Modern story.
Translator does a good job. The story is not easy to translate. The authors sometimes abruotly jumps into SCE SCE. Unless the translator makes up those connecting scenes, it will look choppy. Translation is not as bad as mentioned in other reviews here.
it is not romance, there is no smut. It is very slow moving. The MC wind and rarely gets pushed down which is satisfying to say the least.
No rebirth but the FL/MC has a dream that they live in the a novel world. She dreams that she is the ex-wife who with her fights with her husband will push him towards the novel FL. She makes note that he gets together and lived happily either the novel FL. As far as I understood, he doesn’t cheat but gets together with the novel FL. But she assumes he fell in love with novel FL so she keeps assuming that they are together. (So there is no cheating). The story is not focused on love. In fact it doesn’t make clear about a lot of things mentioned. She wants to spend all her husbands hard earned money. She chooses projects that are artsy and money losing and not commercial but ends up making money. She pays them well puts money in to fulfill dream of a lot of people. She is letting directors and screenwriter go back to why they started out really. So unlike what another reviewer said- she is not playing with people’s mind. She has very good aesthetic sense and is really good at strategizing as she and her husband started their company together. It seems like they had been together since high school. So the hardworking husband has somewhere along the way taken her for granted and starts to think her career and her hard work for their company was insignificant. When she withdraws from that life where he worked hard, earned money and showered her with money, while she was at home and alone with her thoughts. While on the surface this is a romantic comedy, in reality the novel touches upon lots of issues. Touches upon rot in entertainment business, problems of modern youngsters, talks about family, job, romance and realities of a marriage. A marriage needs a lot of work from both sides and this is touched upon a lot. Talks about when a country is prosperous there are still some who are poor who will always stay poor no matter how they work hard. It touches upon how good directors and screenwriters lose focus and their love of what they do as they chase money. She does what no one wants to do, let these people follow their dream.
I have only read till the 30s and so far they have not talked about divorce. The husband seems to have realized why their marriage failed, he is no longer angry with his wife. He is now avoiding talking to her as he knows she will ask for divorce. The novel FL has been thrown out by the ML and he was actually never interested in her.
I do recommend the book but if you are not into long drawn stories with little romance, this is not for you. Please don’t blame translator who is doing us all a favor by translating!

LOL! I just realized that romance is not one of the genre and it's actually tagged with romantic subplot. And before I was like, "why there are sooo few love interaction between the MC and ML?" Now everything makes sense ?.

It is an interesting novel I can say. Takl a whole lot about showbiz and like as in the tag, a romantic subplot. So if you're hoping for the love story from the beginning till the end then, this novel is not really for you. But do give it a... more>> try ? <<less

[Please note that I MTL this novel so there may be errors]

A light and enjoyable novel to read. I personally find that benethe all the humor is the story of our MC slowly finding herself, her happiness and new beginnings.

Spoiler

Beneath all the comedy is the love story of a woman who has lost her sense of self slowly building herself back up and learning to love and put herself first as well. So it is a love story, only ML and MC love plot is secondary to MC learning to appreciate herself and her ambitions, and I find that that is exactly what made me enjoy this even more.

The relationship and romance between MC and ML is not spoken about in depth but from passing comments, thoughts and memories you find that they did and do love each other. ML's character growth is just as paramount as MC's and it was adorable seeing him try to win back MC's affections.

[collapse]

The comedy was also my cup of tea but it may not be as funny to others. The story pace was a bit slow but still very much enjoyable.

This is a novel that I gladly recommend to those who want to pass time and are searching for something that's light and doesn't have much drama. <<less

This is a good slice of live story. The MC is lost right now. She has a boring marriage. The MC and ML were in a stagnant time in marriage. They could really lose it if they keep ignoring each other like this. So I think it fortunate that the MC get the dream. So she can go out of her comfort zone. Not everything in her live is about her husband. She could find something that she lost when in her married live.

The ML learn importance ... more>> of his wife that he took for granted. Sometimes you miss something that you love after it gone. I think he understand it now.

Overall this is quite good. Cnat wait for more. <<less

This is probably one of the few stories where I was rooting for estranged couple to come back together, rather than encouraging MC to find herself a different love interest, as she had a plenty to choose from.

This is good. The only thing I want is more emotional conflict between MC and ML. Actually both of them were in the wrong, especially the husband. But, I guess you can give him some slack. He seems pretty awkward and never communicate with his wife so in his wife perspective, he's quite emotionally neglectful. They really need to talk properly.

I will not rate because I haven't finished the story yet.

Things I like:

  • whenever MC tries to lose money, but instead gains money, supporters, and friends.
  • MC acknowledges her shortcomings. She knows that she's avoiding the problem and does not put all the blame onto the ML.
  • The cannon fodders are not completely brainless. They still do CF-type of actions, but they're not as s*upid as the CFs in other novels.
Things I dislike:

  • MC and ML both avoid the problems. I made it up to this point and they still don't talk about their relationship.

The MC is a living Koi, or you could say have a Midas' Hand. Everything she touch turn to Money. The problem is everything she wanted to fail has become successful instead. So in retrospect she actually failed miserably in everything she had planned.

What I love about this novel is the author focusing in her career and journey as a filming producer. And she wrote it in a great detail. I bet she had a research on this topic or maybe she really had an experience working on filming site.... more>> Which makes me addicted and MTL-ing the rest because they haven't finished translating it.

The author barely wrote about the romance, at least not until chapter 40s or so. She completely dismissed the husband's presence. I dislike how the MC avoid her marriage problem and punishing her husband for something he haven't done yet.

I am currently on c50 now and the husband is already on the move to pursue her. Finally we'll have some romance. But the progress is slow. So if you expect a fluffy and sweet romance, it might not be for you. <<less

I really like this story, but I do have to say you have to suspend rational thinking throughout the story. At least as far as I got. Like, I understand having a nightmare that your husband is going to leave you for another woman might trouble you during the day, and yeah honestly the way the husband is almost never home is suspect. But asking him if he thinks the marriage is still working might have been the first thing you do. I know that the secretary was 100% trying... more>> to horn in on the relationship and basically acting to MC that the husband and the secretary were already having an affair, but getting proof would have been my first course of action. So while I do enjoy the shenanigans of throwing money at problems to waste that money and then it turned out great, you do have to ignore the underlying plot. <<less

I love this actually, some people may say that the MC dump for investing in entertainment but if you look on realistic scale, she didn't wrong... The entertainment business could cause you hug loss

And didn't she said that before, she wanted to lose her money in good way... She just didn't know that in the end the money that she lose will come back again to her

Also, please do read the genre... There is no saying that this novel will be Romance... This Novel is really good drama slice of... more>> life

I love the idea and how she create the film/movie/tele that had realistic slice of life in it

Like seriously, about how to respect parents, about a child feeling and all... I love how it unrevealed even short and just for review to film that MC made <<less

So, at this point in the book, FL and ML STILL hasn't had a talk yet. The story is a bit draggy and though I haven't seen the ML a lot, I feel bad for him.

Spoiler

I mean, the relationship is getting worse in the first place because they weren't communicating. Now the FL put the blame on his head for something he hasn't done. I mean, sure, he's a workaholic b*stard. But, like, talk first (?).

I mean, it was shown from FL's thought/memory that he wasn't really a bull-headed, cold-blooded man who completely doesn't listen. The FL could get him to notify her whenever he had to travel for work pre-novel.

I really hope the relationship will end up with mutual spoiling of each other, rather than just the ML fawning over FL because I'll feel bad for him if it does happen that way.

[collapse]

Well, other than the relationship, I think it's really great to see how FL affect the lives of the people around her. Some says that the FL's will to make her husband bankrupt is half-baked, but I think it's just that her pride doesn't allow her to be associated with tr*sh and if she had to lose her money, she better burn it in the most grandiose way. <<less

I found the first few chapters quite weak and incoherent in terms of introducing the MC and the scenario, but I kept reading and before I knew it reached the latest chapter.

If you’re looking for detailed plot lines and complex characters building and development, this is not the novel for you. This novel is very straightforward and lighthearted, so if you’re looking for something to pass the time and can get pass the first few chapters I would recommend it.

The MC wants to spend all her husband money, and opens an entertainment company. Hoping to blow through all the money she invests in “bad” and expensive projects but all of them turns out to be successful. She just wants to spend money but caused everyone around to idolise her. What kept me reading this novel is the pure interactions between the MC and the supporting characters, and the premise for the tv shows and dramas the MC invests in is also quite interesting to read. So far there is very little romance and interaction between the MC and ML, but surprisingly I don’t mind.

So good I MTL'ed it all the way.

The journey of Lu Meng in taking back control of her life is one I really enjoyed reading throughout.

I wasn't expecting things to end where it did, but in retrospect, it was a good place to end this story, not a romance focused one and you can really look back and see her growth.

A relaxing and joyous read!

If more romance was added, this could be 5. The male lead is almost non-existent. I am giving this a 4 because I still enjoyed the whole story even without fluff. Knowing the the POV of ML already satisfied me.

, you could accept him for his role. Yes, he is basically redeemable.

The ending is also nice for our protagonist. It is not rushed.

I only gave 4 stars, however, for the author has seemingly forgotten to mention again some people in the later part/ending like the protagonist's bestfriend and the Feng president. I just MTLed though in an unofficial site. I may give 5 stars once the entire novel translation is completed and the issue I pointed out is appropriately addressed. <<less

A very interesting story! I think the blurb might be a little misleading though. I really like the MC - will have to wait to judge the ML though.

Spoiler

I don't think the MC is really actually trying to make the ML bankrupt. If she was she could take more destructive actions. I think she's coming to terms with her state of marriage and investing in the entertainment industry has become a fun distraction. If it goes well great if it doesn't she doesn't have anything to lose. She's basically not waiting on her husband anymore and I feel is a more realistic and empathetic response to her marriage not working as she had probably hoped.

the novel plot line somewhat average. The interesting part mostly about how the female lead money help the people around her. The boring part is about her relationship with her husband. She accuse her husband of running away from their marital problem but doesn't realize she's doing the same. The female lead seems to be able to communicate with her employees & solve their problem but cannot communicate properly with her husband.

This is a very good novel. It wasn't stellar, a must read, or a standout in its class enough to be 5 stars, but I think it was a good novel with an interesting and comprehensible plot. I do not recommend this if you're looking for romance or anything fast paced, however, as this is a story about the rise of a career woman wearing a fluffy romance overcoat.

This novel is romance but not romance. Her failing marriage with her husband is the backdrop and the impetus for our MC... more>> to get up and start moving forward, but it could easily be replaced with any other important thing in your life. Our MC wakes up one day after a nightmare that she's the vicious wife/ex-wife in a romance novel. With some minor digging, she realizes many of the details in her dream actually align with reality; that one day, she'll become a vicious shrew, her husband will have an affair, and she'll divorce and be left in misery and disgrace, while some other woman is left enjoying the fruits of her labor. Inspired by a future she doesn't want, she decides to get up and 'get revenge' on her husband by spending all of his money. Is that roughly the plot? Absolutely. But I think that's only addressing the surface of our MC.

The reason I say this isn't a romance is because her relationship with her husband is actually not that vital. Rather than being afraid of their relationship ending, she's afraid of becoming the person she saw in the dream; she's afraid that everything she does only pushes her further on the road to being a person she hates. So their relationship is negligible. It would be the same if she was a career woman and woke up one day to a nightmare that she'd ostracized all of her friend and family in cutthroat pursuit of career success. She'd realize that continuing on her current path would take her further from her ideal self and decide to change. Hence, the romance in this novel is minor at best, and negligible most of the time.

However, from the point of view of character development, this novel is stellar. We see a woman who'd cast away most of herself to cling to a marriage have to accept the possibility that it would end one day, and somehow try to craft a new identity and future for herself outside of the shackles of said marriage. She grows, gains confidence, friends and supporters, and is finally able to face her husband and address the problems in their marriage that have existed for years. In addition, we see her husband, a man who'd just taken it for granted that he'd come home from a hard day to a loving wife, realize that people wouldn't always stay where you left them, and reflect on himself and his role (or lack thereof) in his marriage. Side characters also have a fair bit of growth- though a lot of it seems tied into the purpose of adding more drama to the story. Most importantly, most of this novel is believable. With the exception of,
Spoiler

the system bit, which is utter nonsense and completely detracts from that story that has very little sci-fi in it

[collapse]
the plot flows well, and the characters and their motivations are understandable and fairly consistent.

Overall, I'd say if you like slower career type novels, you'd love this. The author clearly loves the entertainment industry and has done a fair bit of homework. If you want romance, or something sweet and/or fluffy, this is not for you. At best, you'd be able to tolerate it because the characters are quite nice, but you absolutely won't like it. As for me, I really like it! A nice departure from women whose entire existences revolve around their relationships with various male characters. <<less
