One day one of the twins born between the werewolf mother Hayato and the human father Gamon, Takahito was suddenly abducted by the Gosford family of werewolves from England. The present head of the family, the pack Alpha Arthur was a muscular, ruthless man. His amber eyes gave off a strong radiance like that of a predator hunting for his prey. Arthur informed Takahito that though he was a man his body was capable of conception. And thus: “You will conceive, and give birth to my child,” he ferociously pronounced as such and forcibly embraced Takahito…

I've been reading Chinese Danmei and Korean Novels all this time along, but now I decided to try Japanese (actually Im interested in Finder novel, unfortunately I couldn't get hold of it...) This is my first Japanese bl novel and so, my first thought is, I guess it's not gonna be as 'aesthetic' as Chinese with all the Chengyu..., They're hard to understand but interesting at the same time. I've only read up to prologue 2 and the story of course has not make any notable progress, yet. I think... more>> this is an interesting novel, really, I hope this novel can make me stay longer here \ (^ 3 ^) / <<less

I hadn’t expected much due to the disappointing patterns some Japanese translated novels have been given.

I mean I don’t mind a unique writing style but I need the book to be free of errors (the obvious) grammatical wise. It would have been great if translators went back in their work and edit or someone steps up as a samaritan to help with that area if the translator is bogged down with life and trying to juggle.

In my opinion the translator did a clean job even if she or he translated... more>> some sentences incorrectly to English I was able to immerse myself deeply in the story and it had me thinking of it and anticipating the next chapters.

The story itself was great as far as creativity I believe it is the same as everybody's.

The morals in the story has been nullified to the point where the reader may question the sanity of the author but still find it acceptable to explore without stopping in a grimace. (It might just only be me) <<less

I don't write a lot of reviews, but I have to give my thanks to HimikoChou for picking this up and providing a wonderful translation. I'm so excited to know that the second book is going to be translated too! I'll be patiently waiting for updates and I encourage others to give this a chance.

From the summary, I expected something a lot more campy and harlequin... surprisingly, I ended up getting invested in a story about werewolves in a struggle to preserve their race and live well among humans.

The tags... more>> shout blatant content warning, and the author spares no effort in describing those related scenes to be as unsettling, uncomfortable, and dreadful as they're supposed to be.

I appreciate that the author doesn't shamelessly romanticize the subject matter, instead treating it seriously. By drawing you into the MC's psyche, the author does a good job establishing the gravity and turmoil of his circumstances in a way that feels very vivid and tangible. The MC is introspective and emotionally complex; I loved watching him mature throughout the 7 chapters as he found opportunities at every turn to discover and better understand himself, his situation, and his captor.

Contrary to the cheap impression that the summary might give people, the story's written quite well and, judging by its trajectory, the second book will likely move forward and away from the tag warning (hopefully). <<less

I understand why the r*pe tag is there, and it's awful.

Normally, from novels with this tag, if it's a HE, I expect recovery from emotional trauma, acceptance, and if the rapist somehow becomes the lover, some level of regret.

As far as I can tell, there's none of that. On top of it, the Stockholm Syndrome is reinforced by a shitty thing called 'bondmates' - aka a 'destined lover' of sorts.

Yeah, no thanks. I can accept destined lovers, but only if both parties actually act like they should in a... more>> relationship.

Tbh, I read this to get off, but the smut scenes are all like 'It was so awful, he didn't want this, the pain was overwhelming', like FFS WHO WANTS TO READ THIS???

Short answer, not me, and I encourage everyone to stay away if you don't like it either.

Ps. I don't usually give novels 1 star, but this novel is bad and doesn't have anything good going for it either. Thus, 1 star. Though if I could, I'd give 0. <<less

Trigger warning: r*pe, Kidnapping, Abuse

This is the first Japanese Yaoi novel I read. And as a Fujoshi who read a considerable number of manga with this trope, I can say that this novel is not THAT bad plotwise.

I don't tend to shy away from stories like these but I understand that some people may have things to complain about. Like how the MC fell in love with ML who abused him. In my humble opinion, unlike other mangas I read, this one has more sense to it.
Spoiler

I mean, if they're "bondmates" (I think they are) then I can't really blame the MC for falling because as far as I know, this can't be controlled and the MC might die or get weakened when they split.

[collapse]

Overall, although some parts my eyebrows nearly met and I felt indignant, I won't drop this and still proceed to reading the sequel.

Thanks to the translators for excellent work.

Note: This is not for weak hearted fujoshis. This is yaoi smut so expect heavy themes like abduction and r*pe.

Anyways, it isn't really that bad as it sounded. I was thinking... this pair could have started peacefully if only there is no complicated circumstance in between them, like the uncle pair since they were, after all soul mates. Unfortunately, the clan conflict made them not realize things. I could understand where the couple came from, I just think it's a shame they started out bad. Nevertheless, as a yaoi the... more>> details are super hot and yummy. <<less

This is a horrifying melting pot of grooming, kidnapping, r*pe, stockholm syndrome, threats and violence.

MC is a 17 years old teenager who's one day kidnapped by a british wolf mafia pack and is continuously r*ped by a 37 years old man, who's old enough to be his father in public's eye, until he somehow gets pregnant.

MC is also threatened with the death of his family if he does try to escape.

r*pe here is not something 'cute' like the usual forceful s*x in BL genre. It's r*pe, plain and simple. In... more>> a very literal sense of the word. MC is coerced into s*xual acts and he hates every second of it. He's afraid, pained and very very unwilling, which make the r*pe scenes that are probably supposed to be somehow sexy even more horrifying to read.

Those s*xual scenes themselves are very dry, stale and boring, but I suppose it does fulfill the criteria of whatever r*pe fetishist would give this story full stars.

As for the violence, the guy who's supposed to be the love interest is pretty subtly violent. At some point he picks up the MC, who's hiding because he doesn't want to be r*ped again and made to carry his rapist's baby, by his collar and ends up choking him out.

The way the author tries to gloss over everything I've mentioned above is via forming a spiritual connection beween MC and ML as bondmates, which is definitely unsatisfying when you actually read the stress and abuse MC is subjected to.

In conclusion, this is a terrible r*pe fantasy and how it doesn't end with MC saved and getting therapy with his rapist ending dead is beyond me. <<less

Even though the relationship starts off in the wrong manner but it gradually improves.
Warning: It does have abduction, dub-con, and r*pe.

But the relationship development (respect, faith, and understanding aspects) is visible. Well written.

I was initially worried about character development and stuff since it's merely a 7 chapter story but luckily were getting a second part! Mainly from the perspective of the MC, I did enjoy reading this novel and it would be interesting to see how MC and ML's relationship would develop in the second book.

I do hope however, that the second book will somewhat give us an insight to the MLs thoughts as well.

Thank you translator translating this story!

First. I'm giving a warning to all those who stumble upon this novel. This novel has kidnapping, r*pe, and abuse in this novel. This is not for soft-hearted and new fujoshi. I advise you to click off.

Now, regarding this plot of the novel, personally, this is not my first time reading this type of novel, and if I'm going to compare this on the list of novels that I read with almost the same tag like this one, I can say that this novel is not that bad plotwise.

I'm sure... more>> a lot of readers are already frowning because of the tags and how it happened in the novel but trust me, I read worse. To the point that it didn't make sense as to why the MC fell in love with the ML, and how the author just used the Stockholm syndrome as a convenience to make both characters, especially the victim love the ML. And how, even the gong has no redeeming or character development going on, at least in this novel it subtly showed although it wasn't obvious because it's the part where he is still slowly 'realizing it'.

I mean, seriously at least this novel has a proper plot. There is a reason why it happen. Why the ML has to do it this way. Although I'm not saying it is good, at least there is a cause for every effect.

And this time, I accepted the reason why the MC fell in love with ML. I mean, there is what they call bond and if you've been reading this type of novel as well, then you understand why it will happen. At least the author did not force it so much, s/he utilized it well.

All in all, I admit there are some scenes that made me raise my brows and simply just frowning but because I was waiting for the plot to develop and see the changes in both characters, especially the ML, so I still continued.

Personally, it wasn't the worse I've read. I'm not gonna say I enjoyed it but plotwise at least I'll say the author created this novel with proper attention. <<less

Excellent translation. Story as expected. Taka and Arthur must be bondmates, I assume. That’s the only explanation for the instant like Taka has towards someone who has r*ped him. The next book should clarify this. So 5 stars for now.

While this story is just average, it does have an appeal to it, since I've read the series more than once. Tr*shy romances are their own kind of joy when you just want something short to unwind.

Is a good story, full of interesting characters that do feel real and deep. I want to read the rest to fully understand the story since this is the first one that I read and I feel like I’m missing some parts. Specially backstories.

With that aside, anyone how’s used to typical yaoi troupes will feel right at home with this novels. They’re full of lore that’s different from typical omegaverse, and more closely to the old werewolf omegaverse that started it all. I like it very much.

The story is solid,... more>> characters feel interesting (MC does feel like a child which made me a little iffy about the r*pe stuff) and you do get to understand that no ones doing all of these because they want to, they have to.
The most intense scenes do feel painful, but they do progress to be something more consensual. Again, or your uncomfortable is not the story for you.
The translation feels solid, and is the type of story to cleanse you pallet from more complicated plot driven stories to something simpler but enjoyable. <<less

The narrations and descriptions of flashbacks and unnecessary details are too boring and too dull to read but there are parts that really make up for those. Just hold on, you'll like it along the way, especially the papapa moments. ;)

Compared to danmei, good japanese BL novels are rare. This one was well translated and the story has a good premise, although it was not as intricate and epic as danmei.

Warning: take the r*pe tag seriously. Little amoral me has often defended 'dubcon' in danmei/yaoi and opposed 'r*pe label' in some novels. Not here. Because here, the r*pe is real, as the victim himself described afterwards. He suffered real psychological trauma after. So if you are against reading about r*pe, plz be mature and keep away, because it is useless... more>> complaining about it afterwards.

Warning: translator frequently added her personal opinions/reactions in between paragraphs which interrupted my reading enjoyment. It is exactly like having an annoying pest live-commenting when you are trying to concentrate on watching a movie.

I really loved Taka's description of his daily life, his thoughts on his double identity, his feelings about his friends and family. So the novel started out well. But then, plot incoherences started showing up. For example, I doubt that kidnapping 'Eve' is the only solution they could think of... come on!... how about seducing 'Eve' first then kidnap if seducing fails lol... So, seme really disappoints as a man for thinking that r*pe and kidnapping are his only solution.

Also, Wolfgang suddenly wanting to be alpha did not make any sense in context. Maybe Wolfgang's little backstory would have helped. As is, it just felt like some plot device to just have the main couple come closer together. After the r*pe scene, I was interested to know just how the author was going to convince readers about a possible love between the main couple. Being a veteran yaoi reader, I kinda expected those plot shortcuts but still, I was hoping for more (spoiled by danmei no doubt ?). Looking forward to the 2nd book for a more convincing argument about their love. <<less

I can't do it. I don't like the Stockholm Syndrome and yes that's absolutely what this is. It kind of just jumps from MC's hate towards ML to "I can't stop thinking about him, he's so gentle, he's worried about me" etc. I think the most important part in this kind of trope is explaining why the relationship changes. The author failed in doing this in my opinion.

MC is weak and just thinks about escaping but doesn't really do anything for quite a while. He's also not the smartest.

It's quite... more>> frustrating to me I wish there was one of these toxic kidnapping stories but the victim actually escapes, gets their revenge and had a happy ending with someone else. And the Perpetrator actually gets punished. (Write me if there is something like this in BL pls)

If you can turn off your brain to the characters/plot and just want forced smut then this is for you. The smut was pretty good even though I had to jump ship at last. <<less

FYI I also read the sequel, 'Fate of the pair' - it's basically just the continuation of the story. Don't know why the author or translator decided to split it into 2 volumes.

Read this because the premise sounded somewhat interesting, finished only because it was a) a short read, b) easy to skip a lot without losing sense of the plot, c) plenty of smut.

Also I was bored.

I'm not one to get into a moral panic because of the content of the story, the summary and tags says pretty much... more>> what kind of story this is going to be - but for people who don't pay attention, this contains:

Rape, abduction, trying to force pregnancy, stockholm-syndrome mixed with 'love because genetic matching', werewolf s*x (with each other though, and only briefly), the MC is a minor (16-17) and the ML is 20 years older than him.

The ML is pretty much a bad guy, he has his reasons, but I didn't find them convincing - wanting to preserve your family gene pool is not a good enough reason to abduct a teenager and raping him in the attempt to make him carry your child.

Also lack of logic here - why are all the werewolves gay and unable to conceive female werewolves? Not that I mind, it's not a story one should read for its logic, but still, it makes little sense.

This story is best read by turning your brain and critical sense completely off. The writing is not good, but the smut is okay. The MC's inner thoughts get kind of annoying after a while. The ML is a jerk, but the author tries to redeem him and it worked okay, because I could turn my brain off while reading.

I don't know what the deal was with the childhood friend who was just kind of there and had zero impact on the story. I suspect there's a sequel where the MC's brother falls in love with him or something, otherwise why was he included in the story?

I don't get why people upvote this story yet downvote other stories with noncon that has better writing and better smut. Another thing that lacks logic.

Anyway, read it for the smut if you're bored, that's the only reason to read this. Ending is alright. Not for the faint at heart, but you should know this already from reading the summary.

The smut can't be accessed on the translator's website (password doesn't work), but you can find it if you look around on the internet. <<less
