit hahaha.

Perhaps I would enjoy this novel... but for some reason I kept getting bored while waiting for the things to finally start. In the end it dragged on too long and I can't wait any more. Won't rate because I can't tell if it's the novel or I'm just not in a good mood rn.

Overall

I liked it a lot because of all the business moves being made after the initial family and marriage drama got solved. My favourite trope haha. Sooo, I’m waiting for the translations to be done before I dive back in because I’m losing the will to read when reading in MTL lol.

Writing/Translation: 4.5/5

The translation I read is from Vanilla Muse. The translation is quite good. The translator’s focus is on smooth delivery in English. I liked it.

I couldn't understand how the ML suddenly fell in love with MC after a mere curiosity in less than 3 months (less than a month to b exact since they wiped the guns in the bridal chamber).

Probably a little disappointed dueto high rating. The MC is good but I find the villains really brain dead. I guess my likes and opinion don't match other readers and authors. Will drop

I accidentally rated 4 stars but it's actually 3 stars.

I had high hopes for this novel cause the author also wrote TLMW but it's upto the level so I dropped it.

Initially it is good but it gets boring afterwards. The interactions between MC and ML is not too interesting. Although MC is not weak type shou but I really don't like him very much. Smut so no doubt good but it can't satisfy my appetite for a good novel.

I really like this kind of story. The MC is so independent. He is mature and not like other shou on other novel, I think he is smart, know how to do. Most important is he don't weak,.... I mean, he is not the cute-weak-tender-type shou. You will know what I mean when you read this novel.

But if you don't like the story that slow progressing, and not much lovey dovey, I think you will be bored.

It's not bad but MC's weight is often rehashed as a plot point. Uh ok we get it he used to be overweight and worked hard to transform his body, now let's move forward to the other plot lines. More on the mystery of the grandpa and the romance and MC's innovations for the time period please.

I like the story, and I stuck with it till now, but I'm gonna have to drop it. I read it on the officially translated site, but there are aspects of the story which are password protected and even though I tried using different browsers, checking at different times, and I even downloaded a vpn to see if the password would work, but I still couldnt get in, so the feeling of missing out is a bit frustrating!

A very good novel so far.

MC is very smart and actually proves it through actions. He is independant and also very well written, with deep thoughts, and his actions are always in line with his personnality. I also like the fact that his background is not directly revealed at the beginning of the novel, but instead, we get more clues about his story and who he really is as the novel progresses.

ML is also one of the best ML that I've seen so far: he knows the boundaries, gives some... more>> space to the MC (which is rare), is supportive and very caring (but not clingy !), tho he's rutheless to others. He always knows how to help MC and always does it in the best way. Both of them are really interesting characters, worth having an entire novel of their own, even without romance.

To me, they are the perfect example of power couple: they are both smart and they got each other back, helping each other accomplish their goals. They also treat the other as their equal, which is pretty rare in my opinion. Their relationship is absolutely not baseless and doesn't feel forced. On the contrary, the romance is extremely well executed and we can see them developing deeper feelings as the time passed.

I like the fact that the story focuses on how An Ziran (MC) builds his ecnomic empire, with Fu WuTian (ML) by his side. The pace is really good, which makes the story credible, like MC actually has a long road before becoming the richest landlord of the entire Empire, it is not immediate, unlike some other novels where everything is too easy for the OP MC. <<less
