MC is the typical naive character everyone loves and relies on the ML to survive. He has to convince himself he’s straight and others to be straight for some reason? Seems lowkey homophobic to me idk, it’s basically shit. The survival game itself is pretty okay tho.

All I can say is I read this in one sitting, I've alway loved the Yandere troupe and this is obviously no exception! I found the MC is cute, a bit weak at the beginning, but sensible, he knows his weakness well, and adapts his own strength, and is firm in his beliefs. The ml's diary entries are a fun way to peek into what he's thinking and how he feels at the end of each chapter.
Now for the individual worlds, when reading stories with multiple worlds I like to make not of each world, and what chapters they start and finish. There are spoilers in these so be warned

so if thats iffy for you watch out.

Im a big fan of our xiao Chu's reaction to the fragments, nothing is more realistic than being thoroughly creeped out and disgusted by an obsessive fanatic mu*derer. Of course this changes throughout the series but even that progression is rather realistic, if not a bit fast.

Speaking of fast progression, I was somewhat dissapointed by how short this was, considering I was fully expecting our xiao Chu to collect all 187 and was buckling up for a long and painfully slow romance. It feels as if the author possibly ran out of instances or didnt plan far out enough and decided to take the fast track, but it was done fairly well anyway so im not too sad, apart from being a bit dissapointed.

Overall, I enjoyed all of the characters and instances, quite a few made me cry and wish the CP was different (despite them all being our ML lol).

4/5 could of been improved upon, but was still a fun and worthwhile read. <<less

I really enjoyed reading this. The games were interesting, and the couple had great chemistry.

I don't like the horror genre, but I did like this. It had suspense but wasn't too scary.

In short: This may not be a masterpiece, but it's a good read without being too complicated but also not boring.

  • I absolutely love this book, no joke. I literally already read this like 3 times and yet, I still don't managed to get tired of it!

    the protagonist is your normal, bendable straight man that thinks the male lead hates PDA and Homos*xual stuffs! But actually, Bai Yi is obssessed and head over heels in love with Cheng Zhi Chu! His other selves were also madly yandere for him like the main body.

The story is alright. The MC was not the smartest though, he's quite dense and honestly an average person. The ML was the type that can constantly switch between yandere and selling meng haha. The plot was decent, not much interaction between other players though

I really loved the novel! I was expecting certain arcs/instances to drag on and take too long but I found myself loving each and every one of them :D not too short, not too long (but after binge reading it in 3 days I wished it was longer ahhh)

This is Truly Amazing Wonderful Beautiful Epic Win Novel!!!

I had expected this to be Wonderful. And thank god it is! But I didn't expect this to be THIS AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL!!!

MC is not Ordinary nor Extraordinary. But he's Cute and Lovably Great! His Determination and Devotion is Great!

But what really made this novel so Funny and Epic Win is the ML! ML is just Sooo Great! He's truly Epic Gold Win!!! He might be Yandere, but he's also Funny AF!!! His Cousin is Also Gold character! We all Love them Sooo... more>> Much!!!

ML is Yandere, but never cross the line with MC. While ML's other personalities, their Yandereness is what Horror Gore Character would do. Nothing really Cross the line that we haven't expect. No special warning necessary! 👌👍 Never doubt this novel's Comedy! It might be Horror Gore, but the Humor is also Solid and their combination doesn't clash with each other. This novel is that Amazingly Well Written! And the Translation is So Good!

If you're worried it might be similar to Game Loading or Wave of Exes, don't be. Their similarity is only about Splitting Souls and the Harem-like situation. This novel has it own Epic Gold Charm! Unique Epic Gold and I love it waaay toooo much!!!

I Love this Novel with all part of My Body, Heart, and Soul, with all My Eternal Love for the Eternity and Beyond!!! <<less

Although for me the ML's obsession with the MC was kind of unrealistic for me, it really was a fun, comedic read despite it being horror/thriller, I like the thought that despite ML's soul breaking into pieces, it still recognized MC and his love for him..i think that if there really was some drama and the plot would make it so that the ML doesnt immediately recognize MC it would add more depth, but this is a light read so I guess there was no need ^_^ recommend!

Rating: 3.5/5- So this is kind of a good story and there's many things to like about it, but there's also a lot to dislike.

Excellent translation- I love KK Translates, especially the TN notes.

I liked the instances, I thought they were really thought provoking and some were quite dark and interesting. The overarching plot was also quite novel, so I liked that as well although I don't really agree with the execution and ending of the plot, as it was rushed. I also really liked Bai Xi Xing and Pinecone-... more>> they were really sweet. Other than those things the rest of the book is really mediocre and has a very underwhelming end.

I didn't enjoy the MC all that much. I felt that he was inconsistent, too timid and sometimes messed up the flow of the story. At some points it appears like he's intelligent and can show character growth but then he just regresses to silly behaviour that I really didn't know how to feel about. I love cute, loveable MCs, but in a horror setting they should show some backbone and wit.

The relationship with the MC and ML is very disjointed and you've gotta wait until the last few chapters for a confession to take place. It wasn't an enjoyable wait for me because I didn't enjoy the couple's dynamic with one assuming the other hates gays... etc. Those are just tropes that should stop. Overall I don't think there's a valuable romance element in the story- but this is solely my opinion.

There wasn't enough fleshing out of the soul fragments and the system has such a small role and the MC hardly ever makes use of the system- which I found awkward. Many things could have just been solved if the MC asked.

Overall the story is underwhelming but it's not the worst of its kind. The feeling I had when reading this was a mild sense of irritation. It had a lot of potential with such dark instances but overtime it just felt like it should have remained a good horror without a love story. Because the disjointed romance lets it down. <<less

This was alright. The individual arcs, especially the beginning ones are pretty good and really have a creepy atmosphere. The problems start afterwards when they try to tie the whole plot and wrap it up.

Story:

As said, story does the trick but falls flat at the end. The ending felt rushed as hell and I could have done without almost all the extras. The “final boss” is literally just a name by the end and no one gives a damn. The likes the unlinear backstory reveal and it would have been... more>> better if not for the ending.

Characters:

I don’t have a problem with the main characters but some of the side characters s**ked. Pinecone talking and doing that stereotypical “cute kid/ mascot thing in a Chinese novel” where he calls the ML daddy and the MC mommy among other things is so annoying. Joker is also like this too. Have no idea why people think these one dimensional cardboards that just go uwu are cute. Also a lot of characters are added specifically to add vinegar to this story that were completely unnecessary. Gu Zheng or whatever his name was only there so his palms could bleed.

Overall it was a nice read and a great translation. <<less

this isn't an AMAZING-MIND- BLOWING-INNOVATIVE story but I like it as it is.

i won't kiss its ass and say that it's flawless and perfect cause it isn't.

the MC is a passive conformist and mostly relies on the system for his next actions. His personality is kinda the cliche shoujo-uwu FL but I was ok with it. i relate to him in the aspect that we're both dependent on other people and even though the clues are all there, we still want a confirmation with words.

it may be a turn off for some of y'all and I understand.

at first, when I read the tags that it has a Yandere ML, I didn't read it immediately. Super possessive love interests just ain't my thing.

However, he still has the word "consent" in his vocabulary so I that's a good thing??

i feel bad for Gu Zhen cause he doesn't really seem like a bad guy. Yes, lying is bad but I don't think what he did was THAT terrible. He just wasn't able to explain his side properly.

the only thing I didn't get at all from the story, which really bothered me 'till now is

it was mentioned that Bai Yi dreamed of him when he was a kid but that doesn't really make sense??

he never saw him in real life but apparently his dream is all it takes for him to obsess over him

A very sweet story of deep affectionate love. While reading the story, I actually wanted to have someone like ML beside me because he was just too sweet and cute like a puppy. MC was confused and irritated that he had to kiss the bosses in the beginning of the story but his ultimate shou tendencies showed up so abruptly after he realized he fell for ML lol so cute. In the middle of the story, I wanted to quit but I still held it on until the end and... more>> I did not regret my decision. The extras are there to tie up the loose ends so read it after the bitter and little heartbreaking scene of merging of the souls. Overall, the story is light, fun, and little fluffy (teddy bear). <<less

This is really good, I've read it so many times and I still haven't gotten tired of it. I wish that the ending were a bit more filled out or there were extras that I could read but the way the story was completed suits my tastes. I guess, what I really want is for it to be longer! 99 chapters isn't enough for even one day. I'll binge it all and then be sad again because there isn't any more.

I've read a lot of the horror instances BL stories, but this is probably the scariest among them despite the misleading title.

Ok so I get people complaining about MC at first but I think it's only natural and I quite like his wimpy characteristics in the beginning. It's a lot more realistic than people who get used to the situation right away, and MC does grow and get stronger. Plus I like that he's genuinely good-hearted; he's willing to spend his survival points to give his teammates a good death... more>> in the real world.

On the other hand I just can't with ML. At first it was interesting but honestly he's way way too yandere. He wants to kill everyone around MC, like he's literally a psychopath. That's not okay!!!! He's also such a shallow character; kind & gentle to MC, cold & ruthless to everyone else. And he's crazy strong. That's it. It feels like there's hardly any chemistry, the developments feel forced and MC's IQ around him feels like it was purposely suppressed.

I think MC is competent and in the end he totally takes care of things on his own, ML just feels like an OP sidekick that is entirely unnecessary but gets all the recognition. I'm pretty sure there's not even a good reason why ML is so obsessed with MC??? It seems like just a personality trait... There's not even any reason for ML to fall for MC. He saw him in a dream and then became obsessed????

I LOVE the teddy bear!!!!! And I feel so bad for the silver coin lol.

Mixed opinion about GZ (except I hate when people don't listen, although at the same time MC never really talked with him to clear things up so I get why he's insistent...? but more than anything I'm mad at novel magic that makes him be a terrible person, even though there's no reason he should like MC so much...).

Moral of the story, all MLs suck except for FZC.

And when it comes to BY's pieces, Su Ling is such a baby I don't know what to say :' (XYH is also very sweet, and I feel bad for Joshua as well. In the end, he's even willing to give away the name that "meant so much" to him. And young BY. Even winter branch. Tbh I feel heartache for them all separately, EXCEPT the main piece lmao. Literally I like them all better than the "main piece".

Also, the story never fully cleared up the mystery with mr mu and what the "game" was before 6 years ago. <<less

Similar premise to 'Game loading' and similar horror theme in 'To be a hearthrob in a horror movie'... for those who are interested.

BaiYi's dairy entries were my favourite things in this novel. His true thoughts, and obsessive love for MC only comes out in the dairy. I wish author wrote more about BaiYi because in the end, it feels like his other souls had more limelight and more screen time. As a result, his soul fragments ended up having more personality than BaiYi himself.

Because the fragmented souls each have their... more>> own personality, the novel does give the feeling of a 'harem' genre, which I don't like. The situation with the soul fragments is already very complex, but the author had to complicate matters even further by adding 2 real-life love-interests for MC, a crossdresser and an actor... is the MC a male god magnet?

I do like the author's sense of humour though. Some parts made me laugh out loud. <<less

I love it. If I compare to I wasn't born lucky, it lacks comedy but I love it even more. I was filled with anxious on the first 2 instance. The was the romance proceed in this story despite being a horror genre. Was smooth and brought satisfaction. The only downside is the fact that ML has tons of soul. Like in most world hopping genre, ML exist in all of the world. In this novel It is the ML soul fragments. My favourite of them from the start was the guy in the hospital. But it wasn't enough to make me interested in shipping with MC. Then we met Su Ling. Rather than love I do ship them but only for the purpose of wanting to make him happy. The one that took the cake surprisingly was Joshua. Let me tell you, I have bad experience with a guy name Joshua. And in the novel I was unsettled by him as well. He scares me using the concept of 'dying as a foetus' Then in that one chapter nearing the end of the official chapter, he sweep most reader's heart and I immediately had second lead syndrome for him. Side note I also started liking another soul near the end of the extras chapter. SLEEP GOD! Im a simple women.

ML soul become one and they become married. Just like MC, I was happy they join... but also very sad that we couldn't see the others anymore.

This is a classic Stolkohm syndrome. ML did not kidnap or abuse MC. but his soul fragment did.... almost kill him. So face the truth people. He still love them. He love every aspect of ML including them. <<less

This story is so gooddddd. I like everything except giving a well not a love rival, I really felt bad for the guys who liked the MC that is not the ML (not the bai yis). They all have good intention and it would have felt better if they did something really bad. So I think it was really unnecessary. But that's just maybe me pet peeveing. This is really a must read.
